    I have made a lot of zipper pouches and tried many different zipper methods. I can't wait to try your method. I don't have an industrial sewing machine and find that sewing the side seams with the zipper inside to be very hard on my machine and on my nerves!!! I know the pouches will turn out very professional with your wonderful method! I am going to make the front panel from EPP hexagons so this is perfect in that I will not have to deal with one of the sides. I can adjust it to the length I will need to make the seamed side look nice. Thank you for your very easy to follow tutorial.

      @@justynathandmade Zipper pouches are so handy and I enjoy giving them as gifts. I'm going to make one tomorrow because I can't wait to make one and it will take awhile to get my hexagon panel made. I learned the Butler method of installing zippers where you pull the zipper into the seam on one side, but then you still have to deal with the other side. You have really simplified zipper pouches. I also learned to sew the seam allowance in the lining 1/4" larger and that makes it fit so much better. One other little trick I learned in sewing the lining is also helpful. Where you leave the 4" opening for turning, instead of just backstitching on each end of the opening, I back stitch and then make a 90 degree turn and sew down the 1/2" to the edge of the lining piece. It makes it easier after turning to get the opening to line up nicely so that you can sew it much closer to the fold. I hope that makes sense. Anyway, thanks again!

    Thank you SO MUCH for this!! I'm in a pinch and need to find a zippered 11" bag. If I do this and it to be bigger, how would I adjust the measurements of fabric? So for instance, if I need a finished bag of 11" x 10" would I just double those measurements twice?

    • @justynathandmade
      @justynathandmade  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You need to add the difference of the measurement to the finished size of the project. So if you need 11”W you need to add 7” to the W and to get 10”T add 5.5” to T. I hope that will be as close as possible to what you need.

    • @justynathandmade
      @justynathandmade  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      If you topstitch before sewing the side seam it make is harder to match the top seam. You would have to leave at lease 1/2" on each side without topstitching. I think leaving topstitching for later give a better result.

    • @justynathandmade
      @justynathandmade  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you! If you want to use “ready-made” zipper, you would have to cut the end and split it. You can sew in both sides, folding the “beginning ends” of the zipper at the half point. So you tape wouldn’t be continuous, but you could still take the panels from one piece of fabric.
