I like that the remake actually has a callback to this. Where you can steal a weapon from this monster (changed into a boss) for Aerith as well. I wish all the other characters had a "steal only" type weapon.
You can skip everyone's Kalm weapon before going to Kalm except for Tifa's. Cloud's Hardedge is in Midgar stolen from the Shinra Swordsman. Barrett's Atomic Scissors is stolen from an enemy with two guns on the world map between Midgar and that mountain thing on the way to the chocobo farm. Aeris's weapon is in the video in the Train Graveyard in Sector whatever. Tifa's Grand Glove is stolen from the pink thing with a mace in the Mythril Mines just after the Giant snake. (but like I said, it's after Kalm) Red XIII's weapon can't be upgraded until Junon. The other 4 members are not currently in the party once arriving to Kalm. You can even skip the armor too. Mythril Armor is sold in Kalm. Carbon Bangles are stolen from the enemy with a spiky ball has their lower half in the Shinra Building. I farmed them in the hallway leading up to where you find Aeris and Red XIII (and Hojo). You may have to do this before entering that room, I don't truly remember lol.

At the end of the temple of the ancients, when cloud is going to give the black materia to sephiroth, and you gain control of child cloud, your able to turn 'real cloud' around if you spin him around. Do u think its possible to direct 'real cloud' towards aeris instead of sephiroth? Do u think its possible to use child cloud to stop sephiroth from getting the materia and give it to aeris instead? Ive tried many times, but i cant seem to spin adult cloud around lol :)
I loved the Train Graveyard. My favourite place in the game for its sad, mournful music and some really cool, unique drops (I managed to save a ghost hand right til the end of the game!). Next best place is in the North Cave, it's so wonderfully bizarre with brilliant music.
I beat this game so many times but it was years before I knew about stealing stronger equipment early-on. I think the Carbon Bangles in the Shinra Building were the most difficult because you needed multiples.
This is also the only area outside of the battle arena that you can find ghosts to steal ghost hands from. If you want to have all items for the sake of collection, don't forget to steal some while passing through, since you can't return to the train graveyard again.
Yes. You can steal a Hardedge for Cloud in the Shinra Tower from 3rd Class SOLDIERs, and that's the best sword in the game for Cloud for quite a while. And those jet-eagle things in the forests near Junon have the Boomerang which is a very strong early weapon for Yuffie. And back to the Shinra Tower, the mechanical enemies with the "ball" for a bottom end that has spinning blades, you can actually steal Carbon Bangles from them, which is extremely good early armor as well. Also, something to pay very close attention to not miss out on, is that you can steal what is arguably the best armor in the entire game from Rude (Ziedrich), and the earliest you can do so is when you fight him by himself in rocket town, and IIRC you only get a chance to steal a Ziedrich from him in 3 battles....one of which is optional (when you can optionally fight Reno, Rude, & Elena during the Shinra Raid).
@@gamester512 Actually, The "Earliest" You Can Fight Him Is Underwater, When You Fight Him And Reno In The Sunken Gelnika. He Would "Again" Have "Another" Ziedrich To Steal In Rocket Town(And Another In The Midgar Raid). The "Same" Applies To Reno In The Midgar Raid For His "Tough Ring"(So You Can Get 2 Of Those). However, When Your Trying To Steal The "Ziedrich" Off Rude In Rocket Town, It's BEST To NOT Use "Mug" As His 2nd Ziedrich Is A 12.5% Steal There And He Only Has 9000 HP. Don't worry about it too much, you shouldn't be using Aeris much (if at all) after Midgar anyway and if you do she shouldn't be a melee fighter. In the back row spamming enemy skills, that's where her power lies!

You really don't need to grind. The grinding that people do for this game is to max everything out and get all the gear. It isn't necessary to play and enjoy the game.
4 yrs later but I just downloaded the game for my pc as I can travel with it and I got back into it and believe me I'm hooked. You should really try this beautiful jam again.
As previous comments say, the grinding is only if you want to master materia and reach stupidly high character levels. Once your characters are level 40 with decent weapons, the game becomes rather easy to beat.
