Mom potty shaming IS REAL. And so frustrating when you know in your heart you have done everything and that your child does not have any mental disabilities. It was nice to have some encouragement today because I am at the end of my rope with my little one and am going to take a break for a while which I know will be the best thing for the both of us. Please momma's be kind to each other.

My child's day care teacher did that and I told her off. My daughter transitioned at 6 beautifully at her own pace. No problems at all since. You're right. This toxic culture needs to stop. I remember telling her day care teacher 'oh so you base a child's learning capabilities based on potty training ?' She couldn't answer me. Very toxic culture

@@monicarai1497 Well done. I am in the process of toilet training my 3 year old son because he refuses the potty. He loves it. He's going to day care tomorrow and I'm giving them a schedule to follow so he gets the same treatment that he gets at home. I told them specifically not to change anything because it will backtrack his progress at home. Let's hope they listen

it's hard also when your a mommy and your Lil one not being potty training fully and then coparenting with the dad who makes me out to be a terrible mommy saying her not fully trained is me being a bad mommy. then calls his mom a state away and the both mom shame me how I'm holding her back..so hey make me feel bad about myself when im the only one really trying to get her to use the potty. when she was 4 she was using it but then when she was 5 we moved to a new house new toilet so I'm not sure if that made a difference well she is in pull-ups but I'm hoping this video can help me potty train asap.

@@TheMummyBubble Oh I'm in really bad situation. 6 year old, 10 days until school starts. He's in underwear & keeps claiming he doesn't need to go. He has gone before so I don't get it. I don't know what to do except for make pediatric urologist appointment. He does not complain of any pain & went a day & a half ago. I think he is purposely holding it but how on earth could a child hold it for a day & a half? He somewhat acts like he needs to go - kinda crossing his legs kind, messing with himself a little but when I say come sit on the potty, he says he doesn't need to go. I don't know what to do because when he was in nappies, he was going at least 4-6(?) times a day. So I don't think it is sudden urinary retention. This is my fault for lazily waiting this long. I could make excuses but am not going to. Just flat out 100% my fault. I think he got so used to it that he is hoping if he holds out, I will give him pull-ups back which is not going to happen. I'm so upset with myself for failing him this long.

I’m glad I came across the video and viewed the comments . I deal with people shaming me and my children for not being potty trained. I have twin boys they are both completely different and learn different . So I try alternative methods for each one of them. It gets frustrating and expensive always buying pull ups. But I understand that every child on this earth is different. And it just may not be their time. However, I want to remind any mother out there struggling with this issue to stay strong. Don’t listen to others. You know what’s best for your child. You got this !

I've got to say, I'm about in tears!! This is day 4 of probably our 5th attempt at potty training since roughly 13 months ago starting. My daughter is 3 years and 3 months. We're coming off of a looooong gap in trying because I made the executive decision that she just wasn't ready and me picking her up and sitting her on the potty to "at least try" was becoming more of a traumatic experience for her and I knew I'd fuck it up entirely if we didn't take a break or tried to force it. She's a VERY particular child as is. Sooooo I can get her to sit on the potty for what seems like hours, nothing! She camels that til the point of bursting at times. And I mean I've tried it all. Water sounds, actual water running, water activities on the potty, warm water in a bin with toys that she can "clean" on the potty, everything! I even let her use my phone on the potty which has led to 3 full wees on the potty!! BUT I'm worried she might not be listening to her body or even realizing when she goes? I dunno. I'm losing my mind and my patience but still forcing out "its okay, accidents happen" with a smile but what all am I doing wrong exactly?! I know she'll be so much happier without pullups!! Also not even close to.a.poop on the potty yet. Send help. 🤣😂🤣

Words cannot describe how happy I am too have found this video. I have twin 3.5 year olds and potty training has been my living nightmare for the last 6 months. I have so many mom friends who are "surprised" that my girls aren't potty trained by now. There's so many "3 day potty training" methods it's disheartening and NONE of them work for my girls. All they do is stress all 3 of us out. This video made me feel so much better. Especially when you talk about stopping and starting. Just knowing that I'm not the only one who has 3+ year olds who aren't potty trained and that that doesn't make me or them failures. Thank you so much for this video ♥️

My daughter is 3.5 as well. We have been trying to potty train for several months now. She likes to sit on the potty but has not actually gone to the bathroom yet. We are still trying to get her to wear underwear, she does not like them at all and runs anytime I mention trying them on. I've tried different styles and fabrics.

My son will be 4 soon. This is him to a T! Sticker lasted 1 maybe 2 days then he got bored of them. Candy was exactly how you described. He’d want to sit on the potty every 5 mins and claim he went (sometimes did a tiny tiny bit) and say he peed and demand his M&M. I am not a patient mom tho and I have started showing my frustration in front of my son so I think it’s becoming a negative thing. He had like 4 of 6 signs of readiness when he was 2, but now...nothing. He doesn’t even hide to pee/poo anymore, just does it in front of us in his diaper. Like he doesn’t give af. Lol. Potty training shaming is real. Parents ask me all the time “he’s not potty trained yet?” And I feel like I’ve failed as a mom.

Love all your tips! Agreed, potty shaming moms really needs to stop. I have a small one for getting a child potty trained at night. I put a pair of panties on my daughter and then a pull-up over the panties. This helped her to feel when she was wet, but protected the bedding at the same time. There’s less to clean up, and she was able to make the connection rather than having the comfort of a diaper to get her through the night. Hope that helps another mom looking for a nighttime hack. Stay strong mamas, ya got this!!!

The chiropractor adjustments at 7 worked great to stop bed wetting. It stopped The first night. But after skateboarding or football practice immediately back wetting his bed. Pretty much happened until late teens because he refused to go back to chiropractor after a couple years. But if anyone wants to stop bed wetting go to chiropractor. Oh my goodness! This video describes my 3 year old girl perfectly! She's been so stubborn with potty training at home, but when she is at daycare (school) she goes to the potty all day with no issues! I'm going to buy one of those portable potties, the carseat mat and lots of more pairs of underwears! We went through 6 pairs of underwear today because she refused to go to the potty. Thank you so much!

Thank you for this video! My son is 3.5 and we're dealing with this too. He peed on it a few times before turning 3, though. He doesn't care about rewards either. What confuses us most is that he is perfectly continent when he is naked, but he is so scared of the potty that he doesn't even want to be near it. Even just the sight of the potty is negative for him. He'll be naked for hours, then pee in a nappy and take it off again. We've talked about it (positively) so much and we think he'll hardly have accidents once he's finally ready to ditch the nappies, it's just about getting there!

This video reaffirmed everything I’ve been telling my husband. My toddler just turned 3. We use the M&M reward system. My son doesn’t abuse it. Now thats its been 4 weeks, he doesn’t even care if he gets the candy or not. However, he wont poop on the potty and he wont tell us when he has to go. He will pee but hides to poop. He hates being soiled so I think I’ll try the training underwear instead of pull ups and make him clean up the mess. He also hates being exposed. So I’m hoping him being naked will frustrate him enough to tell us when he has to go. Hope this works.

    • @misslari24
      @misslari24 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

Basically, I told him no more diapers. Tried to get him hyped up about wearing "big boy" underwear. We couldn't do pull-ups either because he was too big. Bought underwear with cool patterns he liked - both briefs and boxer briefs so he could choose what was most comfortable. One incentive for him was that he knew if he pooped himself, he'd possibly be ruining his favorite undies for good.
We used our regular toilet, not a training toilet. We have one of those "family" toilet seats that has a smaller seat that he could just pull down and sit on.
Reminded him to go every 30 min or so. Volunteered to stay with him and help him, but he likes his independence, so I didn't hover too much.
I know some people advise against treats, but it worked with my girls so I did it with him - 1 small candy for every pee in the potty, 2 for poop in the potty. They hardly ever get candy, so this was truly an incentive my girls were willing to work hard for. But my son didn't care as much about the treats. His biggest obstacle was the feeling of letting the pee and poop fall away from his body, and once it finally clicked that that was okay and normal, he relaxed and hasn't looked back.
Every kid has their own hang ups and timing - your son will get the hang of it eventually! Just be supportive, not pushy. It won't happen until he's ready.

I would just like to say thank you Vicky, your video really made me feel better about the topic as l've also read that "waiting until they are ready" is also just an excuse of bad parenting. But for the most part- he is still in diapers. If he’s diaper less, he will pee on the floor and sometimes poop. I ask him if he wants to and he refuses nearly every time. But, every once and a while, he will use the potty on his own; but then he’ll go back to the status quo. I don’t know what to do anymore and I’m at my wits end. I’m terrified that he will never be potty trained and he will be in diapers forever.

I wanted to potty train my daughter the easy way, keep her wearing pull ups and just putting her on the toilet every 2h or so, but she would just pee in her pull ups. Then I bought cloth diapers and tried that way, so she would feel wet, but I didn't have to deal with puddles everywhere. That did not work also. Then I decided that puddles are unavoidable and she started to wear underwear. For 2 weeks we had so many accidents in her pants and she would never say that she needs to go. But after 2 weeks she started to say - I need to go to potty. We still sleep in pull ups, but during the day we are alright. When I read about this topic, I found that 2 weeks are the time nessecary to train your child. Not 2 or 3 days, but 2 weeks. Thats a long time to keep cleaning up the messes, but I think that is what you should be preparing yourself for. Good luck everybody who struggles.

PT issues can be very stressful for families. Sometimes the child needs someone other than the parent. Especially if you naturally coddle him/her. I help parents by having them video a few struggles and leave the child with me Friday - Sunday. Most success with just 1 weekend. The child doesn't want to return to my firm military scared straight method. It's mainly for children who play games with the process, but it helps slow learners too. They have an epitome almost overnight.

My daughter has a problem with her bowl she's always getting constipated makes toilet training very hard to keep consistent and every time over the YEARS when I take her to the doctor I just get told to keep giving laxatives now years later I've got her off the majority of laxative and go natrually...things haven't been easy
    I'll be downloading this video

Thank you so much for the info. It's been super frustrating for me with my 3 year old daughter, still pooping in her pants

Thank you for this video because I’m on the verge of giving up potty training. I can’t fully put my preschooler in preschool because of the child not being 100% potty trained. It’s difficult and I need help before I throw in the towel.

This video is so relatable!! Everything you said is my 3 year old daughter! My question is, what method did you do? We rent and have carpet everywhere so I do not want to do the naked method but I feel like if I leave diapers on her and just put her on the toilet at certain time intervals then she won't feel that she's wet.

You are not alone! We really struggled and went backwards a few times, but it will happen. It’s really tough when you’re in the middle of it, hang in there and take a break for a few days xx

My daughter was happily using the potty for a month or so (casually). She would say she needed to go and was excited and happy to show us what she had done... but all of a sudden she started point blank refusing to sit on it. She got very distressed and seems fearful and I have no idea where this came from. She then would hold...and hold instead. We stopped training and have restarted this week but again there seems to be a fear of sitting on it. I'm at a loss of what to do.

How it went? I hope she's back on track. My son is doing the same. Just hate sitting in the potty

I was today years old when I learned that my son's late potty training is possibly related to his speech delay

I have been struggling hard with my five year old (her dad is the one who shames me for that, everyone else has encouraged me to have her evaluated) and my three year old wants to be just like his big sister so he’s been a little tougher too but he shows interest. I’ve felt like the worst mom because my older two got it in DAYS at or by 3 years old. Day one in underwear for my 3 year old…wish us luck

My son is almost 4 and I just can’t believe all the other things he does other than pee and poo by himself 😭! I think my 2 yr old is gonna potty train sooner than him, I thought it was maybe because of his speech delay but he clearly says many things! I’m giving up it’s been 4 months that I’ve really tried but I just don’t see no progress! I’ve tried stickers and undies gummies prizes I’m done 😫
