- Riders welcome back to Sam's Bikes, where you know we only talk E-bikes and in today's video its all about the Specialized Levo alloy öhlins coil ltd and this review is a little bit different because my good friend Julian just bought the Levo, so we review it but most importantly we talk about WHY he bought which I think is super interesting.
We would like to thank our amazing sponsors, Schwalbe, Quad Lock, Crankbrothers, and Topeak, for making this possible. And we would like to express our gratitude to each and every rider for their support.

Riders I hope you like this different style review of the Levo Alloy LTD and don't forget to enter the competition to tell me what is your most important part when buying your next e-bikes
Most important part? Does it have a good review from Sam's Bikes!!!! 💪💪😉
Hey Sam, great review. It would be good to also see how you tune the coil shock, as there aren't too many with a good level of detail. I've just swapped to a coil and dialing it is a little different to an air shock, feel etc.
You are legend, Sam :) I guess the most important is what you need your bike for. Let's say you don't need the expert model if you ride 90% of your time asphalt roads. Maybe it's good for people to know the real difference in performance between normal and most advanced models and what are they made for. Because I think for many people's needs normal or comp model should be more than enough.
For me the most important is the noiseless ride, so that I can enjoy and focus on the trail and become one with the bike.
For me the most important is the noiseless ride, so that I can enjoy and focus on the trail and become one with the bike.
The most important factor of buying the next E-bike is when the wife gave you the green light to buy 1😂😂😂😂
Hahah yes I know what you mean
Yeah, as soon as she asks how much, is pretty much game over
Absolutely! All it took for me to get my wife's blessing was a good sale 🤘🤣
Word!
Lol
Sam
I am 68yrs young. Done 4,000km on Levo Alloy Comp. Still loving it riding Roc d'Azur trails, Loic's training ground.
You still have a few years in you yet 😂
Thanks John I know those trails pretty loose and fast
Hey guys , great conversation , I love my expert turbo Levo . Just feels planted and balanced
It’s fantastic that Specialized chose to build this Limited Edition high spec in Alloy version. I’m an Alloy G3 Levo rider and my only complaint is that the alloy top spec is only Comp (until this). Some of us larger /heavier riders still want top gear options on an alloy version, especially on a full fat e-bike. The Levo alloy is a bomber bike especially when upgraded!

The most important part of buying a ebike has got to be budget. I'd imagine at least 80% of riders will be searching for the best deal and the other 20% can afford to be more fussy and can be mindful of geometry and spec for example
good call
Thank you for sharing your thoughts. You have been entered into the Topeak giveaway. Good luck!
Another good E-Talk! I’ve done a couple of these with you and people do not appreciate how much work it takes! Thank you for that.
As far as the what you talked about, I have had 3 big crashes in the last 12 months and it’s very true that it’s hard to get your mojo back both mentally & physically. The older you get, the harder it is.
Saying one bike is better than another is mostly very subjective. However, I think that one can make the argument that the Gen3 is the all around best one. It’s an amazingly versatile bike that is infinitely configurable, there’s no disputing that it’s a good riding bike, it’s well packaged, and the service is near impossible to beat.
Thank you for sharing your e-bike preferences! You are now entered into the Topeak competition. Best of luck!
I love the quiet motor on my specialized levo comp, it’s one of my favourite bikes.
Totally agree!
Hello Sam, nice to see you.
I have a Trek Rail 625 and I want to buy a Levo Comp because of the battery.
Love the geometry of the Levo too.
Great review fit and reliability/service
Thank you for sharing your e-bike preferences! You are now entered into the Topeak competition. Best of luck!
I think the most important is the geometry of the bike "and the distribution of weight" I like to have fun bike
good point!

Been a subscriber from the beginning and love every video! For me the most important consideration is after sales support. Specialized sets the bar when it comes to taking care of the customer and has gone to great lengths to ensure you get what you pay for. The best example I can give is when they had the problems with the sprag bearings and drive belts breaking on the gen 2 motors they doubled the warranty to 4 years giving owners confidence that they wouldn't be left hanging. They also have been upgrading the weakest links incrementally and have ended up with a robust and reliable motor that lets the rider just enjoy the ride.

Great review! I became a Specialized fan due to customer service. Biggest issue for me is being able to ride every chance I get....without going weeks waiting for service. Rode Santa Cruz XC bike for years, still love it, but decided to try ebike, and bought a Levo Comp Carbon from LBS demo fleet....Loved the bike. Not long ago, did major derailleur damage (hanger bent/broke, derailleur swung around and put a gouge in seat stay). LBS called Specialized and they said they had the part to replace frame damage available if I didn't mind a slightly different shade of black. Had bike back in less than a week. (it helps that Specialized HQ is about 20 miles away). Was sufficiently impressed that I just bought the S-Works Levo T-Type.....but I'm keeping both bikes. I'm 64, need to get every ride in that I can!

Interesting video Sam and Julian. Had cause to use specialized care a couple of times recently on my levo comp carbon that's out of warranty. It's still great, but it's definitely not as fast as it was. Here in the UK it's at least 2 weeks for a major claim.
Still beats the hell out of others, especially Shimano.
As for canyon, and other direct sellers, really not convinced I want to try their after care
Agree, warranty and turn round time is crucial with just one bike. Specialized just warrantied my Levo expert motor very quickly just in time for a trip away. Have added Hope Pro 5’s and V4 brakes. Love my Levo 👍

There’s so much to consider when buying my next ebike but bangs for my bucks is definitely No.1
yep price is super important
That was me. Until now, bang for buck has time costs included in the equation
Thank you for sharing your thoughts. You have been entered into the Topeak giveaway. Good luck!
Couple of 2 wheel legends there 🍻 Key bike trait for me is a battery that wants a long hard ride - after 3 years and 10000+ km of battery anxiety on shimano ep8 630 wh batteries, the Bosch 750 wh sorts that out. 45+ km loops with 1500+ m climbing here we go…in emtb…and >25% left 💨
I'm no Spec fanboy either, but it's impossible to deny they make great bikes.
I'm TALL, 6'5"/ 250bs and I test road a bunch of eBikes. So for me, First, it's the overall fit and feel to make sure I don't feel like I'm going to destroy the bike with my size, Second, I really like the Eagle GX drivetrain, Third- Power. If I'm getting an eBike, I want something that can move my big butt around and still allow me to get rowdy. Conclusion- Just ordered the Turbo Levo Comp Alloy. And you better believe it that your last few videos helped me make that decision. Thanks for all the stats in those Shootouts. Great stuff. Thanks :)
What size is your bike and how does it fit you?.I'm 6'5" and no shop stocks S6's around here for me to even sit on to determine fit.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts! You are now entered into the Topeak competition. Best of luck!
@@skunkchasing Cool- Another GIANT riding bikes :) I went with a S5. It's the same GEO as my Yeti Arc. Fits really well. The S6, for me anyways, felt a little more "Streached" out. Way more than enough leg room to get the proper height. With the stock stem, the S5 feels perfect. Also remember, I'm 6'5ish, but normal size big guy. I don't have super long legs or arms. I'm proportional a bigger guy.
Great video, for me the battery size is my greatest consideration when buying a new E-Bike.
Thanks for letting us know what matters to you when buying an e-bike! You've been entered into the Topeak competition. Wishing you the best of luck!
Good conversation. It's all about the motor, top tube mounting for controls, suspension, looks and geometry, everything else can be replaced, improved over time..
Thank you for sharing your thoughts! You are now entered into the Topeak competition. Best of luck!
Nice talk! Tell more about geometry setup. How did he set headset, bb height, chainstay length?
Yep good call he is in the 64,5 and the low
I hope to be able to try a Levo one of these days. For me a good display is important. The specialized display looks to be one of the best out there.
Yep the mastermind rocks
Thank you for sharing your thoughts. You have been entered into the Topeak giveaway. Good luck!
Hi Sam! Does alloy makes more noise than carbon in a Turbo Levo? I haven’t used a carbon bike and considering the alloy one sell over here has basic specs compared to carbon, I’m leaning more towards to carbon in this case, but just wondering if I should be worried about noise or durability or something else between the two
Been Riding an Bosh CX for almost three years now without any issues at al, and do not really hear the Noise ether Loving it so much not bying anew Bike with any other Motor.
Thanks for letting us know what matters to you when buying an e-bike! You've been entered into the Topeak competition. Wishing you the best of luck!
Great video, the most important part when buying my next e-bike is that it rides better than my current S-Works Levo
Hey there! Make sure to check out the video where we announce the winners.👏😃 You've won! Congratulations to you! This is just a friendly reminder to send us your details before the end of the month. Thanks!
@@SamsBikes hi Sam. Thanks for message, can you confirm when video announcing winners is available and video title, just checking as you warn about scammers. Thanks again and keep up the good work. Was speaking with Rick at RaceCo last week and your name came up 😀
Cutting edge design and motor is most important to me . The Nicolai/pinion is probably going to be Ebike #8 ( Moro7 PW3, Husqvarna Hardcross LE Shimano, Turbo Levo Comp Alloy Mullet with latest Brose , Cube TM750 Bosch Smart, Orbea Wild M20 w/ Bosch gen3 , Plus a Moustache Samedi Fat (Bosch 3) and a Cube Nutrail Fat (Bosch2)................ Love the Channel Sam

@@SamsBikes TY Sam love the channel and the reviews ❤
What emtb has the best balance midair during jumps. All ebikes are forward heavy or front end heavy aren't. they?
What do you think about the Shimano cues linkglide 9,10,11 speed drive trains. Supposedly these are more for ebikes. With replaceable cogs.
I bought the kenevo expert and I picked it for the same reasons as Julian.
1, customer service/warranty
2, motor and battery size
3, supporting my local shop
And not to mention the bike is an absolute ripping machine 🔥⚡️⚡️⚡️
That Levo looks amazing with that colour scheme and forks 😎

@@SamsBikes thank you, fingers crossed 🤞
Can you tell me pls what kind of rattle is from the motor before my bosch does not have any rattle
Checking in from New Zealand . At 100kg , 49 and a dodgy back, I look for geo. A high stack is really important for me. Otherwise I’m just bent over too far. High rise bars help. Second is the motor. I want to get up the hill with little effort so I can enjoy the downhill, if I get too stuffed the downhill gets sketchy. Last is just general feel. I like a poppy bike even though I still can’t really jump :). I looked at this specialized levo for myself but having to chain coils to suit my weight ( 708kg coil) just got me concerned so bought the total opposite ( levo alloy ) and upgraded parts :). Would love to win the tool kit . Love the channel.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts! You are now entered into the Topeak competition. Best of luck!
Currently have the Orbea Rise H15 which is great but feel the need for full fat motor and the the levo has my interest. This great video has helped and I agree aftercare service is an important factor. Another factor is power Vs bike weight
I am in the same position: pretty happy with the Rise, but the EP8 RS keeps me longing for something like the Levo. What is your motivation?
@@btentusscher all my ebike mates are on full fat 85nm. My H15 is 22.3kg so don't wont a 25kg monster. A carbon turbo levo s3 would be close to this. 👌
Yesterday I unlocked the 85nm on my Rise with stunlocker and did my first ride this morning. Feels fantastic and the the battery behaves like normal. In love with my Rise again 😁

Just testing the specialized Warranty on the motor, it is booked in next Thursday. I will keep you posted on how they perform
Do so thanks
Buying my next ebike is up to different factors. Of course the price, but the most for me is the quality of the components and the feeling i have when i ride it. So far currently i habe to decide between this spezialized ltd öhlins and the orbea mh10 wild. Will see what it will be. Btw awesome videos you made Sam, thx for that
Thanks for letting us know what matters to you when buying an e-bike! You've been entered into the Topeak competition. Wishing you the best of luck!
I went with mondraker crafty xr ltd. Your video about that „rocketship“ convinced. So thx mate!
For me the most important factor of my next ebike is fit, size and comfort first, followed by battery size and power and then component spec. In that order. I can upgrade components so they come last on the shopping list. 👍
Thank you for sharing your thoughts! You are now entered into the Topeak competition. Best of luck!
For me the most important is the gei together with the travel front and rear. I like my bike to have as much as possible if you have a motor. I have the Pole Voima!
Yep having loads of travel is great
Thank you for sharing your thoughts. You have been entered into the Topeak giveaway. Good luck!
I have watched a lot of your motor review videos and seems like the Bros motor comes out near the top for power, torque and quietness. Lots of riders on Levos on the local trails and they all seem to love them. Also a lot of local dealers for service.

My Turbo Levo has given me the chance to carry on riding with health issues. Price point is super important for me.

Interesting questions, but want a hear more what Julian’s doing to smash his bikes 😅 legend. For ebike or any bike it’s geo, I’m a small fella so the reach, stack, wheelbase all makes a difference in what fits best for me, for the best ride. I’m building up my dream garage bike workbench, would love extra tools to tinker with my bikes. Thanks Sam🤟🙂
Mate, the merida broke due to me doing things a bit outside of what it was designed to do. I reckon the trek broke because one of the tiny bolts holding the motor to the aluminium plate that then bolts to the bike frame snapped and the motor was flapping around in the bike while I did my thang.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts! You are now entered into the Topeak competition. Best of luck!
Great video! For me it’s the warranty

Cracking review quality of service then price

I wasn’t a Sprsh fan before getting Levo but major reason for choosing it and would be consideration for next bike would be quietness ( I don’t care about the motor whine up hill). Also now we have a ebike service center close by on Gold Coast (Australia) I think serviceability of Brose would make it a major factor in decision of what to buy.
Thanks for letting us know what matters to you when buying an e-bike! You've been entered into the Topeak competition. Wishing you the best of luck!
For me the most importante factor are the confidance and assistance of the brand, and the design and confort of the frame 🍻🍻🍻

Hi Sam, I juste bought this bike, I'm a Big fan of Specialized, that IS m'y third Levo, I juste love this géométrie. I have a question, I watch your vidéo about the New mission control , I connect the Mastermind with mission control and I setup on the screen the AXS batterie pourcentage, but nothing appear, only three little _ _ _
It's because is a T-type AXS model ?
I love your vidéo
Gilles from France
Thanks for the kind works let me check on that in the original AXS it worked perfectly. Maybe try a. System update on both the AXS and the Levo and see
Regarding the comment on suspension set up- Ohlins 160 up front and cascade LT link w/ EXT coil out back. Not as poppy/playful as the stock expert build but I prefer it. It’s significantly more progressive, stable and capable. If I mostly
rode mellower/flatter trails, I’d keep it stock.
how can i get one of these limited models ? my local dealer ?
Most important for me is support. We have an amazing dealer close by and I know if it goes wrong, it will be done asap!!
For me this is very important as well
Thank you for sharing your thoughts. You have been entered into the Topeak giveaway. Good luck!
Looks like what it is. An Special one… interesting chat mate.
Great review guys. I think the modt important thing when buying a new ebike would be Geometry.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts! You are now entered into the Topeak competition. Best of luck!
Most important for my next bike will be battery and range since that is WHY I'm looking to change bikes. Fed up with Limited range of my EP8 and 630 battery with no extender available in the UK. Otherwise I just want a fun and playful bike ... but without range it limits SO much use and choice to do longer rides
Thank you for sharing your e-bike preferences! You are now entered into the Topeak competition. Best of luck!
The most important factor for me is geometry, particularly reach and stack height, doesn’t matter how good the rest of it is for me , if I get that wrong I get lower back issues and I’m not going to be enjoying it .
So it’s the first thing I look for .
Thank you for sharing your thoughts! You are now entered into the Topeak competition. Best of luck!
seems like you should be checking your frame hardware/bolts/nuts periodically, regardless of the rattling of the clutch/gearset of the motor.
The ohlins bike is pretty slick, looking though.
Just bought the 2023 Sworks Levo LTD! I need the tools mate!
I meant the T-Type not LTD.
How are you guys breaking so many frames? I've had a Decoy, 2 Levos, and a Trek Powerfly and never broken anything other than 2 motors and a bunch of drivetrains. I ride hard too.
Haha 🤣 I don’t know 🤷 Julian is a different beast he’s very hard on bikes
Seems like Specialized has the best support. That would really be a top consideration on a future bike, I really don't know how easy it would be to service a direct to consumer European company brand here in the States.
Yes I feel they do, not saying the others are bad but just different

Since I'm a Spec Fan Boy. I would have to go with Spec because they have it all. I would love to own the Levo Alloy LTD.

How is brose reliability?
Support and warranty. I dont think that any of the top-end e-bikes are bad bikes so it is the support that they offer esp if it is through your LBS.
Good call

Hi Sam my important factors are price, motor noise and reliability. Price would be first would love an s works but my budget is probably around comp carbon

So glad the built this in Aluminium 🎉 I really want a Kenevo but wont buy it as its only in crappy carbon 😢😭
what height Julien(Julian) is?, you mentioned his previous bikes were size Ms; I never tested a Levo, cutting it short from every list due to its differences in size from the enduro S-sizes(enduro and kenevo SLs); my perfect reach is around 460; my current big bike is 470 and the M sized Levo is 455, which I feel is on the small size, all the while the eTT of the S4 seems to be a stretch to me; also, the WB of the S4 seems about right, while on the S3 seems to be a little trail-y; that's why I am asking about his height because yeah..maybe I should reconsider the Levo.
Sorry mate I should of mentioned that he’s 181 and Iam 183 both on s4s
@@SamsBikes thx, I'm smaller in height...probably I can't pull an S4 like I mentioned above; thank for your reply. cheers!
Nah I'm 178 Sam
I think the Levo needs an increase in travel front and rear, a new model coming?
For me the most important is the noiseless ride, so that I can enjoy and focus on the trail and become one with the bike.

As a woman in my fifties, the total weight of the bike will be a big factor for my next bike. I currently ride a Levo Alloy which I absolutely love but I struggle lifting it onto my bike rack and over fences, etc. I want a sub 20kg, full power, removable battery with option for a bottle cage extender. So far the Obea Rise ticks all the boxes but I’m holding out to see what Specialized comes out with for 2025.

Most important when buying an Ebike 🤔.
Couldn't really pin it down to one thing.
Would have to be a combination of everything: Geometry, price, motor, spec.
Currently riding Orbea wild and loving it.
Yes is definitely a combination

I had the ohlins specialized enduro edition. It never really felt that great! Maybe it was just me. I could never get the feeling I wanted out of the suspension. Always felt to soft and rode way far in the travel both front and rear. Even put the biggest springs on it possible! Again may be it was me.
I must’ve missed it, did get he get an s4? 26kg 🤔 I’m gona go weigh my s4 comp alloy. Would love that bike but my comp alloy will have to do 😂
To me is the love for the Brand (Specialized) and the rest is history. My first good bike was a Specialized and then my first E bike is Levo Gen2 and my next one will be a Levo too. Don't want another brand; Specialized is not cheap but is the best in the world. SPECIALIZED is SPECIAL 😊😊

My next emtb will be carefully researched and scrutinized with the focus being on….. Power to weight ratio. I am rocking my dream emtb now and feel that the only thing that would make it better is less weight. I don’t want to sacrifice FullFat power for any of the SL models yet. If Specialized could get the Kenevo SL in the 75nm range and not gain any weight…… Hello new bike and good by any chance of driving a car made in the last twenty years!

The most important thing, when purchasing an emtb, is the post warranty service. I have a Specialized Kenevo. Left it for a check in the local specialized consept store. They didnt fix it. In a result the motor and the cable, conecting the battery, burned. Now they say it is my fault, and want to charge me for a new mottor and cable full price. If they even bother to fix the bike.

@@SamsBikes I have a development on my case. I got in touch with the main manager for Specialized for my country. He took the bike for repair. Tested it. It came out that the cable (connecting the battery and the motor) and the battery are broken. I bought a new cable. And the manager gave me a brand new battery for my e-bike because of the troubles I had in the past with the other workers. So i'm amazed how good thist time the customer service was. I also got a discount if and when i purchasing a new bike.
Be well Sam, your videos on e-bikes are great.

My most important eBike buying factor is if it can be derestricted easily. 25kph is no good for a full power eBike. Rim magnet smart system is likely a deal breaker for me.
