so why didn't you put the ducati motor in the crosscart, since the frame is a lot more rigid I would think it would have held the power much better than that frame....

The chain tensioner would be generally Kinder and more effective if it's bearing pressure were a spring(15-25 lbs force?) rather than fixed- the large angles of departure on the wheel suggest losing at least one link would be helpful. The chain angles going over 15% are generally frowned by the chain makers (the angle of the chain on to and the chain off of the tensioner). If it helps, great; if not, it's free advice and worth at least what you pay for it!
Thats right. I had so many attempts with b.s ebay chain tensioners so i used a skateboard wheel supported both sides and welded on by a swivel point and then made an adjustment bolt to push it where i need it.👍

Needs a Jack shaft with 2more sprockets to further reduce the ratio, could mount it up above existing skate wheel. This would make it awesome. Id Love to see more Ducarti content 😉 . Good work guys ☺

I'm 70 and going deaf. I can't believe that ya'll don't use mufflers. At least a small muffler. I have been following you guys for a couple of years and when you put the 4 cylinder 750 cc bike engine on a go cart, you really got my attention. And that Ducati engine, Hell Yes!
I want to see an Ike v John go cart build off!!!! It would be interesting to see what you both individually would come up with. Make it more interesting by putting a budget amount to spend to complete the project :)
Using an Idler sprocket is a good idea. It will help with the drive train lash induced by the short clutch take-up. The trick is making that idler hold the chain and allow for movement. My idea is to install the old beat up drive sprocket on the shaft of an automotive belt tensioner and mount the tensioner to allow for a good range of motion.
Can't forget to check Isaac out LOL. It's going to be an epic Battle with the Ducarti and the Trail cart. Not sure which is going to win but the Ducarti has no ground clearance, That is a disadvantage. Going to be cool to see he Video. Faithful Subscriber forever from Southeast Missouri... I am going to recommend that you guys put a dual sprocket set up on both the Ducarti and the X-cart. I am sure you know this, but having the power between multiple sprockets takes some of the strain off each of them.
I've said it 100 times, the Polaris Trail Boss 250cc 2 stroke engine from the late 80's-middle 90's makes nearly 30 hp! simple to work on, cheap and easy to acquire, parts available, electric start, torque converter clutch built in...last forever, at least my 1988 has

That chain tensioner needs to be supported on both sides. There is no way you'll be able to keep it straight without it. also, cut a groove in it.

definitely needs a triangular plate on both sides but no groove because it will groove itself.

Throw it in the woods and make the chain the right size. These guys think the chain has to be tight. They always over tighten chains.

No, unfortunately explicitly in the rules the golf cart can't be radically modified
Radically modified is a matter of opinion, in my opinion that's a modest modification, like adding decals....
CarsandCameras couldn’t you get a stock Ducati engine and put it in the golf cart and it wouldn’t be radically modified if it’s stock.
Just gotta keep it "appearing stock" and have a few mufflers in line
To be street legal the cart can't exceed 25mph. So it makes no sense to modify the golf cart

Why not use an idler sprocket for a chain tensioner? Much more durable.
