Tesla hasn't spent a penny on actual advertisements. It's all word of mouth, and it's one of the most unique things about Tesla compared to other automakers.
Yes, Tesla does have quality control issues like panel gaps and paint, but that is mainly because Tesla is in a hyper-growth phase. Tesla isn't investing too much in quality at the moment, they are investing in self-driving technology, battery technology, Gigafactories, charging infrastructure, etc. But don't get me wrong, Tesla will heavily invest in quality in the future, when they aren't focusing on a lot of other things at the same time.
When it comes to EV companies, there's Tesla, and then there's everyone else. Also, don't assume "Tesla fanboys don't know shit," they know a lot more than you about Tesla. Only the casuals are the ones that don't know much, and by the way, you're one of those casuals.
I think you're really going to like this car and it's going to be a special one for you. Having just received delivery of a 2021 Model 3 with the Deep Blue Metallic paint, I can say the Matte Black accents against the Deep Blue look excellent. These Plaid acceleration number are also absolutely bonkers, my Model 3 LR AWD with the Acceleration Boost does a 3.7s 0-60mph which feels like a cannon. Meaning this thing is just out of control and you're going to be afraid of yourself(in a good way) when you drive it. Can't wait to see how it performs IRL. Hoping March delivery is true for you. We're down here in Buffalo, NY which is also really close to you so if you wanted to do a comparison video of the Model 3 and Model S hit a brother up!

I custom ordered a Ford focus back in 2012 after my deployment to afghanistan. A little welcome home present to myself. Got the arctic white interior (black/white leather) and the myfprdtouch with the av ports in the center console. I was able to hook up my 360 and play games at work (very cool for the time) but that white interior did NOT last haha. Being in the army, always dirty on the drive home those seats were wrecked in about 2 years. Car was about 27 or 28000 I think (remember it was just a focus so that's quite a bit haha)
