Hello dear friend, I have owned my Jeep Grand Cherokee for 16 years and have not changed the transmission fluid in all that time. Took it to a garage about 10 years ago to top it up and that's it. The car working fine. Regards brian

Great video! Bucket idea is good. Most videos on this don’t include the cooler flush. Thanks!!!

Hello, did you had any issues with the transmission before you replace the filter and fluid ?
if not check fluid again to see if the level is were should be and always add as much you take out, also make sure is compatible with your car as transmission fluids have different properties.
    good luck

Hi mate, Thank you for taking the time to do this great video on serving the transmission. when you run the flush through did you run it in drive or neutal ??? or doesn't it matter? or do I slowly run through the gears, sitting in it with hand brake and foot on the brake to flush it right out ??? Thanks again mate ,. Great video instructions. :-)

THANK YOU for this video! I needed to change my tranny fluid and then had my shifting solenoid go out so I did a complete fix as well as flush! I have 2000 Grand Cherokee 4.7 and thanks to your tips, I was able to do a GREAT job flushing my system! Your idea to mark a bucket for volume was brilliant! I error-ed on the safe side and added back maybe .25 Qt less just to be sure. Secondly, simply pulling off the hose and getting the rest of the fluid out worked really well! I'd take about 2 qts out, stop, and refill, and soon I saw clean and bright new fluid so I stopped! When I was done I had to add about a quart to get the lever right! Thank you again for the great video! You made it easy on me!!!!!

This video is for a 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee with a 4.7L V8. It has the Deep Pan Transmission that has two filters (one flat and one spin on). The transmission is the probably an 45RFE. You really need to get the transmission model # off the drivers side of the transmission to make sure you get the correct filter(s). There are about three types and there is a difference between 2WD and 4WD also. Time the time to check so you get the correct parts.

Jim Dandy easy to do so especially most autopart stores ask for the model of your vehicle and what engine and if it’s 4wd or not so they pretty handle it all unless you order it online.

I have the 45RFE transmission in my 99 Grand cherokee, I changed the fluid and both filters the other day, afterwards when i was about to go for a test drive the chek engine light came on and the transmission slams quite roughly into revesre and drive gear, and when to take off in drive i have to go up to 2000rpm before the car slowly is floating foward, I scanned it and received faulty code P1784, Also i had no pressure from radiator return hose like you had in this demostration video.

I have a 2001 WJ 4.7. I bashed the transmission pan real good and put a big crease in it while four wheeling. I used your example and the ramps are a great idea. Idea very convenient and quick to get the vehicle up in the air and leave it there safely. Thank you

I've a 2001 4.7, gearbox sump is leaking alittle! I rang jeep for a lamba sensor and the gaskets! They tell me a 2001 doesn't have a gasket! Just use the gasket glue stuff! Same with the diffs!!

    • @terrystratford1235

@@chrisg.6927 what oil did u use? Any issues with a grumbling noise turning hard left? I was told to do 8 figure of 8s! Didn't work! Had to do that plus top up diff oil, took another 1/4 litre! I used 1 small bottle of the friction additive! Should I use more? Jeep don't know as my 2001 wj is too old! The mechanics don't know anything on jeeps older that 10 years!

    • @terrystratford1235

@@chrisg.6927 umm!? Interesting info! Noise wasn't there until my mechanic changed the diff oil! Wrong diff oil!!! Only did 60miles until correct oil and additive was used! Jeep and utubers said it will be ok and shouldn't have damaged anything! Is a cv axel expensive? Can u tell by lookin at it if it's faulty? this is my 1st jeep, ive had old range rover and jags all v8! So know about the cost of upkeep! But the prices on jeep stuff!!!!!! And I've replaced so much in the 5mths iv had here! Was a one owner fsh low mileage, a so Called good one! Apparently what I'm experiencing is the same as if the diff oil is old and past it!? All the boots r gd! Its more a rubbing grind, not metallic! Only things that she needs r rear shocks and A frame bushes! I've done front shocks and all oils and filters! tyres soon! But it's this noise that really upsets me!
