I just wanted to take the time to tell you thanks for making this video and several other videos that show how to do stuff like this, it really does help a lot to to see what you are getting into before laying under the vehicle , thanks to this video i was able to get everything ready that i would need before getting under the vehicle thanks to this video, I used a concrete mixing pan from the home improvement store to catch my fluid, Thanks again.
1st video I have seen or heard of adjusting bands. Holy smokes. 😨 Is that something I need to do on my 93XJ with the AW4 as well? Glad I found your channel. subbed.
Does the transmission filter have a o ring that you have to replace. Or does it just sit flat against that hole and the screws hold filter in place. Reason being I just got my transmission filter and there is no oring in kit. Only has a little orange around hole on filter???
I'm new at all this (only 4 months into any form of working on vehicles) and I have to do this, along with finishing an entire engine swap on my daughter's 01 Jeep Laredo 4.7l. Yes, I'm in over my head and no, I don't have help, nor can I afford to pay someone to do it. I'm on my own. What are those bands for?? Do I have to adjust them?? Basically any info helps at this point. I'm trying but this whole thing is overwhelming as hell. How many bands are there to adjust??
The forward bands are in one group and only need aligned if there is a lot of mileage in your trainging out the fluid. The reverse band is only one and it's internal to the transmission pan. Adjustment is really only needed like I said with higher mileage or full fluid change with filter.

I'm glad it helped. I first started these out of necessity, and still do. I have a bunch coming as well. From the front differential, to tune ups.
I appreciate this video, it gave me the confidence to get it done myself.
