Oddly enough I've never gone through an arm workout exactly how I train. I typically simplify it because I assumed most people wouldn't want that many variations in their programming but after training with a few friends and seeing how they were unable to use their arms for the next few days I knew that it was worth sharing with you...

I started working out again after years or destroying my body with alcohol. These videos had a huge part in my recovery. Also, I have seen more progress in 10 months 6 to 7 days a week in the gym than any other time in my life and I'm 44. I'm getting asked if I'm using gear. The adult acne doesn't help my case, but I have always struggled with it. I just wanted to say thank you.
I'm proud of you man for quitting alcohol. next month makes me 1 yr. sober and I'm so happy to be done with it. Alcohol will take everything from you I'm sure you can relate. getting back in the gym was a huge part of my recovery as well. keep up the good work!
Good for you bro! I dont know you but I am proud! Stick to it!
You're a motivation for others

The fact you dropped Graham Hancock in on a arm workout videos makes you my all time favorite follow
Your good but beat around the Bush a little
I felt the dork won too, which was disappointing because I like Graham.
The dork deserved an award for positioning his headphones in such a way so he could proudly display his Indiana Jones hat throughout the entire interview.
@@Tom-kl7qs so disappointing. Especially having to listen to the dorks idiotic giggle at everything. Graham was definitely off his game.
Hot take: love grahams’ work but can’t stand him in a debate. 😮
I don't know what better in these videos. The EXCELENT information being dished out or the crude, inappropriate, juvenile humor where I CANNOT play this when my kids are around because they start asking too many questions or start saying THOSE THINGS you don't want them to say at the age of 4!
Love your stuff, Broski! Got the app and getting my swoll on!
Ear buds. Just have one in. You’re welcome

Ryan, your videos are my stress relief. I'm either laughing or learning the whole time.
I found you amusing at first. Well..I still do, but it adds to your extreme knowledge and ability to keep people’s attention. Now..not only do I find you funny, but the most important trainer on the web. I look forward to your next instruction! Keep up the great work!
Reps, eccentric, and static holds - one day for arms...could not agree more. Always appreciated!
2nd best way to grow your arms is: dont injure them.
Sounds simple, but Ive been sent back to square one more times than I care to admit
Agreed, people have to drop their egos and master those lower weights.
I'm right there with my right shoulder
100% i would tell anyone new to lifting weights master the form/ technique and ability to control the weight, and it will benefit u. In gains/ not getting inured/ pain alot
💯 correct. Guy's have to get their ego's under control first.
Me too, from labrum tears and giant cysts to biceps tears.✌😂 Stay safe
Just finished your 12week “fuck my life” program - and as much as I thought in the first couple of week that I never was to finish 12 weeks of this kick Ass training …. I grew to fuc…g love it - awesome program. 💪🏼😃
I get bored and do lots of variation too. No “3 sets of 10”. Just go hard and enjoy your workouts, simple ❤
Great to see many gym-channels, so many different looks on training and what is better. Watch em all, try em all and keep what works for you.
"your arms can take it, your legs can't"
me with golfer's elbow: "cool story bro"
Now, just imagine how weak your legs are. How do you even walk around? Lol
@@lance1310 good one lance
Golfer's elbow is a tendon issue. Find the tendons that hurt with your thumb and drive your thumb into the tendons tracing it up your forearm and to your biceps and triceps. It's going to suck. Some people use a ball or a big spoon. Massage it to press out the tendons that healed incorrectly. Think of it like you are smashing and tenderizing meat. There are tears that don't heal correctly sometimes because you didn't deload when you needed to. And take a deload week every 6-8 weeks. Think of it as perfect form week with half the weight and sets you normally do. A technical week. Do half of what you would normally do in the gym and go home and rest.. I dealt with this problem for months myself. No more because I deload when I need to. And I stretch and take walks on recovery days. Active recovery.
I had golfer's elbow for almost 2 years. 3 months of collagen fixed it for me. Take 15 grams collagen before you do your exercises and maybe it wil help for you too.
@@remcov2130 Yes, I take collagen tablets every morning too. They are great for every joint but they will not fix an existing problem over night. You have to solve the problem first.
Mr Humiston, I follow your channel closely and appreciate all of your information. I’ve been working out at home for about 5 years now and I’ve made great gains following your advice. However I’m turning 60 this year and although my mind feels like I’m 30 it’s not fooling my body. I’m beginning to have more sore joints, more unwanted days off due to soreness and just an overall soreness and exhaustion. I know it’s because I want to lift like a 30 year old but my 60 year old body just cannot do it. Have you ever considered touching on a few tips and suggestions for reps, sets, exercises and routines for us older guys that want to stay fit into their 60s and 70s? Your wealth of knowledge, the time you spend researching and making videos is greatly appreciated. From a fellow Arizonan in Tucson, stay cool this summer. Thank you for your consideration. Michael Gust
1st off you’re the man! If you’re eating and sleep is excellent and you’re still having issues then it might be good to lighten up or take a break for a couple weeks and switch to cardio only. Sometimes you just wear your joints out. Did that for shoulder issues a few times, focused on stretching and diet and it got better
You're the best at this Internet thing.

After 30 years of training his right about cables and variations of arm training is the key. Especially when your long and tall AF.
I'm in Texas, retired IFBB PRO but still love this training. Intensity is key period!
My split is
Biceps triceps forearms
Chest back
Shoulders legs
Then i rest during the week and ive seen such craxy improvements in the gym. Ive been following everything Ryans been teaching with the muscle machine hes been using.
Aren’t you overlapping your arms and upper body by putting them side to side like that? You do Tricep extensions on Monday, then press on Tuesday. Then nothing for a week. Doesn’t seem optimal bro
@@Psilocin-City @RyansReaper How could this be scheduled to be "optimal"?
Cable angle can really load the stretched position since it changes the loading curve. Stepping away takes the load off the stretched position. If anything I would face away and pull the cable over my shoulder to make the lengthend position the hardest. Lengthend position is where the gains are at. I typically do over head extensions with the cable behind me at an angle to really emphasize the stretch.
I’m so glad I tuned in for your most recent video
I’ve been slacking for a few months and lost some gains
It’s time to start over again
I AINT NEVA GONNA STOP WATCHING YOUR VIDS
it's a good day when one of your video's come out!! Don't EVER stop!!!
Are used to lift weights heavily a few years ago. My trainer would always talk about curls not pulling all the way in towards myself. You’re the first person to actually talk about this in the benefits of keeping load on yourself to increase work. For a big guy, no offense, you’re a very smart man with a lot lot of experience, and great at explaining things!
thank you so much! I’ve had to watch this video a couple times to get all of the details and nuances that you’re putting out there can’t thank you enough well done! I am now a subscriber!
I always love these videos where it's equal parts "here's what the literature says" and "I just kinda fuck around and it tends to work out"
I AINT EVER GONNA STOP lovin' William Montgomery quotes!
bro's a living cheat code.
This is awesome. Just got back from the gym after work. I've never really followed a routine. I just lift a bunch of weights in different ways. But I concentrate on going slow on the negative with good form. Always doing drop sets to failure.
"If you're new, do not do this workout. You will die."
😂😂😂
Shhhhh. Don't say that. Lol
18 sets of triceps is crazy!
Damn Ryan you have gotten freaking huge! been following you for 5 yrs your progress has been astounding! I was having trouble getting my arms to grow I started doing your arm routines and the progress has been very good! I'm still making gains at 53 yrs. old.
Look him up in his bodybuilding days!

Ryan you absolutely recommend the best exercises I can't thank you enough. Those seated cable skull crushers and close-grips are the best mass builder for triceps after you do your presses or dips.
Pump exercises won't build muscle alone, you need to stimulate first with heavy weight but keep reps in reserve no failure, get a couple heavy sets then do a single fail set for every exercise (2 exercise for each muscle is good starter).
Less lactic acid, more training sessions per week, more recovery, more gains.
After pushing P.R's for a couple week do a deload and do a pump session to give your connective tissue a rest and avoid injury.
More weight, more frequency equals less volume per session.
“What doesn’t kill you, makes you stronger.” I must die. Hahahaha. Thanks for everything. Have a great weekend!!😎🤙🇺🇸
Weekend? It's only Thursday.
Lol, I never paid any mind to how you sounded when lifting, now that's all I focus on, lol "EHHP!!" "EEEEHHHHHH"
😂😂 yip
If you struggle with mind-muscle connection with biceps (or just want to try this because it works at least as well as the alternative) try doing bicep curls with dumbbelss one arm at a time. The entire set with a single dumbbell in one hand. Not alternating arms, just one arm at a time. I've always found these feeling and working better for me than alternating bicep curls.
Thanks sir great information 😊
Love you from INDIA ❤
I haven't watched any of your videos for a while and I can definitely see the growth in your shoulders and arms. You are a badass. Keep up the food work and keep the content coming.
Still the best advice for growth on TH-cam! Your no nonsense approach is spot on. Thank you for helping me achieve better form. Injuries suck!
Happy to hear Ryan using Tigerblood Jewel’s soundtrack again!
Ryan’s armpits are back 🔥 thanks for being generous King!!!!!

I'm fairly certain they do online customers.

I always switched arms, 3 days each, Sundays off. symmetry is important.
Hey Ryan - thank you for another awesome video. I recently had two ischemic strokes. First in my left eye and then about a year later in my right eye. I’ve lost a lot of vision and frankly it’s been a little depressing. I can’t drive anymore. I have to have people take me to the gym, but I’m adopting. Obviously when you lose your freedom of movement i.e. I can’t drive, I have a lot of time on your hands. When the most appreciated about your videos is the comic side of things you make me laugh and I really appreciate that. Your training stuff is great. I’ve learned a lot so thanks.
Well. You said it will hekp, let's try! I will do your workout for 30 days and will film results afterwards. Hope it's gonna help my cuz I have a really skinny body but my dream is to become a fitness influencer like u
So did it worked?
You can't go wrong with the new crunch fitness Ryan here in Austin, one of the most complete gyms I have been in. Lots of equpment
I've added in "Erp...erm...err...erp" to my sets and broke that plateau!
Ive been using these workouts for a few years and bought a few. I really like to cherry pick the workouts.
I think one of the best pieces of Advice that I used. With all of my workouts is. 20 or more set to FAILURE has worked best and kept it simple. It can be small weight, I still get that burn and FML feeling the next few days.
Thanks for all the awesome content!
Just as i leave the gym thinking "man i really wish i had a plan to grow my arms so they look like tumors"
Thank you for all the educational videos. I've had 18 inch arms for about 15 years and could not get past 18.5 inches. I've been following your advice on the exercise execution and the triceps seem to growing along with the biceps. I'll be happy with 19.5 -20 inch arms.
The one thing I realized from watching your videos is that my form on certain exercises like skull crushers and tricep extensions using cables sucked. And I was lucky to have 18 inch arms to begin with.
5:10 was not expecting that 😂
My Triceps are my blessed muscle. They always look good.... I've had a lot of trouble with my chest but Ryan's videos REALLY help.

Intensity is the ONLY factor that plays into stimulating muscle growth.
lol I have big arms have lifted now for 30 years and I don't think i've done a failure set in 10. so how did I get jacked? Magic?
@@LowUTR Just means you might have been bigger had you gone to failure.
@@dendanskehelt4296 Well, I don't totally disagree, but you did say ONLY factor.
@@LowUTR You need to eat and rest, but that is isn't the actual training.
Except it isn't and both studies and real world application have shown this.
Contrats on finally hitting that 2M milestone! Well deserved, Ryan!
Well that's 13 minutes I'll never get back.
It would be interesting to hear the commentary between Ryan and the short king of team full range of motion. 4:36
For extra sets I'm supersetting my close grip bench, Alternate between flared elbows like in this video and normal keep the elbows tucked in tight, 1 press of each = 1 rep
Skullcrusher - ez bar, one set wide grip followed immediately by a set of close grip - same with bicep curls, ez bar wide then close grips with no rest between sets. Getting a nice pump from it! Great alternative for those training at home without access to all the kit. :)

Steroids don't magically get you big. You still need to hit the gym hard.
@Kidkosmos lol they do make it magically easier to hit the gym harder and magically make you gain more from it. Getting big on Steroids isn't impressive. It's guaranteed you'll get bigger, easier than you otherwise would.

Very interesting concept of overload by sets. Never even considered it that way and never heard anyone talk about that
Hey Ryan! February 2023 I got a gastric sleeve surgery. Since then I went from 315 to 190lbs. The last couple months at the age of 39 I’ve decided to body build. There are so many TH-cam videos out there that are just ridiculous. Although I need to make sure I’m getting a balanced diet due to the surgery, I was instructed by my doctor to go straight for the protein first. It got ridiculous for me because being new to this I put all the other nutrients off and went only for the protein. Anyhow, I corrected that. Watching your videos and listening to the knowledge you give helped me understand more of the science behind nutrition and the human body and how important it is. I also, want to add that I suffered from Kienbock’s disease as well. This left me without a wrist to utilize during workouts. Due to this I’m struggling hard to find a workout to work my abdominal head mostly but, my chest over all. Any advice there would be great. The advice you give is great just the lack of a wrist makes it very challenging because of the pain internally. I’m working on strengthening the muscles in the wrist which seem to be working out well.

Thanks for this. I'm on week 3 of this 12-Week "F*#K MY LIFE" thing and was initially a bit confused - this video clears some of the confusion . Following this workout is kinda like having someone stomp on your foot to make you forget your head hurts LOL - my entire body is feeling it and each new workout focuses the pain on one specific muscle group so everything else shifts to the background. Stretching is important on this regime for me. I def recommend it to anyone bored with their current workout and wanting to get more ripped quickly.
I used a fitness connection in Austin when I was travelling for work. They gave me a free 5 day pass. Near tech ridge.
Dude, I've been working out pretty hard for over 20 years, and that's the first I've ever seen someone step that far out and said "don't stand right under the pulley." I just went and even checked the cable machine's diagram and it has the person standing RIGHT under the pulley. It makes total sense to step out a bit and get a little more hypertrophy, but I feel like an idiot that I haven't ever thought to do that, or knew to do that in 20+ years of working out. Appreciate the video already, and I'm only 2.5 mins in
FE V, Iron Vault gym, in South Austin. You won't be disappointed.

You are absolutely freaking insanely hilarious and I love watching your videos all the way to the end. I never know what you’re going to say and I pick up many great new one liners in every video. Keep them coming. This was a good one. 🤙🏽
Love your content
You should try curls on the cables facing away from the machine and getting an even longer stretch
There's so much advice on bodybuilding. I like Ryan's content. Good stuff for sure. My recommendation is to think about the muscle you are training. Flex it with no weight and make sure you get that mind-muscle link. Now try a bunch of exercises and try to find the best ones to feel that muscle. Example for me is biceps. I do not know why but the biceps tendon in my shoulder burns badly doing straight bar curls, ez bar curls, among others. I know not to round the shoulder, to pin them back, flex the chest, move arms forward, don't lean back...etc. If there was an article written about taking your "shoulder out of curls" I have read it and tried it. None worked. So, I took things into my own hands and tried every variation of curl I could think to do. This allowed me to find a couple of different dumbell curl variations where I only feel biceps muscle. Now my shoulders no longer burn, and my biceps are better than ever. I guess my point is: Make sure you feel the muscle and make it work and the results will follow.
Great video. Would love to see your forearm routine
Ryan - add the 2 handle, Tricep push downs (that allow you to flex outward at the end), palms facing each other, as an exercise to your app. Thanks!
