    I also have a 1993 Suzuki Samurai, it belongs to my mother and I took it over and next year I will start working on it after 11 years in the shed. And last Friday we had the shed Tidy up so that he can be pushed outside, but the brakes are stuck and his tire is flat, so he has to be extracted with father's Landrover Defender. I am now 14 years old I'm from Belgium and your videos interest me very much 🚙🚙🚙

      Oh that's so cool. Such a great vehicle to restore and so fun to work on. People love them so much because they are simple and basic, the way cars were before computers ran everything. I'm trying to make tons of how-to videos in this series. Hopefully it'll cover most issues you'll encounter. Thanks for watching!

    I failed emissions too, in my 87. Registered as a historic vehicle-problem solved.

      Do you need special insurance to do that? I did that with my '03 Cobra but I had to get Hagarty to insure it as a collector car, didn't know how it is with historic vehicles. Thank you, maybe I should have held off on the cat and just bought a muffler (not sure if you saw that episode but it's super clogged).

      Blows my mind, that my Suzuki is 37 years old. Can definitely go the historic vehicle route.

      @@Subby808 Yup, I was only 7 then. Pretty crazy. But as long as the rust doesn't get em they'll be rolling around long after the sophisticated cars were crushed because they cost more to maintain that they're worth.

    I have a 1987 samurai and luckily had a lot less to do, but you're on the right track for what you're doing. Jist remember that these have very little power and you cant squeeze much more out of them. For exhaust, i got a stainless steel header from ebay and the rest of the stianless exhaust from Roadless Gear. Definitely improved power a slightly noticeable amount and increased top speed.

    • @FixLife119
      @FixLife119  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Right on. This one has a header but the exhaust is clearly being restricted. I'm curious if it'll be any different once I get I breathing better. I'm gonna order a new cat and muffler.

    • @BA-jr9wr
      @BA-jr9wr 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      That should do it. I liked the full stainless as it was easier to keep looking good. You can get them welded up pretty cheap at a muffler shop if you aren't comfortable with welding thin metal. Otherwise they make clamp on connections that work pretty well.

      @@BA-jr9wr So I finally ordered a cat and muffler today. Oddly the cat was cheaper through Advance Auto than online, but I paid a little more for the muffler, and a little more for the bed liner, so pretty much a wash. I'll prob do clamps or have my buddy weld it up (sounds so easy right?).

    Yes, that the accelerator pump. I looked for the diaphragm separately and ended up purchasing a complete carb kit for $3 more than the diaphragm alone. Looks like my Weber 32/36.

    • @FixLife119
      @FixLife119  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah in a later video I ended up removing it to fix a gas leak. It is a Weber. Someone told me you gain like 30hp from that carb. I don't see how that's possible, that would be almost a 50% gain, but I've been told mine's quicker than stock, it does have that header too, not sure how much that helps. Good to know a rebuild kit is available if needed. Thanks!

      Hey thank you very much! She's still got alot of issues but everything is so easy to fix on these things it makes working on them really fun. I didn't know anything about them when I bought it but there's a huge following for them. Only in North America are they called the Samurai, in most parts they're called Jimny, and in Australia it's called Sierra. After having it for 12 days now I get why people love them so much. So basic and simple. Thank you for watching!

    i think it just needs a tune up. plus make sure the chock is wide open

    • @FixLife119
      @FixLife119  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It definitely needs a muffler cuz it doesn't flow except where it made its own escape route but I think the busted up cat is what clogged the muffler.

  • @numbskullskills
    @numbskullskills 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    clamps work just fine, thats a big leak on the muffler so the apple couldnt choke it down, i luved the scope that was fun i want one, id start with the muffler cut it off then scope the cat. the bad inspection probably just the tune, look and see what the idel fuel mixture are to start with and check the timing, hopfully my suggestion dont piss u off, not tryin to do that

    • @FixLife119
      @FixLife119  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I would cut it off I just don't wanna piss off the neighbors. I checked the plugs and they looked pretty good, didn't look rich. I'm wondering if I can just get like a universal cat and muffler at a local parts store and maybe even do that flexible pipe if I had to. I just don't have any welding equipment and usually the stuff that's an exact fit is way more expensive.

    • @numbskullskills
      @numbskullskills 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      mufflers an cats ether slip in or over existing pipe then people weld or clamp and clamping works just fine, that would be uni fit @@FixLife119

    the spacers might be a adapter plate, im not sure if that came with a weber

    • @FixLife119
      @FixLife119  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That's kinda what I was thinking too but it looks like they made them out of cardboard. I don't think they came with weber's, not sure though.

    Thanks for posting the videos. I recently got a 87 Suzuki, and have learned a great deal by watching your videos. Also an Arizona resident, though we don't have emission in my county. :D
    Looking forward to seeing how your Sammy turns out.

      Hey thanks alot, that's good to hear. I don't really know too much about these Samurai's so I'm kinda learning as I go. Luckily there's lots of knowledgable Samurai owners in the comments so that helps out. I'm not in city limits but where I'm at emissions tests are required. People have told me I can register it as a classic and get around that, I just picked up my muffler and cat today. If it doesn't pass emissions with that, that's prob what I'll do. Thanks for watching, hopefully I'll cover most of what you might encounter on yours.

      @@FixLife119I learned long ago, I am happier when I'm working with my hands. The Suzuki is easy to work on, and honestly I enjoy driving it. Very capable little machine.
      For me, I have a lunchbox locker for the rear axle that needs installing, but have decided to research a mild lift kit. Also spending more time online looking for a Suzuki parts-car, than working on mine.

      I agree, it's bullshit. Govt is waaaay too big! Some people try to get by as "travelers" but they shouldn't even have to. This country was formed because people didn't want BS taxes and restrictions and look at us now. They take half in some cases. Here in AZ it's only the big cities where you have to do that, all the other areas (the other 99% of land around it) you don’t have to do anything, well that's not true, you still gotta pay for registration and tax, but I'm sure you have that wherever you live too. CA is absolutely insane on that stuff! They'll throw you in jail if you remove your catalytic converter, yet people can walk into Walgreens and steal $990 worth of stuff and walk out. Heard yesterday somewhere in CA they're going to start paying high risk criminals $300/month to not shoot anyone. Just insane!
