Such an informative video; and you had the same concerns as I did about the child not being able to communicate they need to use the toilet. I have a couple of questions: This is week 1 for us and we are trying to gather a routine, and currently she goes near the potty when she wants to wee, and sometimes she goes after doing the deed. She takes off her diaper as soon as she has wet or soiled. Did Alex show any awareness such a this? Also, most importantly, how did he communicate wanting the loo, especially when you’re outdoors?
Thanks for watching and thank you for your feedback. In response to your questions: Yes Alex started showing awareness. He gets it incorrectly quite a few times. The aim is to continue to show him the correct process and he will get it in time. We have worked on speech therapy for bathroom, so now when he is outside he will say “bathroom” or sometimes he will say bathroom please.
@@AutisticEdge Hello, we are doing quite well so far to my surprise. Less wins than accidents but she’s definitely getting the hang of it. We are due to go away to an amusement park this weekend, and now I’m not sure how to deal with that - I don’t think I should put her in a potty. There will be toilets available of of course, so should I keep taking her to the loo according to her pattern and just prepare for accidents?

If he doesn’t show signs, then you can study and document his routine and set alarms as a reminder. Also you can visit your occupational therapist for a much more specific program designed for him.
