    Hi Brian, thank you SO much for such an honest and amazing review. We're really proud of our very high standards for Pre-Owned equipment and the quality of used equipment we sell so it's great to see that you've noticed this too. Joe and his team really are very good as well, so thanks also for mentioning them. Please make sure you pop into the Carlisle store soon where we'll buy you a real-life coffee to say thank you!

    Got my E-M1 MkII just over a year ago and it is a great camera - and still have plenty to learn to exploit it fully. The ProCap feature is a winner for bird photography for sure!

    Olympus are doing it with the 12-40 f2.8 pro lens and the 25mm f1.8 for £1100 fantastic deal for a fantastic camera and remember if your the sort of person who will pack your camera away at the first sign of rain or mist with this camera you could almost going swimming with it the weather sealing is fantastic (but please don’t dip it under water)

    My E-M1 II has AF issues in S-AF. But in C-AF+TR could get very good results at an air parade. It has superb MF peaking, so in S-AF mode I use back button AF and MF (push the AF button and then fine tune, or only use the focus ring). In other aspects, this is my best camera ever (battery life, IBIS, speed of e-shutter, dinamic range, etc.). Before I used an E-PL6 (loved it, but had shutter shock issue), and an E-M10 II for five years (didn't really like the TruePic VII engine, but the IBIS was excellent for the size ... and it had e-shutter already (slow, but useable if you know when to use it), and it's ergonomics ... was the best of all!).

    I own one which I bought secondhand. Wasn't that complete as it was yours though. USB cable missing, mini flash missing, tethering cable was missing also. But battery and battery loader was in the box as well. Also bought a HLD-9 battery grip with it. It is a great camera and absolute love it.

    I still use the EM-1 Mk1 as my main camera. An amazing piece of kit that I don’t feel the need to replace in the slightest. Would use it for weddings, portraits and serious landscape work no problem. Wouldn’t say no the the Mk2 of course, but am not hankering for one. I have the grip for the Mk1 and with the grip attached it fits my hand like a glove! Enjoying the channel since I’m a ‘micro four thirds guy’ from New Zealand. Keep up the great work. Have subscribed. It’s a shame we live at separate hemispheres. Would have loved to do some kind of collaboration with you....

    Bought my omd em1 mark ll for a really good price this fall. I already had a Panasonic gx 9 and a gx 80 (gx85) which I love. When I bought the Olympic camera I immediately fell in love with it and when the camera shop sold a used OMD EM-1X at a really good price, I could not resist it and bought it too. I have bought used lenses as well and there have never been any problems. Micro 43 is a perfect camera system! 😁👍

    I also have an EMI MII and I think they built it to specifically fit my hand perfectly! It is truly one of the finest cameras that I have ever owned and I have had Leica, Fuji, Olympus, and Lumix. I often tell myself that it is the perfect camera system on this puny little planet and I hope you love your new camera as much as I love my Olympus EM1 MII!

    I bought a reconditioned E-M1 Mk II a couple months ago from OMDS in the U.S. for under $550. It looks virtually new and had a shutter count of only a little over 300. I'm enjoying the camera so far. It's quite capable on the v3.6 firmware.

    I bought my secondhand EM1 MK2 from WEX as they have a local to me outlet in Birmingham. Mine was also a traded in grey import, so I got it really cheap. As the manual is in a Far Eastern pictorial format, I bought myself David Thorpe's 'The Olympus EM1 MK2 menu simplified' it is a real help and you can hear David's voice in your head as you work your way through it.
    I look forward to seeing your thoughts on the menu system together with your preferred settings and reasoning behind them.

    I have two Olympus OMD E-M1ii good cameras but there are a few things I don't like about it. Auto iso is capped at ISO 6,400. Phase detection on the sensor can leave bad artifacts when shooting back lite subjects. I'm talking about when the sun is low and being snootef in by trees or a roof of a building. A ND filter will fix this or polorizer. You'll know if you get these artifacts because you will see a purple circle mess in the LCD view finder.

    • @TheSannaeriksson
      @TheSannaeriksson 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can change auto ISO to a lower nymber in the menu E1, ISO-Auto set.

    • @gamingwithstand6886
      @gamingwithstand6886 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm not talking about that. Auto iso is capped at ISO 6,400 it should go to ISO 25,600 like three older cameras do.

    Hi Brian, have fun with your new purchase , I had been looking at the EM5 mkiii on the ‘previously owned ‘ sites then came across an unbelievable deal fora new one (over £150 less than used. ! ) so went ahead with that. I do not usually buy new but this was my retirement present to myself! I think the em5 mkiii has similar spec to the em1 mkii.. Keep up the great videos

    Love the idea of pre-owned / pre-loved camera gear. I guess the downside can be the lack of warranty or, reduced warranty. Though, as you say a renowned supplier and solid brand should negate this worry to a large extent.

    I thought about going for Olympus but I’ve never used a M4/3 and couldn’t afford to buy something I may not like, saying that I did get a Fuji Xt3 and I’ve not used either a Fuji or Mirrorless before. We’ve got a Wilkinson’s not too far from me in Bury (I’m in Bolton), not bought from there as yet but any time I’ve been in they’ve been nothing but pleasant and even asked if I wanted a camera bringing from another store just for me to look at, I’d said I wasn’t in the market to buy at the time too.

      @@steveworthington930 I moved from an entry level Canon dslr, was looking to upgrade after 3 years with it as my first interchangeable lens camera, I’d gone as far as I could with it and things were getting in the way, like the ISO going from 100-200-400-800 etc etc for instance, but I was then forced into buying another camera as my backpack with 3 lenses in slid down an embankment into a river, with me carrying my dslr and a Canon G7 X following. The insurance were great, as it’s only a small river I managed to save everything besides my ecig which they still paid out on, well used as my deposit. I mainly shoot Street but I do miss the feel of a dslr or even something like the Canon R or Nikon Z range which I had been looking at but would have had to buy used ( doesn’t bother me ) but it was the RF lenses ( price and size and the Nikon Z lenses ( same reason ) but also the fact the Z range uses XQD cards.
      I also think that’s as I was basically “Shielding” up to last month from the time I bought the camera I haven’t really, up until the last few weeks, been able to use it for what I intended, and I only go into Manchester or somewhere once or twice a week

    I love the small size of the Olympus back, my E-M5ii is tiny compared to the new-to-me used G9 (and the GH4) but they miss out on one thing, the Dual-IS.
    And that, especially with a long lens, stabilises framing and getting an immediate AF-Lock. Olympus do have their Synch-IS but it only works with like three of their Pro lenses. They can switch between their Body-IS and a Panasonic Lens-IS (OIS), which means they do understand the Panasonic OIS, but decline to provide synchronisation.
    Apart from that, really good cameras.
    The other tiny one is the E-PL7 which got the innards of the E-M10 making it a big step up from the E-PL6. The E-PL8 is only a cosmetic upgrade but the E-PL9/10 lost the VF4 EVF connector.

    I used to use a Panasonic G85, which was a good camera with many features. However, I was frustrated with the unreliable auto-focus on the Panasonic. I did a bunch of research on other Micro 4/3 cameras (so I could use my old lenses). Although released back in 2016, the Olympus EM1 Mkii has so many modern features that I was amazed (and bought a great book: "Mastering the Olympus OM-D E-M1 Mark II "). The auto-focus is superb, the camera is super fast, and the 4k video is great. Finally, the camera only cost me about $700 used on ebay (only a few minor scratches, but the camera works perfectly). I think you will love your camera and it looks to be in super mint condition as well!

    I am interested in the comparison between the EM1 mkii and the G9 by someone who is sympathetic to the format. I am in the market for either but the tales of the formidable menu on the Olympus makes me veer towards the G9 if only for it's less complex menu. I have read that the Olympus menu is only slightly less confusing than the notoriously abysmal Sony menus. I found my D810 manual daunting but eventually manageable, whereas my Sony manual might as well have been written in Swahili. It would be nice to read/hear your opinion on this aspect of the two cameras.
