It was actually putting out 850 watts RMS, I was running a pair of 12 inch Solobarics (the round ones). I never never had the SPL tested but it had enough force to put out a zippo lighter of someone in the front seat of my little 92 Celica GT. I had a all kicker setup running off a Kenwood echelon head unit with a motorized flip face, the entire system cost me less than half of retail offline from a wholesale site. Needless to say this shop that had all kinds of high end electronics, nearly had an brain aneurysm when they asked me what I had when I picked up the crossover module I ordered from them and then how much I payed. They had some kind of deal that they were the exclusive dealer for kicker products in the area and me paying $2500 for a system I priced while browsing there, would have been around $6000. They threw such a tantrum about their "exclusivity" deal with Kicker, that unless I told them what website I bought it from that I would be banned from the store. I love kicker amps, one of my best amps it the Kicker 2400.1 kxa Have had her for years slam her daily. I believe 3500watts at 1 ohm and she driving two skar VXF 12s
My next amplifier purchase will be for a unit with a clipping light. In a nut shell: I want to do an absolutely tiny, tiny amp setup. So I don't want to be blowing up speakers. What sucks is I believe it's only Rockville?? That makes most small amps with clipping LED's. I don't even want to touch the Brazilian amps. Anyone have a suggestion?.....25, or 40 watts per channel. Must be able to drive 2 ohm load. Crossovers a plus. But I can do passive.
@@MrBetaTubeYou don't actually need a tiny amp setup assuming you have self-control with the volume and bass knob. Or you can simply adjust your gain so that it would be impossible for it to clip.
Clip lights are really not needed you can hear subs make an awful sound and back it down before it ruins the sub or amp. Clip lights are like brake lights for blind people. Pointless.
@@c130aviatorAh, so people keep burning up subs for other reasons, huh? Make an awful sound, do they? You're entitled to your opinion, but don't come up here lying to people.
Wow I can’t believe they did the separate knob and diagnostic and didn’t include clipping indicator. Now you have to run another wire and mount two separate parts. I feel like this was a huge oversight especially for the amount of time and lead up to the amp coming out. Really surprising because they usually thinking about how to make things easier and more intergraded but this is the opposite of that and like old tech almost. Maybe there’s a reason and I’m missing it 🤷🏻♂️
Got a feeling Kicker won’t be selling many of these, with todays class D cookie cutter amps being so cheaply made you could get a 5k amp for under 600.00
We will have to let the market decide. Keep in mind that there's only a tiny number of people who are going to buy giant amplifiers, anyway. For every Warhorse Kicker sales, I'm sure they'll sell 100 - 200 of their little CXA mono amps.
I was about to move past this video until I saw the separate bass control and digital status readout.. this is actually pretty legit! Especially if it hits the power specified!! 🎉 also, it looked like the bass knob had two lights on it?? Are those dots the clipping lights? 🎉 I have to say, for my high end “wish” system, I have to go with a definite BUY for this amp!! 🎉 the specs and durability and quality of this amp is well worth the cost!! Especially compared to what we used to get back in the day!!! 🎉 thank you!! 🎉
I think its time i finally use my warhorse 10k its been sitting in the box lonely but i just received my 4 kicker solo x 12s i cant wait to get started on it
Ah, so each output is only 2 ohm rated. Gotcha. If you wire all the left coils in series that would be a 4 ohm load. Then all the right coils in series is 4 ohms. Is that the plan? Since it's 2 ohm stable you could get dual 2 ohm subs and wire the left coils in series parallel and get a 2 ohm load. That would get you more output if you wanted it. (This not taking into account impedance rise which is a whole other thing)
I hear ya, but 98% of amps with a clip LED go unused anyway. Everyone thinks they'll use it, then they set by ear anyway. Kicker said eff it, we'll save the 7 bucks. LOL
@@firebirdude2Set by ear? You must be referring to setting the gain. I'm not referring to that, I'm talking about listening to music and cranking it up. As your voltage dips your clip point changes and you want to make sure that you're not going to overheat your subs. That's the main use for the clip light.
Ok. Just finished watching the power ratings and read some comments… here’s my initial take on this amp… it’s an “end game” car audio subwoofer amp that allows you to change/incorporate many different styles of subwoofers/box setups and also designed to be “end game” for “dummies” (not actual dummies, but for those of us who would rather install ONCE and forget). No clip light sucks, but again, if it’s designed for someone who has a nice newer ride and just wants a competent powerful and clean sounding amp that is probably never going to clip or under power whatever you throw at it, allows one to change out sub setups, and even allows for high level inputs, I think this is a really good solution! 🎉. Yes it’s expensive, but again, if I were selling this amp as a solution to a customer, I would recommend it to someone that just says, “gimme the best most powerful and reliable, cool clean amp for whatever subwoofers I want to add at any point, install it with all the power it needs, and from there on, I can just change out their speakers if they want more or less or whatever”. I’m sure the price will go down, and if so, at $600-$800, I think they could sell a lot of these amps! (Especially considering car audio is like 50% gp margins, lol) 🎉
It's crazy...on the demo bronco in the beginning of video. Those square subs inverted looked like 3"round aircleaners atop of 6 intake manifolds. 😂 my eyes were messing with me for a second til i realized what I was looking at.
Loved the video Big D. Amazing to see original badass Warhorse next to baby Warhorse. Technology is amazing. The T2 may happen 😳 again thanks for the great videos. 👍😎
lol, at 8:46 you're holding the cert sheet and I have my cert sheet hanging up in my cubical at work. All the Passes are at the same exact angles as my sheet. I'm talking IDENTICAL and my amp is almost 5 years old. My amp model is the 46CXA800.1. Just looks like they didn't actually test if the amp passed the tests and are just baked in stamps on the cert.
More than likely the paperwork for each amplifier passes through a machine that stamps them. Another possibility is the passed stamp is pre-printed. Then the paperwork is matched up to the specific amplifier and only the serial number and power is printed on it. When you think about it, there's really no reason for a person to hand stamp each certificate.
I am getting ready to install a custom enclosure in my 2024 Escalade using the factory stereo and using a LC2i pro to get the signal. My question is: How will the kicker 1800.1 amp do with 3- Hertz MPS 250 4ohm wired together to 1 ohm? Am I saying that correct? Or would you suggest the WXA3600.1 for that set up I’m going to be running? Thanks in advance
The answer totally depends on your goals. I personally think the 1800 is enough for those subs, but if you are buying for the long run and want to possibly upgrade the subs in the future, I’d go with the Warhorse
@ thank you so much for getting back to me! I agree with you the 1800 is probably more than enough, however, I always kind of like to go big and get the best that I can. So if I install the war horse can I tone it down so that provides 1600 to 1800 W to those subs.
I never comment on your videos, but I do enjoy them . I do have to say that It's nice to see Kicker getting back to it's roots and getting away from being a Wal-Mart brand 👍
I just noticed a change in the board design. It looks like the older board that Joes showing had four output FETs next to the big 80v yellow caps. The release Warhorse now has SIX of those FETs.
14:24 I'm surprised you don't have a line driver. I know Phoenix Gold used to make them back in the day and they were really nice to have for oddball systems if I remember right it was called the PLD0O1
You test the DB G7 2500.1? I have two just to run at 2 ohm strapped. Need to know if I can get more output with just one of these at same ohm load. If G7 does rated power or not……help!!!
Should have clipping indicator everyone wants a clip monitor since they have been out ..reason I don't buy certain amps no clip monitor ..you can clip from other things other than gain not set correct
It's 25 cents a watt. That's cheaper than some of it's competitors (cough, Rockford, cough). Lol Of course the really cheap stuff is around 10 cents a watt. If your basshead on a budget you get what's cheapest. I don't think this amp is aimed at the basshead on a budget crowd. I think the Warhorse is more a "grown folks who have the money for nice things" amp.
@@dextermorgan1nah not at all & you're not buying the warhorse 3600.1, so what're you talking about? I really could buy 3 of them, but I'd rather get the best deal for the same wattage for my setup, if you must know my boy. I'll be giving my Jp23v2 to my girl & grabbing a Jp43 or Jp63 for my 4 Vxf's, definitely a deal
@@JasonWW2000 it absolutely does. Sundown full bridge 3k is far cheaper than the salt 3k. Theirs a reason full bridge amplifiers like Taramps, Banda, Stetsom, etc. are all less expensive than their Korean made amplifiers.
@@FoxyBuildsDIYYes, and I don't know if you understand why those brands are cheaper. I'll give you a hint, it's not because they are full bridge. Lol. And how exactly do you explain all of the very expensive full bridge amplifiers from companies like Alpine, JL Audio, Kicker, Digital Designs, etc...? Also, you're comparing Sundowns top of the line Salt series amplifiers to their entry level SFB. Their cheaper amps being full bridge is just a coincidence. It's actually not the reason it's cheaper.
@@JasonWW2000 and if you look at the reference series or half bridge designs by those same brands they are even more expensive. If I remember right JL slash series is the only one in the lineup that uses full bridge technology. And of course they aren't all equal, those brands are using higher end components and larger power supply sections. But to say the SFB amps aren't comparable to the Kicker full bridge design is not accurate. They have very similar topology. It's also not a coincidence that they are cheaper because they are full bridge. The fact is the Korean board's on the Salt amps are older Zenon designs and have more components and are more expensive than the Chinese built SFB amps using an original Soundigital design.
Did you miss the part where the KICKER amps are tested 60 seconds at Full Output power? I don't think the SIA could do this, nor most other brands with an amplifier at this power output. You are paying more for the in house design with durability and reliability built in.
I would not make a buying decision based on efficiency. Just about any of the Class D monoblocks are going to be pretty efficient. I'd avoid the large Class A/B subwoofer amps. You'll notice the lower efficiency of those.
@@JasonWW2000 yeah but not all class D amps are built equally the same..you can find some class D excellent on power n some are just cheap copies with poor components
@@Hexa8Yes, but I think you're confusing quality with efficiency. You can have a high-quality amp that isn't as efficient and a poor quality amp that is more efficient. It really is two separate qualities.
I dont think Big D mentioned it but i heard when you put the amp into competition mode it shuts off all of the adjustments except subsonic filter. So dont play with it 😂
In 2008 that kicker amp was 9999 that’s crazy never catch me wasting that much hard earn money on an amp they was smokin when they came out with that price tag
@@JasonWW2000 just a personal preference. I'd rather have one cable to run than two , one box to mount than two. I'd be fine with it either way though.
Can you imagine if chevy changed the corvette into a malibu, but still called it a corvette, but, it's a malibu.. 3600 watts is nowhere close to 10k... it's a sheep in wolf's clothing.

Ime getting soon two old school kicker solo 12s. And Ime after a kicker zr1000 too. All back to the 90s
Maybe there’s a reason and I’m missing it 🤷🏻♂️
IDK, it seems like an easy enough circuit that could be built into the amp and remote. I would really like it.
That's a stupid design ad looks like an afterthought tbh.
I was also thinking that they should have made one unit for everything. Seems like a no-brainer.
Dyno tests should be at 13.6 and/or 12.5....
The best person to review any amp.. 👏👏
@@JasonWW2000hcca 3k will crush this amp for the same price
@@RomaVillaThat's wonderful. Go right ahead and buy it. 👍
There's no lights on the bass knob.
I think its time i finally use my warhorse 10k its been sitting in the box lonely but i just received my 4 kicker solo x 12s i cant wait to get started on it
I'm assuming your subs are all dual 4 ohm?
@JasonWW2000 no i ordered dual 1 ohm to have a final load of 2 ohms as the 10k warhorse is not 1 ohm stable
There was no way we could get this kind of power for this kind of money back in the 90s. I made that shit work though! Bass over food sometimes lol
I did too and I went hungry a few times as well. 😊
Eating is overrated
Speakers were alot more efficient back then. Now you need 3000 watts just to move them they're so stiff.
@@derekgardin1512
What you mean they were more efficient???
Which speaker was more efficient?
Yeah Class A/B days were the best... It's too easy now with all these Class D amps now...
I don't understand. All of those sophisticated indicators and circuits and they didn't include a clip light? Inconceivable!
I honestly could not believe the oversight, thought I was missing something
(Especially considering car audio is like 50% gp margins, lol) 🎉
good to see kicker still slaying it.....
Let the wars begin!
On a side note, the rock song @ 16:08 sounds like a 64kbps mp3 track downloaded from Scour back in 2001. Lol
Man you know that TH-cam library has only the highest quality tracks 😝
Do u think this warhorse would push 2 Kicker solo x 15s too the max?
Great review as always. The new Warhorse is a beast of an amp.
Is it worth buying one. And leaving it on a shelf for 25 years. Will it be worth it in money to invest in one
Just made my Sunday even better
It's crazy...on the demo bronco in the beginning of video. Those square subs inverted looked like 3"round aircleaners atop of 6 intake manifolds. 😂 my eyes were messing with me for a second til i realized what I was looking at.
And you put that garbage in your car? It's crap! It always has been since the 90's.
@@gregoryfagan2835 what? I never said anything about what I put in vehicles.
I had to look at it early 😁❤️
Excellent review and Dyno as always Dereck!
That warpony got some kick alright 🔥👊🏼
How do you feel about no clip light?
It seems like the kind of amp that people are going to push really hard. It seems like it needs a clip light.
I am getting ready to install a custom enclosure in my 2024 Escalade using the factory stereo and using a LC2i pro to get the signal. My question is:
How will the kicker 1800.1 amp do with 3- Hertz MPS 250 4ohm wired together to 1 ohm?
Walmart's getting to the point where they carry all the brands. People are going to be buying Sundown from Walmart soon. Lol
Thanks for watching and commenting!
This isn't 90s Jensen Walmart anymore
I was just looking to see what amplifier brands Walmart carries. Sundown, Rockford, Kicker, Orion, Alpine, JBL, Deaf Bonce, JL Audio, Hifonics, MTX, American Bass, Taramps, Stetsom, Pioneer, Audiopipe, Massive, Soundstream, Precision Power, Audio Control, Kenwood, Sony, NVX, DS18, Diamond Audio, Infinity, Memphis Audio, MB Quart, Banda, Power Acoustik, Pyle, Boss, etc...
Wow! I had no idea.
How many watts did the 10000 warhorse produce on the amp dyno?
I just noticed a change in the board design. It looks like the older board that Joes showing had four output FETs next to the big 80v yellow caps. The release Warhorse now has SIX of those FETs.
I think it changed when they added that diagnostic thing which would explain why it's 2 sperate parts.
Joe has recently mentioned they added FOUR extra output fets just to beef things up.
$10,000 for a car audio amp back in 2008 is Crazy! You could buy a Brand New Chevrolet Aveo, Nissan Versa or a Hyundai Accent for that back then.
Its about time bring back oldschool power 😊
Excited to see this one, thanks Big D!
14:24 I'm surprised you don't have a line driver. I know Phoenix Gold used to make them back in the day and they were really nice to have for oddball systems if I remember right it was called the PLD0O1
Always been a Kicker fan 🤘😎,,, had to edit this 🤔,, I'm a fan of any quality stuff that don't lie about it's power 😁
I love the power supply design. Dang it Kicker be kickin! RF where ya at?
Car audio is an afterthought for RF now.
why turn the voltage back up to unrealistic levels after you just turned it down?
You test the DB G7 2500.1? I have two just to run at 2 ohm strapped. Need to know if I can get more output with just one of these at same ohm load. If G7 does rated power or not……help!!!
Love to put it on three 8500 watt American bass 15s
Awesome video as usual. Could you include the weight when listing the specs please?
Great suggestion and I will include in an update video I'm planning showing more tests and more details about the COMP mode
@@wal thank you!
Should have clipping indicator everyone wants a clip monitor since they have been out ..reason I don't buy certain amps no clip monitor ..you can clip from other things other than gain not set correct
Please do a alpine deep dive it’s what I’ve ran for a decade different versions I just love alpine
Good job Kicker!
Like a Glade....great wordplay, sir!
This damn amp is probably $1,200+shipping & handling😂😂😂.. Just insane!!
MSRP is $1099. Sundown SALT 3 is $1149
It's 25 cents a watt. That's cheaper than some of it's competitors (cough, Rockford, cough). Lol
Of course the really cheap stuff is around 10 cents a watt. If your basshead on a budget you get what's cheapest. I don't think this amp is aimed at the basshead on a budget crowd.
I think the Warhorse is more a "grown folks who have the money for nice things" amp.
You must be young. Nobody over 40 would complain about .25 cents a watt considering we paid $1 a watt back in the 80's and 90's.
@JasonWW2000 I guess, but compared to the JP23v2 which is $.14/watt.. this amp is ridiculously expensive
This amp is a hulk ! And that 5k burst will bump the fug outta ya
It looked like a light to the right of the bass knob dial. What’s that?
There's no lights on the bass knob. There's two screws and some printed dots to indicate low and high.
Man brother! I would've love to had seen a .5 ohm run on that amp
I really like when the specs actually get passed by performance
Thanks.
Can you please do a dyno on the kicker cxa1200.1 amp. One kicker did on TH-cam is not doing the amp justice. Thanks
Awesome!! Love your channel
Thanks for watching and commenting!
I never clicked so fast on a video😂
Will you be doing a review on the new Jp 93 when that drops?
I don't understand your comparison of the Sundown Salt3 in another comment. Compare the full bridge options for price and power.
Whether it's full Bridge or half Bridge it doesn't really affect the price.
@@FoxyBuildsDIY Now you seem to understand. There's a lot more involved in the price besides whether or not it's full or half bridge. 👍
Nice I like Kicker products I want to see them come out with a SQL amp in this range.
I'm pretty sure this is an SQL amp.
You're not going to get a bunch of noise and distortion like those cheaper brands.
but.... why not incorporate the diagnostic and bass in one?
For around the same price you can get a Sundown SIA 8000 Certified over 10,000 watts at 1 ohm
Did you miss the part where the KICKER amps are tested 60 seconds at Full Output power? I don't think the SIA could do this, nor most other brands with an amplifier at this power output. You are paying more for the in house design with durability and reliability built in.
They could have replaced the tailgate on that Bronco with the old amp.
Oh man that would've been cool!
Great power as expected.
Will this amp work good for 2 solox 15
That's what it's designed for. 👍
@@JasonWW2000 i was thinking one amp per sub
@thomasbuckler6640 That would be poor power utilization and a waste of money.
Unless you compete in spl competitions.
So far which amp takes crown for most efficient overall ?
Ds18 Hooligan
I'm also curious when they're going to release the Warhorse accessories. Wire, fuse blocks, etc...
The fuse blocks look cool, I was hoping they would come with the amp. Maybe by the 1000.4
Need to use fuse rating for real world use because we have a Dino for the amplifiers so we have to use fuses only or we burn up our cars????????????
It's nice that you show how much power it can do but without a fuse makes no sense
400A of fusing, I mention this near the end
I dont think Big D mentioned it but i heard when you put the amp into competition mode it shuts off all of the adjustments except subsonic filter. So dont play with it 😂
Good video boss keep it up
In 2008 that kicker amp was 9999 that’s crazy never catch me wasting that much hard earn money on an amp they was smokin when they came out with that price tag
It was a low production competition oriented amplifier. It did what it was made for, win SPL competitions.
Impressive! 😮
Wow! That's pretty dope, for sure!
Thanks for watching and commenting!
Oh wow. Kicker has almost caught up to the reset of the Amps. No clip light. The hell.
Would have rather had the bass knob built into the remote box as an all in one unit, but its still workable the way it is
Really? I kind of like that they're separate. I can put the indicator on the dash and the bass knob in center console.
@@JasonWW2000 just a personal preference. I'd rather have one cable to run than two , one box to mount than two. I'd be fine with it either way though.
Hey Now Big D!!!
Very nice amp
.....wait Tiffany! Thumbs up!
So it's an hd3000 inside a kicker heatsink
I'll pass on this kicker. Instead I'll put my money on a JP43. Costs less and puts out more power.
There you go. It's great that we live in a time where we have so many options.
@@JasonWW2000 Yep especially during these times that many of us are looking for the best bang for the money

I was just thinking the same way
Can you imagine if chevy changed the corvette into a malibu, but still called it a corvette, but, it's a malibu.. 3600 watts is nowhere close to 10k... it's a sheep in wolf's clothing.
