So immensely powerful but only about 80% of what he could have been had he not been fatally wounded on Mustaphar.
Vader did all of that: he “ stuck“ the door trapping them, he created that black at the end of the corridor to veil himself, he blocked off all exits on the sides of the corridor if there were any, and then of course, ripping their weapons from them, flipping them into the air against the roof, whipping them sideways across the corridor. He might’ve even held his breath at first before you hear his breathing.

Star wars is for cinema, watching it with friend and 200 people. I watched Yoda fighting on cinema, the first weekend, so, not everybody knew. Awesome.
I love this scene so much because of everything tied to it. Vader turned off his life support to be more dramatic. He held the door stuck open just slightly because he gets stronger based off fear. Sealing them entirely, they would be more likely to just give up and fight versus trying to scramble and get the door open. The hope the door could open enhanced their fear. That they MIGHT be able to escape him. Proof that the door isn’t stuck is when he stabs through the guy and the door. It immediately opens yet the power in the hallway is still off. The song that plays leans into it. It’s called “Hope”. This scene also leads into A New Hope. He’s still dramatic once he sees one person running with something. Yet he doesn’t know what it is to force pull it from him. When the ship launches, there’s no wind there. He’s flapping his own cape.
verb past tense: erected; past participle: erected put together and set upright (a building, wall, or other structure). "the guest house was erected in the eighteenth century"
"But sir, what will we do with the end of the movie, to make it make sense with Episode IV?" "It's fine, we'll just have Vader murder everyone at the end, to Imperial March."
I only just realized that Vader displayed a new power in the hallway scene. We'd seen him catch a blaster bolt, same principle of energy absorption we've seen from Yoda with lightning and Satele Shan with a lightsaber. In the scene he stops one in mid air and throws it back at the shooter. No one had ever done that before.
What most don't think about is that many Jedi survived Order 66, until Vader went after them. He is the reason only Yoda and Kenobi survived. Because he didn't know where they were.
The hype in the theater when we heard his breathing was palpable, and the fact we ALL knew they were going to get away, yet we were still like "Run bitch, runnnnn!!!" The Sheer presence Daniel Naprous was able to give off for this scene was just amazing.
the aura of hoplessness and fear just some breathing can give off is insane vader is probably the only villain where you genuinely go "oh shit" whenever he appears also love how some of the reactors have some hope yet when they hear the breathing, they already know nothing can be done now and you see it in their faces
What I love about Vader/Anakin, is that he NEEDS his breathing equipment, so he INTENTIONALLY either turns it off for a time or holds his breath JUST to make an entrance like this

The actors did such a phenomenal job of looking terrified. Truly sold the presence and reputation of Vader.
I love how most of the reactions were a combination of surprise, fear, and/or sadness, but there were a couple that were gleefully sadistic, lol.
It’s still amazing how few people know that’s the Tantive IV
The satisfaction of watching this in theaters was one of the biggest surprises, the whole audience went wild.
9:37 "I'm so excited for the next movies!"
Little did she know, this was the last good movie from Disney Star wars!
Facts
Its amazing that he used the force to stop the door is insanely powerful
1:29 ash truly embodies that little gremlin pet Jabba had 😂😂
2:06 bro just said "the way that the lighsaber erected"?! 💀
verb
past tense: erected; past participle: erected
put together and set upright (a building, wall, or other structure).
"the guest house was erected in the eighteenth century"
The rebel screaming "Launch!" in terror makes the scene that much more terrifying..
When I my brothers and I saw this in theaters and when this scene came. We all giggled in absolute terror.
This is one of the greatest scenes in all of Star Wars.
When you realize that Darth Vader was keeping the door to be jammed with the force
That "LAAAUUUUUUNCH" tells you everything that you need to know about how terrifying Lord Vader is
i remember i had such Goodbumps and didn breath the whole scene in Cinema as i seen it first, it was awesome.
easily the best vader scene in all of star wars. i almost yelled take that you rebel scum in the theater when this scene happend lol
This scene gives me chills every single time I watch it!
I love how newer generations, especially females, instantly say “Annakin!” as opposed to the rest of us only seeing Vader.
"But sir, what will we do with the end of the movie, to make it make sense with Episode IV?" "It's fine, we'll just have Vader murder everyone at the end, to Imperial March."
Like Vader, I stopped breathing throughout this scene
"IT'S ALL ON THIS GEEZA!" I love that accent.
That sound when his lightsaber turns on.......😮😮😮😮😮 It's fucking terrifying
"It's all on this geezah!!!" I love the British.
This felt like the tiniest glimpse into EU Vader.
"What they scared of?"
Turns into into greatest moment of horror in star wars history
"Anakin stop" sums up the entire Skywalker saga 😂😂😂
The moment you realize the door isn't "jammed" makes Darth Vader even more badass.
Anakin was not in that hall. Vader was.
Just another day at the office for Vader.
It's funny how some of them don't realize Rogue One ends exactly where Episode IV begins
you see the 2 types of people, those who smile when seeing darth vadar, and those sad sayin oh no. im the 1st type.
the aura of hoplessness and fear just some breathing can give off is insane
vader is probably the only villain where you genuinely go "oh shit" whenever he appears
also love how some of the reactors have some hope yet when they hear the breathing, they already know nothing can be done now and you see it in their faces
I kid you not when I first saw this scene in theaters, and I heard Vader’s breathing my heartbeat started to go so fast. even I was scared
What I love about Vader/Anakin, is that he NEEDS his breathing equipment, so he INTENTIONALLY either turns it off for a time or holds his breath JUST to make an entrance like this
Two things. First I've always said that this scene literally shows us something that doesn't come across in any other star wars movie... Running into Vader is literally living out a horror movie. And 2 I never realized this before watching this scene over and over how close the rebellion came to being a lost cause. One man, one step, one second, so... many...times throughout all of the media.
Looking at Vader is like watiching the Grim Reaper walking towards you = you. are DEAD
Damn this scene is epic
I love that they finally showed Vader as the unstoppable juggernaut. It doesn't matter what you throw in his path nothing will stop him. Something they didn't or couldn't do in the original trilogy.
