    This is Moe on my wife's account. I used to have 5 hunting permissions just loaded with pigeons, starlings and sparrows. Then we had to move 2 hours south because of work and school for my children. It's like a barren wasteland where I live down here as far as hunting. But boy do I enjoy watching the content! Thank you for taking the time to film this and share it! It's very enjoyable!

      Hey, Moe. I really appreciate the comment, means a lot coming from a fellow-shooter 🙂 I'm sorry you can't shoot where you stay, brother... I know how this feels from experience. I'm glad I manage to entertain and I hope you get to go out and take some shots soon 👍 Stay tuned, brother, more videos coming very soon.

    Ha ha ha...at -12:30 minutes left in your video there is a chimney pipe “FULL OF WHOLES”! Ha ha ha OMG THATS HYSTERICAL MY DUDE!🤣😁😂👍🤙💯 You all shot the hell out of it! Ha ha ha. Now that’s something I would do just because I could! OMG I’m dying laughing! Thanks...I needed that!

    • @AirRifleActivities
      @AirRifleActivities  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Heath, there's no chimney at that time of the video, but I know which one you're referring to 🙂 I said in another video of mine - it wasn't us. There was a guy shooting at that permission with a Gamo break barrel and he caused a lot of damage. Same thing on my new permission, hence the multiple rules and warning by the management 😉 No matter where I go to ask for a permission, there's always been a guy before me who did some stupid things with a break barrel, hence the owners' unwillingness.

    Good video! Watching 68 Whiskey has convinced me that for "straight down" pigeons a shot into the craw above the breast is most effective. for side shot the POA would be just above the wing join. One shot, three pigeons, nice work.

      @AirRifleActivities  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      😄😄 Okay, you really cracked me up, bud 😄 There was a discussion not so long ago here in the comments section. Some people told me to never shoot whiteys because they're an easier pray for the raptors, so I was depriving the birds of prey of their sustenance 😄 A lot of hunters and other outdoor enthusiasts said that was a bunch of nonsense, of course 😉 So I was targeting those for a while just to "indulge" both parties 😉 Plus I told them I am a "man of prey" so I'm targeting those more easily too 😉 Thanks, friend 🤝

    Hopefully this October I will be purchasing a RTI PROPHET still deciding 22 CAL or 25 CAL what do you recommend my friend 💥

    • @AirRifleActivities
      @AirRifleActivities  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well, Phillip, as you probably know, the guys at RTI have come up with a LW barrel in .22 that's dedicated to shooting pellets at long ranges and high velocities. It's polygonal, has a slower twist rate and a wider choke - that's the magic behind it, as far as I know. They say JSB Monsters Redesigned 25.39 grains at up to 1030 fps. That's 60 fpe - more than the current power setting of my R5M 😉 If you take the Performance version with the externally adjustable hammer spring and reg, in .22 you'll get a wide range of power settings for different conditions - IF you're willing to play often with your power settings, that is. A .25 barrel with similar specs is still being developed, they tell me. So it's kinda hard to tell you what to choose... Perhaps a .22 with that polygonal LW of theirs would give you a gun that can act both as a .22 and .25, depending on the settings and the projectile you've chosen 😉 If you want to shoot slugs, RTI say go with the regular barrel they offer. In that case I'd go for .22 definitely - that's because in Europe the major manufacturers JSB and H&N offer slugs in .22 only so far, and it's very expensive and usually difficult to get the American and Russian brands of slugs. Plus JSB and H&N are taking too log to release their .25 slugs - call me paranoid, but think the reason is the development of those is not going so well... I hope this helps and I didn't bring further confusion to the equation 😉

    Hi, Alex ! ( You know, that is one seriously articulate cat you have there, right...?!?)
    ...OK...and then we go from the cat to [BANG} some strange kind of coffee-table art/sculpture/piece... like the BattleStar Gallactica grown out of a recently unearthed ground root....[ "... Was ist das für ein seltsames Ding?..."] ??? but wait...?...is that a barrel?... (seriously, is it? ...that shroud's thicker than Lilly Munster's... lol ).. and...aahhmmm... a trigger?...what's?....ooohhhhh...Nowww I see it....it's ...like... a puppy?!?...as in BULL-puppy....uuhhmm....this may be sacriligeous, but the more I gaze at that rifle, the more and more I start to chuckle....
    But seriously, I believe that this is the kind of video that really helps a channel grow, and promotes a sense of friendship and family. With you sharing the interesting ups-and-downs of creating/hosting (not sure of the right term) a channel like this, and getting the vids made and 'out there', it is FAR more interesting than a more 'edited' and 'polished' look at the channel. Your narrative style and slightly wry sense of humor are very engaging and enjoyable.
    I posted a comment on one of your vids recently, (not sure under which ID/time-of-day I was logged in as) but it concerned your review of a rifle (the Kricket II Tactical , I believe) and how it was interesting to see that you were as well- grounded in the mechanical side of the rifles as well as being a truly dedicated-to-quality shooter.
    I had also made a comment a month or so ago, about how hearing the wind thru the mic can really make your viewers feel like we're there with you! I believe that sense of "sharing it with us" is a big part of the reason folks come back to your channel, and I hope you maintain that AND the tech stuff AND the shooting vids AND the free give-a-ways AND the ...(uummmmm....wait, where was I??) ...as time goes on.
    May I make a small suggestion? Rather than that music from 16:00 or so onwards, how about just letting the sounds of the wind blow through? It won't have to synch with too much and it would fit the video better. Just a thought... lol
    Cheers!! :D

      David, first of all let me say I recall both these comments you're referring to 🙂 Comments like yours are quite hard to forget - comprehensive, well-grounded, scientific even, and full of analogies that are hard to come to mind, which is a good thing 🙂 I enjoy your posts no less than you enjoying the videos 🙂 So thank you both for watching and posting 🤝
      I'll consider your advice, but in all honesty a lot viewers are thrown off by the wind howling in the camera mic 🤷
      I keep telling my buddies that it's exactly what I'm trying to do in my vids - make the viewer feel as if he or she is there with me 🙂 If they wanted to watch another high tech episode of the Avengers full of visual effects, they'd go to the movie theater 😄 Cheers, buddy.

    What are the little Black dots in the bottom half of your scope?

    • @AirRifleActivities
      @AirRifleActivities  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey, Wayne🙂 Nice to have you watching, buddy. These are reference points for holdover and adjusting for wind. In other words, these help you aim in windy conditions and when shooting at distances longer then your zero, without the need to do turret tracking before every shot. Mine is a Mil reticle, so the distances between these dots are in Milradians.

    • @AirRifleActivities
      @AirRifleActivities  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks, Heath. I absutely agree with you. The soft lead deforms easily, so you can't count on the pellet maintaining its initial trajectory after the first impact.

      Air Rifle Activities I assure you that if I wasn’t using a JSB Redesigned pellet and would have been using a lighter pellet that shot would never have happened for me. The starlings were setting side by side on a wire, damn near touching each other. You never know what that pellet will do after it hits something. A bone or gravel in their crop could have sent it in another direction.

    I would think if you were to use a .22 caliber airgun at the distances you shoot you would have a lot more wounded

    USB power packs are the key to dead batteries. I modified a waterproof case to accept a charging lead so I could plug the charging lead in. OK it won't work underwater but it's fine even in heavy rain. Never suffered lack of power ever since. I use SJ4000 and SJ5000 cameras at a fraction of the cost of GoPro and pretty damn good they are too at what they do. Regardless of that I also have about 10 replacement batteries. I can tell you from experience that a pigeon does not fly away after being hit by a 300 win mag, just saying 🤣 What I am curious about is what would be your favourite Sky Rat caliber and why? I see a lot of people still using the old faithful .177 or the .22 and a few with the .25.

    • @AirRifleActivities
      @AirRifleActivities  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I honestly prefer the .25 or a heavy .22 projectile - bucks wind better and hits hard over long distances too, thus making it more versatile. That being said, if I'm indoors or shooting close range, I reduce the power level drastically. You can't do that with a .25, there's just not good light pellet in that cal. Better to have both 😄 .177? I always say it seems more of a competition caliber to me.
