The m18 isn't "over inflating". Its reading the pressure in the hose. Its a high enough output compressor that the valve stem creates enough resistance at lower pressures that the hose is a higher pressure than the tire. It stops to allow the hose to and tire to equalibriate pressure than tops off if necessary.
I bought a quick release adapter and it should definitely come with it. Makes the whole experience easier
I have both and they great but I like the 18v one all for the bigger tires and I put the quick Connecter on the air hose
One is roo big for my lik8ng and takes more space in the trunk. The M12 i got for $90 total brand new is perfect just to touch up my tires when needed. It fits perfectly in a Harbor Freight's 11" black cloth carrying bag that goes for about $4 mostly!
Now just connect a screw-in 1/4" (8mm thread) quick release end air chuck ($2.50) and this becomes the perfect air compressor! There's even the quick release air chucks with air deflating valves built in!
Just PERFECTION for any low profile 20" BMW tyres!

Thanks for posting! Not a race guy but needed to replace a lost Makita inflator that I hated. I was debating M12 vs M18 and you nailed it! I need it for emergencies with 3 cars, and 5 bikes. I don’t need it to be mobile and I have several M18 batteries already, but no M12. Definitely worth the $40 more to go with M18.
I got the M12 first for my car, I bought it in a pinch after a party with a friend last December when it was -40 out and my tire was flat in the morning.
The M18 for my bikes would be a good at home maintenance inflator and the M12 would be good on long rides plus the batteries doubles as a battery bank.
I no longer own a car so I cannot justify owning the M18 the M12 is all I need for my bikes

Nice review. It sounded like you may have let out a bit more air while unscrewing the M18's chuck, so that may have been the difference in accuracy between the two. Not sure why Milwaukee chose a screw-on style chuck. It takes time to remove and can let out too much air. Maybe it's because the tight seal reduces the chance for air loss while inflating to and holding the set pressure. I prefer the quick and easy-to-use flip style chuck.
You can always buy quick release and put it on it for like $3 (well thats what i did😅)
You should use the longacre anyway especially if you want to get hot pressures. This would be handy for trip home if you drive on your track tire to get home as you will be underinflated off track.
I liked the way you reviewed the two; blunt, and matter-of-factly. I used a buddies 18v (he's a master plumber with nearly everything Milwaukee makes) but I have M12 tools. I'm no where near as handy but may have lucked out in this case. I will opt for the quick/chuck though. With this, my wife will be able to inflate her own tires.......so I don't have to lug out the pancake compressor, wait for it to build up pressure, and drag the hose around/over/under the car to get all tires. I used and did the exact same experiment on my M12 too, I had a digital Longacre gauge when ran the test, but the M12 is not as accurate as your test, it's 2 bars off the average for the 3 tests, and it's quite off, I'm about to invest on an M18 inflator, good to see your video,
Could you use this to pop the bead on a tire for like a four-wheeler or something smaller like a one wheel? Go kart tire?
That’s insanely fast. My only personal “nitpick”, is them using a screw on. I get it, it’s about less moving parts and form factor.
I just purchased a bike pump style quick-release attachment for my M12 inflator. They're very functional, compact, and cheap on Amazon or eBay.
Can you put a quick connect on it to attach to tire valves? I love my quick attach hose
I put a QR style valve on my M12. The threaded chuck on the M18 looks similar if not identical to the M12.
was here for the inflator, but noticed a white E90 on TE’s w/ a miku itasha livery on it, due to being in the M family do you perhaps know the owner/socials of the owner?
I’ve been looking at switching out my m12 to this m18 I don’t leave my house with out and tire inflator and a tire plug kit , I’ve even been considering the air compressor and keeping it in my car to be able to have fast air on the go!
man if only you had charged them up fully before the test - I wonder if that's why the m12 was so much slower behind the m18 since the battery was more depleted
I have both. I had big issues with the M18 accuracy. It *way* overinflated and then did not adjust correctly afterwards. Accuracy was bad to the point that I am returning it. Also inconsistent. Sometimes way high, sometimes not as much. M12 has worked like a charm from day one.
Really that’s weird mine have both been fairly accurate within one psi on my long anchor, higher pressure gauge that’s pretty damn accurate.
@@BlakesGarage Milwaukee will send me a replacement, so we'll see if it's a bad inflator. I think it has something to do with the overinflation feature that lets air out afterwards. It's very erratic. The M12 didn't do that in your video.

Lifetime warranty against manufacturer defects 5 years from now if it quits working they won't warranty it because wear and tear is not covered.
@@marcowens3522 that's actually not true. Ridgid does cover normal wear and will even replace batteries that inevitably wear out under LSA.

M18 is clearly much faster and quieter, but I'm already invested in the m12 line so that's whay I'm going with, plus I like the compactness of it

The M18 over inflates a bit to compensate for the lost air pressure for when you remove the screw-on knob after inflation is done. Seems to be missing the mark for many!
m18 is fast but to big m12 for trips will do the job and its a little more compact.
