    Just bought my 8 year old son the t8 and will build up with the others soon. He loves house and techno so thought this would be a fun place to start. Thanks for showing how to connect. Me and my son have a lot to learn 😂

    Stumbled upon this after seeing it mentioned in a book & then watching some videos on TH-cam. Something about it made me feel inspired, so I ordered it from American Musical Supply ... It already shipped & I should have it by end of business tomorrow.

    I’m curious why you use the IRig2 unit. I just hooked up all four of my Aira Compact modules and then connected all the audio in and out with E4 last like in your video. I connected headphones to E4 and heard all units playing. I also had a microphone connected to E4 mic input and everything worked perfectly. Please explain why IRig2 was used

      At the time of recording this video, this was on option shared to take advantage of sending external audio into the e4 from a device. If you find a way that works, run with it!

    What cables are you using for the MIDI? A regular TRS? Btw, you don't need to plug sync cables once you plug a MID connection. It will send a clock via MIDI automatically. It applies to all hardware

      you are welcome.
      That is a tough call. I use headphones and don't have any speakers. So many things go into that. Primarily your space. What are you trying to do. Produce or have fun.
      My suggestion, I hate saying this, is search on youtube or google for what you will be using them for. Another piece of advice, don't research too long. Grab something, rock it and see if it is for you. Know your return policy. Good luck

    • @krazywabbit
      @krazywabbit  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I don’t have a digitakt but my guess is the same you would with others. The appropriate audio or midi cable. Try a search here on TH-cam and you might find either a visual or someone walking through how to. If that doesn’t work, the manual would be the next stop. That will answer what type of cable(s) needed.

    • @skeome
      @skeome หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      If it uses USB C, use USB c. If it has a 3.5mm jack, use TRRS(stereo) with midi in. If it has a classic midi port, you need a midi to TRS(mono) adapter with sync in
      I suppose you could also get a TRRS adapter and try midi in, but I'm pretty sure older devices need TRS through sync

Once you’ve done this, each subsequent boot should work normally with the power adapter without having to press that combination of buttons. My investigations shows that Apple USB power supply's tend to work well.

      So, here, in fact, the sync cables are not necessary, right ?

  • @kurtklingklang5918
    @kurtklingklang5918 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

    The SYNC connections are not always necessary if you connect via MIDI.
    The clock coming from the ‘master’ device will be sent over MIDI to the chained devices when PLAY is pressed on the source device.
    The SYNC option may be better if you don’t want to start/stop simultaneously, as you get with MIDI but the clock is sent continuously, which may affect other devices in the chain that is not always desirable.
    So. Sometimes SYNC may be appropriate. Sometimes MIDI timing may be better
    I get my third unit later today.
    It may even be better to have a combination of clock connections

    Speaking of cables, for less than $50 one can buy a bunch of each cable tip, some shrink tube, and do yourself a favor, buy a cable tester, soldering iron, and last but not least, get on some old yard sale or estate sale, ebay etc and pickup some old nice cables from before copper prices went up, the copper inside many new cables is sad. But once you have a stash, if something breaks in the middle of the night, or holiday…. You have a way to make any cable you need, the length you need it and if you get clear heat shrink tube you can wrap it with colors as you see fit, its durable, colorful and sustainable.
