Great graphics and great framerates... i do not share your optimism. Great graphic is kind of subjective, but if you know great vr graphics from pcvr, and the restrictions even with a 4090, i think, it may be more "a slightly better resolution than you are used to on psvr2". Performancewise they might have the opportinity to reach native 90fps (without psvr2s terrible motion reprojection). When it comes to playstations upscaling i assume, that their focos is on flat gaming. If you now dlss/fsr upscaling implementations in modern pcvr games, you know that they always have a negative effect on the crispness (with exception of dlaa obviously, which usually needs more performance than taa). So: better manage your expectations or you will get disappointed.
I think there's a few factors that went into the price of PS5 Pro. 1. Inflation 2. Decision to got with 2tb ssd. 3. They know that this is a niche product that people will pay more for. 4. Giving it the features that make it a "significant" upgrade isn't cheap. 5. They soundly beat XBOX so no competition, no Xbox Pro.
1. Not what people make it out to be, corporate price gouging is more the issue and that's something done by CHOICE. 2. The cost of a 2TB SSD should be completely negated by the lack of a disc drive, also the money that the original 1TB SSD had going to it. Also the money they're saving on vertical stands by not including those. In fact it should be slightly cheaper when you take that Into account. 3. See: Corporate Price Gouging 4.This isn't significant at all soooo..... 5. So once again ... Corporate Price Gouging 😶
They made poor decisions because you can add your own SSD to your liking and budget, it only adds a cost, not makes it essential. It doesn't really beat the XBOX because the XBOX is more than likely on par with it, when the next XBOX is released, the PS5 Pro wont look like it will be good value. You don't bump a GPU and expect a 4 year old CPU to be able to keep up with today's demands. The PS5 Pro isn't a "niche product", this is something that they're mass producing, the VR2 is a "niche" product.
@@ZebraEnt Here's the thing though, Not selling a console at a loss is not "corporate price gouging". This is a luxury item. No one NEEDS a PS5 Pro. If you don't like the price, then don't buy it, as many people have said that they won't. The regular PS5 isn't going anywhere.
Cool story bro. Go ahead and share your reports on their exact costs of the PS5 pro. Also give us Sony's PNL reports for the year and information on their CEOs salary and bonus. What's that? You don't have those things!? 😱 So in other words I'm providing support for my argument and your response is "Nuh uh! -source: trust me bro) 🙄
I feel the silly price point will kill that console dead. Any small enhancements to the VR performance will not be seen by many. I hope PS6 supports VR but I'm not holding my breath.
I think if the world economy was doing better, the price points for this console could have been closer to the same price as the ps5 was, or maybe only slightly more
Tested out GT7, Resident Evil 4 Remake & Resident Evil Village, GT7 crashed 5mins while racing, RE4R goes full black screen of death soon as you hit the "play in VR mode" then report crash, doesn't work it's broken and RE Village is the only one that worked for me, be wary.

In all seriousness, they really should of strapped on a few new game trailers, including VR(Metro Awakening for ex) and showcased the differences in performance, graphics & resolution. You can always count on Sony for their bleak, depressing, sterile, soulless, unimaginative garbage presentations these days. Sony was a LOT more fun back in 1995 with PS1. They truly embraced mid to late 90's pop culture, which was a million times better than today, and in return we got zany, fun, in your face and creative commercials, magazine adds and whatever else. They've become a lifeless shadow of their former self. Nintendo's the only company left with less then half their soul left in tact. lol In no shape or form are they as great as they used to be in the late 80's & early to mid 90's. Switch has a lot of great games, but the commercials and directs are garbage. Beat for beat, zero creativity whatsover, boring story time telling narroration, etc, but still miles better than what Sony & MS are doing.
After taxes, the PS5 Pro will be just about $1,100 CAD, if you sell your launch or Slim PS5, you'll be able to probably shave off $400. So there's less of a sting, forking over $700 to get the pro. That's what I'm doing! :P
And their is going to boosts for VR the guy from CNET asked Mark Cerny and he said yes as they can now do raytracing in vr games and better resolutions if the devs support its 17 teraflops if raw power for £100 more than the 12 teraflop all digital series x yes it pricey but if Sony had sense they would have a 1TB model for £600 also
Why do all these youtube channels keeping saying the disc version price is the digital edition? Shouldn't Real Gamers know better in PS Universe? I knew instantly ijs
The PS5 Pro offers 67% more compute units than the original PS5 console and has 28% faster memory. Meaning, you’ll get 45% faster rendering for gameplay. You will definitely feel the upgrade. Question, is it worth $700..? Absolutely! The GPU is equivalent to a AMD Radeon 6800. That card alone goes for $400 Should you upgrade…? That is something only you can decide. Note: you don’t have to upgrade. I am going to upgrade both my PS5 and PC. I wonder how much the 5090 card is going to cost me…? Will it be worth it to upgrade from a 4090 card…? We will see. But, I already know this PS5 Pro will make every game play and look better. I am going to upgrade. 😉👌
@rodriguezkev The 4090 is good for most games, but I was playing Black Myth Wukong in VR using the UEVR injector, and the 4090 isn't powerful enough to give me both High Quality Settings with Smooth Performance. I can only get one. either good-looking graphics with poor performance or excellent performance with ugly low Settings. I want both. Most games look great and play smoothly. Some games are more demanding on performance. Cyberpunk 2077 in VR is the same way.
I'm going to buy one and sell my digital edition so I'll pay around £500 for it which is less than I paid for my PSVR2 and I pre ordered it and Sony never sent it on release day last February 2024 so from them I learnt to never pre ordered from Sony ever again

At $700 if it had a disc drive, had a stand, and had a commitment to PSVR2 then it could have been understandable. BUt it doesn't have any of these things. The PS4 Pro was marketed as a boost to PSVR1. It had a disc drive. It had a notable boost over the base model. It was reasonably priced over the base model. The PS5 Pro is an insult. Sony needs to redo their strategy on this or the only people who will buy it will be tech youtubers. Shameful.
I will buy one. I am not a tech TH-camr. Just someone that appreciates quality products that offer a legit upgrade in performance. 😉👌 $700 isn’t an outrageous amount to ask for considering what you’re getting. For example, the Asus ROG Ally X console cost $799 and it doesn’t even offer an upgrade in performance. Steam Deck OLED console cost more as well with no upgrade in performance. If you think this PS5 Pro cost too much tell that to all the people that bought a Legion Go. 🤗🤭
It's crazy how little Sony has learned from the recent price drop of the psvr2 headset..... If we get COTM and GT7 confirmed as native 90 or 120 running on PSVR2 with the Pro I think I’ll find it hard to resist as I want the best for my PSVR2
Are sony really taking the michael out of the UK market or is the dollar really that strong against the pound atm?
i’m not sure but it’s crazy either way
@@Jammyhero can't say I am too raging about it.....exactly what I expected....not a huge leap in performance, just a huge leap in price.....if you get slapped in the jaw by a wet salmon but were expecting a kick to the happy sacks.....a pessimist is rarely disappointed lol
I've seen them do $=£ before, quite often. I think it's worth noting that uk VAT is included in the 700, the US need to pay tax on top.
Not great still but not as bad as it sounds, if I'm right.
I think there will be ps5 pro updates for certain psvr2 games like we had with the ps4pro and psvr1 . I think though that within a year sony will seriously have to think about dropping the price of the ps5pro to bring it into a price range the masses can afford .
The one main audience this time around (as 4k TV was with PS4 PRO which I bought) that could really use PS5 PRO's extra power was completely ignored and instead we get an 'eventually PSSR should work with VR'. It SHOULD have been a priority, the hardware was finished a YEAR ago what have they been doing for a year? I was set to buy Pro DAY ONE for better PSVR2 use (GT7 mainly) but will stick with my OG PS5 Disc, at this price with no drive and barely any mention of PSVR2 even existing let alone proper meaningful enhancements (GT7 out of reprojection up to 90 + higher res + more FX) means, at best, I'll wait for info and a price cut, at worst I'll just forget it entirely and wait for PS6 (and keep using PSVR2 decently on my PS5 and PC)
I'm doing nothing about this Pro until Sony actively makes more of an effort towards the PSVR2 and how it will be worth spending £700 to reap its benefits. And from what we saw of the 2D games (TLOU2 &, SM2) looking slightly sharper I'm not holding my breath.
They should have kept with the 1tb SSD as most will be upgrading from PS5 and prob have one already to transfer.
3. See: Corporate Price Gouging
4.This isn't significant at all soooo.....
-source: trust me bro)
🙄
I feel the silly price point will kill that console dead. Any small enhancements to the VR performance will not be seen by many. I hope PS6 supports VR but I'm not holding my breath.
I'll only get it if these psvr2 benefits .
Ah 2 TB & Sweet, i wondering about the Pro boost via PSVR2 is like now.
Doesn't ps5 already give a boost to ps4 games? Or is that just in line with ps4 pro?
They barely mentioned anything about the psVR2. That’s a shame.
one mention of it being compatible in the blog post. that’s it 🫠
Since their half-assed treatment of PSVR2, we can be lucky that it is compatible at all...
700 pounds is $920 and 800 euros is $880. If i lived in the USA maybe id get it, but close to 900 dollars is actually a crazy markup for outside the US. im flabbergasted and will definitely not buy this untill absolutely all ps5 games get unlocked frames or something like that.
I just looked it up to reply to a comment....£700 is currently $915.60......so while it is a rip off already....the uk market is being properly ripped off.....Sony reckons we all live on country estates with Aston Martins and staff
for any ladies watching out there I do....(definitely don't) 🤣
700 dollars is 535 pounds which actually would be a decent price......hmmmmmmm grumphhh
We're about to get the most powerful console ever, combined with latest technique for immersive gaming (VR)... Imagine how games must look then!
Games: 2:20 😂
haha, that game does slap though! (Compound)😂😁
Nintendo's the only company left with less then half their soul left in tact. lol
In no shape or form are they as great as they used to be in the late 80's & early to mid 90's. Switch has a lot of great games, but the commercials and directs are garbage. Beat for beat, zero creativity whatsover, boring story time telling narroration, etc, but still miles better than what Sony & MS are doing.
@@NintenPizza would make a lot of sense...
$599 Digital Edition & $699 Disc Edition = always 2 Editions
My issue is that $700 is equivalent to £535
I may pick one up down the road second hand for cheap.
Once I sell my ps5, I'll be looking at spending a similar price point to the now OG PS5 for the pro, so not too bad if you can sell your PS5
Other than paying for a PS5 full price TWO times for barely any upgrade at all! 😂
No need to upgrade a 4090 so soon.
@@rodriguezkev I have a Pimax Crystal Light as my PCVR gaming headset. I think a 5090 will definitely improve my gaming performance. 😉👌
@@WOojerVest3andQuest3onMe I'd have thought a 4090 would be great for that.
@@WOojerVest3andQuest3onMe Ah, those are certainly demanding games even without VR.
I'm going to buy one and sell my digital edition so I'll pay around £500 for it which is less than I paid for my PSVR2 and I pre ordered it and Sony never sent it on release day last February 2024 so from them I learnt to never pre ordered from Sony ever again
Ps5 pro+vr2 =$1249 😮
Madness
Cheaper than pcvr!
@@virtualDan well psvr has more for your money

How can it be $700 and £700, when the current conversion has $700 being about £535...? Sony shafting the UK. May be the first PlayStation ever I won't buy. Shame
700 notes for a minor gpu bump ..... nope
As i don't have a PC for PCVR on PSVR2 at the moment, If I were going to shell out that sort of cash I would be looking at a PC......I never went down the PS4 pro route either despite my PS4 sounding like a jet engine everytime I booted it up before I went PS5
For VR there is no equal to PC, esp with all the flat to VR mods out there. No worries about bc either which has been a big prob with console VR.
You ain’t getting the VR performance of the ps5 or ps5 pro for $700
@@Way-Way I don't need 8k performance......at nearly 50 years old I think my eyes are only 1080p 🤣
@@rustycagerage no for real $700 pc for VR is gonna be rough time. I’m talking like 40hz maybe and medium settings. It’s gonna be a bad time.
@@Way-Way 700 pounds = about 915 dollars....another example of sony ripping off the UK market.....sorry I got that the wrong way around and had to edit
A really good hammer is like 350 cad lol.
Ray tracing and increased res on psvr2
vr games wont get ray tracing... its already hard enough to run them without it.

It's crazy how little Sony has learned from the recent price drop of the psvr2 headset..... Headset has a big sale and they fly off the shelves and then Sony be like, "Nah lets overcharge like crazy for the pro, shock everyone and totally hinder ours pro sales" Idiots..... Makes me glad I spent the money on my GPU instead of getting a pro, I was hyped for it but at this price (which will be over $1k in Canada), I doubt I'll even buy one now. SMH! 🤦♂
