Hi, I don't know barely anything about cars as much as everyone here in the comments. However, recently I've been learning quite a bit about cars, engines, and all that jazz. I just want to ask what are those spouts on the left side (viewers perspective) of each cylinder? I'm only assuming it's some sort of an exhaust as it opens when the driver revs the engine, but I also expected the exhaust to be hooked up and sent out the rear of the car?
Its an throttle body, most cars only have 1 and its usually connected to the gas pedal to let more air and fuel into the engine, but this car has 4 throttle bodys, independent for each cylinder. The noise is intake noise, you hear it in most cars but usually very subtle. 4age's are known to be done up with Independent throttle bodys (ITBS) often.

@@xzovy6142 Well the throttle body(s) are what you control the engine with, so the more they are open the more air the engine will mix with more fuel. The fumes are probably fuel mixed with air since there isnt a filter or a longer intake, some cars have fuel come up from the injectors, not sure tbh. could be warm air on a cold day too. The exhaust is not really connected to the throttle bodys, other than being the exit for the gasses that are created in the combustion chamber atleast.

@@xzovy6142 No, It controls the speed of the of the engine by letting more air into the engine, Its connected directly to the throttle, so you push the pedal more, and it opens more. The valve openings in the intake and exhaust of an engine are controlled solely by the camshaft, some cars have secondary camshafts but either way the inlet valves arent controlled by the throttle body.
