You give just the right amount of information and are so pleasant to listen to. I really enjoy your videos and watch them even if I never plan to make an item you're making. I always walk away knowing that if I wanted to, I could, with your instruction. Thanks a lot!!
I needed a refresher on zipper into outer and lining fabric on these but watched your entire video because you were great. Your decked out machine is fun and those shears are the bomb!
So glad you're back to a semi-regular posting schedule. Really enjoy how approachable you make sewing and garment making. Like the t-shirt too, See you space cowboy.
I love your videos! I've been trying to teach myself to sew and you are so helpful. My husband has been a Star Wars cosplayer for over twenty years and I hope to one day make him a costume.
New subscriber here. This is a great tutorial. Your clear, concise and easy to follow instructions paired with your male voice is so refreshing. Thank you!
I have been watching a few videos of how to make this and attempted, each time I ended up with the zipper backwards. I watched your video and got it right an hour ago. Thank you do much for sharing this.
I've recently discovered your channel as I'm trying to learn to sew and it's fantastic how well you explain things! It great info without hyperbole or artificial cheerfulness and I am here for it. Keep it coming!!
Thank you so much for the lovely comment! It's great that people like yourself show appreciation for videos without the whole "Game Show Host" attitude. Hope you're making some great new stuff this summer, cheers!
Thank you so much for showing the part of the zipper being folded down. I've watched so many videos and no one tells us this part. I think they think we should know, but being a newbie, I'm clueless.
I usually don't subscribe or follow anyone, BUT I LOVE your precise instructions and I don't get bored. I've watched all your videos up to this point and not once have I fast forward, which is a compliment. You are so down to earth which is another plus. I loved watching you teach Evil Ted Smith to sew. I was a little heart broke that I couldn't find the jean or hoodie patterns. I really wanted to make them, but trying to find similar patterns.
Todd your absolutely amazing! I love your teaching methods. I’m not a beginner, however I love watching your tutorials. Can’t wait for the next one. Take care.
Thanks a ton! I don't have too many videos shoots pending edits actually, hope to crunch a few more out in the next few weeks :) Hope you enjoy the rest of your summer!!
Great instructions, I love my pouch!! I'm a beginner, super slow and still learning and you are a great teacher! Cannot wait to do another project with you.
This tutorial is very clear and easy to understand!! I think beginners would definitely benefit from this. And I also do like how you decorated your sewing machine with stickers, I should do that too! Haha!
This was an awesome tutorial, very thorough, especially for folding the zipper before sewing so that it lays properly when the bag is turned out. This was my first sewing project (ambitious?) but it turned out amazing. Great to start a new skill with a successful outcome. Thank you! I made mine with a canvass duck exterior and flannel lining from a recycled shirt. Super durable and I will wax the canvas for added durability.
Awesome! So happy this was helpful, good choice on the fabrics too. Duck is such an underrated material. Hope you can make some wild new stuff this winter, cheers!
I found your video as a nice refresher on how to do a zipper pouch, and learned some better ways to sew! Thank you! Im still a zipper noob, so this was helpful. 😊
Great to see you post again! Your messenger bag series is my favorite, I've made two of them with that same pattern and following your videos as a guide.
This is such a great tutorial! I love how you break it down step by step and explain each step! Thank you for sharing this with us! I look forward to watching more of your videos!
Love your tutorial and I often refer back to it if I forget and just want to make sure I'm stacking my layers right. The 1st zipper pouch I made the tutorial was wrong and after ripping the seams apart twice I found your tutorial and almost immeadiately I knew I had to be correct as It was different from the other one I was trying to learn from. I love how you explained the zipper foot also. Thank you kindly. I will also try more of your tutorials in the future. Thank you again and keep up the good work.
Dude, awsome! Made one today as my first real sewing project and it looks amazing thx to you! Clear instructions with all necessary info Thank you for really valuable content
Great job and thanks for the zipper demonstration that is one of my hardest problems but I am gonna try your way. Your demonstration/instructions look so easy.
I just discovered you a few days ago I'm brand new to sewing the clarity in which you instruct is awesome not everyone can teach I just want to ask if you would teach a cross body bag just like this pouch with an inside zippered compartment thank you.
Double pins! How have i not seen ghat before? Cannot tell you how many times I've been zoned out and just tore through my opening for turning. I've ignored different colored pins, a pencil mark, using a clip instead. Maybe double pins will work? It doesnt happen EvErY time but it happens enough I'm willing to try a new habit. Thanks!
I have the hardest time with my zipper foot sewing straight lines....it alway tends to bounce off the zipper tracks and make my stitches jump...love the bag and coffee fabric!
That pair of scissors are OLYMPIC suze...lol! I do believe they are bigger than my car...😅 The bag is VERY cute and your instructions are easy to follow...❤
Hi is there any chance of you making a video on making up a zipper with top and bottom stoppers for open zipper s I'm a novice and I really struggle with this as I'm sure there will be a hell of a lot more like me and once again thank you for all the videos and the explanation is fantastic on them all yours konrad
I've been sewing for 3 years now and I always learn a lot from your tutorials, even this far along :) Question: Why do you prefer using pins when joining the panels? I almost always use clips
Same here, sewing for about 10 years and I still feel like a total beginner most of the time :P I prefer pins for garment sewing because there is minimal risk of slip. When I'm doing bags, costumes, and upholstery I prefer clips since the material is much thicker. So it's about 50/50 of each :)
I liked the video, Chris, but: (there is always a but😏) when trimming anything you need to turn inside out use your pinking shears instead of scissors to reduce the bulk. Much love to you, Chris.
Thanks for watching, I have no idea what I'm doing so I just kinda wing it every time I film something. One of these days I'll get the proper equipment.
In my experience with Brother machines, the sewing or embroidery functions are both equally good on either hybrid or stand-alone machines. The difference is stand-alone machines usually offer more features for the specific tasks
This tutorial was great to follow but somewhere I've made a few mistakes. I shortened the lining when I pinned everything to go around the edges and I've not caught the zipper properly either end. But nevermind I'll try again tomorrow!
I still haven't done it yet, but I'm planning to film it this week (men's dress shirt demo). Thanks for being patient, I'll get to work on that soon! Thanks for watching :)
Nice tutorial, simple approach to a nifty project. I have a question. What brand are and where did you obtain your scissors from, I would like to get myself a pair of those, nice! 😯
What are you using to cut the fabric? When you say lining panels what type of fabric is it that I should look for ? What kind f zipper is that ? I saw a lot in the store sorry I’m completely hew
i'VE MAD SIX OF THESE POUCHES SO FAR...I MAY BE ADDICTED
They are lots of fun! And useful, also great for gifts.
I like to say the difference between, "Where did you buy that?" and "Did you make that?" is an iron.
Exactly, it's such a huge deal! Thx for watching 😁
That and straight seams, not wobbly stitches.
@@patriciajrs46yea I’m a beginner and I definitely need to work on that.

@@TockCustomDo you play guitar?
That coffee cup fabric is so random and weird, I love it. Really good video man, Ill be sure to give this a go. One day zippers wont scare me anymore!
lol thx man, hope you have fun making some new stuff this summer. Love the music on your channel, super chill :)
I love your videos! I've been trying to teach myself to sew and you are so helpful. My husband has been a Star Wars cosplayer for over twenty years and I hope to one day make him a costume.
Thank you so much! Hey I got into sewing to make cosplays, so I totally understand the struggle, hope you're having fun with your projects :)
New subscriber here. This is a great tutorial. Your clear, concise and easy to follow instructions paired with your male voice is so refreshing. Thank you!
Awwww, thx so much! I love sharing what I've learned. Planning lots more soon, appreciate the support!

I have watched 100 videos on bags. Your the one that showed me the best. Every step. I got it on the first try. Thank you. Keep them coming
Well that makes me very happy to hear! Thanks so much for watching, enjoy all your projects over the holidays :D
Love your videos they've helped me get into sewing, went from knowing nothing to tailoring my clothes and making fun pouches!
That's terrific! Happy to hear you're having fun making some cool stuff this summer. Thx so much for watching 🤗

"Game Show Host" energy... Well, using that forever. And yes, I find it very off-putting.
Thank you so much for showing the part of the zipper being folded down. I've watched so many videos and no one tells us this part. I think they think we should know, but being a newbie, I'm clueless.
I like the way you methodically explain the way you make the zipper pouches, excellent video and thanks for posting.
Excellent project, I’m going to use this for showing people how to start off with easy sewing projects. Thanks. Looking forward to more of your work.
Terrific, hopefully it helps you and your people learn a cool introductory project 🤗
Great video Todd, you showed this process do well, and it is so nice to see a new video from you as well.
Thanks so much for watching! Hope you get to make some fun new pouches 😊

I love this. Thank you so much. I didn't realize how important ironing is!
So happy this was helpful! Also yes, it's crazy how much I iron while making pretty much anything. Thanks so much for watching :D

Oops. Missed the beginning. Saw the dimensions. GREAT video!

Hi Chris! Love this video. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks so much for watching :D
Thank you for a wonderful explanation. Please please please can we have some more beginner projects and fancy dress costumes for kids ?
Quick question regarding sewing/embroidery combo machines: is the sewing function quality as good as a stand alone sewing machine?🧐
In my experience with Brother machines, the sewing or embroidery functions are both equally good on either hybrid or stand-alone machines. The difference is stand-alone machines usually offer more features for the specific tasks

Not yet, but that would be a great idea!
How would you add a small pocket on the inside?
