    Those little plastic things you cut off are buttons for holding the carpet in place. I just had to pop them out and back in a few times this weekend when I ran new speaker wire and wiring for a subwoofer. Makes it much easier than regular carpet in a car...especially when you have to remove it to clean it from some fun off roading!

      Hey thanks for the comment, that's kinda what I was thinking. Man for 37 year old pieces of plastic, those things were pretty strong still. Maybe they've been replaced but they weren't brittle at all how some plastic gets when it's old. I've kinda noticed with this thing that Suzuki kinda skimped in some areas and did really good in others. That's all part of the fun discovering things like that I guess. Thank you!

    Looking good buddy! I agree, the way Suzuki mounted the seats truly is ridiculous. Could have been wayyyyy better.
    Also a pro tip, if you don't wanna get ripped off with the metal prices at Lowe's or HD, call a local Steel yard or fab shop. A lot of the time you can just buy a section of drop from something they have just lying around. For way cheaper. We have a ton of walk in folks who just come in needing a chunk of pipe, flatbar, angle, etc.
    Keep up the good work though! You're making great progress :)

      Thanks man, I really appreciate it! Ya we have a place here in Tucson called Industrial Metal Supply. It's way on the other side of town and my Jeep gets 10mpg so the 40 mile round trip would cost me what I'd save lol. They'll deliver if you're buying in quantity. I've done that with the aluminum channel I buy to make the 3D American flags. That's why I'm so disgusted when I see their prices cuz I know what they charge across town. That place is incredible, they even have a remnants section where stuff is even cheaper than their normal cheap prices. Thank you for watching!

    Tons of comments from me…
    All naked metal:
    1st rust protection WITH zinc.
    2nd paint, fiberglass, or whatever you want.
    Never ever(!) fiberglass/Plastic Padding/ on a naked metal surface without rust protection added first!
    Your solution to add a square washer is probably what I would have done too, all circumstances considered. Smart thinking on your part.

    And the cities will continue to grow. Several battery and silicon manufacturing companies already breaking ground. Even see a huge increase for anything IT related. Also, cannot beat the weather.
    Love the Suzuki, watching your videos has motivated me to work on mine. Just did all the oil/gear fluid changes. Time to see what is still leaking.

      Yup, unfortunately I've seen Tucson get bigger every year and traffic always gets worse, plus all the snowbirds, and we're not far from the border... yeah there's something about seeing someone working on screen that motivates us. Maybe it's the time lapse and music that gets in our brains idk lol. I never watched sports growing up because I couldn't just watch it, after a couple minutes I wanted to be out playing ball lol.

    By the way, i bought a bunch of spray on bed liner from harbor freight, and used it for undercoating on my truck. I couldn't be happier with the results. It sticks to pretty much anything and you cant beat the price. Less than 9.00 a can in my area and it goes an extremely long way. Sorry, just some unsolicited advice. Lol

    I ended up buying some uni-bits from harbor freight, they aren't the best, but they're about the same as the Milwaukee or most others. But for the price, they're the way to go. About a third of those you had in the video.

    • @FixLife119
      @FixLife119  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah I have about a dozen of them over at my parents house. All different sizes, straight flute...spiral etc. They're all pretty dull too. Seen an old dude on a job site "sharpening" his Uni bit by taking a grinder to the notch in the middle. I tried it and it didn't work for me but he said it works so I musta done it wrong.

    • @FixLife119
      @FixLife119  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I actually still have the video I made doing that and going through some wiring under the dash. It was just really boring so I didn't upload it. You can only lower the steering wheel about 1/2 to 3/4" unfortunately. All I did was take the T-40 torx bolts out and put some longer ones back in with washers under the bracket. It was kind of a shitshow though. I glued 6 washers together to make it easier to slide in behind the bracket, then they fell and all came apart. I got 6 washers in there no problem, then I tried for 12 and couldn't do it so I think I settled for 8 on each side. Maybe I should put that video out while I'm prepping the floor for bed liner cuz its just days of boring sanding. Hey thanks for watching!

      @@richerich1348Awesome, thanks! In hindsight maybe I should have just cut about a 1 inch long piece of 1/2" diameter conduit to use as spacers and jammed em up in there. Might still do that lol. Also it would have helped if I would have wedged something in there to hold the column down while I was trying to finagle the spacers in there. I was trying to use 1 hand to pull down on the wheel and the other hand to slide a stack of spacers between the bracket and dash frame. I don't know if it puts stress on the steering linkage by doing that. I would hate to recommend something that'll hurt your Sammy or make it unsafe. Just sucks how high up the wheel is especially since there's no power steering. If I try it on mine and it doesn't hurt anything I'll letcha know.

      Exactly. My last job paid for those but they don't last any longer than the Harbor Freight ones. I have about a dozen of those. I was on a jobsite and saw a guy sharpening his Uni bits by taking a grinder to that flat channel that runs down the shaft. Technically that is the cutting edge but when I tried it, it didn't work very well.

      @@FixLife119 if u get good true edge i would say it would cut good. Same way with knives u know how certain one u got get sharp other one not so great. I know has to do with what kind metal the blade is. But say all things are equal except hand sharping, one might be lot better on shArpness. Now build jig or make something where its repetitive and now both around same sharpness.
      Drill bits especially hard to sharpen of not used to doing it. Make a jig or dance little jig and wal-lah everyone thinks ur crazy.

      @FixLife119  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@P.Trim69 yup there's definitely a technique to it. I have a few different sharpeners and I've never gotten good at using a block, and that's how you get em the sharpest. A jig, like you said, would be the way to go.
