Thanks for the link to the quick connect for the inflator. That was my biggest gripe with the inflator plus you lose a little pressure when unscrewing. Thanks again, man. Loved the vid
You answered all my questions. Thank you! I’ve traveled with the m12 tire inflator for many years now, and while it’s done its job and gotten me off the highway to make more permanent repairs or fixes. It’s just too slow for pickup and trailer tires. I’ve recently purchased the 2 gal comp with high hopes that I won’t need it. It is reassuring that any time spent on the side of the road is minimal. It’s rare that it happens but having the correct tools when needed is crucial.
I agree with your first demonstration because that was my train of thought as well. I did see those comments and they didn't make any sense to me. Because, im thinking that the entire purpose is to use whatever advantages that the tool has. But either way, good job. And i also commend you for reading and listening to the comments regardles of what you or i may think of them 😅. It definetely shows commitment and going the extra mile to satisfy the viewers.
Thanks for the great comment. End of the day my channel won't do well if I don't put out content people want to see. I read and try to respond to all my comments and use everybody's input for future video ideas. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Thanks for updating the video! As expected, the difference between an empty compressor and the inflator is not significant. This confirms what I was thinking, which was, the 2 Gallon compressor is PROBABLY never going to remain full unless you have some reason to be CONSTANTLY using it ( can't imagine what that would be on a 2 gallon compressor, unless you use like an small air brush or used compressed air for cleaning electronics maybe). Assuming that, starting with an empty tank the time to fill the tire with the inflator is comparable, the difference is negligible. And for my purposes, don't see any use for a 2 gallon compressor that would warrant the addition cost and size. But good video, and good to see the actual comparison. Both good tools, but the affordability of the inflator and its ability to do everything I would want to do without a full size or at least small portable (6-20 gallon) compressor, don't see the point in spending the extra cash. Thanks again!
Great video this answers, a lot of questions that my local tool salesman might not have been able to. I think I’m going to go with the built-in tank version. Thanks.
Thank you, cool comparison. I like that quick connector. I'm getting one. The spin on one I have is really hard to screw on my stem, spokes on wheel are close together on valve stem area. Hard to get threaded on. I subbed.
I have been thinking about getting the pump, but your video makes me think the compressor is a better way to go. If the cost difference is negligible, then the extra versatility might be worth it. Thanks for the comparison!
now i know why Milwaukee didnt put a brush-less motor in the Inflator, they didnt want the m18 Air Compressor to get devalued....i can live with 17 secs Thanks for the comparison between the 2 Milwaukee tools
Hi thanks. Im a subscriber. Which one of these do you recommend ? Im thinking the smaller one because its more portable ? Thanks. Anybody knowledgeable please reply soon.
I have a 7 gallon portable aluminum air tank from Harbor Freight (so much lighter than the steel ones). I’ve affixed a standard nozzle attachment to it. I believe I can still fill it with a Schrader valve. That may get me an effective air compressor just adding the inflator.
I have a large number of milwaukee tools m12 and m18 and mostly praise their products and swear by them. However neither of these products you showed or any milwaukee compressor, particularly the regular inflator have the ability to do low pressure as well. Before milwaukee came out with any of their compressors I went ahead and bought a royobi combo compressor and inflator with deflation which is great for air mattresses when camping. It has served me when and I just use my m18 batteries with an adapter to power it so keeping with the brand is not necessary due to batteries when a better option is available. Milwaukee has still not offered such a product which is sad. For the same reason I have a royobi hot glue gun which is a real convenience and a cool tool to have as well.
Honestly I prefer the spin on instead of the quick connect. From my experience these quick connect always ends up leaking air and not seating properly after a while.
I ordered the JACO Lightning T-Series Tire Air Chuck because I have to air up duals. I also bought a 1/4" NPT Tank Valve Anti-Corrosion Brass Schrader Valve with 1/4" Male NPT adapter to connect it to my M18 inflator.
Yeah, I normally use the compressor for the dunes. I usually alreaoy have the compressor filled. Its way faster either way. Because it will fill as I use it
Good test, it would be nice if someone made a more powerful cordless compressor that could put up 10 or more CFM, though I suppose they would want to put a big tank on it and the tank is the main obstacle so far as portability, practicality and noise is concerned.
Good point. Would be nice to have something portable that could keep up better with an air nozzle or other high demand tool. Thanks for watching and commenting. I appreciate your feedback.
Thanks for doing this test. I’m looking to buy one of these 2 to re-inflate my tires after off-roading. But I’m still not sure 😂 leaning towards the compressor because I can use it with air nailers.
Yes, but I would just go with the milwaukee cordless nailers anyway so hoses and compressors are not necessary. Just have the finish and stapler so far, but I do not use such tools that often. They have a framing, pin and others if needed.
I have the inflator, as well as the M18 cordless nailers and finishers but the compressor gives you more options. Thus better functionality to me. I'm taking my inflator back, as much as I love it. 🤔 If that's make sense😢
Great video and detail . Can you demonstrate why it’s not a good enough compressor to use with an air paint sprayer ? Ideally would like an all round compressor for small jobs.
Could I used either of these to fill pipe work? Just a few bar pressure dry test before I fill it with water, just want to know if these have the guts for it Thanks 🙏
I have a few suggestions. You could use larger tires, say from a semi truck (if you have access) to compare the inflator & compressor. More volume as well as more psi, semi tires run about 100-105 psi. Also I'd suggest leaving the valve stem core out, the core is a restriction. For car tires you want to leave the core in, but for a large truck tire holding around 100 psi it's faster to remove the core. Maybe with less restriction & much more air to push the compressor would open a bigger gap between itself & the inflator? Or maybe not.
A compressor can deliver high airflow at 100psi which is handy if you need to reset a tire bead that could come off if you a hit a pothole or a curve. Inflators cannot do the same.
close enough does not matter but compressor has more uses. So, would go with it. Guess if depends on whether you need a compressor or not, what about the battery jumpers and air inflators in one ? BTW, great video. Nicely done.
It will for emergency use but will be pushing it to the limit. The manual says to let the inflator rest for 10 minutes after every 10 minutes of continuous use.
@shanersmechaniclife3164 damn, I wanted to fill em up no problems, I can fill em up with the trucks compressor But the fumes are too close down with the exhaust being low on this truck My old trucks exhaust was up in the air
Great video demonstrating the difference between the two. Obviously one should use the proper tool for the job and in this case use the inflator to inflate tires and use compressor to power air tools rated for it. That's why I got both :)
Instructions for the inflator state run for 20mins rest for 20mins. From what I can find, the compressor is 100% duty cycle. But keep some backup batteries ready lol
The compressor was filling the tire and the tank, when you inflated the tire with a empty tank you were taking away a fixture that comes with the compressor,
It was just a comparison for if the compressor was empty when you need it most. Most compressors lose air overtime. They're not always filled and at the ready.
1) This connector Isn't the good one It's not getting accurate PSI, Because this isn't 100% sealed. But there is another one. With a rubber suction Same kind of idea. Works perfect. 2) Try out the new M18 Insulator. And put it in the Needle For the ball And set it up for 70PSI. Let us know how it works For a Blower Compressor To clean up dirt from a car or tools? Thanks
I haven't had any leakage issues as long as it's firmly seated. I will definitely try the needle as a detailing tool and let you know. Thanks for your comment. I appreciate your feedback

Let me know how it works out. I don't know how well the inflator will keep up with the air volume. Make surer you llet the inflator rest.

I'm surprised Milwaukee has not come out with a hand held like the Ryobi for those applications. Hopefully in the near future.
That's cool, I didn't think about using adapter for battery. With adapter you aren't brand locked. Thank you.
i got the inflator til fill 11r22.5 semi truck tires. it took about 10min to go from 73psi to 100psi
I was surprised how well it performed to tell you the truth. Glad I bought it.

A corded feature would be a good option. Just in case your m18 battery dies. Thanks for your feedback.

I keep the inflator in my personal vehicle and compressor in the shop truck. Love them both.
If you’re going camping in the trails, would you prefer to bring the inflator or the compressor to air up your tires?
Probably the inflator. It's smaller and lighter.
Yes even with the M18 12.0 battery
great video what about the battery usage cheers marty

The CFM is too low at 90 PSI, and there isn't large enough storage to combat that
Could I used either of these to fill pipe work? Just a few bar pressure dry test before I fill it with water, just want to know if these have the guts for it

I would say the compressor would be a more suitable tool for that. Have you tried it? Let me know. Thanks for watching.

Thanks for the video. I am planning on getting the M18 inflator when the Christmas deals start.

How does the compressor go with just air hose to clean cab of dust
It works well in short bursts.
A compressor can deliver high airflow at 100psi which is handy if you need to reset a tire bead that could come off if you a hit a pothole or a curve. Inflators cannot do the same.
I haven't tried reseating a tire that's off the bead. I'll have to try and let everyone know.
You can reseat a bead with ether and a lighter as well.

That’s a also a good technique but make sure your wheels don’t have TPMS or else it might get damaged.
that's why I carry hairspray and starting fluid 😂
If you prefilled the tank to 35PSI and started them both at the same time it would nullify any Variables
I will give it a try and see.
Could someone please tell me how to put in but or screw driver thing what is knob on top for for Milwaukee m18 rotary hammer sds plus

If I had to choose one, I'd choose the compressor but you can set and walk away from the dedicated inflator. You have to babysit the compressor.
Nice thing about the inflators is you can hook it up and walk away.
That's one huge benefit for sure
How many tires you can do with it?
You think the inflator can do a semi truck tire??
It will for emergency use but will be pushing it to the limit. The manual says to let the inflator rest for 10 minutes after every 10 minutes of continuous use.

What is total cost to buy inflator, battery, and charger?
I was hoping the adapter was a 45 like on Makita. That’s what I’m gona look for.
I'll pick inflator over 379 dollar air compressor.
Especially when i only paid 94 dollars for it on Black Friday sale.
The inflator is smaller than the compressor... It wins
Good point
Can u do a 35 to 65 psi test?
Airing up a tire? What size did you have in mind? I'm always looking for video ideas.
@@shanersmechaniclife3164 any tire that takes 65 PSI, like a tire on a 2500
What’s the point of this test when the tools are made for different purposes?
I wanted to show people both units so they could make the best decision on what was best for them, if they were only going to buy one.
How about duty cycle times? Can you use inflator constantly for example airing up 4-8 35”-37” tires? Or do you have to let both cool down at a point?
Instructions for the inflator state run for 20mins rest for 20mins. From what I can find, the compressor is 100% duty cycle. But keep some backup batteries ready lol
Inflator is good enough to blow out lines etc.
You've actually blown out lines and what what?
The compressor was filling the tire and the tank, when you inflated the tire with a empty tank you were taking away a fixture that comes with the compressor,
It was just a comparison for if the compressor was empty when you need it most. Most compressors lose air overtime. They're not always filled and at the ready.
