@@true-moto-resto awesome. Just pulled mine off my Nighthawk to replace timing chain. Another Canadian TH-camr had a machinist make a custom puller for his Nighthawk rebuild. I left the front bolt to spin the shaft.
Hello, i am watching your videos and i am amazed about your work. I recently bought an Honda Cbx 750f which the seller stated "it needs to clean carburator" and i bought in europe for 1.000 euros. After the delivery i discovered the the bike is not running at all and engine is not cranking. Engine is seized. Do you think i should give it back to the seller or keep it and find somebody who can fix it? I am afraid it might be very expensive. Thanks
Hell, thanks for watching and commenting. I can’t really tell you what to do, but if it is seized then that could be expensive for sure. It’s easy to spend way more money than a bike is worth. I’m working on the engine on mine again in a different video . I already have more $ into mine that it’s worth.
You may want to check if it’s really seized or if the starter chain is broken or the sprag clutch is gone , Both of these scenarios will cause the engine to not crank over … but the starter will spin .
@@true-moto-resto the starter motor is spinning when out of the bike but once it is in place in the bike it is locked. It prodduce just a single TAC sound and that's it. This is the situation. Thank you so much for answering and for your amazing video.. i have to be honest, i love how the bike look.. this is why i am so confused about what to do. A local mechanic just told me to talk to the seller and give him back the bike. Or he offered to fix the engine for 700 euros plus parts but who knows what we need.
@@lamelightwell it sounds like it’s locked up either it seized or one of the chains has broken and gotten jammed up inside. In either case it means the engine has to come out and be stripped. Maybe time to call the seller and see what you can arrange to take it back
@@true-moto-resto after further investigation seems that the engine is not locked up. Tryied to spin the rear wheel in 5th gear and it spin (of course it needs some strenght). So might be some electrical issue. Maybe after many cranking the previos owner burned the starter motor. The starter motor spin on the bench test - but who knows if it have enough power to move the engine.
Could never understand why these were not more popular bikes.
We never even got these here in Canada, this one is a Japanese import. Lots of folks in North America probably never even seen one.

Very well done old mate, I like how thorough you are.
Cheers Phil! thanks for the comment and watching my video ! Much appreciated
😅
There is always one bolt hidden in a recess, did the cases come apart easily or did they put up a fight 😀
Looking good so far, time for a coffee 👍
it didnt fight too much, came apart easy enough, definitely been apart before
So the generator shaft pulls out without removing generator crank chain and gear?
Yessir. remove the end nut from the generator shaft and you can pull the shaft out leaving the clutch, chain and gear inside. easy to re assemble.

Wait, the CBX version of this vintage is a 6 Speed ???

No rebuilt kit for starter clutch?
I wasn't able to find a rebuild kit. Anyway the new one is installed now and I hope to be firing the bike up shortly
