Bought some chaos warp talons today. This’ll be the first models I’ve painted in 25 years. Damn you space marine 2, playing it on the PC brought back my memories of the game and now I’ll have to spend heaps of money again 😂
@@TableTopReadyTH-cam to be honest I forgot how small they where lol. It sounds stupid but you watch your video and your brush control and it makes it seem the models are bigger than they actually are 🤣 I got them out of the box the other night and thought to myself, how on earth do you highlight the way you do haha. Plenty of practice!
the important thing to do is practice for now. when you do get some miniatures, don't rush them. eventually you'll be able to all the miniatures you want and you'll have the skill and ability to paint them properly
Nice! Another great tutorial. I just received my first set of miniatures earlier this month and I'm currently painting my Space Marines as Iron Hands from your other video. The highlighting is tricky, but I am enjoying the process! Thanks for the training wheels.
Perfect tutorial as always. Your guide How to paint your first miniatures helped me greatly in my beginnings and I recommend your videos to everyone who wants to start with this hobby.
Love your videos really helped me a lot I’m an old dog new to the hobby wanted something chill to do to relieve stress and stop my problem with alcohol.
You are right Michael i didint believe you were a servant of chaos, oh well you paint so well, and taught me so many things that i can oversee that little detail.😊
That trim looks boss! Very close to the box art look. Black can be a very challenging colour to make interesting. Don't highlight it enough and it'll look flat, but go too far and it stops looking black. This is a good recipe that can be easily cut down for rank and file if you don't want to go box art level for every single model.
Excellent timing Michael! I just got a box of these bad boys off E-Bay. I'm about a year into painting and during the journey have discovered I prefer the "heavy metal" aesthetic and painting with a brush (rather than drybrushing, contrast etc.) so your tutorials are spot on to help me with that. Such inspiring and well explained technique and fabulous results! Thanks so much - my own on-going issue is still about loading the brush and getting a good tip (but practice makes perfect).
the heavy metal astectic is a very challenging but rewarding style. you definitely get to learn a lot of techniques with it. keep practicing and you'll up their with th ebest of them soon enough
Thanks for the great tutorial! perfect timing just as I'm starting my world eaters as my 1st army! This plus the blood angel one should be all set for me to paint some angry boyz
awesome, I love the world eater range of miniatures. I hope you enjoy painting them. rember to take your time, there is no rush. these 5 miniatures took a full week to paint :P
Brother this tutorial is amazing. I'm inspired to start some Black Legion and to go through the hard yards to get them looking great using your example.
Thank you. The most important thing is to take your time. to paint 10 of these guys is gonna take between 2 to 4 weeks depending how often you get to paint :) but when your done they'll look amazing. have fun with it
Enjoyable watch as always! Just started collecting CSM and managed to land a preorder on both of the new battleforce box sets, so this will be a great starting point for me.
I just started painting, I have chaos space marines and the first set I decided to paint was the Legionaries as well. So this video has been very helpful, I've watched it plenty of times. The way you do the gold trim is intimidating but I'm down to try it.
just bought this Chaos Space Marines as my first ever set.. rn not trying to play the game, just trying to collect minis and learn to paint them❤ so this video will be my guide to not screw my first minis up
Thanks for the great explanatory video again, very clear steps to get to a very well painted model. I was just wondering, what is the reasoning behind using Leadbelcher primer spray instead of the Chaos Black primer spray? I have followed your Grey Knights tutorial too (which was very helpful too), but I experienced that getting other colour schemes than metalic over the primer does take a lot of thin coatings to get fully covered. As the main features of the Black Legion is Black, I was wondering why the Chaos Black primer is not better suited. Looking forward to hearing your reasoning behind using the Leadbelcher primer spray!
Honestly you can use any colour to undercoat. I used leadblecher because painting metallics is my least varient thing to do on miniatures. It made it easier getting all those silver details painted ha if your doing multiple thin layers then it shouldn't be too different to painting on a non metallic undercoat. A metalic undercoat is glossy which means less surface tentian though but only for the first layer obviously
I've got old CSM box from my deceased friend and wanted to paint them. It didn't seem right to just roll them with my army theme(I usually paint Red Corsairs, I was a BL player once upon a time as a friend of mine). Glad that you've made this wonderful tutorial, it's like the sign for me. I'll paint them while listening to "Back in black" as a tribute to her. Thank you, many times!😊
I'm sorry for the loss of your friend, I'm sure they would love for you to paint them in their memory. Have fun painting them :D only positive vibes for your friend
@@TableTopReadyTH-cam many thanks! Btw: what do you recommend for older CSM sculpts? This tutorial or your older one, made on very first new CSM from Blackfortress? 🤔
Great tutorial! I just started with Warhammer 40K and luckily all the models I have you’ve covered in a video! Could you do one on the Skitarii someday? Would love to paint them with your tutorial in mind.
About to start my first batch of characters here soon, and coincidentally it’s the same faction as shown here. Kind of nervous doing this, but we’ll see how it goes.
Hey, how do you deal with things like little dust strands? I don't know if that's just a me issue, but i always find little strands after leaving the mini to sit for like a day. Also as always insane work. Been painting for nearly two years now and your space marine ultramarine video was the one to inspire me to finally give painting a try. still waiting for that blending tutorial btw lol :)
you can get anti static brushes or just use an other brush really. I'm glad your working hard painting miniatures, its how we get better. A glazing video may happen at some point soon :P
Everything I use will always be whats currently available. be sure to give the shades a good shake when using them. you can also use the contrasts if you want something stronger
I'm glad you found my channel. welcome to the hobby and I hope you enjoy it. make sure to take your time though, its not everyday we get to start a brand new hobby. learn the basics, practice and enjoy the process. god luck :D

I believe, even as a beginner this is acheivable. we just need to take our time. you can reduce the steps and keep it simple if you want.
I’d love to see a tutorial from you on how to pain skull/bones and flames! I LOVE your tutorials so much, I don’t trust anyone else hahah ❤
so much to paint ha good idea though and a free hand tutorial is a pretty good idea, i'll ad it to the long list :P

Been wanting to do a black legion army for a while now but the trim is so intimidating
even for me the trim is probably the most frustrating part of painting chaos marines. Hopefully this videos helps though
I was waiting!
and now you must paint
Yes, so excited to watch this. Although I primed mine in Chaos Black already
thats okay, you can still follow the same steps
Great tutorial , good tips and knowledge thanks , keep it up

Your videos are by far the best out there!!! Would you be able to put together a Horus Heresy Death Guard tutorial??? Please 🙏
Thank you. I'm not sure if I'll do heresy anytime soon, but I have an idea for bone coloured deathguard I'm eager to do

as long as you go in with a plan and take your time. its when we get too excited and rush things that we make mistakes and get things wrong

great video again, Can I challenge the next video Skaven skabbik's monks have interesting models. there would probably be new techniques to teach
I've already planned the next few videos but I do want to do more fntasy and age of sigmar later this year :D
@@TableTopReadyTH-cam great, can't wait for the videos. a small spark of hope that there would be skaven fingers crossed 🤞
awesome video man, love how it ended up looking, any tips for using another paint besides canoptek alloy?
Thank you, instead of canoptek alloy, you could mix liberator and stormhost silver
I may have missed it but why not prime them with black or the trim color? Love the videos!
its mainly a choice, you can undercoat them how ever you want. I just like to work from the leadbelcher :)
Was the silver paint a primer, or was it primed before hand? Thanks for the video - using this to paint my first minis
I started with a leadbelcher undercoat, this is enough. you don't need a primer. good luck on your first minitures :D I hope you enjoy painting them
I'm curious as to what kind of palette you use for your paints.
I use both a wet pallet and a dry pallet. links in the description
How many hours that’s insane mine need a refresher after seeing that
these are a very time consuming faction to paint :P
Now if I dry brushed some Lucius lilac over the leadbelcher would that do anything
I've not done it myself but give it a go
I don't do highlights because it gets way too blue and I hate it.
But great tutorial, thanks you!
Whats the thinking behind priming these in silver rather than black?
It’s mostly a personal choice. I can see the details and what to paint better. Black or any other colour works.
Sir,can i just spray black?then do metallic color on trim?
yes absolutley :D
Can you make a video about the alpha legion and the fallen?
alpha legion yes and I'll be doing some dark angel tutrials so maybe they will be useful as well
is your nuln oil the new or the old? it seems so much more effective than mine
Everything I use will always be whats currently available. be sure to give the shades a good shake when using them. you can also use the contrasts if you want something stronger
its been years since ive painted....this popped up in my algorithm somehow and i now have $500 less...thank you for the great tutorial

hmmmm Tzeentch and thousand sons
@@TableTopReadyTH-cam Yet you don't have a video for them! Tzeentch will be most displeased :D

to the highest degree!
How many hours did this take?
to paint them 5 miniatures? a full week so probabaly 5 days of 7 hours each.
