I love how most of Star Rail's boss themes are just so grand that it reflects the scale of what we're actually fighting literally and figuratively. Just listening to it will already tell you you're facing someone/something many times bigger than you.
Especially Sunday here. The High Priest of the Family of Harmony seized/possessed one of the Emanators of Harmony, becoming a demigod. Then, becoming the last/first Emanator of Order? He was NOT kidding with his whole 'becoming a god' motif. Dude even started talking about the seven days of creation.
IMO what makes Hope is the Thing with Feathers work so well is that it is just so *aggressively* positive and upbeat, to the point that it’s infectious and irresistible Prior to that moment we’d been listening to Sunday/Septimus yapping on and on about Order and Harmony and yada yada yada for like, at least 20 straight minutes And then Robin shows up out of nowhere like “no shut up that’s dumb, this is our world” and then Septimus gets run over by a train It’s impossible to not get hyped up, even if it’s in a vastly different way than e.g. Wildfire

Dan Heng: "You have a noble soul... Don't be shackled by the past!" March 7th: "Even if the future is full of pain... we won't escape from it!"
This, is the truth of the Path of Trailblaze. Offering a hand to anyone in need. Even an enemy... especially a man who is doing the wrong thing for the right reasons. "We rise together. As our destiny unfolds. We face the darkness and our trials are yet untold."
Dan Heng's EN version absolutely didn't make sense to me -- "Is he talking about the souls in Penacony?" -- until I read a translation of the JP version and realized that Dan Heng was addressing Sunday and telling the latter to not give into the darkness that formed in his noble heart.
i will forever continue to yap about the golden hour theme being partially used for this because its such a cool thing that game developers do!! using a recurring theme in the game for a boss (I guess golden hour isn't really recurring but Golden Hour is what i associate the surface of penacony with, Hollow Knight is a great game that does something like this though! Many many boss osts are reminiscent of the menu theme)
It's even cooler considering that the Golden Hour is described as the Moment where it never becomes tomorrow, it's forever right before midnight (or something like that, I don't remember the exact quote). This "eternal happiness" is literally Sunday's ideal and the reason why he did what he did. Edit: The Penacony Grand Theater OST (City Upon a Hill) also has the same Golden Hour motif and is directly connected to Sunday through - well, not only the fact that it's the location of the boss fight - but it's also the OST used in Aventurine's character demo where he's being questioned by Sunday while under the Harmony (/ Order?) curse.
The Golden Hour is probably the area you frequent the most in Penacony, so it's the closest thing to a recurring theme there is, and I liked that detail too.
The choral arrangement of the Golden Hour theme at the beginning of the fight is absolutely beautiful. It truly says: "This is it. This is a battle for Penacony itself. Prove that you can win."
This is the kind of experience i'm willing to pay money for. As long as they can keep bringing us this level of quality with the storytelling, beautiful music, each epic moment, the laughter and tears and just sheer emotion with it all... Thousands of dollars and absolutely worth every penny of it. Can't really say the same for Western games tho. *Cough* Ubisoft *Cough*.
It's surprising that after all these years of eldritch god monsters being the final boss of RPGs, I don't think any of them have ever been fought to an uplifting pop idol song before. It's nice, and wierdly subversive? The closest I can think of was another game called Stella Glow back on the 3ds, but that was more of a traditional anime opening-styled song.
The only other games I can think of like that are Splatoon (negative for eldritch horrors but positive for idol songs) and also Turnip Boy Commits Tax Evasion/Turnip Boy Robs a Bank All of which are fantastic games and every time the peppy idol song really seals the feeling of “this is a victory lap, your enemy has already lost”
Endwalker vibes. Fighting the Endsinger, representing the entropic death of the universe. She's throwing planets at you, collapsing reality. Her music is playing hard. Then phase change, basically ultimate limit break... the track changes to With Hearts Aligned/Maker's Ruin, OUR boss music. And the tide turns against her.
The first time I tried this fight, I thought I could cheat through it with Aventurine's Shields, but eventually got overwhelmed in the second stage. But the second time, I realized that that was literally against the philosophy of the battle, relying on one person to generate Shield, when the party should've been working together to generate it through attacking the boss... The fact that that narrative, the idea that you need the party to work together in *harmony* to overcome an overwhelming *order,* and it's *baked into the gameplay;* I can barely put into words. I love that despite Sunday’s extremely distorted view of reality, he still wants what’s best for Penacony at the end of the day and wants to give the player a chance He’s filled with the power of Order after all, he could probably obliterate us with a thought, but that would just reinforce the notion that Order is a tyrant that crushes dissent

It's criminal they didn't include the overture version in the Echo of War. It gave that final fight a lot more 'shifting momentum' vibe... from the orchestral choir of Order, to the hopeful pop of Harmony.
They kinda fumbled the Echo of War music ngl, phase 1 should've been Infirma Nostri and shifts to Symphony No. 8 ' A Thousand Suns' during phase 2, and then halfway through phase 2 Hope is the Thing With Feathers (Overture) plays. And phase 3 is just as it is
Penacony leitmotif White Night leitmotif which are both the main themes of the update can be found within this final peak boss fight One shows the grandness of the Order, and the Other shows the beauty of Harmony
The whole fight's OST reminded me of how they executed Vita / Sa Boss Fight on Honkai Impact 3rd with the same choir-like theme that makes you feel fighting a being of High Order aside from them being a God on their own fields / territory. And yes, this is actually quite similar to Herrscher of Dominance boss fight in a way with the same setting of battlefield being in a theatre, Sasuga Shaoji-sama (just don't let him cook or else he'll kill someone for real LMAO).
One of my top fave boss themes! Flawless. The intro before we begin the fight with Sunday gave me Nier Automata vibes with all the puppets strung together.
is it just me who is the only one called him "God of Music"? Just look at him, he had some backup that looked like Angels or Lesser Angels to back him up. The weird thing is where the final phase, where there's a FUCKEN GODDESS aid him in battle! It wasn't the puppet, IT"S EMA HERSELF!!!
Sunday theme goes hard I don't even bother listening to his sister part bruh but its cool that they added melody touches from his sis since shes an idol. But his theme is just perfect it really depicts divinity!
Yet, the real world relies upon the set of rules which dictate certain restrictions, thus ensuring one can remain free and independent by creating order everyone has to adhere to. Quite ironically, thank god we live by rule of law, and not by hoping the strong would be kind. As much as I love Robin, she's far too idealistic.
Order was necessary when everything was chaos - shown by the fact that the Order Aeon was Akavili the Trailblaze's friend. But order can evolve into harmony.
1:53 i just noticed (a part from the fact this song is FIRE) is this is the same ost as the one in Aventurine's character teaser where the order was dominating the video (When Sunday was trying to read Aventurine's past)- and Aventurine basically rejects it with the ending "f it, we ball"
Ngl, I feel like symphony No. 8 and infirma norstri corporis should be flipped in play order, as the symphony’s start sounds like the beginning while it’s end also sounds like it’s paving the way for the next movement.
I love the fact that Robin basically hijacked her brother's concert with a different tone of music
Robin : Get outta the stage, bro ! The light is mine !
Robin going like: let me show how to destroy good music with the power of love
Literally the crow singing over the bird meme but reversed.
It makes sense. The choir singing as one shows the power of the Order. But then here comes Robin with actual Harmony, the power of flowing beautifully together will defeat the hardline constructed perfection
"The first and last disharmony in Penacony" as said by Welt himself
My mind can't handle that we go from intense orchestra to a hopeful idol concert for this boss fight theme.

can be found within this final peak boss fight
One shows the grandness of the Order, and the Other shows the beauty of Harmony
Ok who thought it would be a good idea to put Electric Guitars in an orchestra house. Because hell they can and it's cool af🔥🔥🔥🔥
I am glad i avoid all spoiler to get into this. Never ever feel goosebumps when Robin start singing
Congrats on 50k!!! Thank you for always uploading HSR bgms~ Hoping to see more of your growth and more bgms to discover
I wonder what Sunday's trailer will sound like
“DISORDERLY NOISE!!!”
why is … nobody resonating(
The whole fight's OST reminded me of how they executed Vita / Sa Boss Fight on Honkai Impact 3rd with the same choir-like theme that makes you feel fighting a being of High Order aside from them being a God on their own fields / territory.
And yes, this is actually quite similar to Herrscher of Dominance boss fight in a way with the same setting of battlefield being in a theatre, Sasuga Shaoji-sama (just don't let him cook or else he'll kill someone for real LMAO).
That's probably the reason Himeko had the "Dream"
진짜 게임하면서 오랜만에 소름 돋았음
The piano solo at the end broke the dam 😢
Man, I rly wish they still said the voice lines when you fight this boss as a weekly. I really need to hear himeko's "THIS! IS THE WILL OF THE WEAK!"
It’s just… so peak… 😭
Penacony's first and last disharmony
I hope sunday no die
I hope he becomes playable one day
I hope he becomes a playable character, definitely not harmony, but maybe the hunt or erudition
SPOILERS!!!
: he becomes a stellaron hunter after imprisonment
@@meowzers-fi8fy I meaaaaannn
up to this point Stellaron hunters are becoming playable soooo
SPOILERS
After falling he contracts ligma and sadly dies
That last part felt like a mashup between this song and A Million Dreams/From Now On in The Greatest Showman
my favourite part of the song is where Sunday shouts out "DISORDERLY NOISE"
Sunday: *exists*
MY BABY BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY-
Great job getting 50k and I can't get the idea out of my head that Pom Pom driving the Express 1000 MPH into Sunday during the fight
This OST so majestic 😭
You did a really great job blending the themes together!
Sunday is actually a very likeable "Bad guy".
He's not a villain he's misguided
Good lord the last one never fails to make me cry
Pom pom:HERE COMES THE ASTRAL EXPRESS
Sunday:OH FUDGE
WITNESS, THE WILL OF THE WEAK!
Can we talk about the fact that Sunday did the Otto pose at 0:06
They're so tiny, I couldn't see a thing
@@emd4682that’s cause the timeframe is wrong. It’s more at 0:04
god this bossfight is so fucking hype, the overture kicks in and your team gets healed is awesome
Witness.
The boot of the hill
10:30 this scene and the ost playing will always be special to me
One of my top fave boss themes! Flawless. The intro before we begin the fight with Sunday gave me Nier Automata vibes with all the puppets strung together.
HEAD UP!THE WHEELS ARE SPINNIG ACROSS THE PLAINS IN VALLEY DEEPS
is it just me who is the only one called him "God of Music"? Just look at him, he had some backup that looked like Angels or Lesser Angels to back him up. The weird thing is where the final phase, where there's a FUCKEN GODDESS aid him in battle! It wasn't the puppet, IT"S EMA HERSELF!!!
This boss wrecked my ass for 3 weeks, i have been humbled.
Sunday theme goes hard I don't even bother listening to his sister part bruh but its cool that they added melody touches from his sis since shes an idol. But his theme is just perfect it really depicts divinity!
It's So Brilliant Yet Comical That The Astral Express Is A Stratagem In This Climatic Battle
Order brings peace through restrictions, but harmony brings peace through unison,
Peace form from people willing to follow, not forced apon.
Yet, the real world relies upon the set of rules which dictate certain restrictions, thus ensuring one can remain free and independent by creating order everyone has to adhere to.
Quite ironically, thank god we live by rule of law, and not by hoping the strong would be kind. As much as I love Robin, she's far too idealistic.
that's why harmony ate order
Order was necessary when everything was chaos - shown by the fact that the Order Aeon was Akavili the Trailblaze's friend. But order can evolve into harmony.
Despite being a gacha game this is one of the most well constructed and downright HYPE bosses i've ever seen.
When the music gives us 2 aeons fighting via vibes, you know it hits diff
FROM BREAK AND RUIN THE MOST BEAUTIFUL PERFORMANCE BEGINS‼‼🔥🔥🔥🔥
Chorus 1 ( Overture ) 4:49 / Chorus 2 ( Overture ) 5:49
6:31 best one😭🥰
Chorus 1 7:46 / Chorus 2 8:46 / before the final chorus 9:17, Final Chorus 9:46
Hoyo and electric guitars 😩🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
I can not stop crying...
Robin's song may not be to my taste, but god damn did it go hard during the fight itself.
50k?? let's gooo
Thank you for this, Pom pomಥ‿ಥ
Thanks for the assist, Pom-Pom!
Congrats on 50k!!
Robin basically said: "Bro, your music sucks"
Vtuber over classical music bro
Imagine if western AAA studios put in 10% of this effort into the soundtrack
SUNDAY MEWING WITH THIS ONE 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Let's go!
I get chills every time i hear this song
"Why... Is everybody silent !"
I don't know. Pitch Dark Hook the Great, Welt, and Imaginary TB seems to be a sufficient reason
그 쥰나 멀리서 어렴풋이 들리는 극장 브금도 그렇고 이렇게 웅장한 합창곡에도 페나코니 메인브금 멜로디 끼워넣는거 너무좋음ㅜㅜ
Give me "Dancing Mad" vibes.
Vibe of this boss theme in final part to me is so similar to the vibe of chorus of the song «Grand Escape» from movie «Weathering With You»
1:53 i just noticed (a part from the fact this song is FIRE) is this is the same ost as the one in Aventurine's character teaser where the order was dominating the video (When Sunday was trying to read Aventurine's past)- and Aventurine basically rejects it with the ending "f it, we ball"
Ngl, I feel like symphony No. 8 and infirma norstri corporis should be flipped in play order, as the symphony’s start sounds like the beginning while it’s end also sounds like it’s paving the way for the next movement.
6:24 Caelus looks sooooooo goooddddd here omg TT my baby angel
I have never been so into a song, only to be taken out so fucking fast, holy shit
