- I took the SLS2 apart to see how it differs from the Original. There are some differences to how it comes apart. See what the disassembly looks like and how to upgrade your NVME ssd.

Really needed a video like this. I hope Linus doesn't break it again when he reviews it.
Hey cbutters Tech! Great video! Can you please do a test with a range of eGPUs? Something like a 3060ti, 4070, and 7700xt?
I'm really looking for a decent eGPU setup for the SLS2.
Just upgraded the ssd in my first gen was super simple.
Thank you for risking your life making this video… my anxiety was through the roof watching you do it. Thanks again
Thanks for the look inside I wonder how hard it is to exchange the battery probably it is glued in again ☹️ and also I wonder how hard it is to get to the cooler to exchange the thermal paste. They again had to place it upside down
Any change to battery life with the different SSD? I noticed MS's website said the 1TB gets better battery than the 2TB, so moving to a more efficient hard drive should help.
By the factory specification max supported SSD is 2 TB. How 4 TB works on it?
How did you prepare the new ssd? Migrating software before your opened the SLS2? Thanks for the video so soon.
You'll use a surface factory image on a thumb drive. See my other videos for reference:

I don't like the fact that the battery connector is still a thing, I feel like it's gonna catch out at least some people. I always found the interior of the SLS to be very interesting, I wonder why they use such a unique layout with the fans at the bottom and an inverted motherboard instead of the more traditional design.
Will the 4tb used in the vid also work for the 1st gen surface laptop studio?
Thanks for this so soon! Did you spot if the ram is soldered?
Would like to know as well, it probably is, but one can always dream...
is there an extra nvme slot?
Is it a good idea to upgrade i5 16GB 256GB to a 4TB SSD for the original Surface Laptop Studio, or it is too much for that device with that configuration?
Microsoft has the tear down manual on their site. I think it was out there the day of the announcement.
Good Find. Here is the link: www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=100440
Will replacing the SSD void your warranty?
they have to prove that your modification caused the defect you file a claim about
I have upgraded the SSD in several laptops while on warranty. I just put the original SSD back in before it gets sent for repair.
Do you know anyone who can do this in europe for a fee?
how to re-apply the rubber feet after disassembly ?
They stick right back on.
@@cbutters do we need adhesive ?
If you got it dirty or really damaged it coming off then maybe, but I've found they stick back down easily without any.
this computer doesn't seem designed for that.
Fully how Microsoft touted this as their most repairable device yet, but it's still awful to get into. DO BETTER MICROSOFT.
