Just found out my Wedding theme song(Phase 3) that we will use on our wedding day. 34 year old HSR player here. It moves us to tears every time we hear it.
I'm going to stop you right there. The story was good, it's not a masterpiece. The patch is dead after 1 week with Boothill elevating things very briefly. The music is amazing though I agree.
man the plot twist at the end was so crazy, throughout the whole "endfight" i had a feeling things were going to quickly and without any consequences for us and then that....
People complaining about Phase 3 OST has to be illiterate to not understand the point of the entire trailblazing journey in Penacony so far. The entire 2.0 - > 2.2 has all been about imprisonment and breaking those shackles. Whether physical, metaphorical, or emotional; everyone in Penacony is _chained down and locked in their own cages, either made by themselves, or by others._ The power struggle between Order/Harmony is quite literally shown in a black/white fashion between Robin and Sunday, and it's even represented in the boss fight. The Orchestra representing the Order's strangle hold onto people's hopes and future, and it _is indefinitely silenced out_ on Phase 3 under the Harmony of everyone striving for a better future for themselves, and passing on the torch of hope to others into the future. This entire journey, even before _the current Astral Express_ arrives at Penacony has always been passing that torch of hope/freedom/dreams to the future generations, and all of their efforts/suffering have finally come to fruition at the end of 2.2, beautifully represented with Robin singing a song about striding forward, and holding onto hope _with everyone coming into harmony with one another_ To play another Orchestral piece at Phase 3, and us beating it doesn't hold any narrative weight outside of "We beat the bad guy with force". The complete song change shows that we didn't just win the battle, but we were also able to show why the path of "Order" that the Family/Sunday is taking is wrong, and in the end we were able to change/free Sunday's perspective about how he approaches his life.

The music in phase 3 made me want to get up and start dancing like I was in a Disney channel coming of age movie and say how we’re going to defeat him with the power of friendship
I absolutely love the initial choral arrangement of the Penacony theme, it really says: "This is it. This is what it has all been building up to. Prove your ideals."
Everyone's talking about Part 3 but honestly Part 1 is also a banger of it's own especially the lead up starting at 0:30 if anyone played Monster Hunter Sunbreak, it somehow reminds me of fighting that vampiric Elder Dragon Malzeno with that regal orchestra
At first, I took a vindictive satisfaction in how Acheron's ult slashed through the BGM and effectively "silenced" the choir. And then Phase 3 happened and I was like I'M SORRY ROBIN every time Acheron ulted lmao
Don't really get people who hate Robin's song, feels like they've never played a Jrpg before, it's really a JRPG Trope, just that the song is now in English
@@faturramadhani4770They hate it as it and I quote a commend here. “Breaks the flow and just does not feel right with a pop like song in a fight that represents Disharmony. You don’t need to understand music to know that disharmony just means that two keys are fighting for dominance. So a Pop compared to Sunday his intimidating OST reflects the disharmony perfectly.
Yup, it’s tiring to see most people thought “JRPG boss must be symphonic opera” with down to being standardizing FF7 and Dark Souls as a benchmark. But to people who actually played most JRPG knows that some bosses actually use Pop, Alt Rock, EDM, and Metal with vocals. Most notably FFXIV for having several genres from Rock to EDM used as boss and raid theme.
Maruki 🤝 Sunday : Also sacrificing themselves into an eternal state of suffering for sustaining such utopia (I dunno about Madara I stopped Naruto dozens of years before that)

Hoyo has done it before so I was so disappointed. Then we talk to Black Swan and piece everything together and it’s just incredible. The TRUE fight was so fun, and this music was awesome.

the phase 3 hit me like a truck, i love it!!!! it didnt hit as hard as wildfire cocolia but its definitely there, didnt feel a thing on luofu fight but this one.... when the song kick in + yeeting the express? oh yes it feels like anime final fight with opening song blaring
Phase 3 on its own is a typical pop song. But when you actually play the game, listen to the stories, immerse yourself in the power struggle and learn both sides, the lyrics of the song hit so much harder and the fight shines that much greater than any “badass” song could accomplish in that moment. A cool, badass song would NOT be able to do what the phase 3 song did at that climax of the story. This boss fight is far more memorable than the cool, badass fight against Phantylia, and even if you hate this song, I guarantee this fight is STILL taking a greater precedence in your mind than the Phantylia boss fight. There is far more at stake, the stories are told far better, and the resolution is just plain satisfying. Is it a song you’d listen to all the time? No. Not for everyone. But it’s a song that needed to be heard as an ode of hope when the entire story prior was bleak.
Luofu storyline is so weird, they throw an bunch of words that I honestly never understood and never cared to learn the meaning, an boss fight and an plot twist that was never hinted, TB being almost irrelevant to the story even tho it appeared that they was going to be important and so on. Comparing it to Penacony its like comparing an grenade to an nuclear bomb
This song singlehandedly planted Pennaconny as one of my favorite fictional words of all time. The whole story between sunday and robin. The harmony and the order. Acheron, Aventurine, hell even Dr, Ratio. Everyone and Everything just felt so expertly crafted. This arc was one of the greatest stories i've ever got to enjoy playing. I seriously cant wait for the future of this game!
Was not expecting this fight to be on this scale, absolutely blown away by it, and it was challenging for me personally. Cant wait to see what they have in store
I love how Robin's song is there, its like power change, that in the first phases its like Sunday's overwhelming power giving the feeling of there is no chance for victory, the music kind of shows our desperate struggle against such power, and then Robin appears, and the table turns, now the overwhelming atmosphere is gone, and instead we have something with hope, and power, now we are the stronger, and with the Horizon's echo from afar ultimate voice lines, it really gives this dramatic final boss vibe... HOYO GOATED IT AGAIN!!!
I love this boss fight for the technical highfalutin grandioseness of part 1 contrasted with the pop-py but emotional 'simplistic' song of Robin. I like them both for different reasons. That theyre both experienced next to each other is on purpose. You have sunday's declaration of an endless weekend for every sentient being in the universe, then you have the answer of the WILL OF THE WEAK. Peak boss experience. Penacony was super good.
Dude I was ready to throw stones when the fight ended abruptly with the Dan Heng and General team up and the whole "everything worked out fine for everyone" ending, it gave me major Inazuma garbage vibes from Genshin. The game then proceeded to completely blow my mind with how things developed and with this theme blasting on the background. They really outdid themselves.
I'm surprised at the amount of people that played the game and still say Robin's part kills it. I mean, sure, if you consider the whole bossfight music a single piece and ignore the context, it breaks the theme of the previous part and that can feel like it doesn't fit. In that sense, as a standalone thing, it doesn't work. But, if you consider the context, that change IS the whole point. When Robin appears, she's directly doing that, she's taking away Sunday's place as the centerpiece of the Charmony festival. The theme changes completely because it's going from one character and it's ideals to another. It's the first bossfight where the music is integrated into the narrative, thanks to the festival being the "stage" of the bossfight. One could argue that maybe the change should have been more subtle... but I disagree. The first part is Sunday, with it's whole ideology and beliefs, with it's religious tones. It sounds like a church (with the modern tones because HSR is still a futuristic setting) because that is how Sunday sees what he's doing. It's a religious act. Robin's, on the other hand... it's just her. It's basically the same thing, but where Sunday sounds like a grandiose religious choir, Robin is just singing in the way she likes. If she kept the same choir-like music, or the church-like feeling, it wouldn't be Robin. It had to be the kind of song she usually sings to completely override Sunday. If anything, the fact that there's a base that does keep the same pace (that "clapping" on the background) is keeping some coherence even through that abrupt change is a good way to "mix" both themes while keeping each one's personal identity completely separated. Again, that's following the narrative, the background is the same, but the dominant figure of the scene has changed. I'm not trying to say those who don't like it are wrong, we all have our opinions, but I honestly think that given the context of the fight it actually makes total sense. I'm just surprised to see so many people who disagree.
@@Wuwuhsr Thank you for reading it. Honestly, when I write these things I do it mostly for myself, people don't usually take their time to read such long comments (and I can't blame them).
IMO the best scenario would be in case they had the same base motif, but different genres. After all, they shared their beginning of the story, but chose different paths later in their lives. A perfect example of what I'm saying is "Ballad of buck ravers" and "Rebel Path". Signature guitar riff from first one is the same melody that's being played by violin in the later. It's the same character after all. But in case of "Rebel Path" - less rockstar and more a fighter. So yeah, I don't mind Robin's song is completely different from Sunday's, it make's sense. But it would have even more sense if there were some subtle similarities at the very core, signaling that they might be similar in case Sunday wouldn't go bananas on his Order thingy.
IF SOMEBODY WANT "HOPE IS A THING WITH FEATHERS" IN PIANO VERSION FOR YOUR TRAIN: Go to your turntable in the astral express and search the song called "Morns Like These". There's it, piano version for everybody, I didn't expect that this song could sound so amazing and hopeful 😢
This boss really gave me The Final Day and With Hearts Aligned vibe from FFXIV's "Final" Main story quest boss fight. An epic song with the game's motif encompassing your journey to this fight followed with a theme song for YOU the player that's in usually in an upbeat or a melody that's uplifting and empowering.
So throughout the adventures in Penacony certain cutsceans sometimes have a raven (I assume it is) is looming around. Seeing any type of birds in dreams plays a different role within your subconscious mind like for example seeing an owl represents knowledge and intelligence. Seing a raven in your dream can represents betrayal, disharmony, misfortune, and even death. This followed Sundays motives really well since he'd betrayed his sister to follow his true order.
I really enjoy the phase 3 because it gives the vibes that we'll end this fight soon (while facing against ultimate attack from the boss) and then have a good ending. I'm talking about the childhood feelings, just like when we watch the protagonist beating the bad guys. Its in Penacony after all, the land of dreams, bringing some childhood memories.
My favorite thing about this boss battle is how EVERYONE in the Astral Express Crew comes together for this fight. Unlike the last two when we were split into 2 groups where only TB's Group were the ones to fight. This was a team effort on everyone's part in the name of Harmony. Even Pom-Pom was technically involved. As they were the one that was probably railing Sunday with the train. XD
my impression was that the train was an "echo" created by Robin, in the little 'planning phase' scene she says she will sing to channel the will of the Trailblaze

People complaining about Phase 3 OST has to be illiterate to not understand the point of the entire trailblazing journey in Penacony so far.
The entire 2.0 - > 2.2 has all been about imprisonment and breaking those shackles. Whether physical, metaphorical, or emotional; everyone in Penacony is _chained down and locked in their own cages, either made by themselves, or by others._
The power struggle between Order/Harmony is quite literally shown in a black/white fashion between Robin and Sunday, and it's even represented in the boss fight.
The Orchestra representing the Order's strangle hold onto people's hopes and future, and it _is indefinitely silenced out_ on Phase 3 under the Harmony of everyone striving for a better future for themselves, and passing on the torch of hope to others into the future.
This entire journey, even before _the current Astral Express_ arrives at Penacony has always been passing that torch of hope/freedom/dreams to the future generations, and all of their efforts/suffering have finally come to fruition at the end of 2.2, beautifully represented with Robin singing a song about striding forward, and holding onto hope _with everyone coming into harmony with one another_
To play another Orchestral piece at Phase 3, and us beating it doesn't hold any narrative weight outside of "We beat the bad guy with force".
The complete song change shows that we didn't just win the battle, but we were also able to show why the path of "Order" that the Family/Sunday is taking is wrong, and in the end we were able to change/free Sunday's perspective about how he approaches his life.
A lot of people just skip the story

🔥WITNESS🔥THE WILL🔥OF THE PEAK🔥

Phase 3 feels like the voice of Robin and whole *Harmony* followers to us!
I never felt flabbergasted to such great music
THIS^^^
finally a valid point but welp everyone has different preferences
Your point so far makes more sense. Thanks for the investment of your time writing this review!
Me in Phase 3 : Eyyy this song is FIRE!!! 😭🙏🏻

They didnt go anti climatic this is just because they broke the fight in to two one where you fail then where you have robin backing you up
Sunday Mewing the entire fight was peak 🗿👆

how does every phase theme just get better and better
That Phase 3 was amazing, Sunday going through the days of the week and Robin was singing against that. Was poetic and a great climax to the fight
The raven actually not Sunday's own raven. It was The Dreammaker's raven.
PEAKNACONY 🗣️🗣️🔥🔥🔥🔥
Idk why I got one winged angel rebirth vibes from the choir they used.
Either that or the FF7 brain rot is really getting to me after rebirth
