Just added the AD300 to my kit as the functionality of the XPro trigger is far more user friendly compared to the Profoto B10 (which is massively overpriced). You know exactly what power setting you’re using as opposed to the Profoto system which just indicates a level up or down in power output at the trigger. The AD300 is a perfect size for my camera bag, has decent recycling time, with 300 plus full power flashes is more than adequate for most projects, it is extremely portable and a fantastic tool for anyone taking on weddings. Really functional and easy to work with. Great piece of kit Godox
Excellent video - answered all my questions. I have a AD200Pro and am going to buy one of these AD300s. I'm so happy you included all the info about modifiers too :)
I already have an AD200, AD400 and AD600, so of course now I will need one of these to fill in the gap :-/ very glad that they’re using the same charger as the 200, as it's hard enough to keep track of the whole box full of Godox chargers that I already have!
Great introduction and review of this product. I'm new to studio flash photography and just purchased an AD300, and am slowly learning about the product. Your review covered all of the key basics. I do think this is a high quality product, and a good choice for my first strobe. I'm a little disappointed in the mounting bracket since it is not top quality. I've read complaints, for example, that the bracket can't handle the weight of a large softbox. Time will tell. The Godox mounting system also seems incredibly convenient. Unfortunately, the Godox Softbox is on backorder everywhere, so I opted for an umbrella, which brings me back to the mounting bracket. Even a simple umbrella seems to test the bracket. Several other Godox modifiers are also not yet available in the US market. Let's hope that the full range of Godox modifiers will be available soon and that Godox considers offering a more professional bracket. Thanks again for an excellent video.
Looks great and wicked review, but be careful touching the flash bulb with your fingers, any residue from your fingers (which we all leave) can cause them to blow - gloves deffo recommended and cheaper than new tubes!
I just did a photoshoot on my channel with my godox ad300 pro and I love it. The modeling lamp is lacking but hey other than that I have gotten great results so far. Nice review!
i bought the ad 360 ii, and add ons . im still amazed with its power and use .its not too big its 3600w and well over powers the sun a little further away than the ad 300 ..so il not be changeing yet iv enough experience not to need a moddeling light anyway ..but yeah looks ok
Yes, you can use this indoor in a home studio environment, however no AC pack has been announced as yet. You will have to rely on the battery which provides 320 full power (300W) shots. When using the AD-AB Bowens adapter accessory, this opens you up to all types of Bowens Beauty Dish modifiers.
Is it normal for it to darken with each use? I've never used the flash before. Im new to this and I’m in the process of learning. It’s godex ad300 ? Yours seems to be darker too
If you mean the shots get darker with each use, this shouldn't be the case. The settings on the flash and camera are typically fixed (unless using Auto or TTL) and so long as other parameters don't change then the shots should be fairly consistent.
Have you taken a look at the Godox FV150 / FV200 which is a hybrid light that can be used as a flash and a continuous LED video light. Otherwise just using a continuous light works well
Both the AD400Pro and AD300Pro are great options, the AD400Pro may end up being better for you as a more future proof solution due to it's larger power, however the compact nature of the AD300Pro is really great. At the end of the day I would say your decision would come down to if you can see yourself needing the extra 100w.
I do think Godox put in more thought into how to help better serving their users. Help users save significant cost, reuse what they already have, at the same time get top quality products that at and in some cases exceeding Profoto products that cost 5X more. The only thing is they does not seem to innovate as much as Profoto and just copied whatever Profoto release.
As of this moment the AD300Pro still doesn't have an AC adapter to allow you to plug in to a wall outlet and use continuously. You'll be restricted by the battery capacity and perhaps having to purchase spare batteries to operate for a full day of shooting. Fingers crossed they release the AC adapter soon (e.g. of AC adapter is the AC26 for the Godox AD600Pro)
The only other accessories would be the AD-AB adapter ring and the Bowens ring and you're good to go with your Bowens modifiers. The accessories are inexpensive compared to other options.
That's enough to make it a deal breaker for me, too. With the price of the additional adapter, you may as well go for the 400 (or even the 600)... assuming the size difference is acceptable.
Godox made a new mount that adds zero value. Personally I liked Godox for being affordable with a common mount. Now they have a solution looking for a problem. At least add a benefit. Make it an easier mount like ProFoto. So frustrating to see a company do a money grab without any forethought.
Definitely understand where you're coming from. In their defence their modifiers are inexpensive and decent quality, unlike other brands that are happy to charge $200-300 per modifier.
The reason that they have a personal knob is not a good thing, it was ment to sell more accessories, so I’m disappointed about how this reviw trying to “sell” a marketing feature like a professional improvement. Is this review sponsored by Godox or it’s your personal pro opinion about the new Godox mount?
The review isn't sponsored by Godox however we are one of the main distributors in Australia. The Godox mount we feel is equally as useful and they're continuing to release affordable and versatile lighting modifiers for this mount. Such as a neat little 60cm AD-S60S parabolic softbox, reflectors and more. It all depends on what system you're already invested in.
ad 360 battery pack older technology ,, you did say that didnt you .. elinchrom The best flashes around .. use that same system , these godoxs are just bash about units i use for bouncing off mountain ranges . so i doth trash much better elinchrom units . the ad 360 ii is definately better
Safe to say that holding an external battery pack connected by a cable (or any wired technology for that matter) is older technology. The streamlined internal battery unit is a welcome feature.
@@hypop well elinchrom still use this so called old tech and its a welcome feature for the masses . its easier all round .. plus the folk at elinchrom dont make out you need to buy the latest models because your older models arent a fasion accessory any more .. which is the clear message im getting here

The pointy barebulb type of the old AD360 can make shadow edge lot more crispy if you wanna simulate direct sunlight

what is the best light to get for someone shooting music videos and photography???
hello, what light stand do you recommend for AD300 Pro?
Nice, upfront I can see a trio of these in my workflow.
Definitely would be cool to see them in action as a trio!
Rob great video as always... any chance you can do a video on the yongnuo yn 650 ex-rf?? Thanks for the great content.
So no extension head for the 300 pro in future?
great information, thanks!!
Our pleasure!

Ttl on 300pro ?
Yes
Hi, can control this by tt600 as master ?
The TT600 is not a master flash unfortunately
I have 2 ad200pro and ad600pro so I dont know which one to choose in between. I am leaning towards ad400pro more than ad300pro.

Does the wb29 battery from the ad200 pro last longer compared to the wb300p since it have more energy in it
The difference is minor at only 300mAh so only a few more shots.

Yes it can! The AD-S85W has the new Godox mount and so does the AD300Pro!

How does the Bowens adapter make it awkward? Lol it just works
