Beautiful soap as always. I'm a monk at a monastery in fl. I've been making soap for around 6 months. It is now part of our revenue. Became addicted to soap making since day 1. Thanks for all the videos, you truly are an artist.

You are a pro! I have being studding your videos to get better on soap design, I was always in love of soap since I bought some Lush soaps. And I started at least 1 year ago to study every video on soapqueen, your channel, books and others soap makers around the globe. I wish soon I will perfectionated design and formulation on my 7 first soap to start a business. I wish people will take advantage of what different oils and butters can do for skin and have a luxurious smells on their morning/night bath; for me is an important part of taking care of ourself and family. Thanks for sharing your knowledge I really appreciate it, hopefully one they I can send you my soaps for your enjoyment 😉 😊. I definitely going to check out the blog.

I made my first soap about 6 years ago, only making a couple batches a year until 2019 when I started making more to give away and to sell. I now have people who ask for my soap. I love watching your videos, they are really helpful. It's close to actually making it myself, it gives me a feel for the different techniques. My goal is to have my bars as clean and perfect as yours.

Love this technique! I have been soaping 7 years, started my company at 63 and soon will be 70. I make a ton of soap but I keep the my special techniques to a minimum because of time and the quantity I need to make but I love finessing but that is hard to do on 12 pounds of soap at a go. Love your videos.

I’m a soaper. I’ve sold to friends, but I’m retired and don’t want a business at this point in my life, so now I just make soap for family. I’ve been soaping for 7 years now. I started making soap as a way to deal with the grief of losing my Dad to cancer. I was his in home hospice caregiver and I was exhausted physically and emotionally after he died. I’ve always loved chemistry (science) and also creative and artistic things so soap making was a natural fit for me. I really enjoy your videos. They are informative, insightful and concise. Keep up the good work. I get a lot of inspiration from you.

I'm so sorry about your dad. (My dad died of cancer too. I took up soap making two years later and often wondered what he would think.) It is an artistic outlet for me. I have an art background, but I love science too. I believe we have a lot in common. Enjoy your soap making, Teresa! 🤗💝

For some reason I thought about TH-cam this morning and I got all excited about soaps. You need to do a Bob Ross themed soap and in his style... "how about a little charcoal onyx obsidian ink black right here... makes a happy comfy cozy shadow to hide with you glass of wine at 10 o'clock in the morning."

    Beautiful work!
I have been making soap since 2006. I purchased a soap making book in 1997 after the birth of my first child..Although the craft intrigued me, the complexity of the process intimidated me at the same time. I was 24.
After the birth of my second child in 2005, my mother gifted me a soap making kit for Christmas. I made my first batch and couldn’t believe that I had actually made soap! Took me ten years and an encouraging nudge from my mom... the rest is history. It has only been recently that I have stepped back into the craft more steadily.
There are so many creative options now available now to the soap maker. New and ever evolving techniques, improved color choices and fragrances, etc.
I love the opportunity to see the creativity flow in other soap makers. It is greatly appreciated that you take the time to share your creativity with the rest of us. Not only is your work artistically inspiring but enjoyable to watch! Thank you 😊

Thank you so much, Pamela! I have a similar story. I learned about soap making in 1998 and got everything to make it, and I was scared to try it. I gave it up for more than twenty years. This is the time to be a soap maker. There wasn't much information available back then, and the internet was just getting started. Good thing your mom encouraged you! Great story! 💕

I've dipped into soaping a month ago now. Made 5 batches (only 2 of which fully cured), tweaking the recipe and learning how to distinguish trace and manage acceleration - most of my fragrance oils have caused speedy acceleration, so it's been a discouraging learning process. I watch videos like yours to motivate myself through the learning curve. There's cool stuff to be done once I've got the basics worked out.

    • @dkarmstrong31
      @dkarmstrong31 ปีที่แล้ว

Someone told me fragrance oils from hobby stores cause this. Try buying essential oils online. They don’t accelerate the process.

I love your colours, I live on the edge of the sea and they are so close to true life sea colours. Beautiful soap. I just looked at all the entries in the pointy layers and there are some absolutely beautiful soaps in the Competition

These soaps were super pretty. Looking forward for those confetti soaps.
I plan on making soap for the first time this month. Like anything, it's easy to get caught up in perfection and the tornado of new things that have to be acquired before performing the actual task. Space is needed and not always available. Space to store soaping equipment, make the soap, and curing areas. I'll also have to lock up my pets. Trying to find relevant information for my specific needs that is more fact based and less anecdotal takes time. I then have to check with my ever changing understanding of soap making. Example: I have hard water. That was never discussed in any videos I've seen. So I will have to try different chelators to see what I prefer. I don't have the hardest water, so I am going with citric acid (plus its lack of environmental impact and lower cost). This means I also have to figure out how much and how to add it through various forums. Sourcing equipment and ingredients can take a lot of time and money. It's alluring to do too much too soon. There are many other reasons, but this is a starting point. A lot of this is specific to me. I want to have a good bit of understanding before going into something that requires time, money, and space is all.

    • @TreeMarieSoapworks

Pam, I use distilled water for my water. That is because it has no minerals in it. Hard water can cause orange spots in soap. I also have heard of people collecting rainwater to make soap. Distilled water is only 88 cents for a gallon here. That lasts a long time. Are you on Facebook? My group would be a great place to ask questions like that. 😊

    • @ofthebeanvariety

I've made soap only once so far (cold process soap 95% olive oil, 5% coconut oil). I've learned a lot from Elly's Everyday TH-cam channel because her videos are more for beginners. Your videos are so inspiring. Sometimes I think it's too much work for me, but sometimes I think I might like to try it in a simplified version. I live in Israel so shipping of supplies from the US/Europe is expensive and takes time to arrive (there are some shops here but they don't have everything and I'm not sure if the price and quality are the same), and I don't want to buy (or make) more than I use, so I'm taking it slow. I got into soapmaking after learning to make some other skincare products - I like knowing how to make things myself and I'm trying to consume less mass produced products and package-heavy and disposable products if possible. I really enjoy your channel and I'm learning a lot from your videos :-)

You can make probably fine enough local ingredients. Is your soap pretty soft? That is a lot of olive oil. That may take quite some time to cure. They can be kind of slimy. Maybe there are other soap makers that can help you find ingredients. Are you on Facebook? Did you join my group? Saponification Nation is another great group where you can ask questions. That is great that you are trying to use less packaging. I'm glad you are learning! 😘💕 I have made some written tutorials for Elements Bath and Body. I have been making CP soap for a couple of months, after quite some time of learning the theoretical side of it of course. Currently taking a break as I'm waiting for some materials to get shipped to me and waiting to try out my last batches to assess and tweak. I don't have fancy supplies, so far almost all my soap is uncolored and most of it unscented, mostly made in pringle cans and milk cartons, cut with a knife. So I'm a beginner, learning techniques, waiting to be able to try them myself once I find a soap recipe I really love.
I'm in your group too, which is wonderful, I get to see how experienced soapers create art and I aspire to do that too once day. Not sure if I will ever turn it into a business once I've gotten to that point, would be nice but may not be profitable where I live.

That is just fine, you don't need fancy equipment, colors or fragrances. There is beauty (and function) in a plain bar of soap. Take it as slow as you want. 💕

I think the gentler layers look great on the deeper blue -- makes it look like a cross-section of the ocean with slow, wide waves deeper down.

I loved your video. Your voice is so calming. I made soap many many years ago, when not many
people were doing it . There was not much info out there then (before computers!) so I struggled a lot
and supplies were hard to get. I am retired now so I have time to made soap again.
Thank you for your video. I love your technique.

In the late 90's I researched soap making and bought everything to make it, but I never did. The internet was just barely starting. There wasn't that much info out there. I picked it up 17 years later and I am so just love it! I'm glad you are getting back into it, Mary!

I’m a soap maker! I’ve been soap making for about two years off and on. I always wanted to try to gel my soap but I was kinda afraid until I started watching your videos. I use a wooden mold with a silicone liner and plexiglass lid from Nurture Soap. My oven actually holds heat really well and the oven light makes pretty warm in there, so I just use the oven light with that mold and the soap gels really well. Thank so much for the knowledge you contribute to the community! ❤️

I have just found your website and an LOVING your teachings and techniques. I have been making soap for around 15 years because I wanted a better product for my family and friends than commercial soap. So....I read for several weeks then made a basic batch and have been hooked ever since. :) I love to add milks, beer, purees, additives so I can offer more options and am always looking to improve my soap both in quality and in appearance. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge. I will continue to watch your videos and I will 'see' you on FB.

I love to watch you work. When i want to relax i watch your video's...!! .Can i ask.....what is that tool you use to "puff out" The charcoal? I have looked over all of your tools and colors but cannot find a name of the little "hand held mica applicator"; for the lack of a better description!! I hope it is ok to ask you this question. Thank you so much!! PS. I have been soaping for about 2 months now and have been so grateful for your videos and the time you put into teaching...Thank you again!!

Hi Teri, thank you for these informative/inspirational videos! New to soap-making since late Sept after coming back from overseas and bringing back a bunch of Castile soap. I have been focusing more on Olive/Coconut/Castor and have been happy with the outcome. Going to try other oils soon, but I have to say, the soap making bug has bitten! The science is great as I minored in chemistry, brings back memory's...
