I’d had wrist pain for over a year and I spend my entire day knitting, quilting, cross-stitching, and crocheting - having this pain made me so miserable. I tried everything icing, Advil, arnica, arthritis creams, splinting etc and nothing every made it any better. Over the last two years I have lost trust in the medical system and I didn’t want to go. I figured eventually I would probably need a surgery or something. I happened upon your video and tried the suggestions and the pain is gone! I can’t believe it. I never considered that the wrist pain was actually coming from my thumb. I can’t explain how much this has changed my life. Having my wrist feel normal again has made me feel like I am 10x stronger than I was before. I can do my crafts and work in my garden again. Thank you so much.
Thank you so so much. I've been roaming with this very pain for about a week. All it took was the massaging and mobilising. I'll be humming your theme song the whole day as a token of gratitude :)
I’ve been living with this pain for on and off for a year now. Within 30 seconds I had some relief. My wife threw her shoulder out, I gave her a back rub and my joint was pretty sore! So glad I found this!
guitar player here and at 65 I am just having this prob for the first time and it is NOT going away... very disappointing... these exercises are good but it is a tough injury to beat.
I used a regular splint since my dr thought it was carpal tunnel. It made it worse. Definitely get the one that holds the thumb in a stationary position. Helped a lot.
You guys are amazing!! I was just following along what the doctor on the left has said. Now my thumb is alot more functional and alot less tense. You 2 deserve awards for all the help you've done for people!
Wow, the timing of this was perfect. I went to an Orthopedic in provider last week because of this pain. She said that I had arthritis after taking an x-ray. I've been wearing the splint. It's just a little better. These exercises have helped the most!! Thank you both. Happy Valentine's Day. What a great gift to me ☺️
Ist. Thank you. Edit: After watching this you hit on my problem. I have a continual problem of swollen balls of both my thumbs. I will certainly try this. You have helped me with my sciatica. To the point I no longer have it. Thank you again. May you all please take care and stay safe.
This was extremely helpful. In fact, this was the most valuable of approximately 10 websites I visited today. The massage and exercises almost completely alleviated my CMC pain. I particularly appreciate the discussion about how this can be a compounding situation as I avoided motion of my hand all day after experiencing pain and that probably made things worse. Thank you!
My CMC pain was diagnosed by an orthopedic hand-surgeon specialist, after viewing x-rays of my hand. He said it was due to osteoarthritis, BUT, I'm convinced it was further aggravated by 35+ years of using a computer mouse daily on my job and at home (I'm 68). In part, I believe this because my right hand's CMC has severe deterioration, while my left has only mild-to-moderate, and I'm right-handed (i.e., used the mouse with my right hand). If osteoarthritis ALONE was responsible for the deterioration, why wouldn't both CMC joints show more-or-less equal deterioration?
It worked! !! Thank you so much. I feel relief from arthritis thumb pain after employing all of the exercises that you suggested . I couldn’t even wash my hair. Now, I’m doing everything. Thank you
12:33 You guys are great🎉! You solve all my arthritis problems- I can always rely on you to show me what I can do to treat my aches & pains. Thank you 😊
About a week ago, I woke up with pain and swelling from my interphalengeal joint to my CMC joint. No hx trama, no hx of symptoms, and on non-dominate hand. I assumed I may have pullled something the day before. It progressively got worst that day with shooting pains. I started the motrin, heat and ice thing as well as Voltaran. Nothing helped over the next few days and it beacme worst because I kept tweeking it. Finally, I looked up excersises to help heal area, it helped at the moment but made it feel worst later. By this time, the pain was now in my wrist. I started to think something more was going on and started to get concerned.Yesterday, I tried to splint it (probably had the wrong type), it only made it feel worse. I did not leave it on. I fell upon this video and was like what do have to lose, if don't work, I will just go to the doctor. Last night, I did the message with no pain, only a little when trying to rotate the CMC joint. Afterwards, I could touch my pinky to my thumb without effort or pain (could not do all week). No pain meds or heat or ice before bed. Woke up this morning, swelling is down, full movement and funtionality even picked-up a gallon of milk with that hand. All is well. Thank you for this video and all that y'all do (not the first time y'all have helped me).
Im currently experiencing this problem. It hurt so bad. After xrays discovered it was not fractured so I felt comfortable doing the massage & exercises you've suggested. I think I'm making progress as it does not hurt as bad. Thank you two so much! 🥰
Aurora, how long did yours take to get better? Mine started just over a month ago. Only slightly better now, but I can aggravate it easily & it starts hurting bad again . 😐
I had just finished watching the flat stomach video and couldn’t believe it when I came across this one! I recently developed this pain from playing guitar and was so worried I would have to give it up. I broke my thumb pretty far down when I was a kid and I thought it was that injury coming back to haunt me. That may indeed be true but these instructions give me hope that it may be fixable! It might just be overuse!
Our clients really like the metagrip push splint and/or the Comfort Cool CMC restriction splint for this condition. I believe you can get both on Amazon!
Crazy that I stumbled upon this. I had one of the comfort cool braces years ago and lost it. I could never find the perfect one like I had with that one. Ordering one right now! Thank you so much!
I have that exact pain!!! For a number of months!! Doing massage for 25 years might have something to do with it!!! Can’t wait to try this!!! You guys are wonderful!!!! Thanks for all you do!! Massage on!!! Happy Valentine’s Day weekend!! 💕
Thank you guys, truly appreciate all of your videos. I know I can always count on your wealth of knowledge and experience for expert advise. I have shared your YT channel with my hubby and MIL and encourage the both of them to watch and learn.
Thank you for the reminder. It's funny how my thumb has been aching on and off the last 2 weeks. I had been doing the massage with sufficient relief. I just did the pull and twist. The joint popping stopped for a minute and the pain really subsided. Awesome.
Glad to see this video as for years and years both my thumbs rates swell up and get very painful and I do not have rheumatoid arthritis my wrist are weak so thank you again for this video
Soooo, if there is arthritis in there and a cortisone injection, yep I cried, didn’t work. The next step was taking a ligament(?) wrap around the thumb and reconnect it. Is it worth the surgery & recovery??? You guys are so AWESOME!!
Thank you for this. My orthopedist said my thumb joint was lax and I get pain there. He recommended physical therapy but I don't feel like spending so much money on copays.
Using the q2 as I watch LOL!! What a great little tool!! It keeps me from over working the other hand. I use the ball head on its side like Brad demonstrated on another vid. It helps. Grrrr- working both carpal & arthritis 😝
I work with steel everyday and I use a bucket of sand. Needing sand every night or second night for the flexors and extensors has fixed this type of problem for me and golfers elbows.
You two are awesome.. Had a ridiculous amount of soreness in my thumb after using a razor blade to scrape away old silicone caulking. I knew you two would have something. I did the massage and the pain is 90% gone. It's a still a little sore but after 2-3 minutes the relief was very noticeable. Thank you!!
Thanks guys, it was like you read my mind! I only recently started getting pains in both those joints in my thumbs. I suspected it was the arthritis. Did some of those exercises with you and I have no doubt its going to get better!
I injured mine doing a list and transfer of a patient last year, right when covid hit. I was unable to see my ortho so I went to therapy, got the hot wax and massages plus a splint. They stop though once covid hit my residential job really hard. I went 4 months with nothing. Finally once I was able to see my ortho she said I have carpal tunnel because it was injured to long without proper treatment. It's killing me. I had to learn how to do simple things again like brushing my teeth and hair. Writing is probably the worst pain I get, along with the sudden ones. Yet I can push wheelchairs and boxes around all day🤔
I thought this was Bonsal arthritis? I have this in my left thumb. Hurts like crazy. I play guitar and bass and just retired from my work. Wanted to play again and this is really slowing me down. Getting old : )
I have so many issues going on w both my hands. I've got arthritis in both wrist, arthritis in left thumb, trigger fingers, carpal bossing in my right hand, broken pinky finger, my index finger is slightly bigger than my left one. At times it gets 🥶 cold and feels like there's poor circulation. Because I do repetitive work with my hands they will sometimes tremble. I have trouble holding heavy items and now I think I'm getting another carpal boss next to the one I have. My hands hurt so bad. I know I need surgery but not sure what to fix first.
I use passive stretches that last 20 seconds, once or twice a day, of forearm and thumb extensors. I also do some supine exercises with a 1 and 1/2 pound weight bar to activate and strengthen back muscles, since strong lats help in prevent pain in shoulders, arms, wrists, and hands. I would love to chat with you guys about this. (I was affected by a fluoroquinolone antibiotic such that my connective tissue is now fragile, soft tissue alignment is somewhat impaired and unstable, and I get soft tissue micro damage more easily and extensively than a normal healthy person. The movement work that I do has to take that into account. There are thousands of people similarly affected.) If that is something you do sometimes, and you're interested in what I have to say, please let me know what to do next. Thank you.
Thanks for the tips. Can you explain why the area down from the joint to my wrist erupts daily with unsightly blood spots? Also has a bluish rotten fruit look. Touching the area sends tingling sparks along the bone leading to the cmc joint.
Iam 34 years old and In the past month both my joints in this region are sore and hurt while doing exactly why you guys are talking about. My left hurts more than my right.
Where’s the Packers plushie??? Been struggling with this type of pain for about 2 years now. Can’t wait to try these techniques! Thank you for amazing videos and y’all are the best!
I have always done a lot of machine sewing, using a rotary cutter, hard sewing, crochet, needle point etc., dr said nothing to do for my over used hands. Dr did carpal tunnel surgery. It didn’t help. I’ll try y’all’s suggestions.
I believe I have arthritis in my right CMC joint. There are times when I cannot write. I have quit bowling, because it aggravates it. Or if I bowl, then it is only 1 game. Don't want to make the joint angry, lol. I will try the massage. Some of that movement brought sharp pain.
I love these suggestions + for a couple of weeks I’ve been practicing. I wear thumb splint day time for functional work (thumb has good free movement in splint) then at night it’s a different splint that’s more plaster feel so joint has chance to rest. My question is if mri shows severe arthritis would the exercises still apply or is it time for surgical solution. P.s. Never had pain till I had fall accident that must have triggered symptomatic pain (mri first I knew there was arthritic presence). Thank you bob + brad.
Hi, I was wearing too tight gloves on and off (I’m a dental hygienist) and inflamed my thumb!! The lowest joint now has crepitus, that is, just happened. This is a new symptom. Will this go away???
Thank you for all you both do! I am a retired nurse but still do some PVT duty...Yes have had this pain in my Lt wrist since Feb of this year...and Had Carpel in Rt....Long story short...got shot for Lt wrist (Dr said he only gives one shot for this) before CT surgery and 2 trigger fingers...back in March and is doing very good..... But my Lt wrist Tenosynovitis has returned and been doing your excerises .....I even have throbbing pain there with out movement. Honestly just asking your thoughts.... when do we know when its time to have surgery? thank you...from this in Nurse in pain.. Much Love to you both
The rubber band resistance HURTS!!! My personal PT has me do that. Crochet damaged my thumb ....... can I ever get back to crochet? I haven't done it in over two months. 😔
I need your help I don't have medical I'm falling apart and I need to know what to do to take care of myself the best that I can my neck is making my arms go numb in my thumbs are going out of place and clicking constantly I have lower back problems to degenerative disc in cartilage disease I'm falling apart and falling apart please any advice I need it so bad
I have some serious medical problems and I cannot see a doctor because I have no medical I don't have enough money we're working our butts off and I still have to work like this and I need to know what to do my neck is making my arms go numb female and also I've got the upper body imbalance with breasts of course but I can't even clean my elbow down on the table or nothing anymore to support the painful part of my neck because it's going numb now from down there too my thumbs are going crazy with this clicking and I'm falling apart and I don't know what to do anymore I need your help
It is tough when your job requires this movement; I have to wear gloves as well and am using that joint for hours. Splint is impossible. Will try exercise but need a slim support that I can cover with standard medical gloves. Both sides, ugh.
HOLY CRAP. I've had problem with this since I was a kid- both hands. Stabilized an (over)full wheelbarrow (bc I'm a dumbass) and felt a pop in there and it's been tingling ever since. I use hand tools to grind at work everyday so I've been taping with some success. 35 years and I never knew about that joint. I've complained to drs for as long as I can remember bc everytime I put weight on my hands I have immediate, sharp pain and tingling. Somewhere during grade school I learned to stop trying to catch myself when I fall. I do yoga and push ups on my fists. All the drs say is "yOuRe ToO yOuNg FoR pRoBlEmS LiKe ThIs" no shit, Sherlock. Why else would I be here? Thanks TH-cam, for helping me in 10 mins more than 35 yrs of drs could.

This is an amazing testimony! And may I add, for days it's extra painful, you can wrap it in castor oil overnight & get some easy relief!
Thank you so so much. I've been roaming with this very pain for about a week. All it took was the massaging and mobilising. I'll be humming your theme song the whole day as a token of gratitude :)

As an artist who does sculpture and pottery, just now at age 68 pain has set in so I am listening.
Somewhere over Massage, massage, massage!!!!
Had a basel joint break. Left hand They couldn't find the broken part. They took some tendon from my arm to fill in the hole.
yeah I needed to give up working with clay xo
@@maddiec7913 oh, sorry to hear, but not an option for me, I love it and am compelled.😶
guitar player here and at 65 I am just having this prob for the first time and it is NOT going away... very disappointing... these exercises are good but it is a tough injury to beat.
Thank you! Because of repetitive movements at work, my co-workers and I have this exact pain. Can’t wait to share with everyone on Monday!

Agree. Work related. I’m a cashier and just got pain there.
Ahhh I need this now! Thank you!
Just got your massage gun for my birthday and just went and grabbed it now to work my thumb while I watch!
It worked! !! Thank you so much. I feel relief from arthritis thumb pain after employing all of the exercises that you suggested . I couldn’t even wash my hair. Now, I’m doing everything. Thank you
Ooo very timely, as I have developed both thumb AND wrist pain recently.

Excellent thank you I’m going to do this.
The thing that helped me most is taping thump to finger so it has time to rest. After three days it was so much better.
I have the same pain you mentioned. Can't hold the cell phone for even half a second. Thanks for the exercises. You guys are cool!
Thanks for the instruction. It has helped much.
This was so helpful and exactly what I needed to find!!!! Thank you so much! Keep up the great work guys.
Thanks for all your help B&B ❣️ God bless y’all 🌈🙏
Thank you both, not just for this, but for all the help you give; I really, really appreciate it.
Thank you guys, truly appreciate all of your videos. I know I can always count on your wealth of knowledge and experience for expert advise. I have shared your YT channel with my hubby and MIL and encourage the both of them to watch and learn.
Y'all are wonderful! Thank you so much!
We're here early! Groovy dude! Thanks for the psychedelic hand treatment ~~~
I relieved mine by deep forearm massage, wrist twisting up and down weight on a rope and stick like motorcycle and forearm stretching
Thank you for the reminder. It's funny how my thumb has been aching on and off the last 2 weeks. I had been doing the massage with sufficient relief. I just did the pull and twist. The joint popping stopped for a minute and the pain really subsided. Awesome.
Wow really!
They are the best freaks in the internet! Despite this, the exercises are good
This works within a day!!! Thank you so much... yet again.
Ty so much for this. I sew and this is my biggest frustration
You are very welcome.
Showing the joint on the skeleton really helped
Glad to see this video as for years and years both my thumbs rates swell up and get very painful and I do not have rheumatoid arthritis my wrist are weak so thank you again for this video
Thank you x 1000 for all the parts you have helped me with.
Well, you're getting your physical therapy for free by watching this video!
Yep, I’m experiencing this right now. Thank you for the video, this really helps.
Such helpful info. I did these plus used the thermotex... so nice.
Came looking for this nugget. Thanks
Great advice. I’ve had this problem for years. My physician gave shots. Now no shots!! Great advice.
Wow, that was soothing and really woke things up! Went on to massage the rest of my fingers too. Thanks!
Love you guys, thanks for all the wonderful work and videos - you've helped me so much 🙏
You guys are the best!! Every video you guys post has helped me so much..Thumbs, back, knees, neck!! Definitely 2 👍👍up to you
Again you help me I’m falling apart one piece at a time!
Using the q2 as I watch LOL!! What a great little tool!! It keeps me from over working the other hand. I use the ball head on its side like Brad demonstrated on another vid. It helps.

Thanks sir Bob and brad
Wish this video had come out about 20 years ago
Thank you.❤🧡💛💚💙💜
I have this problem from knitting. It would be helpful to see the massage close up as I’m not sure exactly what you’re doing. Thank you.
I got a really stiff wrist splint from my doctor. It's great.
I thought this was Bonsal arthritis? I have this in my left thumb. Hurts like crazy. I play guitar and bass and just retired from my work. Wanted to play again and this is really slowing me down. Getting old : )

Watched this and the trigger thumb and finger video. They helped very much, thank you so much.🇬🇧🇺🇦❤
"Heeeeeeeey!" Thumbs up from me. This video helped. Thanks.
Where’s the Packers plushie??? Been struggling with this type of pain for about 2 years now. Can’t wait to try these techniques! Thank you for amazing videos and y’all are the best!
Report back the results please!!
I have always done a lot of machine sewing, using a rotary cutter, hard sewing, crochet, needle point etc., dr said nothing to do for my over used hands. Dr did carpal tunnel surgery. It didn’t help. I’ll try y’all’s suggestions.
Thanks for watching, we hope you find some relief!
I believe I have arthritis in my right CMC joint. There are times when I cannot write. I have quit bowling, because it aggravates it. Or if I bowl, then it is only 1 game. Don't want to make the joint angry, lol. I will try the massage. Some of that movement brought sharp pain.
These videos show up really timely.. if it appeared just a day earlier I wouldn't have clicked
Love all your videos they're very helpful. The subtitles block the demonstrations. Is there a way it could be moved top of the screen
Thank you hurt my thumb playing football this helps but I still have some pain after 2 weeks
I love these suggestions + for a couple of weeks I’ve been practicing. I am having problems with both thumbs that go to the elbow, shoulder and neck both sides so could psoriasis be involved.
The first place I got arthritis was in that joint.
Thank you👍🥰
High-class

what about a TENS device? topical creams? supplements?
Do you have any videos for servers, food runners. I'm in the restaurant business and use my wrist alot it hurts .
We don't have a video specifically for servers but here is another video on wrist pain th-cam.com/video/j7VDWyQ77aQ/w-d-xo.html

Can issues with the CMC joint cause trigger thumb?
It is tough when your job requires this movement; I have to wear gloves as well and am using that joint for hours. Splint is impossible. Will try exercise but need a slim support that I can cover with standard medical gloves. Both sides, ugh.
My right thumb finger hurts when it bends, n painful when it opens. What time excercise do u recommend? It feels like the arteries r twisted.
I been working out, and have wrist pain, joint pain. Is this normal for a 40 some year old man. When starting to workout again ?
Husband has had CMC surgery 3 X’s in his thumbs. Ankers place but pain is still prevalent.
Do these exercises work after cmc surgery?
thank you xo
