Saw this on my steam library and got a bit teary eyed, I used to have a whole group of friends playing this game back then.

Day of infamy used to be almost perfect. It isnt as fast as sandstorm but isn't as slow as insurgency. It got the correct pacing and balance.
I went back to ISS like 3 days ago and all the load outs and things i had saved were set to default so i just left 😂😂

I remember playing my first game in sandstorm and think to myself "The performance is ass, there's no mod support, the guns felt kinda weird and not as good as in the OG. The fire support system is cute and all but DOI does it better and way more gritty as well (Back when DOI still have players)" Then I dropped it and go back to Insurgency. Sucks to since I used to play the crap out of Insurgency and DOI when I was in 8th grade. Granted, I only have 8 GB of Ram and a gtx 660 at the time. It been years now. Haven't played both of those game in a while. Still prefer the OG over Sandstorm because they really mastered the Source gunplay compare to UE.

Insurgency modded servers are still very active till this date
I honestly can't stand the Armory/custom servers. Nothing beats the vanilla experience with a few modifiers. Unfortunately modded pvp servers are the ONLY active servers left, with next to no one left in coop.

Both games are good, but the first one is much better. I think these devs made Day of Infamy, which is an amazing game. It may be as dead as my sex life but it is an awesome experience. You can play co-op on it with bots, but be warned, the bots are some of the deadliest I've seen and will mess you up quicker than an IBS sufferer who's just eaten a vindaloo.
I was an internal tester and gave a lot of advice on weapon handling back in the mod days of INS. I was good friends with the sound engineer on INSmod who committed suicide and then I kinda drifted away from Insurgency after 2009. RIP dude. I miss you.
5 months later, I've noticed an even further decline in players. I still play this game with plenty of mods and reshade which keeps it shockingly fresh, but it truly is on it's last legs. Honestly heart breaking due to how much love I still have for this game.
Time for me to redownload before it's too late
@@callusklaus2413 Red Death Squad on hardcore is a really solid checkpoint server. You can usually get a few people to hop in if you seed/play for a little bit solo
Just the fact that 2014's doesn't have cosmetics and weapons actually have recoil makes it objectively better, I still play it 'till this day. Sandstorm is more like sh*tstorm than anything else
I personally think it’s fine the amount of recoil in sandstorm, remember, you’re meant to be playing as a person with some competence with his weapon, or someone who is trained to be able to professionally handle the weapon system and know its ins and outs.
Sandstorm's recoil system is the least of its problem. Its makes much more sense since ar-15 wont kick as much as they do in the game, it's actually very light hitting weapon. Even the m249 in sandstorm is has bullshit recoil whereas IRL you can shoulder fire it as easy as ar-15.
Sandstorm is the greatest. And I loved day of infamy and 2014. Great games, can’t wait to see whatever comes next.

Multiplayer for Games that make me feel like a soldier (HLL ,S44, Arma 3, squad) will always be more immersive than a game where you play as an operator against other operators. Being super tactical and operator like fits way better in CO-OP games than pvp.

Day of Infamy was the best with the radio/commander duo. Graphics were fine tbh but Sandstorm definately blows the games out of water with the graphics. I hate Sandstorm for not allowing Nvidia filters anymore, the castrating of movement exploits and the confusing cosmetics as I play without HUD

Fun fact in insurgency 2014 you are actually a mercenary company or pmc. In sandstorm it’s a combination of coalition forces, pmcs, local friendly militias and local government forces.

You're making me want to reinstall Sandstorm haha and yeah the devs still up and maintaining the game but obviously their future is some what in limbo.

What Insurgency Source(the first one without counting the original mod) mods are you using there? Do you recommend some that are still played?
And I wanted to say, just my shitty opinion: Sandstorm feels great but hate it's tacticool aesthetics and prefer the more serious ones of the first game
i was not playing with any mods but I did play on a server ages ago that was gun game and it was pretty fun. Sandstorm is really satisfying to play I agree, I hate how they ended up like cod, going from a game that had characters that resembled soldiers to goofy ahhhhh skins
Sandstorm feels so shit compared to the game before.
ehhhh, sandstorms animations and movement is really good imo but insurgency 2014 did use the source engine really well and it has it's own satisfaction
@@Tantwo yeah that's just an upgrade in tech but the shooting and visibility sucks but unlike rising storm 2 which is good but very volatile to new players.

I really liked borderlands 2 lmao, for me INS 2014 is Subnautica and INSS is subnautica below 0, both great games but the first one is such a high bar to beat which makes it get overshadowed
@@Tantwo I was a HUGE BL1 fan, and I think most people that love BL2 didn't play much BL1. I see a lot of similarities in the four games. The first games were a great base for a sequel, but the sequels were developed in a "We're going to give you the last game, but with more stuff" fashion
Don't let them gas light you, modern infantry combat deserve respect as the OG game, but it's inferior to insurgency 2014 in every way

@@Tantwo Yes its an awesome game but it has no pvp (But the devs said they will add it later) and its still early in development. Im waiting for the Singleplayer ai update
