Duncan, Thank you for being the Bob Ross of my generation. I love to see your videos in my alerts. And as always, get a smile on my face when you say the thing. =)
Duncan, I don't know if you'll ever read this, but thank you. Absolutely one of the most wholesome and relaxing channels on YT. Keep doing what you're doing!
Your voice always remind me of your old video tutorials on warhammer tv around 2011 when I started the hobby, and it invokes lots of good memories of painting next to your videos, and wanting to improve myself. I really am happy that you keep doing this, it takes me back there
Another good video. I really appreciate the "you can stop here" for battle ready if you want to. When painting playing pieces not every one needs the full (time consuming) treatment.
Another great video Duncan. I've been in and out of the hobby for 25 years, and I've learned more from your videos in the last few months than I ever did anywhere else.
You had me rethink my Chaos Space Marine plan because of how beautiful these Night Lords are. I'm almost dreading you coming out with a Salamanders tutorial before I'm done with my current batch of minis.
Well hello there! Wonderful video, as always. I've been watching you since the old Warhammer TV days, but through youtube on a ps3. Finally joined the pc world, and now I can comment on, and share your uploads. I want to genuinely thank you for 100's of hours of quality entertainment- I constantly re-watch your videos, new and old, and am looking forward to 100's more. Can't wait for your next one. You are single-handedly responsible for re-igniting my passion for painting minis after years of wanting to get back into it, and for that, I can't thank you enough. Keep up the good work, and have a great weekend.
Damn. I've been tempted to start some Night Lords since I read Aaron Dembski-Bowden books, now I am even more tempted Duncan.... I think I can hear the distinctive cries of my bank balance hitting zero XD
It's a very good timing to see this video since the NL KT was just announced and I was really wondering how was I supposed to paint the lighting on the armor. I'll definitely rewatch this video when the set comes out and gets in my hands
Thank you so much for the guide Duncan, it's really helping me get a start on my Night Lords though I must admit, painting a full squad of 10 in one batch is pushing my patience to it's limits 😅
YES! YES ! YES!!!! And thanks for explaining why almost every Night lords painting video doesn't use the night lord's blue. I always wondered why they weren't using a dedicated blue to that legion. I've always used NL blue. But this is awesome, thanks!
Thank you so much Duncan i was getting discouraged painting my alpha legion and the tips provided like painting the trim first really helped me get my 2nd csm completed
Great video all round. Clear instructions and easy to follow. High production value all with a great scheme to boot. Fantastic work Duncan keep them coming!
Amazing Duncan - I love how straight forward and clean this scheme is - absolutely perfect rendition of what I would have loved to have accomplished in the 90's! Was just about to do Black Legion too and have Abaddon built - gah - tough choice now! Might have to do two detachments! :-D
God damn beautiful Duncan! I’ve just picked up painting again efter a 27 year hiatus and was leaning to join the ranks of Blood Angels but after watching this…screw them - team Chaos it is! Keep up the great work!
Like the layout in the tutorial with paint name/brand and brush/brand, and that you summarize in the comments. The words that comes to mind when watching this is "brush control". The years of experience makes it look so easy. When you added the white to the freehand lightning, I was like "there is that brush control." Each time I watch you paint a citadel model I really want to start that army. But I have commited to Alpha Legion and Thousand Sons after watching you paint them for GW earlier. (Although TS pre-heresy scheme using Angron Red Clear Air with a brush over gold in two thin coates)
I love the users choice that 40K has, I Started listening to The Night Lords novel series and decided they would be my first army and the Night Lords blue looks closer to what I imagined so I'm going with that, but I do plan on taking some creative liberties with the trim, either way great video, very helpful, thank you.
I know I’m late to the party here but that advice about the retributor armour spray was really interesting. I’d love a video where you elaborate more on the small tips you give in your tutorials
Really enjoying these videos as they give so much inspiration and ideas. I do a little bit of railway modelling so it is great to learn techniques from other hobbies.
Fantastic Tutorial ... really enjoyed watching! Love the colour scheme on this miniature. 👍 Really pleased I found this channel , as it will definately help me to improve my painting skills
There are some amazing Night Lords 3rd party parts (helmet and shoulder pads) with lots of details , i wish you could do a video on how to approach that kind of detail. Anyway thank you for the video , masterful as always.
Highly doubt it'll happen now that they're illegal in official tournaments. Which is even more ridiculous with how terrible GW's "upgrade packs" are for Night Lords, Noise Marines and Khorne Berzerkers.
@@pancakemogul no, they're illegal in GW-run official tournaments. and they always have been. You've NEVER been allowed to use anything but 100% GW model at GW specific events.
@@superanimeniac Yes... they're illegal in official tournaments. That's what I said. Regardless, the fact remains. No way Dunc & Rog would do a tutorial on a model that has limited usability.

Ahh thank you for this video. Glad I found this today. I’ve spent too much at this point on my night lords and feel like all gear no idea 😔 so thank you. Subbed for more.
I mostly started watching because of the Battletech figure, but watching all the techniques being shown off is as relaxing as watching a Bob Ross show from when I was growing up.
This came up in my recommendations two days after I painted my first model in nearly a year. Night Lords biker. Apparently I had generally the right idea except I did the metallic trim after the panels, I did Corax White spray, and I used some slightly different colors.
looks awesome man, always loved this scheme, not bold enough to do it though. As ever i spend more time watching your painting than working on my own XD
Got into warhammer thru space marine 2, and im so excited to start painting my nemesis claw kill team. Thanks for the guide. Any tips for painting the mounted corpse on the ventrilokar?
Small suggestion, have you ever done one of the original Badab War colour schemes? The colours are mad compared to what the current Canon schemes are for the chapters
I'd love it if you could tackle the Alpha Legion scheme from the 2nd edition Codex Chaos at some point! Might make for another cool "retro" video. (I'm biased because that was my first chaos marine army, but hey...)
This was a great video and I am leaving with some tips for painting my chaos marines better. Only thing I can say in disagreement is I think that both the boots could have used more lightning or more noticeable bolts.
“Now in citadel’s range there is a color Nightlord’s blue but screw that I’m a rebel and we’re going for Kantor Blue *flicks cigarette*”
You know it 😎
you know im even more rebel since i use macragge blue...

Came here to say the exact same thing... I've got so many orks to paint you can't be tempting me to start a new army, Duncan 😅
