@@k9black Ok but it's also extremely obvious that she knew. I had fun watching them, one of the few times an adult hasn't seen them before and it went just about perfect.
Vader telling Luke that he’s his father is the greatest plot twist in cinema history. It made people in the theater gasp in horror because Luke’s father and Darth Vader were thought of to be two different characters. At the time, there was no social media or spoilers so no one knew what to expect. Lucas kept it heavily under wraps where he’d intentionally write different lines in the script for every actor in order to keep it a secret. Only Mark Hamill and James Earl Jones knew it. Star Wars was the greatest thing about my childhood and seeing people’s reactions to this always brings me joy.
I saw this film on the first day of release in the theater, I was supposed to go to the first showing with a friend, but I didn't make it until the second showing. On the way in to the second showing of the film, my friend, on his way out of the first showing, saw me waiting in line and yelled out to EVERYONE "Darth Vader is Luke's Father!" Totally ruined it for me.
The great scene about the Yoda introduction, is that when you saw it in the theater you didn't know who Yoda was and actually thought he was just some crazy little character. But then he turns serious, and you realize he was testing Luke with the crazy creature act.
Every time you see someone new watch it the first time, you wonder if this is the time the effect is just not gonna hold up anymore and they won't be able to take him seriously. Then Yoda does his clown act and you get REALLY worried as they think "gosh Yoda is a lot goofier than I was expecting." Then....."I cannot teach him." The mood shift. A completely different character is revealed in an instant. I'm so glad Steph was yet another success for the legendary puppetry, voice acting and directing work in that scene :)
I love that there's basically four parties participating in the reveal at different speeds. There's Yoda who just makes a decision and drops the act. There's Obi-Wan who has been presumably "watching" silently this whole time responding to him a second later, agreeing it's time to put all the cards on the table. There's Luke, utterly bewildered, slowly putting it together. Then there's the audience who, if they were originals truly blind to the universe, might be figuring it out just before or just after Luke clarifies it, but in a pop culture world where they've probably seen Yoda before, are probably reorienting themselves to the "real Yoda" a little faster than Luke got there :)
Just remember kids , we as children and teens, had to wait , 2 years between these movies..no phones, internet , nothing but the theatre....2 years from Empire Strikes Back to Return of Jedi. All those questions ...2 years....lol❤😂...what a magical time to be a kid. ✌️
My mom tells me this constantly. Whenever we would watch Empire then just put in Jedi right afterwards, we got the story of how she had to wait 2 years to figure out what happened to Han and how we have it so good!
My favorite movie of all time. Everything in this film is magical. The settings, the characters, the dialog, the music, the battles, the chases, the revelations… just great front to back. Liam, you do a great job answering Steph’s questions without revealing too much. And Steph, it was such a joy to see somebody experiencing my favorite movie for the first time. Hats off to you both. I hope you’ll keep doing Star Wars, even the sequel trilogy.
I second that Daniel don't think I ever came out of the cinema so confused but on a strange high as well. None of the others came close to that feeling but then I was 4 older then.
Love her reaction.. it's the best when someone doesn't know the big reveal as we didn't back in 1980 😊 This is where the fun begins 😉 for the next big reveal 😮
I 100% understand your skepticism. One of the reasons I wanted to start a channel was because I HATE fake reactions. I can’t convince you, but she didn’t know. Steph had a very different upbringing to most and she’s not a nerd like me. There are people in the world that don’t follow the geeky sh*t we love….which is why I’m showing them to her. If I wanted to react for the sake of it I’d go and watch AVENGERS or THE DARK KNIGHT and watch the views roll in😂 but we have both seen them multiple times.
Fun fact: Originally, George Lucas never planned for Yoda to return in ROTJ, but a children psychologist told him that kids wouldn’t believe Darth Vader really was Luke’s father unless it was confirmed by a reliable and trustworthy source.
@@Bearded_Nerd94 And that was exactly right. None of my friends or I believed Vader. He was a liar trying to trick Luke. We had to accept the truth just like Luke did when Yoda confirmed it on his deathbed
I will never forget the day I cut school to see the initial screening of Empire on the day it came out. I remember the gasps in the audience at the reveal and my jaw literally hanging open. I remember walking out of the theater after it ended and the line of people that went all the way down the block and around, all of them looking at me asking how it was, and explaining to them "It was Star Wars times 1,000. Your head will explode" and the looks of anticipation on all of their faces.
Yoda is pretty strange because he's not just really old, but he's basically a hermit that hasn't had contact with anyone in YEARS. He's also putting on a little bit of an act to see who Luke really is before revealing himself.
It's quite obvious that Yoda is testing Luke's patience and trying to anger him. If Luke is quick to anger, then he's dangerous like his father. If his responses are more peaceful, thoughtful and measured (like his mother), then he's better suited to becoming a Jedi.
I'm 1.23 seconds in and I applaud that you started with A New Hope. I'm in no way the biggest SW fan, but you can't kill one of the biggest and most iconic moments in cinematic history ('I AM your father...) just because they eventually wrote the 1st to 3rd episodes. I made sure I showed the LOTR films before watching the Hobbit for the same reason. Well done
The reactions with you are great guys! It´s the first time that a couple, that one has seen it and the other has not, that the one who has seen it is very respectful, subtle... guiding but without giving spoilers, that is wonderful and is appreciated.
I love watching your wife's reaction and realizing it is exactly the same as 6 year old me watching in a theater in 1980...but I had to wait 3 years for answers!
ESB has always been my favorite. They’re all great but there’s something about the way ESB expands the story, creating this larger galaxy with more planets and creatures and it has that epic cliffhanger with the incredible reveal. It has the best quotes, the confrontation between Vader and Luke, training with Yoda. It’s just movie perfection.
I am old enough to remember the revelation when Empire came out in 80, it was the only time where Strangers were talking to each other saying it can’t be true and what has happened to Han and then we had to wait 3 years for Jedi to come out, I am so glad the revelation can shock someone after 44 years
Oh yeah, keeping from saying too much, too soon is heart wrenching! I saw this in theaters in 1980, and the reveal still gives me chills! No matter how many times I watch. Especially while watching a reviewer who has no idea what is around the corner. Your wife's reaction of stunned silence, then massive confusion, and straight into denial is priceless! The fans, the rumbling of the seats from the THX sound, really gave chills! Thanks! I can't wait for her to watch Episode VI.
I really enjoyed watching this with you both - you're both so invested in what you react to. Best of all, you don't feel the need to talk constantly, over the scenes and dialogue, and then later, ask what happened. Many reactors seem to feel that that we viewers only know that reactors are interested if they babble on and on! Thank you!
The greatest Si-Fi movie of all time. I’ve seen it about 40x I’m 53. Saw it as a kid and remember waiting like 3 years for Return of the Jedi to come out. My mom took me to opening day for ROJ and skipped school to see the 11am showing at the local theater.
@@Reactsandgames That was real world lol. Imagine hearing "I am your father.." and then not hearing anything about the story or what was coming next, no speculation, no message boards, no internet, not even a cordless phone..until 3 years later. It felt like an eternity. lol
Great job guys! You're so much fun to watch. Go back in time and imagine, if you will, seeing these movies in real time when nothing like them had ever been produced. Try to imagine not knowing if and when another one would be made and released in theaters. They were truly movie magic.
Of course every man's favorite is RETURN OF THE JEDI. Princess Leah had every single young man's heart beating a mile per second. It was every lady's favorite due to the cute Ewoks. Really love the two of you. Your interactions remind me of my first marriage (first wife died of breast cancer at age 43). Don't get me wrong I love my current wife but our chemistry is completely different. I love it when Steph leans over, smiles, and touches Liam's shoulder. Can't wait for Liam and Steph to do RETURN OF THE JEDI.😊❤
Oh yes, Leia in ROTJ was fodder for some pleasurable thoughts, in the mid-1980s, at the dawn of my adolescence. (She was soon followed by Phoebe Cates and Susanna Hoffs.) 👍
No, my favourite is Empire. It has the heart of Star Wars - Yoda teaching Luke about the Force. I do love the ending of Jedi with the space battle, the ground battle, and the Luke/Vader battle though. The editing is phenomenal.
As a movie, this was not just the best Star Wars movie ever...but this one (Empire Strikes Back...Episode V) is probably one of the top 5 greatest movies ever.
Can’t even tell you how hard this movie hit when I saw it as a kid. Not only did we not see the “I am your father” coming, we also had no idea who Yoda was, so that reveal was also stunning. This is my favorite SW movie. Went back to see it several times in theaters when it came out.
@@robertcordiner3728 Oh, haha, yep me too. I was 7 when Empire came out and telling a 7 year old he had to wait THREE YEARS for the final movie was TOUGH lol
This is fantastic! I love watching you explaining the story to an eager new comer to the story. It reminds me of explaining the story line to my lovely wife. I can wait to see the next uploads!
Loved your reaction to this one! Especially watching Liam trying to keep his mouth shut. 😀 Good job not saying anything, Liam. 🙂 Stef's reactions are priceless, and it's so great seeing her experience this for the first time. Takes me back it does... This came out in 1980 when I turned 12, and I remember my family going to see it in a drive in movie theater, Dad backing the station wagon into the parking spot so we could put the tailgate down and sit or lie down in the back to watch the movie. We had pillows and cushions and blankets to sit or lie on for full comfort (and for my little sister, who was only 7 at the time, to eventually fall asleep on), and we brought a picnic basket of snacks and iced tea too. It was glorious. 😀 The twist at the end shocked us all, even my genius dad who was great at figuring things out (he was a mechanical engineer and loved learning how things were done and teaching me about it too). I remember lunchroom discussions at school for the next year or so about whether or not Vader was lying. Of course he was lying because the dark side wants to corrupt people and so the best way to do that is shake the foundations of their beliefs. Of course he wasn't lying because the truth of Vader being his father would be more devastating to Luke than a lie. Lots of things like that back and forth for months and they started up again when we heard the next movie was coming out. 😀 Having to wait three years between these with that cliffhanger doing the Sword of Damocles over our heads the whole time was BRUTAL! 😀 But so awesome. 🙂
@@LionClaw865 no. There's some horrible fan fiction made by some people who aren't actually fans, most of whom have never actually even seen Star Wars before.
Mark Hamill (Luke) looks different here, because he had a car crash before filming this. He needed some plastic surgery on his face and you can see some scars. Then they used the yeti plot to make sense of it.
@@jerodast they said he'd be pretty okay for this one but as the years go by it would become noticeable. It is a lot more noticeable in ROTJ than this. here he just looks naturally older from what he was in 1975-76 when he filmed the original.
This is a false rumour actually. Mark broke his nose in the car accident, but he didn’t need plastic surgery. Also the Wampa scene had nothing to do with it. I recommend looking it up.
Very cool. I also watched this with my girlfriend the first time she saw it. We had “I love you” and “I know” inscribed on our wedding cake years later ❤️
30:40 - So, the point of the torture machine that Han was just put through without asking him any questions etc, was purely just to cause Han pain, in order for Luke to sense it through the Force that his friends were in great pain. Vader was just setting the trap.
This was awesome, i remember sharing starwars with my wife for the first time. So much fun being able to share the things you love with the people you love😊
"Its not gonna end, ist it, now?" That same feeling was shared by sooo many people since 1980. While the concept of an "open ending" was known in storytelling. It was rare and almost every time it was by accident. Empire was the first time, an open end was used on purpose. (also it was not a happy ending, that was also something new, for the time)
In 1977, we had questions. In 1980, with the big reveal, we had even more questions! Keep in mind you started in the middle with episode 4, episode 5 is almost the end, episode 6 is the end of the story, kind of a backwards way to tell a story, George Lucas was a genius! Episodes 1-3 will fill in the blanks in learning the characters' backstories! When you get to episode 1, there is a very important blood test, I'll say no more. It should help you understand a very important part of the story. Star Wars was a big part of my childhood, it's fun rewatching it with people who haven't seen them!
We don't talk about the M word, it's stupid. Also starting at episode 4 was a good idea because starting at ep 1 for a newcomer would ruin a lot of what makes the OT really good.
Wonderful reaction, so entertaining. Honestly the look on Steph's face when his hand was cut off, and then the revelation as Luke's dad. Wow, excellent reaction. Honestly really looking forward to the next one!
If you want a fun fact, according to Mark Hamill in some of his interviews, they didn't want the big reveal to get leaked before the film was released, so they actually made up a dummy reveal. During filming, Darth Vader was scripted to say "Obi-Wan killed your father," which is a pretty dang good fake. It then got dubbed over with the real line "I am your father" in post. In the meantime, only the writer, the director, and later Mark Hamill himself knew (and they straight-up told Hamill that he was the only one they were gonna tell that to, so if it got out, they'd know it was him).
david prowse kind of knew himself. he fed this spoil to some fans in 1978 but was obviously BSing... however Lucas caught wind of it and it kind of ruined their relationship forever.
What's with all the people telling you how you must react in your reaction channel and how you must interact with your wife?! How dare you know more about your wife than them lol. Don't listen to any of those people. You guys are great the way you are! Do you! Unless this is something your wife has told you, to stop explaining things, then don't stop. Ignore the haters and keep being genuine yourselves. That's what make for the best reaction channels: honest and genuine reactions and interactions between you two, not just doing exactly what a small vocal minority want you to be. The latter of which makes for unsuccessful channels that eventually shut down because they never find their place.
I know I clicked the like button, but I want to also tell you that I 100% agree with your comment. Not every reaction will be the same. I don't want people to follow some pattern except for one thing. I would like them to try to follow the story and what the movie is saying and actually communicate this rather than just say WOW and OMG. In some reactions, the reactor needs to finish the film and then think about it before engaging in that way and that's ok too. It's fun to watch this couple and I really hope that they keep doing things just the way they are.
Thank you so much to you both! We really appreciate your comments! We want our channel to be authentic to how we are! We love being our true selves and I’m so glad to see that you both like that! Thank you for watching and for defending us! ☺️
@@Reactsandgames No problem! For us internal processors, sometimes we even need to watch a film and then walk away from it and think for 30 minutes, or an hour or a day. It might even be fun to give your wife (who I'm guessing is an internal processor) time to process things and then come back to filming her reaction later and include that as the ending of your video. Or she could give a recap of what she's been thinking about when you start your next reaction. Or maybe not! This is just my guess and suggestions from watching an edited video, so feel free to ignore my comment if it's wrong or a bad suggestion.
Watching Stef’s honest reactions and awe while learning things for the first time brought me to tears. It makes me almost remember my own feelings when seeing these movies for the first time so long ago. Looking forward to seeing all the rest! Watch those spoilers!
Her "I don't understand. That can't be true" is why I love having first-time viewers go back and watch the prequels after Empire, before going into Return of the Jedi. It answers the burning question of how Anakin fell to became Vader, while also letting RoTJ complete Vader's arc. It also fleshes out the Emperor a ton, which makes his interactions with Luke more interesting. Love the reactions you two do; keep them coming!
No one should ever watch these movies out of order. The only reason a first-time watcher should ever even consider watching these out of release order is if they already know that Vader is the father of the twins. NO ONE SHOULD EVER WATCH THESE MOVIES OUT OF RELEASE ORDER!
I know every line to all these movies since i grew up with them. Watching your reactions to the scenes and one liner jokes, makes me want to watch your reactions for the whole movie and the others. Its nice to see someone be suprised as i was when i was a lot younger seeing this for the first time.
I'm sure I'm number 432 to write this but Luke didn't use the Force to get into that ventilation shaft after he jumped. Those little pipes in the side of the big drop were debris extractors. They constantly suck in air with sufficient strength to suck all substantial "trash" out that might be falling down the huge hole from somewhere. Luke got luck- strike that, "the Force was with him"!;) Also, I really enjoyed watching you both reacting to this, awesome! And, on the side, for me RotJ was always my favorite one too, when I was growing up.
RotJ as a kid for me too - I especially LOVE that lightsaber duel, even though I now acknowledge the three stage duel of Empire is equally good and sometimes better depending on your mood. (It helps to be an adult now and see Vader, increasingly inclined to obliterate Luke, as the ultimate punishment for uppity ungrateful children haha.) I just can't do much with Ewoks anymore though - out of everything in the OT it's the most blatantly and extensively "for the kids". It's not done BADLY it's just a tone I don't need in my reexperience of the story; Empire is all dramatic notes and no dissonance.
@@jerodast Agreed, on all points. I'm sure there are tons of "old" fans with this same journey out there. Stay strong, bothers, we'll always have the OT! (At least if you've got the Despecialized Edition...)
Keep it in mind that we didn't have the Internet back then or any type of knowing if or when the next film was going to come out. We had to wait 3 years for the next one. I was with my brother playing with our toys on the living room floor with the T.v. on in the background when the trailer for the next one came on. It took us 2 weeks to get it on and recorded on our VCR. We watched it so many times before it was released in theaters that May. I share a birthday with George Lucas May 14th. These movies mean so much me and to so many people around the world. Love watching first time watchers because it truly brings back those feelings we had when it was our first time. Great job on not spoiling it for her.❤
Dude! you're still talking and telling too much. You must refrain and just react just as she does to the scene at hand as if you didn't know anything. It's very difficult to reverse what took so many years to learn but you can do it! Still love the reactions though. Can't wait to see more...Thanks!
Good fun watching you guys. I watched this movie for the first time in 1980. I had to wait for THREE YEARS until Return of the Jedi came out to find out the fate of Han Solo! Good times, great memories!🙃
Ian, so you guys are British? You should watch Highlander the Series!! From the 90s!! I used to watch that every week in high school, it was the highlight of my week! It's the same premise as the movie, except in the series it is the cousin of the character from the movie, who was born later but is also immortal. Duncan MacLeod, he was born in the highlands of Scotland in 1592 and is still alive in 1992. He can't die unless someone cuts off his head! And when you cut off the head of an immortal, you gain all of their knowledge and skill. The series gets into all kinds of stuff that can happen to immortals....Duncan sleeps with lots of women, and learns lots of martial arts, and sees mortal friends grow old and pass away...each episode is about his life in Seattle or Paris or London, and he runs into another immortal and they show a flashback from hundreds of years ago when he first met the guy, and it usually turns out that the guy is doing bad things, so Duncan has to kill him, and an awesome sword fight ensues! You guys would love it. Duncan is played by Adrian Paul, who is a Londoner, but he tries to make his accent sound more Scottish when he is playing Duncan of the past. The character has a friend named Amanda, who was born in 800 AD so in 1992 she's over 1000 years old. She has an English accent when he first meets her, but in the modern day, her accent is American. 🙂
You two are great. So cute. I am from the United States and was born a few months before Episode 4 was released in May of 1977, so Star Wars was the ubiquitous cultural touchpoint of my entire childhood. Every single friend of mine, especially the ones with older siblings, had all the original Star Wars toy collections. We all knew every quote in all the movies, and those quotes were frequently used in casual conversation. You couldn’t go a month without having someone say, “Luke, I am your father” - which of course is technically the wrong quote. It’s so fun to watch your sweet wife experience all of this for the first time to capture her wholesome original reactions. You did a great job of holding back when you needed to and then explaining, when it was the right time. I loved it when she said, “Maybe Leia is using the force” and we could see the consternation cross over your face as you tried to figure out how to respond. Super entertaining.
Yoda explaining the Force, is the heart of Star Wars. Using the Force is all about belief. Belief in something greater than you, belief in yourself, belief that even one person can make a difference. That's why Yoda looked so disappointed when Luke stomped off. Yoda didn't want _prove_ that the ship could be lifted. He wanted Luke to believe.
Wow, impressive that she never got spilled on this point… has to become of the most widely known bits of pop trivia. Other reveal(s) are much more commonly bot known. Awesome reaction as always! Her astonishment was awesome to see. 👍
I love you guys! I also discovered Star Wars together with my girlfriend, now wife and I can so relate to how you feel!!!! You guys are so much fun to watch and I look forward to the next reactions.... Thank you from Germany!
Dude, I could watch you two react to Star Wars every day. You are genuine. Steph's expressiveness is enthralling, and her bright smile is captivating. Keep up the good work.
A small demonstration of my confidence in your ability to grow this channel. Don't stop! I subscribed recently and I don't regret it one bit. I watch a LOT of reaction videos from many channels. You are among the best. You know when to listen to the film, when to comment, and your reactions seem genuine. Keep it up! Keep doing some of the big ones: Green Mile, Forest Gump, more Star Wars, Lost World: Jurassic Park, etc. You really have what it takes to make this channel a huge hit. You're doing great! Hopefully one day you get into one of my favorites: Star Trek. A set of TV series and set of films which leave a lasting effect on a person and their worldview.
Thank you so much for your lovely comment, support and generosity it means the world to us! We haven’t seen forest gump so that’s on our list along with the Star Wars movies and we will also continue with Jurassic Park soon! ☺️ Thank you so much for the encouragement and kind words! ❤️
I'm definitely coming back if she makes it to episode 3, and Rogue one. And if you watch the Clone Wars first before you get her started on Mandalorian and Ahsoka, I'm definitely with you for another watch. Episode 16 is still the greatest moment in cinematic movie history for those that walked the full patch.
As someone who saw the films in the theater first time around, it's always fun seeing someone enjoy them so many years later. Love her excitement and worry about the characters. Keep up the fun reviews.
@@Reactsandgames you did good. I hope you don't mention the new trilogy and make up some excuse ;). Go for clone wars instead and distract the lady hehe
I still remember the absolute gasp in the theater when that reveal happened followed by everyone, including my friends and I, muttering, "no way....no way...." - pure story telling magic!
Thanks to Liam and Steph! 🌠 I love this one the most out of the original trilogy. But I love *all* STAR WARS... all the movies and live-action tv series... even the canonical animated series. I hope you'll both continue watching, reacting with open hearts and open minds. Always focus on the bits that resonate with you. There are so many things to savor in this franchise.
I always assumed that it was kind of a system of vents for purification that naturally sucked out any Luke-sized particulates from Cloud City's central shaft. But your explanation works too.
I was 9 when Empire came out and loved it even more than the first one; Empire is still my personal favorite of all the films. I still have fond memories of seeing the original in 1977. My six-year-old self was amazed. My mom took me to see it more than once. Remembering the recently passed away James Earl Jones, who gave us the voice of Darth Vader. I also love the music, especially the Imperial March, what I just refer to as Darth Vader's theme. I love all the different variations of the theme in this movie. Little bit of trivia: The actor who played Admiral Ozzel(the one Vader kills even though they are not in the same room) played Adolf in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. I saw that one in the theaters on my 18th birthday as a special Memorial Day matinee.
Agreed. I would join up with the Empire without hesitation If the Imperial March would be playing in the background. I'd be like fuck it, gimme a blaster and letsgo idc.
Love to you both. I feel insanely lucky to have been a little kid when these came out. Thanks for being awesome (both of you) and for uploading this. Excellent reaction.
I love this combination as a reaction to Star Wars. He is a big fan you can tell and knows a lot about the lore and movie trivia. She is brand new to the story. I can relate to him and enjoy her reaction at the same time. Good job guys!
I remember waiting in line for Star Wars in our local movie theatre. I was three, the line was around the block and I've been a fan for forty seven years now. Empire is my favorite, and R2 is my favorite character. Watching your wife's reactions is a blast... Takes me right back.
@Reactsandgames the Star Wars trilogy is one of my favorite childhood memories. Everybody at school wanted to be Luke Skywalker. Stick saber fights galore.
Liam, I really like Steph's reactions! As her being a first time viewer, she didn't know what was coming, and you as you have seen them as I have. I'm glad you didn't say too much so she could see for herself what was happening in the story. She had no idea that Vader is Luke's dad! I've know that fact since I was a kid when I watched Episodes 4, 5, and 6 on VHS as kid in the 80's(Yes, I'm old compared to you two) I digress, watching someone react to watching a Star Wars movie for the first time was cool, and she likes it! I like the scenes with Luke and Yoda on Dagobah. Yoda imparts onto Luke how easy and "seductive" the Dark Side is, when he in on Luke's back and has him doing doing the physical training. The Light Side is all about selflessness and helping others. She knows the difference now. I will definately watch you the video you make for Return Of The Jedi watch through/reaction.
I never was a hardcore SW fan, but I seen this somewhere around 1992 and must admit, it was an act that changed my brain, my imagination and my childhood. I was like 7 and you can imagine what impact it has on me, the first time I seen a tv show in our national tv was just two years before.
This was wonderful. Seeing this film through fresh eyes, with all of the wonder and awe of not knowing anything about star wars is amazing. So enjoying you guys reactions to these classic films.
great guys… it’s one of my guilty pleasures to watch Star Wars together with people i love and who have never seen it… and it gives me chills ALL THE TIME aswell… it’s amazing that this bizarre and intense experience is so common all over the world. great to share such emotions. hi five from Italy 😉
Luke is able to project his thoughts over vast distances with anyone he has a connection with. It didn’t have to be Leia but she was the first person he thought of because she was the last person he saw before you entering the chamber to fight Vader.
Hello from the USA. You guys are now my absolute favorite reactors. You're so into the movies. Very passionate. Great job. Can't wait for the next one.
This has been said countless times but for good reason the Vader father reveal is the best twist in movie history because It completely changes how you view everything going forward for the rest of the Star Wars movies no other twist has impacted an ENTIRE franchise on this level at least in my opinion.
I was born in 77. It's so cool seeing the movies still effect new modern viewers. When I was 6, my dad got me a copy of return of the jedi on VHS with time code still on it. So I was watching it a hundred times while it was in the theaters.
Fantastic, guys! Steph is precious & her reactions are amazing. Liam, great job guiding & explaining without spoilers. Eager for more of the “Skywalker Saga!”
I think the debate about "Empire" being the best one depends on whether you had to wait 3 years to find out what happens or not. :) Loving the reactions, cant wait for RoTJ :)
mate.....dont listen to the critics about your commentary. your and excellent guide for your wife while not spoiling anything. great job
Well he did tell her that it was Yoda. Not cool.
he 100% spoiled some things. does it matter? no.
He doesn't let her experience it like the first time we all watched it.
The dude just needs to keep quiet. Just tell her she'll get her answers.
And "we" did not give away the plot nor any hints of the story. Mostly: "You gotta see it for yourself."
As a little kid - I just couldn’t believe that Vader was Luke’s father. The entire theatre was gasping!
Yeah I mean its great if you're a little kid but its like really really really really really obvious to any adult with even basic media literacy.
@@adamplentl5588 Perhaps today, but not in 1980.
The great scene about the Yoda introduction, is that when you saw it in the theater you didn't know who Yoda was and actually thought he was just some crazy little character. But then he turns serious, and you realize he was testing Luke with the crazy creature act.
To this day it has been the best movie reveal I've ever experienced.
Every time you see someone new watch it the first time, you wonder if this is the time the effect is just not gonna hold up anymore and they won't be able to take him seriously. Then Yoda does his clown act and you get REALLY worried as they think "gosh Yoda is a lot goofier than I was expecting."
Then....."I cannot teach him." The mood shift.
Now if only that had been what they were doing with Luke in Last Jedi.
Whenever we would watch Empire then just put in Jedi right afterwards, we got the story of how she had to wait 2 years to figure out what happened to Han and how we have it so good!
it was 3 years.
The horror but the reward had to be so sweat! Love these movies and they should have stopped with these three movies imo.
Yep, 3 years in between each. 1977, 1980, 1983.
Yeah it was 3 years. My bad.
My favourite too. I was 15 and went to the cinemas 7 times to see this film.
Thank you very much! The next one is coming very soon! ☺️
Yeah, it's pretty perfect, every time I watch it, I tear up, thinking what Disney have done to it.
The Original Star Wars Trilogy Is The GOAT of all classic movies
You're Goddamn right!😈
Love her reaction.. it's the best when someone doesn't know the big reveal as we didn't back in 1980 😊 This is where the fun begins 😉 for the next big reveal 😮
You actually think movie reactions are real? My daughter is 6, she's never seen Star Wars and knows about the 'big reveal'.
@@haissem8 someone didn't have their Cheerios today. If that's the case then why are you watching any of these videos🙄
@@raybernal6829 Some people just cant let others enjoy content. There is always at least one!
97 And I discovered everything at my 7~ without spoilers
"That can't be true." It's been true for almost 45 years.
😂
Fun fact: Originally, George Lucas never planned for Yoda to return in ROTJ, but a children psychologist told him that kids wouldn’t believe Darth Vader really was Luke’s father unless it was confirmed by a reliable and trustworthy source.
@@Bearded_Nerd94 And that was exactly right. None of my friends or I believed Vader. He was a liar trying to trick Luke. We had to accept the truth just like Luke did when Yoda confirmed it on his deathbed
Some would say it's been true since "a long time ago."
Even James Earl Jones who did vaders voice didn't believe it, he wondered how Lucas was going to show how he had lied he was lukes father.
Always liked the metaphor of Yoda literally testing Luke's patience
Yoda is pretty strange because he's not just really old, but he's basically a hermit that hasn't had contact with anyone in YEARS. He's also putting on a little bit of an act to see who Luke really is before revealing himself.
It's all an act.
It's quite obvious that Yoda is testing Luke's patience and trying to anger him. If Luke is quick to anger, then he's dangerous like his father. If his responses are more peaceful, thoughtful and measured (like his mother), then he's better suited to becoming a Jedi.
I also think Yoda enjoys trolling
He had contact with others through the force……
It’s also a ploy to make people assume he isn’t a threat.
I love any reaction that's not from a TH-camr that just wants views but a person that just looks at the film in a calm way and says how they feels.
Thank you! ☺️
Well done
Exactly! I wanted to show her them the way we all experienced them!
@Reactsandgames there is no escape......
The reactions with you are great guys! It´s the first time that a couple, that one has seen it and the other has not, that the one who has seen it is very respectful, subtle... guiding but without giving spoilers, that is wonderful and is appreciated.
Thank you so much for your lovely feedback! We really appreciate it! 😊
I love watching your wife's reaction and realizing it is exactly the same as 6 year old me watching in a theater in 1980...but I had to wait 3 years for answers!
Thank you so much for watching along with me! ☺️
I am old enough to remember the revelation when Empire came out in 80, it was the only time where Strangers were talking to each other saying it can’t be true and what has happened to Han and then we had to wait 3 years for Jedi to come out, I am so glad the revelation can shock someone after 44 years
How awesome to experience that! ☺️ thank you for watching along with me! ❤️
Thank you!
Thanks for watching with us!
One of my favorite line deliveries.. EVER. "You will be... You WILL be!" From taht tiny frame made it SOOO much more menacing.
Awesome reaction as always you two are clearly nice people and I love your empathy shown in your war film reactions love watching you guys!!
Really appreciate that, thank you! And thanks for watching with us!
The greatest Si-Fi movie of all time. I’ve seen it about 40x I’m 53. Saw it as a kid and remember waiting like 3 years for Return of the Jedi to come out. My mom took me to opening day for ROJ and skipped school to see the 11am showing at the local theater.
Aww that’s lovely! 3 years is soo long to wait! 😱
@@Reactsandgames That was real world lol. Imagine hearing "I am your father.." and then not hearing anything about the story or what was coming next, no speculation, no message boards, no internet, not even a cordless phone..until 3 years later. It felt like an eternity. lol

That was my reaction to.!!! 🥲
I was so gutted! Haha
Its a vent that sucks in the air and disposes of anything that falls down.
Great job guys! You're so much fun to watch. Go back in time and imagine, if you will, seeing these movies in real time when nothing like them had ever been produced. Try to imagine not knowing if and when another one would be made and released in theaters. They were truly movie magic.
Thank you, means a lot! I know! I feel like the movies from the 80’s and 90’s were just a different level!
Thank you so much for watching along with us! We are so sorry for the loss of your first wife! We can’t imagine how hard that must have been! 😔
This is great. I love watching someone enjoy this awesome movie. Thank you for sharing her reactions with us.

The twist at the end shocked us all, even my genius dad who was great at figuring things out (he was a mechanical engineer and loved learning how things were done and teaching me about it too). 🙂
Thank you so much for your comment and for watching along with us! ☺️❤️
I love how he acted like nothing made by Disney existed. Beautiful!!
as he should for the most part :)
I don’t like the prequels either.
There is something by Disney?
@@LionClaw865 no. There's some horrible fan fiction made by some people who aren't actually fans, most of whom have never actually even seen Star Wars before.

Mark Hamill (Luke) looks different here, because he had a car crash before filming this. He needed some plastic surgery on his face and you can see some scars. Then they used the yeti plot to make sense of it.
On the 2004 dvd commentary George Lucas says that the yeti actually wasn't anything to do with Hamill's accident
I swear I still cannot notice any difference watching this for the 100th time haha. I'm sure if you put them side by side I MIGHT get something :P
That is awesome! We love that! ☺️
Thank you so much for watching! I totally agree! ❤️
Great couple....great reaction, made my night shift go by quicker ! :0)
Glad you enjoyed it and that we can help you get through a Nightshift! ☺️❤️
"Its not gonna end, ist it, now?"
That same feeling was shared by sooo many people since 1980.
Thanks for watching!
Wonderful reaction, so entertaining. Honestly the look on Steph's face when his hand was cut off, and then the revelation as Luke's dad. Wow, excellent reaction. Honestly really looking forward to the next one!
Thank you so much!! I’m so glad you enjoyed it! ☺️❤️
I remember watching this in a 500 seat (sold out) auditorium in 1980. The audience erupted into cheers when the first AT-AT was brought down.
Aww thank you so much! That means the world to me! ❤️
Yooo, same here, like Liam said, it's so amazing to see this "through Steph's eyes" and reliving the wonder all over again. Thanks you two!
But, it does spoil the Leia reveal.
Appreciate it thank you!!
Luke got luck- strike that, "the Force was with him"!;)
Also, I really enjoyed watching you both reacting to this, awesome!

When Leia kisses Luke, it´s obviously to make Han jealous. The real chemistry and horny tension it´s with Solo.

You are the most terrible person at keeping things to yourself and it diminishes the impact on your wife! So sad!!!
What did I not keep to myself? You’re acting like I completely ruined the film
Thank you so much for sharing and for watching along with Steph! She is really enjoying her Star Wars journey!

Thank YOU so much for watching along! We really appreciate it! I can’t wait for the next one! ☺️❤️
@@Reactsandgames Keep watching them and I'll keep watching you watching them! 🥰
I always assumed that it was kind of a system of vents for purification that naturally sucked out any Luke-sized particulates from Cloud City's central shaft. But your explanation works too.
Brilliant! What a great watch. Your wife and her reactions are adorable. Stellar vid.
Really appreciate it! Thank you!!
This is the first reaction of yours I came across. Lots of fun and very earnest. Well done. I love how invested the wife is. So sweet. Keep it up!
Thank you so much for your lovely feedback! We are so glad you enjoyed it! ☺️☺️
Thank you so much for your lovely comment! ☺️❤️
I love this combination as a reaction to Star Wars. He is a big fan you can tell and knows a lot about the lore and movie trivia. She is brand new to the story. I can relate to him and enjoy her reaction at the same time. Good job guys!
Thank you so much for your comment and for watching along! ☺️❤️
I remember waiting in line for Star Wars in our local movie theatre. I was three, the line was around the block and I've been a fan for forty seven years now. Empire is my favorite, and R2 is my favorite character.
Watching your wife's reactions is a blast... Takes me right back.
Thanks for watching! Means a lot! Must have been wild getting to see them in the theatre!
@Reactsandgames the Star Wars trilogy is one of my favorite childhood memories. Everybody at school wanted to be Luke Skywalker. Stick saber fights galore.
The music, the cinematography and the story telling was all master class.
I loved it! 😊
Thank you so much! ☺️
I never was a hardcore SW fan, but I seen this somewhere around 1992 and must admit, it was an act that changed my brain, my imagination and my childhood. I was like 7 and you can imagine what impact it has on me, the first time I seen a tv show in our national tv was just two years before.
I got the chills too! - This is so good watching her find out - I'm tuning in for Jedi
Thanks for watching!
"I'm sure you have questions." Love it.
Same here. I love The Empire Strikes Back as well but the Return of the Jedi is my favorite.
This was wonderful. Seeing this film through fresh eyes, with all of the wonder and awe of not knowing anything about star wars is amazing. So enjoying you guys reactions to these classic films.
Thank you so much for your lovely comment and for watching along with us! ☺️❤️
great guys… it’s one of my guilty pleasures to watch Star Wars together with people i love and who have never seen it… and it gives me chills ALL THE TIME aswell… it’s amazing that this bizarre and intense experience is so common all over the world. great to share such emotions. hi five from Italy 😉
Thanks for watching! We really appreciate it!
Wow, thank you so much for watching and for being so lovely! ☺️ the next one should be out by the end of the week! 😊
She’s a keeper. Loved watching it through her eyes. She’s following the film closely. Love it.
Thank you so much for watching! ☺️❤️
What a joy to experience what we experienced watching it for the first time without spoilers. Great experience !
Love her enthusiasm. Makes me wish I could watch these again for the first time at my current age.
Thank you for your comment and for watching with me! ☺️
This has been said countless times but for good reason the Vader father reveal is the best twist in movie history because It completely changes how you view everything going forward for the rest of the Star Wars movies no other twist has impacted an ENTIRE franchise on this level at least in my opinion.
Would probably agree! Such a wild reveal!
I was born in 77. It's so cool seeing the movies still effect new modern viewers. When I was 6, my dad got me a copy of return of the jedi on VHS with time code still on it. So I was watching it a hundred times while it was in the theaters.
That’s awesome! ☺️
You two have great screen charisma. It's fun to watch people absorb the Vader/Luke connection for the first time.
Appreciate it thank you! 😃
Still gives me goosebumps 40 years later.
Fantastic, guys! Steph is precious & her reactions are amazing. Liam, great job guiding & explaining without spoilers. Eager for more of the “Skywalker Saga!”
Thank you so much for your lovely comment! We are so glad you enjoyed it! ☺️❤️
Yep, Return of the Jedi is definitely the best! 100% agree
The chin hits the floor look when Luke loses his hand and then the WTF look when Vader tells him I'm your father..made me laugh. You two are ace
Thank you so much for your comment and for watching along! ☺️❤️
I think the debate about "Empire" being the best one depends on whether you had to wait 3 years to find out what happens or not. :) Loving the reactions, cant wait for RoTJ :)
My favorite Star Wars episode. I saw it in the movie theater with my children when it was first released.
