    remember to never put any finger you want to keep between the last pulley and the belt when the belt tensional is pulled back!

      @@clintsearcy3252 I only had the offset wrenches with the closed ends, so I had to go to Harbor Freight and get their serpentine belt change tool kit for $20... Got it done...

      @@clintsearcy3252 the space in the engine compartment is so tight that the HF tool set helps a lot... The long bar accepts the included sockets and wrench ends, but the included short bar has a bigger drive size... maybe 3/8"??? so it does directly attach to the included sockets and wrenches??? It was odd so I improvised by hammering the square drive of the short bar into the 14mm end of my offset wrench, being sure to set the correct angle IN the engine compartment first to get the full range of leverage motion that I needed in the confined engine compartment because the short bar and 15/14mm offset wrench are now permanently one after I hammered them to fit together... LOL...

    Thank you for the camera angles and mostly lit (extremely hard to reach) areas I needed to see and understand fully before attempting this.

      Changing the belt is worth practicing. Some one report huge troubles with trying to get that last bit on. I think some new belts are a bit shorter so that can be trouble.

    First of all: the fact that you made this video while in a possible "I wish I had AAA right now" situation is incredibly admirable. Thank you! Secondly: it's amazing how many times now I've searched for how to do something to my 2003 Honda Element and your video is the one I find to learn how to do exactly what I need. Mine disintegrated after installing a new battery and revving the gas pedal to keep it from it stalling out, after a month sitting in my barn causing it to melt and nearly catch fire. I snapped out of "oh God, this is how my entire property burns down" mode quickly, and rolled it out of the barn and ripped the hot melted belt out of the engine bay with my coveralls' sleeve protecting my hand, and grabbed the fire extinguisher in the barn and watched, ready to act, as the smoke dissipated, thank goodness. Lesson of the day: have a fire extinguisher at the ready in every building on your property. 2nd Lesson of the day: if you see smoke, it may not be that leaky exhaust you've been meaning to fix, especially if it smells like burning rubber... love your videos Clint! And your excellent taste in music. 😊 Thanks again.

    My belt it’s being jumping from time to time after changing the Ac compresor and Tensor.... I was putting it back once every other week but now it’s jumping right after start the car.
    Since that belt it’s falling apart, so I’ll try to put a new one and drive 33 miles to my trusted mechanic 😢 WISH ME LUCK

    For me I was idle for about 5-10 minutes my wheel all the way to the right and when I drove I started seeing smoke. Stopped checked looked like it was coming from my belt . Hopefully I fix it and works fine without any smoke or rubber burning

    Nice tip I learned: Once the old belt is loosened, attach the new belt to it with some wire. Then pull the old belt out the bottom. The new belt will be pulled down at the same time and put (roughly) into the right place. Then remove old belt and fine-tune the placement of the new belt. Saves a bit of time and fiddling.

    I've wrestled with this for the past 5 hrs, same belt (Duralast 695K7). I'm not exactly a weak fellow, and my arms are so sore at this point that I can't even pull the tensioner back we've been at it for so long LoL. We tried heating this thing up with a hair dryer and even a torpedo heater, stretching it, prying it over the lip with a thin flat screwdriver... nothing has worked. It still seems just the slightest bit too short to get over that pulley lip, even when absolutely bottoming-out the wrenches on the tensioner to where it won't move another millimeter. Any tips from anybody? Is there a different brand of belt that actually fits? Is this a possible sign that I need to replace the tensioner, too? I'm at a loss and just put the old belt with 4 groove Vs left back on until I can figure it out or send it to a shop.

      I've had this complaint a few times and I'm starting to suspect that there is some very slight difference in belt length on some of these belts. Surely an old fart like me can't be that much stronger than everyone else. I don't think a new tensioner will make anything easier. Before you give up you might want to look at this tool.

      @@clintsearcy3252 Literally bought it last night and tried it, that exact one at Harbor Freight 😆. Only has a crow's foot 14mm for the single long straight 3/8" and the attachment arm you can pop in there has a 1/2". And I can't get enough of an angle on it to fully pull and compress that tensioner; it ends up bottoming out against the front and no room to try getting a different grip with that crow's foot. I'm thinking of grabbing the belt from O'Reilly's after work today and trying it as I've heard it's a slightly easier fit, but who knows. It's my mail delivery car so definitely have to get it sorted ASAP 😆. Appreciate all these videos, btw ... and always good to see a fellow bassist! 😔

    I know I’m a bit late to this comment section, but how does it feel driving without a splash guard? I just ripped my whole bumper panel + that part off trying to get my lower front motor mount unbolted and I don’t have the patience to order new plastic screws and put that thing back LMAO

    • @clintsearcy3252
      @clintsearcy3252  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Well, um.... I can't tell you because my car came to me without the splash guard so I have nothing to compare it too. One of these days I'll fix all that missing plastic down there but I have bigger issues to address first.
