This song is a piece of Dong choir, a traditional Dong folk song in China. This piece does has lyrics and meaning, but I'm not from Dong and don't know the language(Dong language is different from Chinese). The following is translated from old Chinese(classical Chinese) given above by HOYO-MiX: Phase 1: The plants grow lush in the morning, but wither in the evening. For mayflies and morning dew (short-lived species), the future is truly fleeting. A day's time is indeed too short. Phase 2: Lamenting the brevity of time, the pain brought by birth, aging, and illness all stems from death. Even immortals have a day of passing, leaving behind useless sighs. The divine branches(Hilt-Wood branches) have now grown abundant and mature, with grass and flowers flourishing around them. the holy branches are already laden with bountiful fruits on the southern mountain. Phase 3: Those who accept their destiny will achieve immortality, and those blessed by heaven will shine throughout the starry sea. It is quite difficult to translate these lyrics into today's Chinese, let alone into English. Anyone who can translate better please leave a comment.😿By the way, lyrics of Azhdaha battle theme in Genshin impact is old Chinese (classical Chinese) language, too.
I lost my mind when it came to his turn and he shouted "It ends here Phantylia!" and "For the Xianzhou!" as he attacked. What a fantastic touch. I hope they do that in the future with other big plot fights and give whatever character is related most closely to the going ons unique dialogue.

0:00 - Phantylia stares down at you with a condescending look on her face, slouching as she laughs at your efforts on bringing her down. She has the power of Abundance with her, so what else can you do but struggle? 1:57 - Phantylia starts to take you a bit more seriously as she sits up, unlike her original position. She brings out the power of Destruction to stop you from playing any more games. 4:01 - Phantylia gets frustrated as the so-called 'ants' are now beating her at her own game, with a hand on the ground and a furious frown. She calls upon the powers of both Abundance and Destruction, taking you seriously as she tries and stop you from defeating her completely.
She still not serious in the fight.. jing yuan said if she take the fight more seriously shes already won.. the reason she lose cuz she trying so hard to achieve the destruction in the way she desired by turning jingyuan.. unaware that the technique linked both parties
I love how the motiff of the third part of this boss fight's song 5:04 also played during the Jingyuan VS Jingliu short animation at the start of the Xianzhou arc, tying up the entire arc
Hoyo really never misses with their OSTs. Love how 1st phase starts off with that menacing chanting but despite it,you can still feel that you're in control of the situation. She may scare you(tbh,no she doesn't.She only turns you on)but you still need to put a stop on her. But then it shifts to phase 2 and things got intense.I mean, she literally starts it off with a literal fcking NUKE on your team. You can feel that it's time to get serious as she does the same(Can't forget the BANGER at 3:15,really makes you consider your choices properly as it's no time to play around anymore). Lastly, the final phase,it begins...Phantylia is getting sick of the ants(you and your team)getting in her way. Thus, she reveals her true form. This is it,time to put an end to it.Despite how impossible it may look, you still have to give it your all.Then,5:05 starts playing and it makes you remember all the things that you've been through and seen throughout your journey, especially at the Xianzhou Luofu. That place is now an absolute mess. You can't give up,not just yet.You MUST bring an end to her schemes in order to bring peace and seal the Stellaron for good. So,give it your all Trailblazer and help JingYuan defeat Phantylia! When I heard his unique dialogue, I got all pumped up and determined, but also nervous. "So damn death flags". This boss wasn't hard, the OST slaps, and I was nervous during all 3 phases.
I love every part of this fight in how the fight and music progress with each other. It’s like reading or listening to a great story. The beginning of the fight sees Phantyllia being overconfident and barely using her powers, while the music is more ambient and introduces her as this true force to be reckoned with. The opera like vocals merge with the instrumentation to show “this is an extremely tough fight, good luck”. The second phase, being the “rising action” is just as fantastic. Phantyllia brings her powers of destruction to bear, decimating us with massive rocks and tough to deal with debuffs. The music breaks from its ambient style to bring out a fast paced, almost entirely different tone. The opera is replaced at some point with almost a rap with a fantastic beat, giving you the feeling that you’re not out of the woods yet and you’d better hurry up into…. The climax! This is when Phantyllia is truly on the ropes and is bringing out her full power. She utilizes the mechanics from the last two rounds as well as devastating blast and aoe strikes. The music shifts back to the more orchestral theme, but instead of the boss like ambience we get a new theme. The theme feels like ours. It has these sweeping melodies of hope and adventure. If phase one was Phantyllia’s ambience, phase 3 is ours. It goes through these adventurous Chinese style themes that make you want to finish her off in triumphant heroic style!! Hoyoverse really outdid themselves with the design of this fight. Giving us a truly godlike enemy to test our mettle against. I don’t know who the next boss will be, but I hope it’s just as epic as this one and Cocolia.
The intro to the first track is amazing but the second track is my favourite overall. Ill be bumping these in the gym nonstop when they release on Spotify 😅
This really makes me remember Monster Hunter Rise's Mizutsune theme. I bet you can slap this theme onto that monster with some mods and you'll be humor to see how it suits so well!
Phase 2 is sooooo fucking good. The intro is great, and then everything from the build up all the way through the drop to the very end of the song is just 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 the other two phases themes are great too, but I can’t get over how fucking insane that part is. Such an amazing buildup into a choral chant + EDM trap mix that you just CANNOT expect; two things you never thought would fit together, yet they blend so damn perfectly. I can’t help but move when I hear it.
Mihoyo just keeps blowing my expectations out of the water... like DAMN... this theme and fight was excellent, and just like La Signora's theme in Genshin, learning the meanings to the lyrics added a whole new level of appreciation that even brought tears to my eyes.
The way it goes in the third phase, battle as it's hardest and thickest yet it fills you with so much resolution and clarity. I was having trouble processing all that had happened, Tingyun specially, but I was so emboldened at this point, and given so much peace, the path for victory so clear even through the fury and sorrow.
Just being honest, this video and Wildfire were what got me to try Star Rail, cause I'm a music geek. Thanks for sharing it! Other people have pointed out the lyrics for each phase, and I love how it's also a mirror of the Xianzhou's story: Phase 1 a lament of mortality, Phase 2 the realization that even immortality is flawed, Phase 3 those blessed by Heaven and accepting their destiny will shine across the cosmos (i.e. following Lan/the Hunt is right and good).
If you're ever salty about giving your money to Hoyo and getting a garbage 5*, just remember that they reinvest large sums of their profit made off you back into their music department. You guys paid for this music
Also, from what I've read, the chanting in this piece is the Dong/Kam language from southeast China. A language that is in danger of going extinct. So if nothing else, some of it is now preserved in HSR.

Phantylia casually crushing us with the weight of star entering 2nd phase is insane lmao xD
Phantylia really looked like all of Xianzhou's species combined in one avatar.
This isn’t just a boss theme…It’s a goddamn SYMPHONY, fitting for the first Lord Ravager we actually get to take a crack at.
It's true but it seems she was weakened by the abroisel arbor
Phantylia during phase one and two : I sleep
Phantylia during phase three : gotta lock in.
3:15 these types of chanting is so hypnotic to listen to
The intro to the first track is amazing but the second track is my favourite overall. Ill be bumping these in the gym nonstop when they release on Spotify 😅
I love how this fight you cannot let jing down like he's the most important power in this fight
Neighbours are gonna think im summoning a demon 😭😭
2:05 ohhh i love this part
Yeah, part 2 is the best one
This really makes me remember Monster Hunter Rise's Mizutsune theme. I bet you can slap this theme onto that monster with some mods and you'll be humor to see how it suits so well!
Yup same here, mizutsune theme hits so hard like this theme
Phase 2 is sooooo fucking good. The intro is great, and then everything from the build up all the way through the drop to the very end of the song is just 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 the other two phases themes are great too, but I can’t get over how fucking insane that part is. Such an amazing buildup into a choral chant + EDM trap mix that you just CANNOT expect; two things you never thought would fit together, yet they blend so damn perfectly. I can’t help but move when I hear it.
It always takes me longer to get through the second phase because when that beat hits my hands are up and my feet are moving
cringe😂😂😂
@@Graaf27you're cringe
That chanting during second phase is so fucking good
3:43 The synth and the chant🤝🔥
Mihoyo just keeps blowing my expectations out of the water... like DAMN... this theme and fight was excellent, and just like La Signora's theme in Genshin, learning the meanings to the lyrics added a whole new level of appreciation that even brought tears to my eyes.
Both are my favorites in their respective games
If cocolia give honkai impact vibes this ost gives high genshin vibes especiqlly lyue and azhdaha vibes
This is so MUCH MORE my thing that Wildfire. More of these please ♥
1:58 this gave me goosebumps
1:34 your normal yunjin
1:58 your goth yunjin
4:44 your pyro yunjin (cuz phase 3 is as lit as 2)
Such beautiful art and music. Can't wait to see them get into bigger and bigger games!
I think this is the best music HoyoMix ever created, so much creativity and everything is perfect.
not really, it's good but honkai 3 and genshin have better ones
It's the best to me also, wayyy better to other games, i have played both HI3 Genshin and HSR, this is by far the most badass boss theme
“The weeds in my lawn give me more grief”
Best use of foreshadowing ever
Listening to this at the HSR Concert livestream hits so hard
god i remember when it prompted me to use Dan Heng's ult as SOON as 3:15 hit
same here!
2:34 still gives me goosebumps even after 1 year after release
First, Authority then secondly, Intimidation and now the third, Anger.
I just noticed that you can hear the Xianzhou leitmotif at the end of phase 2 and the middle of phase 3.
I love the string instrumental at 2:06 it’s so amazing…
Hearing phase two at 2:47 and thinking about dan heng IL unleashing his ultimate attack is epic
I swear if both Belobog AND The Xianzhou Luofu's final boss themes are this good i cannot wait for Penacony's
It's giving 'kimetsu no yaiba ost' vibes
and i'm here for it
Fr
I didn't even realize the song have 3 phases, i should enjoy the music more than focusing not to die 😂
I could honestly see this music fitting perfectly in monster hunter
imagine something like this on a shara ishvalda fight, but another type of shara, one that actually succeeded in devouring the lifestream
3:50 the strength in the choir being backed by the synth is just so satisfying
Truly the music company at its peak
The 3rd phase of this songs gives me chills every time, I love it
Yes, same
Crazy that nobody's talking about this part 4:58
Literally music to my ears
I would die to see this live 😭. Still my favorite boss soundtrack even after finishing penacony.
Uhm there's actually a live version of this. Just search it up.
this is better than wildfire idc
Im very obsessed with this theme. If i keep playing and dancing i might summon something from the dark side.
3:15 "Time to get serious!"
@@Gwenyvier its sad. Lots of chinese language r struggling to b preserve, im trying my best to learn my own dialect from my parents now. Bt its happening everywhr, cultures r always dying n evolving to a new 1.
Its so good i cried hearing the song and get hyped at the same time. never happened to me before
The song in the third phase really synch. My struggle to keep my characters alive (just spamming all skills to attack while my loucha passive is active)
Honestly ever single boss fight song is fire for this game
THE WEEDS IN MY GARDEN CAUSE ME MORE GRIEF!
I can’t even play honkai since my device storage is all taken up by genshin, but I can’t wait to hear this banger in game ‼️‼️
3:15 gave me CHILLS BRO I HAD TO TURN THE MUSIC UP WHILE FIGHTING FUCKK ITS SO GOOD THE CHANTINGNGNGG
The violin is amazing and fits in so well omg.
Idk if the comments mention this one though here we go.
Step 1: fight Phantylia until you reach her second phase.
Step 2: turn off the music.
Step 3: stay idle for a long time.
You’re welcome.
By far, one of my favorite boss fight
Never played honkai star rail before.
But, when I hear this. This is really remind me to Hell's Paradise(Jigokuraku). It's like Lord Tensen's boss theme.
This song has so many absolutely phenomenal parts. Mine favorite is 5:04 - 5:30. Literall tears.
Phase 2 is my favorite of the entire OST. It's my theme music at the Express.
