Hey Roland - since you don’t take feature requests anymore and told me to make feature requests on social media here I go: MIDI CC editing on the TR8s and SP404mk2 so that we can use the 8s as a midi controller for the SP404mk2. Increases the value of both your machines without encroaching on any other device. You wouldn’t even need to enable this functionality on the machines themselves, just via the editor (like basic midi controllers). This update won’t take up any DSP or CPU headroom.

Liam !!! Please !!! We have to pass this feature request along to Roland !!! We need to be able to choose to resample both busses or just one … that way we can build tracks using resample method - drums on one bus - samples on the other and then we can mix them independent
The most tricky part here is to get the right bpm, so the loops start evenly at the beginning of the bar. Would be really hard to do with unprepared loops.
@@9NZ4 I mean a work around is to use the sequencer to get an actual feel of where the end of the bar is and if it’s really that hard you can resample put the pattern on a pad and then there it’s perfect loop
Hey Liam, I'm glad to see you're still using your SP! I know I'm a bit out of topic, but have you ever tried or do you know if it's possible to use one of the Digitakt's midi tracks to control the two FX BUSES of the SP? I always have spare midi tracks on the DT and it would be cool to be able to control two SP FXs at once on my live sets!
You can absolutely do this- here’s a related video. You’ll have to figure out your Digitakt midi CC settings though: th-cam.com/video/JJNiBV-Q3Tc/w-d-xo.htmlsi=lkylM-JfVZHV6ya0
Can you record a live performance like this demo as individual per pad tracks as audio into Logic? Or do you just export the performance as a whole track? Sorry if this is a proper newb question but I’ve never had my hands on a 404 so have no idea but this demo looks like an ideal option for me to get all my many finished loops arranged into actual tracks.
Hope that makes sense. For example I can record my drums from tr8s as individual audio tracks per part, so kick, hat, ride, clap etc come out as individual audio tracks rather than having one drums track. Can the same be done from the 16 pads of 404 for a jam like this?
You have to export us as a track unfortunately. This is one department that I think is sort of lacking with the SP 404 mk2 - and maybe they’ll enhance it with an update.
@@LiamKillen ah that’s a shame. What’s the learning curve on this beast for someone who’s never owned a proper sampler? I use Logic mainly, and own a bit of Hardware (Tr8s, JU06a, TB3) so I’m not a complete newb, butI am where samplers & sampling is involved as I’ve never used a sampler like this. I’ve been eyeing either a 404mk2 or an MpcOne as I think a hands on sampler could be fun, but I’m indecisive as I’ve never played about with one. It’d be dope to get some arrangements going from my many loops. Did u already have knowledge of samplers when you got your first 404? How was it to learn, and would you suggest getting an older 404 SX or one of the other ones first to get used to the work flow? Cheers man ;)
@@h-dawg969its a strange and quirky beast. Just when you think you've got it, it won't do what you want. Saying that, it CAN do what YOU want. You could record a pattern (anything from 1 bar to 64 bars) with a kick, snare, hats for example. Than you can copy and paste that pattern, but with only the kick. Then you can resample that pattern to a pad, and export that to a DAW. It's not my cup of tea, but it's definitely doable.
Franchement un grand merci, j'ai achete le sp404 mais la learning curve est atroce quand tu viens du novation circuit rhythm, c'est pas du tout intuitif. Well I’ve just watched a 10/10 black box demo / kind of like that new Korg kaos sampler but it’s very pricey/ now I’ve just bumped into this … I still don’t own a proper sampler and don’t use computer At All .. And now I’m none the wiser of what to get ,even tho it won’t be anytime soon , due to finances .. But I do get a lot from these vids ..
This is the crippling issue in the Digitakt and even more so the octatrack. Sample length needs to be babysat on the sequencer. Adding tons of overhead. Letting the samples run to their conclusion and just repeat without re-triggering is huge.

Liam !!! Please !!! We have to pass this feature request along to Roland !!! We need to be able to choose to resample both busses or just one … that way we can build tracks using resample method - drums on one bus - samples on the other and then we can mix them independent
Maybe they’re reading!
Dammit Liam I didn’t even want an SP404mk2 before this 🤣😦
😈
What a brilliant video
Thanks for watching :-)
Could roland please add a windows version of the vst?
Hopefully they’re reading this!
Is there a UNO Synth Pro X in the background…? If so, what are your findings on that highly underrated beast… no video on that one or is there…?
It hasn't stuck yet
@@LiamKillen sounds good, then I guess it’s free of bugs…
Techno....Why not? Use it for ALL kinds of music....Even "classical", jazz, pop....Whatever springs to mind.
Anything! With this long sample playback mode there’s basically no limit
More content like this, please.
Already planning another 404 video
The most tricky part here is to get the right bpm, so the loops start evenly at the beginning of the bar. Would be really hard to do with unprepared loops.
For this sort of set up / approach, it would be best to have prepared loops with specified BPM
It’s not that hard to do w unprepared loops
@@MXSTRAT I mean if you don’t match the loop BPM and the project BPM, the loop will just stop mid bar
@@9NZ4 I mean a work around is to use the sequencer to get an actual feel of where the end of the bar is and if it’s really that hard you can resample put the pattern on a pad and then there it’s perfect loop
Does anyone feel the BPM detection is a bit meh?
loved this one!
Thx for watching Oora!
Great I'll check it out, thanks :)@@LiamKillen
This is awesome! One shot mode I didn’t know that existed! It looks so useful. Thanks Liam
It’s a pleasure!

I menttioned time stamps at like 0:00 lol - I suggest using them if you'd like to jump to something specific
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 thanks guys good stuff
Always a pleasure
Hey! That guy was in a 5 second interview!
Who what when?
@@LiamKillen 5 second interview knobcon 2023
This is great 👏👏👏 Thanks!
It’s a pleasure!
[2:32] This is what I'm here for
😏
This is dope!
I find the SP a ballache to use but it a great machine..
… hey Roland how about another firmware update?
I'm sure they got us sometime soon.
It def takes some getting used to - that's for sure.
Yes guys! This is awesome! 👏🙌👏
Thanks for watching! :-)
Life goals poto. Laches toi sur les tutos stp tes explications sont vraiment top tier in the game.
Merci a toi! Thanks for watching 😊
Idt I’ve ever learned so much about the SP404😂
Yeah this one’s a doozie
This is awesome and inspiring
Thx for watching!!
I think that this is it honestly in terms of best bang for your buck sampler in 2023
How everything is nice and easy when Roland guy helping you out. Just wondering why Roland doesn’t produce content like this?
Oh yeah Dustin’s the man.
They do! They’ve done plenty of SP-404 mk2 reviews / tutorials
sorry I didn’t understand what’s his name
I bought sp after seing this vid
Wow love to hear this!
bloody sick vid
Thx for watching!

wooow is a f master class !!!! thnks guys !!
Thank you so much!
very cool vid
Thank you!
nice vid, lot of cool things
Thx for watching ! 😊
This is the crippling issue in the Digitakt and even more so the octatrack. Sample length needs to be babysat on the sequencer. Adding tons of overhead. Letting the samples run to their conclusion and just repeat without re-triggering is huge.
Yeah this is the best for that sort of workflow
Here's the kicker, pun intended.
😂
Wow!
🍻
You heard it. “stereo” . Now go do it with the Digitakt (mk 2 maybe)

I have just returned mine to the store.....Prefer the Maschine MK3
Yeah I get that - the pads on the MK3 are just the best in the game.
