I know this is an older video but I’m glad you did it. I am up in the air between the 107 and 114. I trust in your opinion especially cuz if I recall you were a motorcycle cop and everyone of the cops I have road with are the best riders and know handling and performance better than 99% of people on two wheels
I needed that confirmation !!! I too bought a 2018 ..... Added Stage I Heavy Duty Breather and Vance & Hines Slip-ons plus a Stage II Torque Cam Kit ..... Oh .... did I mention this is for my first TriGlide Ultra ?? (hehe) And I LUV IT !! THX for the video and your comments !!
I agree with you. I traded my 2018 Road King M8 107 for the 2019 Ultra with the 114. I really can not feel much difference in the motor. I am glad I made the trade but not for the engine.
Great video. You helped a lot of people who I’m sure are struggling with the decision of upgrading after HD brought these bikes out with the 114. I love my 17 RGU.
Awesome thanks for the video. I've been looking ever since you told me the 2019s had 114's for some info on a 2019 Road Glide Ultra. I just recently sold my 2017 Ultra Limited with a 107 and will def be getting a 2019. I don't blame you though, I wouldn't trade up either, if you already got one, enjoy it. The 2018 is just as good. Love your vids man, I can't believe your channel isn't blowing up, keep the vids coming and the subs will rise I guarantee it. You make great videos.
Thanks zthang! Yes, the 2019's are awesome! That new Boom Box is magnificent. You cant go wrong with either one thats for sure. Thanks for the kind words! Take care and be safe!
I traded in my 2004 Electra Glide for the 2018 RG. I loved that 2004. I hear ya on the 2019 Special. That bike is super cool for sure! Thanks for watching! Be safe!
Picked one up a week ago. Was torn a bit between the blue and the black but took home the black Bomber. What an incredible machine, just purrs down the highway with absolute grace. Wanted to go bus this time around really did but i just couldn't :) Next time around ill be ready for the ultra or if i just need to have two :)
I feel the same way I went and rode one and my thoughts are the same as yours. The only regret I have is the infotainment system. There was no glare on the screen like on my 18. I did not notice a big power difference between the 114 and 107. Great video. Ride Safe!
Good review. I have a 2017 Road Glide Ultra and I was considering the 114 kit to match the 2019, but after your review, I too will stick with my 107 M8 and am very happy with it!
Yes sir, I just couldn't tell a difference Glen. I recognize that was a new bike, and so is mine, only 2000 miles on it now, but I cant justify the extra cost and the beating they wanted to give me on the trade in. Be safe man!
I did the same thing you did. I felt duped as the 114 came out right afterward :(. I did a stage 2 upgrade and I am happy enough today. Great video it makes me feel better haha.
I also just bought a 18. This video answered a question that's been nagging me since the 2019s came out. I paid about 2k under MSRP for the 18, I know I wouldn't have been able to buy the 19 for that. Thanks for the video, ride safe.
Here I am after recently purchasing a used 2017 RoadGlide Ultra. Huge discount over new and I’m thrilled with the 107. Not a huge power gain over the 103 I had in a 2015 Limited I had up till recently but the way it delivers that torque and horsepower makes it feel like a much more powerful machine. Power all throughout the rev range and much more refined while keeping that Harley character we crave. Great video and ride safe.
Your Not the only reviewer who did not feel a difference between the 107 & 114. For that reason alone I’m still very happy with my 2017 after 10K miles and will be keeping her . As far as the upgraded Boom Box I’m not a big Tech dude & could not care less! I got an I Phone 📱 that does all I need.
Thanks for the video. I also bought a "18 Road Glide Ultra in Twisted Cherry and love the bike!! I had the same concerns as you when I saw the '19 model and while I would love to have the new Infotainment system, I wondered abut the extra 7 CI. May just go with a Stage 2 or 3 upgrade but in any case, plan to put many miles on the "18. Again, thank you for the demo ride and be safe!!
Jerry, Glad you are loving the 2018! I hope they offer an upgrade in the Boom Box in the future since is the same size as ours, right now they say no, Im sure they want folks to buy the 2019..... Thanks for watching and hope you have many miles of safe travels. Im heading to Nashville on mine this weekend!!!
Wait until it is broken in. Plus the numbers are close. Also subconsciously you do not want it to be faster. I always do this when I test a new model and I realise I should have waited while trying to convince myself the new one is not any better lol.
Thanks for the ride review. I have a 2018 HD Road Glide Ultra (stage 1) and was toying with the idea of the 2019. Inclined to do another season on the 2017. And perhaps they will come out with the Billiard Blue for the Ultra !!
My 107 FLHXS with stage 1 (V&H / S&S) is a beast. Plenty of power on tap. Can’t wait to pull out the “cat” when my warranty is up. Also, there are videos regarding the testing of the new BOOM audio that demonstrate that it’s a nice upgrade but still having many of the same negatives as the pre 2019s.
Thanks for the video, HD just needs to add a electric windshield and full front fairing something like the defunct Victory Vision. I like the 114 and you can find buy them under MSRP.
Great video...!! $1300 difference is not much between the two models. If you added the Stage 5 kit to the 107, then it would really not be much difference in CI, however the cost would be significant comparably, to the tune of about $5000....So if I was wanting to upgrade the engine displacement then a trade in would be much cheaper, depending on the negotiation table, except depreciation value of the trade would be taken into consideration. But I digress! Love the content, always enjoy the motorcycle vids, and also the RV vids as well!! Keep em coming!! Ride safe and keep the rubber side down!!
No disrespect, and by all means I don't regard myself a good mathematician... Still, 1,300 if you are deciding from 2019 (107) std or 2019 (114) rgs. But if you are trading up from 2018, consider a few things. You already made some payments on taxes, interest, excise tax, and perhaps the down payment you dropped on that 2018. Wouldn't your money be better spent waiting another year and upgrading to an M8 124 kit, since your warranty on the bike will be up sooner than if you lose all that money on an upgrade to 2019? I've read, you get better bang on aftermarket upgrades. Screaming Eagle is for people trapped in Harley's Warranty and way overpriced for small gains.
I have a 2009 Ultra, no engine mods with 107 k. I am looking to move up to a Road Glide Ultra. Thank you for the great review. I’m guessing there is a pretty big difference between my 96 CI verses a 107...
I have been riding harleys since 2001 and have owned a 88.96, and now a 107 M8. If harley want to do anything they need to cool those motors down, even with the M8 I had a fan assisted oil cooler to help cool the motor down, also with all the harleys i have owned that chain drive primary is the achilles heel and need to go to a gear drive primary for smooth shifting for there should be no clunk sound in a new motor.
As of right now, you cannot upgrade the older Infotainment systems with the 2019 Infotainment system. I think this was a big mistake on Harley and maybe one day they will correct it.
Don’t hold your breath it’s called the Harley Tax! They did that intentionally! That’s what Harley does to screw their customers into a new bike ! However if you research there are people more than capable of installing that infotainment upgrade for you at Independent shops! Screw Harley !
I have the 2017 FLTRU I bought in June 2017. I have 21K on the bike and she’s getting the new infotainment system this year. I did a stage 2 with the high torque cam and it outperforms the stock 114. Best upgrades were the stage 2, Legend Suspension (front and back), and Custom Dynamics headlight replacement that give you much better lighting in corners at night. Once I have hit 50K, I’ll probably go with a 131 crate engine.
Thanks for a great review. I have a vivid black 16’ road glide ultra and was wondering the same thing? This review was just what I was looking for. For the way I ride (like myself and wife are precious cargo) my twin cooled 103 is plenty. You’ll never catch up playing the hp/torque game. They’ll always go bigger to give you a reason to upgrade. Now the new tech definitely gives me bike envy! Thanks again. Love that color choice. Did it sparkle in the sun or more flat?
I can say that the difference in the 18 RGS 107 AND the stage 4 on the same bike is huge! It doesn't feel like twice the power but its a big difference, I have 1600 miles on the kit. I was upset when I heard the new one came with the 114 but after learning they aren't the same I felt better. The guys infotainment is upsetting though😣
I like your video but was wondering how you decided to go Harley? I have a 85 Goldwing and am going to upgrade this year and after riding many different bikes (including R.G.) I am leaning towards either the BMW K1600 or Honda's Goldwing DCT, did you ride any of these before you bought? Just wondering............ Thanks for the great video.....
Hey Tri Pacer, I have owned 2 Gold Wings myself. Can't beat that ride! But I have always been a Harley guy. Out of the 10 bikes Ive owned, 6 have been Harleys. Just fits me, that all. I have ridden the BMW too, again great rides, all of them. Thanks for watching. Be safe.
Very nice video. I will be buying a new 2019 Road Glide Ultra early next year and am glad I waited. Would you have waited had you known then what you know now? By the way I liked and subscribed.
Thanks sigfan 45, Appreciate you watching and subscribing. Not sure if I would have waited. I had a long ride planned and wanted to take a new bike on the trip, so I was ready to trade. You will really enjoy that 2019. The Boom Box was awesome.
All I did to my 2018 Road Glide Ultra is add heated grips and a taller windshield as I'm 6'2". My 2014 Ultra Limited I had to modify as I found it unbearably hot in stock form. I don't have that issue with the M8. In fact, my stock 107 feels cooler than my modified 103 did.
@@TollesonLife It was a slight difference but I have a street Bob and went to the 114 test drives. Either way bot bikes have plenty of power. The 114s come with a stage one air filter
@@TollesonLife Well I WAS thinking of purchasing one, just not looking to be screwed as riding seasons nearing an end here & in a couple months they'll be blowing up my email with 0% financing offers etc on anything in stock lol.
Marco, the Road King is a great ride man. One of my brothers use to have one and loved it! Now a days I enjoy (on long rides) a little more protection from the elements which is why I enjoy the Faring models But, that Road King is an awesome bike in my opinion. Take care!
🌸I can’t ride anything other than a bicycle 🚲 L🤣L so I can imagine the power and amazing feeling that goes with riding those powerful motorbikes 🏍 plus it looks pretty C😎😎L🌸
The reason you weren't able to tell the difference is because the bike is not broken in yet. That's when you will be able to tell the difference. And the 114 engine is all top end torque used for when you are at higher speeds or two up other than that the 107 engine is just as good the only thing I would be looking to upgrade on an 18 would be the infotainment system. That's where the big change really happened. IMHO
I'm sorry but I don't believe I could say i didn't have any regrets if I was you... that's not to say I wouldn't be perfectly with the 2018, but you know deep down inside that you would really prefer the 2019... just saying, the new info system is really the biggest reason, not the 107 vs the 114.
As a 1st Generation Road Glide owner (Evo powered) I am ALWAYS in awe of how far these bikes have evolved over the years. Here's my 95th Anniversary Road Glide which is 100% stock and unmolested with only 136,000 miles on her. I was fortunate enough to get the Chief designer of this particular model (Willie G) to autograph her last year while at Daytona. th-cam.com/video/eIohnw2glPk/w-d-xo.html
Kenneth, If it were me, I would hold on to that bike! Its paid for, just an insurance payment. That thing will be a classic on day. Not saying I wouldn't purchase another bike with all the new improvements, but I would hold on to the 95 Anniversary. All the best man!
@@TollesonLife i sure do appreciate your response and advice. Luckily for me I'm blessed to have 2 bikes, i only ride the 95th aka "Annie" on special occasions. I put Annie in the 2019 Timonium International Motorcycle show last month (Feb) and she won a 4 foot tall 1st place trophy! I was not only SHOCKED but also humbled as I've had this bike for a long time now. If you search for "100,000 mile Harley Davidson" you'll see her rolling over 100k back in 2010 in Jacksonville Florida on the Dames Point Bridge. Thanks again for your response.
@@TollesonLifeWhat I find hard to believe that HD didn't make a 115th Anniversary Road Glide for their 2018 lineup. Historically they made an Anniversary Road Glide for EVERY other Anniversary year with the exception of 2018! I have a friend that works at HD customer service so I emailed him to inquire as to "WHY"?? His response was... "The Motor Company chooses not to make an Anniversary bike out of EVERY Model". Personally I feel that was a lame excuse... These are the best bikes in the fleet in my opinion, the person who made that poor choice should be "let go" and shown the door.
You said "super acceleration" and "fast". I got to ask what the heck your basis for those comments are? Compare this bike to two other touring bikes, a Goldwing or a 1600 GTL, this "900 pounds" is a moped.

Great Tenn! They are great bikes! Love my 2018! Thanks for watching, be safe out there!
The 107 is fine
Will never be able to upgrade the old infotainment system to the new one.
Hey John, thats what Ive heard. I was hopeful....lol
You will not be able to upgrade. The 2018 is set up differently when compared to the 2019 infotainment systems.
Got cha! What a shame man, that new system is very nice!
I like the helmet the other guy is wearing. Where do I get one?
Not sure, I will check with him Tuesday. He is off Sun/Mon.
Xyankee, I checked with my H-D salesperson about the helmet. He said it was a novelty (not DOT) called POLO style.
Tolleson Life - ah ok. Not that I’ve ever done that before ;).
the biggest thing i have seen between the 2 motors is that the 114 shift smoother than the 107
Raif, I can't say that I noticed that but certainly wouldn't doubt. Great bikes!
@@TollesonLife It was a slight difference but I have a street Bob and went to the 114 test drives. Either way bot bikes have plenty of power. The 114s come with a stage one air filter
Are you saying they are selling for more than msrp or less than msrp.
More than MSRP George, at least in the metro Atlanta area.
@@TollesonLife
Well I WAS thinking of purchasing one, just not looking to be screwed as riding seasons nearing an end here & in a couple months they'll be blowing up my email with 0% financing offers etc on anything in stock lol.
Hi. What is your opinion about the road king. Ciao.
Hey Marco, are you speaking of the Road King CVO?
@@TollesonLife No. Traditional Road King.
LOL ABZ! I love riding bicycles too! Great exercise when out RVing! Take care and be safe!
IMHO
Thanks for the info Nyc! Both models are awesome rides and love each one!
At what point is it broken in?
Is the infotainment system on the 18 really that bad,I'm looking to get an 18 soon.
Great video thanks a lot really has helped me.. the dealer ship guy riding with you that is a bad ass helmet I need it.
Thanks Gary! Stay safe out there!
I'm sorry but I don't believe I could say i didn't have any regrets if I was you... that's not to say I wouldn't be perfectly with the 2018, but you know deep down inside that you would really prefer the 2019... just saying, the new info system is really the biggest reason, not the 107 vs the 114.
I actually really ok bro. I have a 117cu in my Big Dog Chopper when I want to be "snatched" lol. The new Boom Box is incredible. Be safe out there.
Unfortunately you wont be able to upgrade your infotainment system.
Yeah, thats what Ive been told. Unfortunate. Great improvement on the RG.
@@TollesonLife yes it is really nice.
A stage 2 is all u ever need
Maybe Harley has some overpriced models like any other brand, but 27k for this one doesnt seem over the top IMO, regarding the competition
My local dealer has one. I want it!
Grab it Keith!
Just bought one today
Awesome Richard. Safe travels man!
Tolleson Life thanks. Pick it up tomorrow at Harley sport center in Duluth Minnesota. Traded my street glide in on it
All you doing is pissing yourself off.I got the 2010 road king with the 96ci a month before the 103 was made standard.

Wow! You have taken great care of that bike! Beautiful!
@@TollesonLife thanks, now I'm on the fence as to what to do with this bike. What would you do? Park it or keep riding it?
Yeah, I've owned 2 Goldwings as well. Great bikes.
7 very expensive cu...not worth it..I'll keep my 2018
I'm with you man!
no walk around no like
I think they're both about the same.
Yep, you made a mistake.
