@jennylopez733 Yes ma'am! 👍
Are you trying to increase use time or brightness?
@@TitanfangArtChannel Well, both. The bigger ones are bright but after 2 min dim for the whole rest of the time they are on. Even with more batt capacity they run longer but still dim out after a few min making me think its the circuit board causing them to dim. I'm happy with the run time with the purple batteries in the larger headlamps just stinks that they dim out.
@@FixLife119 Well there is a few things that could be causing it to dim. The PCB could be one factor, another could also be the led it self. Leds can vary on brightness. Without knowing the specs on the led itself it would be hard to figure out the range... now with that said as a person who like to tinker, you can experiment with either external battery packs for the light that can be attached to your belt and a wire ran to the head unit. Or you can test to see how much voltage the led could handle... I'm no expert (partly trained and a lot of self taught experience) but if you have a variable test bench power supply, you can right two leads to test at what voltage makes the led brighter. The purple battery is 3.7v and that would be your starting point. Please also note the led's temps as you test. I was recently given one of those headlamps and it's perfect for me right now, but when the battery fails eventually then I will do this to mine. But as I said without the specs of the led you can run the risk of burning out the led if it isn't able to handle a certain amount of power going through it. If your testing finds it working at like 4.5v (ex. desired brightness) then you would need to build a power pack with a regulator that can drop the power of two purple batteries in series (making a total of 7.4v) to adjust the voltage down to 4.5v the only problem with this if you also want longevity then you would need more batteries in both series and parallel. If you don't know what series and parallel then I would refer to this video: th-cam.com/video/ytEf1hJFn4I/w-d-xo.html then look up videos on building battery packs with lower voltage (or specific voltage). I hope this gives you some help to your experiment :)
@TitanfangArtChannel I think I'm prob done tinkering with these. I will put the flat battery back into the smaller headlamp and prob swap a single purple 14500 into each of the large ones. Keep in mind the big ones were like $1.70 each, so I figured if I could make em last longer for $10-$15 for several of them I'd have some sweet headlamps still pretty cheap. What I took from this is that the small ones are already very optimized, and they're only like $3-$4 each. In the first video I kinda showed the diff between series and parallel, and we found out the led strip in the larger lamps will handle 5vdc off a USB transformer, not sure for how long though. You got me thinking and now I'm wondering if the circuit board somehow monitors the temp and adjusts the voltage to keep it from getting hot as like a safety feature. I noticed the smaller ones do get quite warm while wearing them but they also don't dim out like the bigger ones do. I guess I could repeat that test in the freezer and see if they still dim out at the 2 minute mark or if they last longer while cold. I honestly probably won't though because there's nothing I can really do about it anyways. I want to keep everything inside the head band, like I don't want a remote battery bank. I have enough of them that I can just swap em out when they get dim. Thank you for the comment. You got my gears turning. If I knew more about the circuitry of the board I would try to alter the thermal safety if that's what's causing the dimming but I would honestly just be guessing with what I know, likely a transistor acting as a variable resistor, there was no visible heat sink either. Thank you again!
nice experiment
@@numbskullskills Thanks buddy. Woulda been cooler if it worked lol. I'm gonna solder the flat battery back into the small one and prob solder one purple into each of the big ones. It's weird, I got 4 of those purple 14500 batteries, 3 of them charge to over 4 volts and one only charges to just over 3 volts. Guess I'll throw that one out lol.
@@FixLife119 thing i dont get is why the one blew the board. yeah sometimes thigs just dont work
@numbskullskills Yeah makes no sense, but like u said, sometimes things just don't work. Honestly surprised any of them work for $1.65 each lol. For the bigger ones anyways.

These lights are great, in regard to light output and weight. However, they do not negotiate with PD chargers. More often then not, you'll have to use USB A to C. As mentioned in the video, standard USB A is current limited to .5A. When trying to use a PD-C to C, these little guys can't tell the charger to turn on. Honestly, for the price, that's to be expected. Slightly different, I have a Rode ME microphone setup with type C charging. You would think that a well established brand's product that charges via Type C, would be able to negotiate with a PD charger but nope. A to C at .5A, just like these cheap lamps.
@@Scr00ples Interesting... I did notice with the smaller better headlamps that they would only charge with the cheesy cable that comes in the box so that's all I've tried with these bigger ones also. Thank you for the info. The new batteries showed up yesterday and I started testing last night. I'll be making a video on the results soon. Thanks again.
@FixLife119 I love the compactness of these headlamps, but I'm pondering whether or not to build an 18650 battery pack with PD charging. Sort of like a miner's lamp. I just don't know if it's that serious. I look forward to your next video. I'll make a decision after I watch it.
@Scr00ples I'm still testing but so far I'm not impressed with the 14500 batteries. They are the same size though. I may try to rig some terminals up in the plastic housing so they are removable. I feel like my actual battery charger does a better job charging than the on board charger. Then 2 of the 14500's would fit side by side. I got like 2 hours and 43 minutes out of one of the new 14500's, which is good, but the cheap headlamps start bright and go dim after a few minutes, I don't think the batteries are to blame. I'm going to do a side by side with the smaller headlamp and put it on time lapse so we can see it dim out. I bet the 18650's would do the same, just last longer while dim.
@@FixLife119 I think they are using a super inefficient buck converter circuit on the driver side. I'd pay triple the price for a higher quality unit.
@Scr00ples Exactly, I paid more for the batteries than the headlamps. Wish I knew a little more about circuitry I would upgrade the circuit board. Even with the better (smaller) ones I just have a bunch and swap them out when they start to go dim. I haven't tried upgrading one of those yet...

1:59 In total I had 4 Covid vaccine shots. To my knowledge I’m the only person I know who hasn’t had Covid yet. I’ve heard it’s a horrible feeling having it so as I’m happy being antisocial I have no issue keeping a safe distance to people. 🤪
@@BorisEkner I had it in '22 and just recently. It wasn't terrible either time but this time I started taking Ivermectin when my roommates got it so it wasn't that bad at all. The first time after I had it I think I had long covid because I had terrible fatigue for weeks and weeks. I couldn't walk across the house without being winded. Took ivermectin and it went away in like 2 days. I did have brain fog for almost a year though. It's probably much weaker now than it was in 2020.
@@FixLife119 Happy to hear you got through them both. I’ve learned that it can be really terrible.
Well done. The engine sounds great. It could use a little maintenance though, but so far so good. Funny that a cheap Toyota carb suits the engine better than the Weber. I guess size doesn’t matter after all, right? 😂
@@BorisEkner Why, what did she tell you? Lol, for these lil 1.3L they seem adequate. I'm sure the Weber would work great too with a good quality rebuild kit, but for that price it's easier to just slap on a 3k.
@@FixLife119 😂 I’ve been told that guys with large vehicles have small privates. - FYI, I drive a small car… I think you can figure out the rest. 🤪
its alive, nice work man
@@numbskullskills Yup. They had the Weber that was on it and another Weber but they were both kinda needing parts. I'm sure a brand new Weber would work just as well, but they are $300-$400 vs $54. I love them 3K's, can't beat em.
@@FixLife119 well it seemed to work from here
@numbskullskills Yup, sounds good from my house.
@@FixLife119 sounds real good from here too
It’s been great to follow you since the beginning. You sold it as intended. I hope it’s well taken care of and that you made a profit. Looking forward to your next project.
@@BorisEkner Hey Boris, how are you my friend? Ya it finally sold. A nice younger guy from Phoenix came down and got it. Unfortunately, any profit from that is going into my business I'm starting so I don't have a project right now, but I've been helping my friend fix things on his dad's '86 Samurai that he wants to sell, it's in a different playlist. I'm only doing 20 minutes +/- on those videos and it's much quicker to edit with my software. I hope you're having a good start to 2025!
@@FixLife119 Of course you’ll invest all you can in the business. I wish you all the best with it. I saw a few of your friend’s Samurai videos. Smart to understand the contacts in the ignition switch was the issue to get the starter running. You’re good at this. As said before, you should do more Samurai videos no matter who owns the car. So far 2025 has been a good year, thank you. But it’s only 11 days old so there is plenty of time to get it fuqked up. I wish you the best for 2025, and I look forward to watch more of your content.
Welcome to your new videos of another Suzuki Samurai. This one seems to be not in very good condition but I'm sure you will restore it as well as the previous one. Greetings
uhg them carb pumps must be junk, you messed with yours a lot
It appears like you have a large vacuum leak as well.
@@valerierayburn813 Yeah you're probably right. Not sure if it might have been sucking air through the leaky accelerator pump. When I was editing this last night it almost seemed like there was an issue with the primary throttle valves (the bottom set of butterflies). I didn't notice in real time but on the video it seemed like when I was spraying starter fluid the last time 1:13 it wasn't sucking it in, it was like spitting it back out. Unfortunately we may never know the reason. Instead of buying a new accelerator pump and possibly needed more parts, he bought the $54 Toyota 3K carb and I swapped it out. Ran like a champ after that. I think that's the next video I need to edit. Thank you for the comment, I hope your new year is off to a great start!
I would love to have one! How long does it take you to make one just like the one shown? How heavy is it? So creative!
Hey thanks very much. I had the idea for years before I ever started making them. I wanted to turn it into a business but the polishing takes so long its not cost effective. They take days to make, depending on how many hours I work on them per day. I've had several people tell me the flap disc version looks like more work goes into them, I was like WHAT?!?! They do look kinda cool too lol. I've made versions with thin red line, thin blue line, carbon fiber inserts, the clock in the diamond plate with rivets at 12, 3, 6, and 9 o'clock. Even did one with LED strip on the back, like undergrow. They weigh about 3 lbs. Hey thanks again for the comment, and Happy New Year!
lol, what a life fixin junk it is so much fun till it isnt
@@numbskullskills Yes sir lol.
Yup, I see another 3K carby going on that one. 3K fixed your last one. :) Great videos
@@larry6315 I can neither confirm nor deny. I'm kidding of course the 3k got it running like a top lol.
Product for you to try as far as the plastics go. 303 Aerospace. I only have experience with the product in the white bottle, but I imagine the others work great also. Just an easier alternative to painting. it is a little pricey, but it really makes a big difference with bring back some luster in plastics as well as protecting from UV rays. Which Arizona gets plenty of. The dash of my 88 looked a lot like that, and after a few coats of that product it really came back around. It kind of acts like Armor all, but isn't super slick or weird like it can be. This should be a good candidate to try and get spruced up a bit though. Body looks great and with a tuneup, some carb work, it should come out great for the next future owner. Looking forward to the next samurai series!
@@JosiahMcBeth Hmm, never heard of it, I would definitely like to try it out though, I love trying new products like that. If we can fix that swelled up part that's cracked it'll definitely need to be painted after but I still wanna buy some. She's running pretty good now I just have a bunch of editing to catch up on. Everything else is still kinda rough though. I'm not sure how much time and energy he wants to put into it, I guess we'll find out together. Hey Happy New Year and thanks for the comment!
part 3 comin
@@numbskullskills Yessir, tomorrow morning, it's already edited, just gotta add a thumbnail, upload, and schedule it.
@@FixLife119 ill watch it
@numbskullskills Okay but watch at your own risk. My videos have been known to make people dumber. I really should add a disclaimer at the beginning lol. Thanks buddy.
@@FixLife119 thats a very good idea, i put plug in my ears to help slow the loss
@@numbskullskills lmao!
That plastic you said looks like it go under the dash yes it do go under the dash you made one for yours, on the door handle plastic the one that don’t have the hole for the lock belongs on the older models square vent ones, the lock mechanism isn’t on the door panel it’s up by the window. Why don’t you buy that samurai 😏
@@cmdfred856 oh ok thanks, that's good to know. I think I also saw a kit to relocate the lock to the top of the door after they sent me the wrong style. I ended up cutting a hole for it. He doesn't really care as long as it works. I'm starting a business right now so money is tight but if the business does ok it'll be project city soon lol. Happy New Year!
Is that your 4runner
The black one is my roommate's (1990 22RE), the white one is his mom's (1999 5VZ-FE). I really like the body style of the '99. Too bad hers isn't a 4x4.
Sherrif or Sheriff. Neither looks right to me. Sherriff looks better.
That is awesome. Another Samurai. Happy New Year

@FixLife119 I salute you for your commitment of documenting all the projects you have done. My son has a Samurai that needs restored and I plan to use a lot of your videos for reference. Happy New Year.
@@ripnandtearing Thank you.. That's really cool to hear. I've loved TH-cam for so long and every year I always kick myself when I look back at all the things I could have recorded so I finally just decided to pull the trigger. I wish I would have done it ten years ago lol. If your son has any interest all you really need these days is a tripod because cell phone cameras are so good. It's good to record anyways in case you forgot how something came apart, then when you're done if you watch it and think this would make for a decent video you can edit it and upload.

@@FixLife119 happy new yr to you to , dang thats some views
Loosen up that main crank bolt and see if there's play with the woodruff key. I had to pull mine of, put in a new key and rotate it clockwise (so it's in the right position) and crank that main bolt down real hard. That's IF that's the timing issue. Mine had no power even though it idled OK and revved up not under load. Just something to check out. You can bring number 1 up TDC and see if the line on the pulley is at the 0deg mark. The flywheel one should read the same. If they're not, then the main pulley has slipped some. If this is off, your cam timing will be off.
@@garrykennedy5484 Yes sir, the outer pulley was wobbly and he said they had it off at some point. I'm sure it didn't get lined back up so that timing mark was off. That shouldn't affect the inner timing belt pulley behind it that turns the cam (idk, maybe I'm wrong, I've never had one of those off), that outer belt only turns the alternator I think. I'm sure we'll pull it off later because I don't like the way it wobbles, but might have to pull the radiator and there's an elec fan shoehorned in there also (ughh) so it'll be an ordeal. I just used the back one to time it real quick, then it idled much better after that, still had carb issues which we took care of in later videos, I have a bunch to edit still. Thanks for watching and Happy New Year!
You're correct. That outer pulley does not turn your timing belt. But the little pulley behind it does and that's where the Woodruff key is that I'm referring to. However your timing mark is on the main pulley. Call that Woodruff key does is align it for when you took it down. So if you can get it aligned even though the main crank maybe wallowed out a little with her Woodruff key goes, if you get it in the right spot and crank it down tight like it should be it shouldn't move.
Can't get enough of that Sammi stuff!!! LOL I've got a 94 Sammi and a 93 Geo 4x4 Tracker I'm fixin' on right now.
@@garrykennedy5484 Hell yeah! You got some fun stuff to work on! I keep saying they are the best project vehicles ever because they were built simple and you can still get parts, cheap or expensive, I had decent luck with some of the cheaper stuff, not so much with others. I'll never cheap out on a carb rebuild kit again, or a combo switch... learned that from my Sammy restoration. So much fun though, and whatever money you put in you should get back because they're appreciating in value.
@FixLife119 I really think you need to revisit the difference between the flywheel timing and your main pulley timing on that new samurai. I just live over on Higley and Baseline if you want to reach out to me and I can show you what I'm talking about in person. It's really hard to explain over text.
