Traffickers going into poverty ridden countries and telling parents they're gonna send their children to good schools at least was (if not still is) a huge problem. A couple years ago i remember my mom telling me about how one organization was busted for taking kids, telling then parents they were going to send them to a good school for a few years and then give them back educated with better opportunities, but were actually selling off the children to unsuspecting couples looking to adopt children. They would take kids at like 3-4, so when they grow up they wouldn't really remember their birth parents. The only reason they were busted was because one of the children remembered, and when they learned English, they kept talking about their true mom and family to their adopted parents, who were then alarmed (bc the organization system told them the child's parents were dead or something like that, i can't quite remember) and they reported the situation to investigators.
I remember reading about a case not so long ago, where an American family adopted a little girl called Namata from Uganda, only to later find out from her that what the adoption papers said were all lies, and that her mother had been tricked into signing away her parental rights under the belief that her daughter would be receiving a good education. This led the family to discover that what they thought had been an adoption wasn't at all and that it was a child trafficking scheme. Ugandan children would be taken from their parents (under the promise of a better education) and sold away to unsuspecting American families. The family managed to get Namata back with her mother in Uganda, and they kept in touch with Namata and her mother via Skype.
All she cares about is keeping up with her friends. Doesn’t care if she has to use slave labor to do it. And the girl was scared and didn’t want to say anything but as soon as they mentioned her brother she found the courage. 😢
And good on them for bursting in when they saw the subtle cry for help from the girl. Naturally she had to be right in plain sight for it to be anything close to legal, because you know this lady would have denied that she was there if she wasn't in plain sight.

This was an actual case I think In the uk or us. But the boy was kidnapped and brought to the uk and of course his body was found like the one in this video. They had to trace the boy body back and he was from Africa and the mom actually thought they was helping her with her son just to find out they tricked her into getting her son only to be used as a sacrificed.
As someone who is friends with a lot of Santeria, Vodoun and other African Diaspora religious practitioners, and who has participated in many of these cultures' rituals, I am very glad this show used its voice to stand up against the religious bigotry and ignorance that practitioners of these religions face, every day. No one in any temple i have been in has ever sacrificed a person, and when they do do animal sacrifice, what is done isnt much different than what any rural person does when they want a chicken dinner. The only difference between what is done in ceremony vs the farm is that we share our chicken dinner with the Gods as honored guests first before eating it.

Otherwise a chicken killed in a sacrifice is eaten , the same way it would be eaten in rural family's dinner. This is based on a 2001 case from the UK, about a little boy who detectives named ‘Adam.’ They tested his teeth for isotopes and found the region in an African nation (Benin City, Nigeria,) where he had spent the most of his life before his death. Investigation proved that he was most likely trafficked to the UK and sacrificed in a pagan ritual, before his body was dismembered and his torso dumped in the River Thames. To this day, his murder remains unsolved. A key witness, however has told police that his name is Patrick Erharbor and that she used to look after him when they were both living in Germany, before he was trafficked into the UK. There are, however, doubts about her mental state and if she is really telling the truth. It seems like poor child was not just taken from his family by strangers, but that he was taken through multiple countries, on his way to his ultimate death in the UK. I really hope they find justice for this little boy!
Spoilers for the episode ... The first crime is sort of a red herring to lead to the real meat of the episode, which is about the slavery ring from Nigeria. For anyone wondering if the Voodoo thing meant anything for the first murder, it didn't. In fact, its was mentioned the murder 'couldn't' be a voodoo sacrifice since it happened near a lake, which I guess is a big no-no when it comes to voodoo sacrifices. The boy was bought as a slave and r*ped repeatedly until his owner was done with him and killed him to make it look like a sacrifice. As for the slavery ring itself, they find the slave traders who show no remorse (not surprisingly) and don't want to play nice. The Nigerian woman the detectives went to for the missing children? She's a consul and she was there when they found the slave ring leader and informs him he will be deported back to Nigeria where he will be executed, which in Nigeria means death by firing squad where she delights in telling him he will be shot in the ankles first, so that the gunman can walk up calmly towards him and take point-blank shots at his vital organs.
Nigeria does a way better job with such freaks than America. Letting them live with free room and board, for their sins, is bullshit. I don't care if gen-pop already gets to use them as toys, they can serve way more use than that.

Not me. I’m a church going man. I would prefer that my faith cooperate fully with law enforcement, and I would prefer law enforcement to respect the rights of all people. The major stigma is that if a religious object is found near or around a crime scene or a religious person commits a crime that the church approves of that crime. That’s an ecological fallacy, assuming that one means all. In that scene, they had no right to assume that the religion approves of the crime. A lot of religions use candles. This was an actual case I think In the uk or us. But the boy was kidnapped and brought to the uk and of course his body was found like the one in this video. They had to trace the boy body back and he was from Africa and the mom actually thought they was helping her with her son just to find out they tricked her into getting her son only to be used as a sacrificed.
As someone who is friends with a lot of Santeria, Vodoun and other African Diaspora religious practitioners, and who has participated in many of these cultures' rituals, I am very glad this show used its voice to stand up against the religious bigotry and ignorance that practitioners of these religions face, every day.
No one in any temple i have been in has ever sacrificed a person, and when they do do animal sacrifice, what is done isnt much different than what any rural person does when they want a chicken dinner. The only difference between what is done in ceremony vs the farm is that we share our chicken dinner with the Gods as honored guests first before eating it.

The only difference in this sort of animal sacrifice is the ceremonial context in which the animals are killed. Otherwise a chicken killed in a sacrifice is eaten , the same way it would be eaten in rural family's dinner. We just invite the Gods to "have their share" first, like one would for any honored guest.

This episode gets even more dark as it goes on.
This is based on a 2001 case from the UK, about a little boy who detectives named ‘Adam.’ They tested his teeth for isotopes and found the region in an African nation (Benin City, Nigeria,) where he had spent the most of his life before his death. Investigation proved that he was most likely trafficked to the UK and sacrificed in a pagan ritual, before his body was dismembered and his torso dumped in the River Thames. To this day, his murder remains unsolved. A key witness, however has told police that his name is Patrick Erharbor and that she used to look after him when they were both living in Germany, before he was trafficked into the UK. There are, however, doubts about her mental state and if she is really telling the truth. It seems like poor child was not just taken from his family by strangers, but that he was taken through multiple countries, on his way to his ultimate death in the UK. I really hope they find justice for this little boy!

The first crime is sort of a red herring to lead to the real meat of the episode, which is about the slavery ring from Nigeria. For anyone wondering if the Voodoo thing meant anything for the first murder, it didn't. In fact, its was mentioned the murder 'couldn't' be a voodoo sacrifice since it happened near a lake, which I guess is a big no-no when it comes to voodoo sacrifices. The boy was bought as a slave and r*ped repeatedly until his owner was done with him and killed him to make it look like a sacrifice.
As for the slavery ring itself, they find the slave traders who show no remorse (not surprisingly) and don't want to play nice. The Nigerian woman the detectives went to for the missing children? She's a consul and she was there when they found the slave ring leader and informs him he will be deported back to Nigeria where he will be executed, which in Nigeria means death by firing squad where she delights in telling him he will be shot in the ankles first, so that the gunman can walk up calmly towards him and take point-blank shots at his vital organs.
Nigeria does a way better job with such freaks than America. Letting them live with free room and board, for their sins, is bullshit. I don't care if gen-pop already gets to use them as toys, they can serve way more use than that.

Not me. I’m a church going man. I would prefer that my faith cooperate fully with law enforcement, and I would prefer law enforcement to respect the rights of all people. The major stigma is that if a religious object is found near or around a crime scene or a religious person commits a crime that the church approves of that crime. That’s an ecological fallacy, assuming that one means all. In that scene, they had no right to assume that the religion approves of the crime. A lot of religions use candles. So are all of them guilty because a crazy person used a candle?
