The era of Arsenal/Man Utd between about 1997/2006 was absolutely the PL golden age for me and I'm a neutral. The intensity and quality of the head to head matches definitely lived up to the hype, and usually decided the league. 2003 when Arsenal looked like nailing it but threw it away is a shame. That would've given them 3 titles on the bounce, and they definitely merited that sort of record.
@thebagelsproductions No it wouldn't have been 3 in a row because they didn't even win 2 in a row. That's like saying ManUtd would've definitely won 6 in a row 1995/96 to 2000/01 if Scholes got the pen he should've got at 2-2 in Nov97 at Highbury when it finished 3-2 to Arsenal and Arsenal ended up nicking it by 1 point after another narrow win against half a ManUtd B-team at OldTrafford but ManUtd had loads of injury problems that season and 1of the reasons was they were competing strongly in Europe unlike Arsenal. 97/98 ManUtd were the best team scored & conceded identical amount to Arsenal 03/04 when they went unbeaten which was considerably better GD than Arsenal 97/98 but it was a wake up call that ManUtd needed to make the squad bigger to deal with all the challenges and have good enough replacements for massive games if others are unavailable and it was a good job because 98/99 ManUtd had the toughest FAcup & ChampionsLeague routes anyone could ever expect a team to get and the depth in the squad was able to deal with all the obstacles thrown at them that season and bad decisions like the Keane wrongly disallowed goal vs Arsenal forcing another unwanted replay. If Arsenal don't win in 97/98 they probably strengthen their squad more in 98/99 because they didn't do much of that at all they thought they were the bee's knees like they often did which was 1of the reasons they didn't achieve feats like winning back-to-back PL's or even getting far in ChampionsLeague let alone winning it. Not until Vieira left did they get past the quarter-finals on a rare occasion. How do you know Arsenal would've won in 2003/04 if ManUtd didn’t win 2002/03? and back then ManUtd wouldn't accept losing the title in consecutive seasons until the sugardaddy teams came but ManUtd were top in 2003/04 until Ferdinand's ban. Plus if ManUtd didn't win in 2002/03 it would've been more of a throwaway than Arsenal losing because ManUtd's record that season against the Top8 teams was miles better than Arsenal's. They got over double the points Arsenal got so if you get all these points against the teams around you if you then lose the title it's your own fault as you've not had to do near as much work vs the rest of the league and mainly lower teams, you shouldn't allow lower teams to cost you the title but Arsenal lost because of their record against top teams so they lost more expectedly than if ManUtd had lost it. ManUtd 35pts vs Top8, Arsenal just 17 (and ThierryHenry scored 2 offside goals against ManUtd to get a 2-2 draw Apr2003 both ManUtd's goals were legitimate).
This France 2000 was certainly one of the most mythic Euros teams with Zidane, Henry, Djorkaeff, Lizarazu, Deschamps, Vieira, Desailly, Blanc, Thuram.... And with Anelka, Pires, Trezeguet, Wiltord, Candela... on the bench. Mental !

Magnificent player a Arsenal great I remember his first season at Arsenal people was writing him off but he show anyone and became a arsenal great one of my favs
I started following the PL around late 2002 and early 2003. This Arsenal squad he was in brings warm and nostalgic memories of young teen me and my best friend in middle school. She had a huge crush on Pires, Petit and Ljungberg. She was a big fan of the French national team while I loved the color blue, my heart was more Italian. I had a crush on Francesco Totti haha. My premier league team as a result became Chelsea (had Italians and wears the beautiful royal blue). I failed a history exam because of an Arsenal vs Chelsea game back in 2003 lol. Though it felt horrible back then, now I laugh at it and at how obsessed my friend and I were with our teams. We were seperated because war forced me and my family to leave the country. In my heart, I promised to continue following football. As she grew out of puberty my friend stopped following football 😢 but I continued thinking no for me it's not just a spur of a moment in adolescence, but I truly love the game. Now, 2024 and 22 plus years later, I still follow despite culture I grew up in mostly unwelcoming to women football fans. It feels lonely and alienating but I'll continue to be one day that 90 year old woman with gray hair cheering on the beautiful game. Sorry for the nostalgia rant.. I just miss those days

Ronaldo was a more talented/natural dribbler. Henry took time to develop, which people don't jive with as much I think. But the level Henry reached between 02-06 was absurd. Had all the physical traits, dribbling, flair, playmaking, free-kicks. Everything.
In those years, he never dominated Henry; he was injury-prone and overweight. Henry won golden boots with fewer star players compared to Real Madrid's. He carried Arsenal and France to UCL and World Cup finals.
I don't think so. Although Henry was not good at heading, R9 was not great. Henry was great at free kicks. I only saw Ronaldo score a free kick in a friendly game.

Yea CR7 and messi have unprecedented scoring records and all but Henry delivered in his era. He gave what was demanded + more . I cant list a top 5 all time without him. He was that Good.
