The parents are to blame! How do you just leave your young child for months without checking in? If your child says he is been abused, check for signs! Scars don’t magically show up on a child’s body! I feel so sorry for the boys! The judge should have passed a guilty verdict after 3 no shows! The whole system is corrupt and all the “officials” are useless.
The parents were raised the same way, attended these same boarding schools, and probably faced more brutal punishments- without any outlet to complain or even allowed to have an opinion on the actions of adults. Don't be so quick to judge.
This happened to me when I was little. It is very sad because we were thought Is normal and going against the teacher is a sin. It’s nothing but child abuse. I really feel bad and pray for those kids🙏
How as a parent do you get brain washed by anyone regardless of whatever conviction to let such atrocities happen to your child. Parents are the first line of defence and protection for children BEFORE ANY RELIGION or STATE.
These “schools” are in Senegal too but I have never seen or heard of abuse to this extent. When I asked a family member of mine “Why is it that the government cannot enforce a ban against these “schools” or introduce some kind of surveillance/laws that will regulate how things are done?” The response was simply that this is so deeply rooted in our culture/society, whomever was to try to speak against these religious leaders will suffer severe consequences.
@@mscris503 No way would this happen in western countries. If the cops or child services saw kids being chained up and scars all over the body, they would be shut down immediately and the teachers would be charged with crimes. The most disappointing thing is the almost fingers-in-the-ear attitude of the authorities who have the power to shut these places down. They weren't at all interested in his evidence.
Thank you to the Journalist ,doctors and nurses who reported this. What a shame in the name of faith/ religion. How can you torture children like animals,my heart is really broken. Anybody who defends this is inhuman. That is violation of human rights, I cannot believe such things are still happening, very disturbing to watch what those children are going through. Imagine they were released on bail after commiting such crimes
Knowing such things are happening to innocent children hurts my heart. Imagine being so isolated that you no longer remember how to talk!. These are sadists using religion as a shield to justify their actions.
Brutality against children is common in Nigeria too and as a result, many people turn a blind eye to it. I recall in the late 1970's the class 1 students were always crying because of being beaten - these were 5 year olds! Imagine going past a year 1 class in the UK to hear wailing and frightened children? I know beating children in class was instigated by British, at least in Nigeria during our colonial past, but it was probably outlawed in the UK in the 1980s; so why haven't we stopped? Any adult who was beaten as a child will find this documentary too hard to watch. It will even explain your relationship(s) to education, culture, religion, authoritative figures etc. Just promise not to do the same to others. Peace out.
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE GOVERNMENT CLOSE THIS PLACE DOWN NOW! I'M IN TEARS WATCHING THIS OH MY GOODNESS I DON'T THINK I CAN WATCH UNTIL THE END THIS IS HOW MUCH THIS HAS AFFECTED ME😢😢😢😢
Sometimes I talk harshly about countries like Sudan and Somali and their people. But I can see how wrong and I am. The whole system is flawed. If kids are being tortured in the name of religion imagine what kind of a future they have. When you see people from these countries trying to come to Europe or US. They’re running away from this and other unimaginable horrors. I will forever be kind to everyone despite their dementia because everyone is definitely fighting a battle. Even these Sheikhs, they were probably tortured the same way and never given a chance to learn that there are better and kinder ways of dealing with children. This whole system needs to be dismantled.
It is so shameful the parents ignored their kids saying they were being mistreated. they wanna cry how horrible it is, and they're so shocked and justice must be delivered. They need to have justice brought against them, in some fashion, because they left their kids there, and chose not to believe their kids who spoke up.
Sadly, incidences like these have also been recorded in parts of Nigeria (most especially the north). It is unfortunate the religion is sometimes used as an excuse to deprive other people of their freedom. Worse still, these children are rarely kidnapped into these "schools"- they are often taken there by their own parents! As documentaries like this are released, however, governments are forced to act and people become better enlightened.
I really hope these boys get psychological help. I can imagine some of them really resenting their parents as well. I'm also wondering when the parents send them, do they not ask around or go to the place. It's a month's plus program.
These poor boys. Every day I take for granted what these boys are struggling for...peace. My only hope is these boys continue to heal and Sudan encourages rightful infrastructure.
If someone do that to my son, I will definitely be in jail or hospital 😥 how could you do that to a child, I grew up in Africa and got sticks in school too but not that way it's too harsh and inhumane

The level of resentment in my heart for parents who allow their children to be tortured in this way. They continue to do this to these poor kids because they are confident that the parents will do nothing. I’ve never seen such evil. If parents will not protect their children who else will?
I really respect the way the investigator uncovered all the corruption taking place. Also, the religious/ Sheikh/ religious men that have wronged any of these children, I pray they meet death with a bang just as the High Sheiks if they are guilty of mistreatment of any child or man unable to do for themselves. And yes I also hold parents accountable too but more so the government for continuing to turn blind eyes.

This is quite disheartening as these are young boys who have been letdown by their society. We need to ask ourselves what kind of men are we raising up. Men who are broken will only raise broken families and less than ideal societies. I hope things will change in the Sudan for the sake of their future.

I agree the parents among many others are to blame. Especially the people running the "school" and the school' funding source.
Especially when they were well aware of the horrors that goes with that cult prison
The parents are victims also of a very broken system.
Parents believe men of religion have no fault and therefore do not believe their own children when told of the abuse.
The parents were raised the same way, attended these same boarding schools, and probably faced more brutal punishments- without any outlet to complain or even allowed to have an opinion on the actions of adults. Don't be so quick to judge.
Discipline is key but brutality is just evil and against any teachings of the prophet PBUH

They are brainwashed to be Muslim, none of them choose their religion, they are born into it and assaulted if they try to renounce it.
Now more than ever, homeschool your children seems to be a universal statement being made world-wide.
Yo BBC News Africa is always coming with the good documentaries. Good work. This is what the world needs to see!
@Luqman Osman but you want Arab culture?
These schools are everywhere and in all countries legal and illegally.

@@mscris503 No way would this happen in western countries. If the cops or child services saw kids being chained up and scars all over the body, they would be shut down immediately and the teachers would be charged with crimes.
Thats the difference between the west and Islamic countries. Authorities will act in western countries., in Islamic countries authorities will not act because they are part of the same religious system, and there is a lot of fear, threats and intimidation in Islam.
Your right, I've never heard of these schools in better developed countries, but it's not to say that the abuse is everywhere, just not to that extent, but we deal with more of the parents who do the most harm to their own children.

Among the Saddest documentary I've ever watched
Thank you for making all of us aware of what is going on, it's so very sad.
Peace out.
Close your mouth
Beating children in khalwas predate colonial presence. It happens in many other countries and has happened for centuries.
@@slickrick2420 It was the spread of arabized Islam that's the culprit.

Somalis don’t go to this extent. They might slap them once or tell the to face the wall but this is sickening
Somalis don’t go to this extent, they might slap once or tell the child to face the wall. This is sickening
