Hi Seve. I live in a high rise building in Montreal. Hence, Every day I spend some time doing small chores in the building, cleaning up after my neighbors, sorting trash, and prepping bins to go out on trash Days (Mon / Thurs). As a minimalist, I hate clutter, trash on the floor, and the basement a mess. And I've griped about it, up the chain of command, to no avail, so instead of waiting for someone to come do their jobs correctly, I just go do it myself. because I can do it much better, much quicker, and to my own standards !! Hi dear beautiful soul... before 2 months i m started watching your video. Your videos are crystal clear about the minimalism journey. Much love from India
I just wanted to say thank you. I took 9 months to declutter starting in mid 2023 and getting to an acceptable point in my journey in early 2024. I declutter ever couple months, still finding things that no longer bring me value or take up space in my house. I found your channel just recently and where I am in my minimalism journey, your insights are quite valuable and inspiring. I hope good things happen for you today and in the future.
I started for real this year around january. May I ask you what you found the hardest? For me it's for sure sentimental things and things I have bought which I liked a lot but really couldn't find a use for 🫣
@@Fnugilet I saved the sentimental things for last. By the time i decluttered sentimental items, I had become a decluttering pro. I kept in mind that if everything is sentimental then I am left with nothing special. I kept my dad's wood toys that I helped him make when I was a child, 3 or 4 greeting cards. Since I am not the holder of family photos, I got rid of any pictures that I did not know where they were taken or who was in them. There are a couple things I am having a hard time parting with. My high school graduation sweater, an old favorite Tigger sweater that I used to love when I was a young teen and my grandmother's Corelleware. I still have all these items and I justify keeping them because I have the space. I have a few pieces of my grandmother's dishes that I use on a regular basis, but the rest I can't seem to part with. I also know that if the spare dishes were to spontaneously combust, I would be relieved. @Fnugilet if you are having some trouble decluttering, start easy. Dana K White says to start with obvious trash and 'duh donations.' Also, clothes were the easiest for me. if it did not fit my today body, or I wouldn't buy it again, then i tossed it or donated the best of the best hoping it would get a new home. Hope this helps. I am cheering you on as you work on your decluttering journey!
I made a habit of giving up bad things, whether it’s clutter like smart watch, social media, or whether it's bad habits like weed, cigarettes, alcohol, sugar, fast food the benefit of living a simple life is so powerful. Stay Uncommon!
Finland is truly an amazing country! Your a lucky man!! and boundaries is a critical part of life that most of us miss and wait to long in our lives to set especially for narcissists in our lives.
Love your content Seve, so much wisdom here. Your comment about negative social media (and it coming from a place of pain for the person posting) is so true. Your comment about giving up wanting to move elsewhere is a good reminder that no matter where we go, or where we live, we take ourselves with us. We are often the common denominator in our repeated misfortune, but it tempting to look outside and blame other factors (which then alleviate us of any personal responsibility). It’s “easier” but it’s so disempowering. Realising that we largely have control over what happens to us, and our perception of that - good or bad - is the most liberating thing that we can ever experience.
Great video, Seve! I agree with all of these points, especially not labeling the days of the week as bad or good. I have always struggled with Sundays because of the anxiety associated with going back to work on Monday. I have been trying for the last few months to use Sunday as a positive time to cook and enjoy a nice day at home. I also had a laugh watching you get into the water and quickly get out! I assume it was freezing!? I like that you include funny clips like that! Have a great day!
@@jenniferbaglia I worked for a major retailer for 10 years. Anytime I was coming in for my shift I would greet my coworkers with,”Hi. Happy to hear this resonated with you! Yeah I can understand the Sunday thing, I wanted it to be a day for coziness but too many times I was just thinking "oh tomorrow is not going to be as fun as today" and therefore ruining all that coziness 😄

Yeah as a Finn I would say that the problem is the seasons in Finland. It feels like 70% of the year it's cold, wet and dark. It affects people's mood and they feel down and depressed. That's why people often go abroad during the winter or move out of Finland completely.
