Recently grabbed a Levo SL Expert after riding analog for 6 years. It's currently my only bike. I ride at 10-30% pedal assist when riding alone as I focus on fitness and will only ride with more assist when riding with other stronger than I am and or with stronger ebikes. The bike rides great and almost feels like a regular bike. My only issue is the mixed wheel size. Not a fan of mullet, wish they had a 27.5in version.
Suggestion is to talk bit more about range - give us bit more idea what "not much range" or "acceptable" means. I mean, did you get 1hr out of it or 4hrs.
I often run my seat around half height on steep climbs to get my weight further forward. I find that is more important than optimum pedalling position. How about you?
I usually don't have to do that on my Transition Spire. If it's really steep, I go out of the saddle anyways. On an E-Bike that may be different. I thought that you always rode this way.@@TheBikeStudio
The weight of this bike completely blows away full fat ebikes it literally is a no brainer.. The reason you need more power motor is because it weighs so much more
Lots to like here, except the crazy price and the fact that the battery should be just slightly larger even if it added another kilo. I have found that while fun while on the power, I do not like the portly feeling of 50+ lb full power e-bikes and something lighter weight is for sure something that suits my riding style more as I place a higher priority on handling and feel than max pedal assist. So I am not tempted by a full power e-bike and don't plan to ever buy one (unless they can get closer to 40lbs). But the Levo SL or Kenevo SL are tempting, just not going to pay Specialized nutty MSRP.
In my opinion the weight of an ebike only becomes an issue when the terrain gets really steep. Generally I’m happy on anything under 50lbs but I prefer the feel of a bike with a full powered motor.
I have a 2023 SL in Expert. My ONLY complaint is knowing that the Pivot Shuttle SL uses a 60 NM motor. It is only 10 NM more , but that obviously makes a VERY noticeable difference.
I cycled around Glentress for 3.5hrs on Eco and used 50% battery. Get a bum bag for your water bottles? My full phat Turbo Levo is such easy mode compared to my SL.
Dude. No offence (love all your videos) but… could you..at least zoom out a little on your headshot 😅 I’m usually casting your latest vids on my living room 75” inch tv.. and…kinda disturbing to see a big head and that red nose.every.time (Lol) Sincere apologies 🙏🏻 keep creating your amazing content yea 💪🏻🙇🏻♂️
It’s a good bike but it still has the awful whine of the gen 1 motor I think specialized are paying these reviewers to play down the annoying motor noise. Just my opinion.
@Si1ent1 I got a while new bike on Warranty just before Christmas. Yes I am absolutely serious. Tiny crack in headtube discovered on service and they couldn't find a frame in my size.
Have got the comp with a 170 ZEB ult and carb hoops. Came from the 22 Kenevo. Absolutely Love this new bike. Totally agree with mtb+ analogy.
So you get more insertable seatpost than you did on the kenevo? I could never get the post completely out of the way
Excellent recap and footage. Especially like the contrast with the Kenevo, which seems like just a larger, more composed bigger brother.
Thanks for your kind feedback. KSL is a very different beast altogether, both incredibly capable though

When I go back to a full 29 it makes me realise why I loved them so much back in the day. More full 29ers I say 👍
You can put a 29er wheel on the back by flipping the "chip" on the Horst link.
The motor was introduced in the 2023 model.
Any chance for a comparison to a Santa Cruz Heckler SL ? With the headset cup in the slacker setting they seem really close
Will see what I can do
If the bleeding is the same as on the old Code/G2 it is definitely your „fault“ …it is the best system in the market.
You mentioned the quietness isn't industry leading for lightweight motors. Which motor(s) have you found to be quieter?
TQ

It’s just so subjective. Will try my best on the next one 👍
Do you always have the saddle that low when climbing seated?

@@harzenduro no, just keep the seat lower for riding gradients when I am close to looping out. It’s a lot more confidence inspiring as well
@@harzenduro I cycle up anything on my full phat Levo while eating ice cream.
nice footage
Thank you
would you take this or the Kenevo sl as your only bike?
Kenevo
I don’t think deity is an in house brand of specialized.
I think you’re right. My bad 😥
16,000 bike, it’s almost embarrassing!
The weight of this bike completely blows away full fat ebikes it literally is a no brainer.. The reason you need more power motor is because it weighs so much more
Certainly a big factor 👍

There are some incredible discounts to be had on brand spanking new Levo SLs right now though! Seriously.

I’ve ridden the Levo SL mostly in trail mode and find it more than adequate but I get ya, more power is always better 🤣
Yeah but it is Fazua …
True, but the Shuttle is more trail oriented and 1kg heavier (at equivalent build) so ….

Haha, great comment. Apologies for my massive head. My studio is kinda small so it’s tricky to frame the shot any wider
So true

Where is the weight? The title is lightweight!
You’re right. I didn’t mention it in the video, my bad. It is in the video description though…
I could swear I've seen a double bottle side-by-side water bottle cage somewhere. If not, get on your 3D printer and invent one.
Great idea 💡
Check out Wolf Tooth components. I have their side by side double water bottle cage setup on my Levo. It's awesome
£13500 wow i thought my Trek Rail XT was a lot of money
Certainly is very expensive. But for some people cost is not a factor, I guess that’s why Ferrari’s exist…
They're on sale, 30-40% off. The Expert SL Carbon , mostly indistinguishable from the SWorks, is currently US$7000 == 5,541.55 British Pound.
It’s a good bike but it still has the awful whine of the gen 1 motor
I think specialized are paying these reviewers to play down the annoying motor noise. Just my opinion.
No payment for this review, and I can confirm it is significant quieter than the gen 1, but far from silent
It's pretty darn quiet.
How does the sound compare to the current Turbo Levo
Your face is uncomfortably close to the camera. I can't watch it.
I apologise for my face
Destined to fail. Good bike but other offer way more value in todays market place.
I think sometimes we need to disregard the cost and just see it as development in the right direction
Too much money. The canyon Torque on E is way better then this bike and a fraction of the price
Not really a comparison but I get what you’re saying 👍
Yea that's great and all but if you have an issue you can go to a specialised dealer not not the same for canyon
@Si1ent1 I got a while new bike on Warranty just before Christmas. Yes I am absolutely serious. Tiny crack in headtube discovered on service and they couldn't find a frame in my size.
@@Si1ent1 You can still go to a bike shop and they can help you. Canyon will send you to a bike shop for help with the motor as well.
Canyon has terrible terrible customer service and warranty. No one has fit and finish like specialized - but I agree the price is insane
