As an non-English man looking in, this is becoming a soap opera. They have played so far like a team that have bought into the ridiculous hype that they have to win the tournament or it's a failure - and it's killing them.

@@Rob-cy8xcit's not really weird, England went into this tournament as the number 1 favourites with france and Germany, everyone is told how amazing this England squad is, how much other teams will be worried, how other teams won't be able to handle them and in the span of two games they've gone from favourites to not even top 10 favourites, pretty much every team, except Scotland have been playing better than England, every team wants to face England now bc they are seen as a weak team. It is quite literally the definition of embarrassing, how can you go in as favourites and then proceed to make two teams you should beat look way better than you. Højberg and Eriksen don't even start for their clubs, Hjumland plays in Portugual, and they made rice, taa and bellingham look like they have just learned what passing is.

The players in the squad for their clubs live under some of the most crushing expectations anywhere in football. Fans expecting that England should go far isn't a pressure on the players. The players know they're good enough to take on the rest of the world.

Guys, I'm really no hater, but come on.. anybody who's seen the game against Denmark knows you gotta be out of your mind with that headline.
Its fine Kane not making runs behind defenders, but stop dropping into midfield, we dont need it, just stay up top! Play against the last defender, and hold the ball up if needed, so we can get it out to the wingers in a positive way. When your centre forward plays half the game in midfield there's no options.

Any idea on how England will stop Kane, Bellingham and Foden from all playing the same exact position on the field?
Carra is a Top 5 pundit. Spot on about using Gordon on left to stretch rivals defences. AG & TAA may be used as impact wide boys to supply energetic Watkins (with Kane 4 Watkins, Jude 4 Gordon & Saka 4 Trent, starters rested after 60 mins) in a 4-3-3 & Foden switching, to the right wing.
My preference is a 3-4-3 as Kyle-Stones-Gueii cud play great according to predictive maths.
Kyle cud link up well with Trent & Foden on the right.
Saka & Gordon cud link well on the left in a 3-4-3 with Trippier replacing Saka or Gordan as a sub if they tire.
A midfield of Trent Conor Dec Gordon cud work unlock defences from wide areas & high energy pressing in the midfield.
It will aid Foden Harry Saka a lot.

Criticism is justified TBH. Trent, Foden, Bellingham, Kane etc are not new players, we should not be experimenting in a major tournament. Trent should be playing - in my view - but play him at RB or right wingback, with 3 at the back, preferably the latter and move Saka over to the left where we are sadly lacking - but we should have planned this in advance.

@@jinsimpfor2878 yep not criticising Bellingham, just saying these are all known players, the manager has seen them all play for club and country for multiple seasons, yet we’re experimenting in a major tournament playing Trent in midfield with no runners for him to feed, Foden on the left with no left sided LB to support etc and some left at home, no sign of Gordon who has been excellent on the left, or Palmer etc etc…

Right now none. But we are playing crap and boring yet should make the quarters. However, we have a massive scope for improvement. If we do, we could beat anyone in this competition but it would have to be a substantial improvement, especially to pip Spain who look great.

Yeah but... no, they're not just like anyone on the street. They are professional athletes at the highest level of elite sport. You don't get to that level in anything by conducting your life in 'the normal' way. The best in all realms understand the need to minimize behaviours and influences that have the potential to undermine their performance - they safeguard themselves. If these guys don't have that awareness and self-discipline - if they provide the opportunity for extraneous factors to undercut their potential - then they'll only be successful in relation to those who are even worse at self and collective regulation.

A successful tournament is a tournament that you win.. quarters or semi final is not a success unless you are Scotland, Albania or Andorra. England set a very low bar and have loser mentality not winner mentality.

I never expected us to win anything. Yes we have some good individual players but mostly over hyped. Then throw in the dull and boring manager. Normal expectation is...we are out as soon as we come up against a decent team like spain, portugal, germany, italy etc. How many times have we beat one of these big nations in tournament football? Not many. If we get lucky with opposition we could get far but performances so far pretty bad, struggled against very average teams.
