I can still remember the first time my crew got ballast flora and seeing the hatch close on my mechanic, for him to never return. This video sure would have been handy then!
honestly, as someone who was on the "never to be seen again" side of the first time flora clearing, I now equip every ship I board with as many anti-flora measures as I can come up with, even if it means losing 80% of my health from getting shocked multiple times because I'm not the engineer
@Dranka I was the assistant. We honestly had no problems I just plasma cut away at it and it went perfectly well. To note, though, after watching this video I will maintain a healthy fear of ballast flora. Our security guard kept going at it and kept falling into critical so I kept having to drag him out. I only took like, 10% healths worth of acid damage. The reason I never realized it closed or anything is cause I'm the assistant who steals a dozen diving suits and like, 80 oxygen tanks, so I can have 8 oxygen tanks and a diving suit at all times without taking anything from the crew. I also plasma cut all the flora before entering the ballast cause I saw what happened to our seccie. So I just kinda went in, didn't know it was flooding or shutting hatch or anything.
@@clownintraining5944 Yeah, burn resistance matters a lot so maybe you had better burn resistance on your clothes. Boiler suit and a diving suit should be pretty good protection for a flora cutting session.
Use a delay component set to 2 seconds and rig it to the fixfoam grenades. That way the grenades take out the flora then the fixfoam repairs the sub just after. Just make sure to stick up on sodium so you can keep making them. Also a WiFi component and signal check component set for "remove ballast flora" makes this a text prompt. You can set different signal checks for different tanks, eg "remove ballast flora in tank A" and the the entire process is automated on text alone.
First time I got ballast flora I just went down with a welding tool in hand to kill it When the hatch suddenly closed, and the water started to rise, I realised my mistake pretty quickly.. Another fun little tip: The best way to fight ballast flora, is to never get it in the first place. If you wire the Junction box power to the pumps, through a Relay first, then you can use a switch to turn the power on and off to the pumps. So if you're going through a ballast area, turn the pumps off to make sure you can't pump water, then turn them back on when you're clear Just be careful as you will obviously lose control over your subs up and down movement
Make sure you empty the ballast, if you remove the "set target level" wire and then manually empty it, this can also help with the ballast flora trying to drown you
I throw mutated pomegrenades at the flora because they come for free if you set up a plantation on your sub of pomegrenades. (Ignore the occasional accidental explosions)
I find a frag grenade and depth charge with C4 is an excellent combination. You drop the depth charge in the ballast area, then use the frag grenade to trigger the depth charge.
I don't know why, but if you burn the ballast flora with a flamethrower on land when you are bolast in the water, then you will also kill the ballast flora
today i was in my sub, everything was ok and there was not much things to worry. after a while, my ballast got infected with flora so i had to kill it, "just as usual" i thought, so i went down with a plasma cutter to kill that thing, after some time of burning it down it started to raise water and i noticed ¡i forgot the suit!, no worries ill just have to open the door and... i said open the door and, holy fuck im traped. anyways, that was the first and last mission of that assistant.
Are ballast flora and thalamus the same. In the video here the creature on the pump (before you destroy it) does not look like thalamus. I cannot find information about the creature in your video can you help?
There should be different pages for ballast flora and a thalamus. Lorewise ballast flora turns into thalamus after years but in game thalamus can only be found in some wrecks you find. Thalamus basically has control over the whole wreck and it will hook your submarine, spawn dangerous little cells into your submarine and even sometimes use the wreck's weapon. You have to destroy the thalamus' brain to get rid of it.
@@Dranka_ Thanks for the reply! So here on the video it's regular ballast flora that that controls the pumps and hatches (the slimy thing on the pump)? The thing is they look like each other but there is difference.
I came back to game since I haven't play it 2 years and got ballast flora, luckily I had a nade that was found on abandoned station and I decided to throw it in flora after 5 minutes of cutting thru it bcs it got entire sub, and it got all small thing in ballast then I just fried big one on pump with plasma cutter. Improvisation is the only way to survive in Barotrauma
my one and only balist flora moment was just i dont give any fucks *FIRE IN THE HOLE* and thrmited my own balist the one time i got it XD playing with EK is fun for the mindlessness multigames also it was just funny melting a hole in the sub as i was trying to save the cap (solo away team moment) who was just dittoing a pirate ship back to life for the shitts and giggles plus exp of it.

Can't say I disagree but I think using an incendium or a frag grenade with a detonator is a pretty good tip as well. Yes, it will kind of blow up the submarine but in a safe way xd

Well I was the mechanic for our crew when I first saw a flora and lets just say it didn't go that well xd

2:08you can also set up a second set of detonators with fixfoam grenades. Just to fix the leak right after blowing up the ballast flora.
No way that's actually genius xd

My first interaction with a flora was pretty similar xd and really good tip thanks for sharing ^^
I love how this slowly transform into "destroying the submarine and kill the ballast tumor as a side effect"
Make sure you empty the ballast, if you remove the "set target level" wire and then manually empty it, this can also help with the ballast flora trying to drown you
And also hit the ceiling

lol ya fair one tobaco farm basicly makes econ go brr

I usually chuck an incendrium grenade in and then finish it off with a cutter.
That should work pretty well 👍
From my experience I must say "accidentally" overcharging and blowing up your reactor works too
Interesting method 🤔
I don't know why, but if you burn the ballast flora with a flamethrower on land when you are bolast in the water, then you will also kill the ballast flora
My first encounter with the ballast flora I was like "This welding tool is taking too long can I use a frag grenade" and it worked
