You took 7mins to get to the point. May I suggest that you show the solution at the beginning of the video, and then give the break down for those that want to spend the time to do so. I do thank you for making the video, but some of us just need the solution, and want to get back to making music.

Fair statement. I tend to make content that I enjoy vs what the audience wants. I’m a talker. Can’t change that. I can add chapters.
I wanted to be sarcastic too and say no 🤣

I'm not sure why anyone would want to use the built-in speakers of the midrange iPads, they're pretty poor. The iPad Pro, sounds pretty good though. Still not close to a real Bluetooth speaker.

Agree. As I mentioned, to get the best quality, the iPad speaker is not the goto.
The other big factor in this case, signal flow when using the iPad as an effect.
It’s the 21st century. Humans like having options.

Yeah but they still dont want to give you a headphone jack and you have to use stupid dongles or an interface externally to get audio out~ What doesnt make sense is that they market it as a new age work device but theres only 1 port and the tablets continue to get bigger and bigger every year increase the body real estate but the io stays the same..... at least give us a minimum of 2 usb ports....

As I like to say, we are leasing their platform. Apple did not make the iPad for us. It's either work arounds or work on something else. The choice is yours.

Great contents! Can you tell me whats the latency miliseconds when playing using it as an audio interface?? I dont know if I buy a dedicated audio interface for my iPad for low latency touchscreen keyboard playing OR just an Roland S1 would be good low latency to play keyboards and finger drums accuratly with its own audio interface

      Thanks!
Sorry, I don’t know the number or measure latency. I also don’t use them that way anymore as I’ve added a dedicated interface, the audio 4C, to my lineup. When I used them prior, I didn’t notice any however, I’m just messing about in this space.

Sorry for the newb question, but what is an AUM and how do I get one? I just tried hooking my Roland JDXI to my iPad IOS 16 using a USB C to USB B. I can’t seem to figure out how to even get my synth recognized in IPad. Been recording with Windows all my life and just can’t seem to get this to work. Any suggestions would be awesome! Great channel by the way!

Thanks for the question and words on the channel.
AUM is an app you would find on the App Store. The big question is will the iPad see the JDXI. I would do a search online first, before spending the money for AUM. I do not know if the JDXI will show midi, audio or both on the iPad. If the search says no, there are other options like BT for midi or using an audio interface. But at that point, how bad do you want to use the iPad as you are now needing to buy more things. Good luck!

This is one of the reasons I’ve kept my old iPad when I got a new one.
Can plug an audio interface into the pro2, use the audio in, then plug in the headphone socket and the audio out gets routed to the headphone socket.
If you plug headphones into the Roland is it working a 2in 2out AI, or you just hear the Roland’s audio?
    Thanks Wabbit 👍.

I’ll have to test your question and get back to you.

    • @TheSemtexCow

Just think it would make the Roland so much more powerful, especially if you own an external recording device.
Sorry Wabbit, but the next question I’d have is, what happens when you plug more than one in?
As far as I know the iPad only supports one audio interface.
      The plot thickens..🤣.

AI effect. However I believe there is the slightest echo effect. Hardcore audiophile won’t care for it. Not sure how it might get worse if you start doing complex stuff. In a pinch, I guess it would do

can you hook up more than one at a time through a usb-c hub?

    • @krazywabbit
      @krazywabbit  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

You can but the ipad will only see one at a time, the last one you plug in.

Seems to be broken on 17.2 ! Have an iPad mini 6 use exactly the same setup with AUM and op-Z (battery powered, one usb c cable and op is also soundcard) I’m only able to select op z as input and output ! Looking into AUM and top right settings on iPad and it only show op-z ! Did you have try your setup with 17.2 ? Or do you have an idea how to fix it with the last update ? Thanks 🙏

I am thinking this is now device specific. It still works on the Roland Aria devices for me but does not for the Polyend Play +.

@@krazywabbit I find a way to have the multi audio output with iPad mini and OP-Z ! Headphone must to be plugged with USB-C cable, and not jack. If I plugged it with USB-C cable after my Op-Z, I have Op-Z as input and headphone as output ! So it's a way with this device too :) Thanks again for your video

Hold down exit while starting the S1. That stops it.
