When knitting with a dark yarn, put a white or light towel on your lap. It's amazing how it makes seeing the stitches easier. Love you guys. Happy Fall Knitting!!
Fantastic idea. I use a light around my neck which helps too but having a white towel behind it will pop everything even more. Thanks for posting the tip.
Hi girls! Love watching your podcast....I just started the Bookclub cardigan. It's really fun! I'm using Gilliatt in the Granite colorway. All your choices inspire me😊 Soon to start the Fjolla by Isabel Kramer in MYAK 100% baby yak held with Emma's marvelous mohair. Knit all the things😅
I asked Augustins for the colors she used for the Nothern Augustins no 4, and she used: MC Heavy merino in Powder and Mohair in Mushroom rose; CC Heavy merino in Pomergranate and the same in mohair. Hope that helps :)
Don’t worry if you don’t stick to plans. We appreciate the ideas and you may have inspired someone to make something on your “yearly” list that you didn’t get around to. And it is nice to see what is currently trending each season.❤
As I understand it moss stitch and seed stitch are the same, and double moss stitch is the second one you described with the pattern alternating every 2 rows! 😊
I’m currently working on the Billie Cardi by Sari Nordland in Woolletwine roots dk and Grenouille co suri. It’s a mossy murky green and I’m loving it! Happy knitting.
Such an enjoyable podcast experience ❤. I adore you two. What one doesn’t think of, the other dies!!!!! Adore you two!!!!! I am so excited for these cardigans!!!!
I have a ton of overlap with both of you on my recently finished knits and knitting queue. I just knit Cardigan No. 9 and test knit the Port Jacket. I have the Esther Sweater, Monday Sweater and Lakes Pullover as my next knits!!! I think you have really good taste!!😉
Jessica ...I remember thinking your Artisan cardigan was absolutely stunning....I can't bear to think of you frogging it....give it time, it will look great on you!
I love your podcast so much, I went back and binge watched everything from the beginning. Head over hills for cables and texture this season. Can’t wait to see your finished Book Club cardi.
Thanks for another lovely episode. Jessica I think you should keep your Artisane cardigan for another winter season and treat yourself to a lighter cream/ivory for the Esther sweater! ❤🧶❤🧶
Southern hemisphere here and jealous you are heading into autumn lol! Don’t worry about knitting the same things or getting I inspiration from each other, that’s what friends and/or knitting sisters are for 😊 Oh and I’m working on the Monday sweater now!
Now I'm caught up :) I love the sweaters you are wearing! They look very pretty and flattering. I was your age in the 80s when oversized sweaters were in style -- and I was as petite as you are! I would just say that now, I look back and think... too bad I didn't wear more fitted clothes and sweaters when I had the figure for it!! I love some of the oversize things you make but I would say, enjoy the more fitted ones too... and get a picture ;) I just finished my Altheda colorwork sweater after a loooong time -- and entered it into a local fair! Looking forward to casting on a new sweater or cardigan, just haven't decided which one. If I had a knitting podcast, I'd have an episode once a year at the rate I knit LOL
I casted on the Monday sweater in Knitting for Olive merino and mohair in Plum Clay and put it on hold to make the Bookclub cardigan in Knitting for Olive Heavy Merino, Powder. I just have the button band left and I’m so excited to work on my Monday sweater again!
I have plans to knit several cardigans this fall and winter. As a knitter and crocheter, I really like the Evina Cardigan.🧶I love all the red projects y'all are knitting. ❤
I am currently working on a hat and have plans to work on scarves, hats, and coffee cup cozies for Christmas gifts. I also really want to make my very first cardigan but that does kind of scare me. I learned to knit in high school but never made more than a wash cloth then and just recently re-taught myself to knit. So I worry a cardigan might be ambitious but I do want to try.
I absolutely ADORE the sweaters you are both wearing omg!!! And I can't wait to see all the beautiful things you two make this fall-- I love every project you talked about!!!
I’m also thinking about Christmas sweaters! Considering making the “Mock Turtleneck” by Shirley Paden in a berry red. The texture really resembles ornaments to me. Specifically those stapled paper Christmas ornaments
I am finishing up a semper sweater. And I started on a vest no 1! Keeping it simple this busy fall. I am hoping to knit a Kerr sweater before the end of the year.
I recently knit a jumper with unspun yarn. My mum really liked it so I think I’m going to knit her something in that style of yarn for her birthday in November. Love all your Fall ideas. 😊
I just love Jessica's Jesper Sweater, I need that for my fall office-wear wardrobe. Thanks for the inspiration! And funny you mentioned the Port jacket by Ozetta, while watching this video I am binding of the cuffs on that same jacket! So exited to test knit it and have it ready for fall!
Jacket No. 2 definitely going on my fall/ winter plans list! I've been looking for a more "simple" cabled cardigan to knit. I am knitting the Colorwork Cuff Club August sock right now, thought I'd step out of my comfort zone and try neon pink on a greige base but I am unsure if I like the colours anymore 😅 Next on my sweater list is the Storm Sweater in the exact colour as Jessica knit it in, LOVE the ash melange, I want something that goes with a lot of outfits 😊 Happy knitting!
Ahh your style sounds so beautiful!! We haven’t gotten the colorwork cuff club patterns yet but I honestly think I will cave before the month is over. I don’t have many colorwork socks but summer lee is such a good designer!! Thank you for sharing all of these plans!! 🤗💛
I jumped RIGHT into my Christmas knits this summer for some reason. I just reached the ribbing on the body of my Skeindeer knits sweater (I did all over colorwork for the first time) and next up is matching Knitting for Olive holly sweaters for my one year old niece and I. I want to get to wear them the whole season!
Lovely to see you both. Your projects are absolutely beautiful! Omg...frogging the Artisane Cardigan! I understand your dilemma but it is a fabulous knit, perhaps it will work it's way into your Fall/Winter wardrobe. The Augustins No.4 sweater would be lovely for the Holidays or anytime. You aimed to inspire with this episode, mission accomplished. Happy Knitting!
Hi Lovely Ladies thank you so much for such a fun and inspirational podcast.Your choices as ever are beautiful as is your knitting 🧶 I look forward to seeing your updates .Happy knitting 🧶🌺
There is about 80% overlap with my knitting plans 😀 And I am also in love with bright red at the moment (like everyone 😂) I am currently finishing up a red Eva and next is a bright red Cardigan No.9. I have already made that pattern in a very dark green and it's lovely. Wore it as much as I could before it got too warm.
Will be knitting a red Champagne cardigan, also in KFO's red currant ! It's been on my list for so long but I finally got to ordering the yarn so I can't wait ! And hopefully a Christmas sweater too !
Love to watch you two❤. I'm currently knitting on my Turtle Dove II sweater in CaMaRose's Snefnug and planning on the Ppoppo jacket in hand dyed BFL and Mohair.
You all inspired me to knit the Holly sweater, so I've been working on that and I'm currently on sleeve island. But I'm so excited to have it almost ready for winter wear! I think I'm also going to make the Monday sweater with some of my SQ stash because it's such a versatile piece.
I also have plans to knit up the books club cardigan, though I likely won’t get to it until winter. I’m currently working on the third version of the festival sweater from petit knit this month! I’m matching sweaters for my girls and my niece for a family trip to Germany in late November. I’m also planning on making each of my girls a lulu slipover, also by petite knit, and my husband a chicane from Brooklyn tweed. And if I have time, I’d love to cast on a Pride and Pearls Cardigan from Kutovakika for myself, in the same lavender color as my girls sweaters! So lots to knit!
I’m so ready for fall knitting! I bought some fall colored fiber a few weeks ago and have been spinning it on my Turkish drop spindle. Cant wait to make it into a sweater!
love the planning vid! I have 3 gift knits (all three are sweaters) pending this fall which I just picked up yarn for but I've been eyeing the Cardigan no. 9 or the Zakkuri Cardigan. I plan by a sweater a month so Im kinda fully booked until Dec which is so nice but also daunting!
I’m currently knitting on my Evina cardigan right now. I just finished all the granny squares and working on the ribbing. 😊 I’m definitely in my cardigan phase I have four currently on the needles.
@@thosetwinswhoknit It took me a minute to get the hang of the squares. I do wish there had been a video tutorial just for visuals but after about 4 of them, I had it memorized and was able to make them pretty quick. I think 20 minutes pre square.
Hi ! in a comment under a post of the bow sweater she gives the actual colors she uses : Main color : heavy merino in "powder" + silk mohair in mushroom rose and for the chart color heavy merino + silk mohair both in pomegranate :) love watching your videos from France ! Emma
I think the red in the Northern Augustins No. 4 is Pomegranate. The background colour is harder to determine. However, there is a close up photo of the colourwork, that looks like there is maybe some marling between a paler merino and a pinker mohair, so my best guess is that this is Cream merino held together with Rose Clay soft silk mohair?
You can search ravelry projects for projects that are not yet attached to patterns (test knits). If you search for the port jacket project there are some that are finished, and they contain the yardage.
A moss stirch and a seed stitch are exactly the same, both one by one and then the opposite on the next row. Although I've never heard the term "double seed stitch," a double moss stitch means that you're repeating the same thing on one side of the work for two rows and then changing it for the next two rows instead of changing it every row as you do in moss stitch. A triple mustache means that you change when you have three rows that are the same on one side of the fabric. A lot of times double mich will be worked in sets of two stitches across the row, as well so that you end up with a little blocks of four pearl stitches and four knit stitches, if that makes sense. BTW… You girls are adorable and I think we would all like to see some pictures of you when you were growing up ❤❤
I started knitting the Esther Pullover with the recommended yarn. I find it super itchy but that’s me 😮. Unfortunately I have to frog it because I started it last winter and I lost 50 lbs since and now it’s enormous. That’s a good thing for me but a bad thing for the sweater 😢. Good luck!
Also I am currently working on the saddle shoulders on a cardigan no 9 in a red. I was a bit hesitant to make it in red but I had a similar yarn for gauge situation and it’s nice when I just need some stockinette it’s gonna be my Christmas sweater I’m thinking with a green dress
Ohh that’s going to be perfect!! It was interesting because normally I pick a project and try to get gauge to work, so it was different starting out knowing the gauge and picking a project based on it! It’s going so fast though!
You girls are so talented. Everything you make seems to fit you so well. What kind of cats do you have? They look like Persians but they have the coloration of Siamese cats.
Not yet but I learned this week you can knit at our baseball stadium, so now I’m excited to see if Sporting will allow knitting needles!! I’ll give an update when I find out!! 😂😁
Chiaogoo all the way!! Rachel uses the interchangeable needles, but I use the individual needles (that I just accumulated over time) and we both love them! ☺️ -Jess
Sandnes Garn definitely doesn’t hold your hand while writing a pattern, but if you’ve made a drop shoulder cardigan before and have a basic idea of the structure it’s not too bad!! You can do it!!
On my plans for the fall are Autumn League sweater knit out of reclaimed yarn (a sweater set I frogged and reconditioned) and the Fibonacci Rings sweater by Ann Budd.
Hi, about the colours for Northern Augustins no. 4: I found a comment by the designer on her Instagram page stating that she used Pomegranate in both heavy merino and silk mohair combined with heavy merino in the colour Powder held with silk mohair in the colour Mushroom Rose. So you were not far off 😊
I love the Lakes pullover and it’s going to look amaaazing in that red yarn 😍 I’ve knit a lot with Lettlopi and other Istex yarns (the’re all in the same Icelandic wool) and I would say that the Icelandic wool is more of an outer wear wool. Not only because it’s kind of rough and prickly and not very nice against the skin (it does soften up with wearing though) but because of the properties of the Icelandic wool itself. It’s like no other wool when it comes to repelling water and like “hardiness” if that’s the correct word? (Sorry, English isn’t my first language). That’s because the wool is made up of both the soft and short “inner” wool fibres and the long and coarse “outer fibres” which are what makes it so prickly but also outstanding in protecting both the Icelandic sheep and us humans from rain, snow and harsh weather conditions of the north. I live in Sweden and the winters get cold and I use my Icelandic wool sweaters outside in the snow. Usually with at least two layers underneath because honestly, with only a long sleeved t-shirt underneath it’s still prickly, it goes through thin fabrics. So while I absolutely love the Icelandic wool and feel like there’s no other wool like it for those exact type of garments, I feel like it’s important that people understand what kind of wool it is and what it’s typically used for so that they don’t get disappointed because they buy the “wrong” wool for what they want out of the garment 😄 now you said you’ve knit with Lettlopi so you probably know this already but I hope someone reading this might learn something new 🤗 Oh, and by the way, a while back one of you talked about knitting a pair of mittens where the pattern was in Swedish, I said I could help translating/answering questions - if you still want that, please contact me on instagram and I’d be so happy to help! You can find me at e_sjogren.
Your definition of moss stitch and seed stitch is the same as mine and I live in BC Canada. I have heard some peple use the terms interchsngeably snd talk about double seed stitch. It just seems to be something that is not standardized.
Yes we do! Hi from Rachel! 🤗 I know there are ways to do it without but for me they don’t turn out as neat as when I use a cable needle. Maybe there’s a trick to it I don’t know!
@@thosetwinswhoknit thanks for responding, Rachel! I think I'm going to make the exact same cardigan with the same yarn. Is it the Cascade Eco? In the video you said eco merino but I'm assuming its the Peruvian wool? I'm also planning to make the same sunde sweater. Love your style!
And Jessica please don't frog the Artisane cardigan! I think it would be the perfect piece to elevate a simple jeans, white t-shirt and sneakers or ankle boots outfit. Or insted of a white tee a white or light blue button up.
Can't you dye the cardigan in a darker color so you don't have to frog it and it would look different enough from your stockinette cardigan? If you do, I'd definitely be interested to see the final result 😊
I like watching your podcasts. You both have very good taste and style! Please don't take any offence when I say this but it would be very nice if you could tie or pull back your hair when showing off your beautiful sweaters! It was really hard to see the lovely yoke pattern of Rachel's sweater. And I think the sweater fits u very well Rachel. I have knit the Lakes sweater as well Jessica. I love the pattern and fit. Not so crazy about the yarn I chose - lion brand fisherman's 100% wool. I find it itchy!
Oh my goodness - did you here the screams from across the Atlantic when you talked about frogging the Artisan cardigan? It is so beautiful and is an heirloom piece, in my opinion you will find ways to style it over the years. If I had knitted that, I would get pleasure from just looking at it in my wardrobe! It's your choice, obviously, but I would just buy more yarn and wait a decade before frogging it xx
Rachel going there’s a lot of ppl making cardigans rn. I’m like wow yeah there are A lot of people making cardigans and then I look down at my Maggie cardigan in my hands….
I will pay someone to tell me what to knit with the yarn I bought. I’ll buy more of a second color if necessary. Estelle highland chunky alpaca 130m per 100g I’m listening…😂 please help.
Ohh not sure if you’re into simple knits but I think the Lenon Sweater by Caidree would get gauge well with that yarn!! 🤗 I’ll be so interested in knowing what you do with the yarn!!
Haha! I think you guys copy each other. 😂 I haven’t noticed one copying more than the other. That’s hilarious. Tell me you’re sisters without telling me you’re sisters. 😂
Hahah I love this! 😂 a few episodes ago we asked if people could tell who was older and we got several people who said I (Rachel) am younger because I’m always copying Jessica 😂

I got my atx fc scarf yesterday 😮😂
Keep knitting you guys xx
Not yet but I learned this week you can knit at our baseball stadium, so now I’m excited to see if Sporting will allow knitting needles!! I’ll give an update when I find out!! 😂😁
Just discovered you two! Love hearing the knitting talk! I was curious if you guys have a favorite knitting needle brand? Or kit?
Chiaogoo all the way!! Rachel uses the interchangeable needles, but I use the individual needles (that I just accumulated over time) and we both love them! ☺️ -Jess
I have wool for the Artisane cardigan. I’m a bit nervous tho as I’ve heard the instructions are a bit lacking?? Love all your plans. Happy knitting !!
So you were not far off 😊
I love the Lakes pullover and it’s going to look amaaazing in that red yarn 😍
I’ve knit a lot with Lettlopi and other Istex yarns (the’re all in the same Icelandic wool) and I would say that the Icelandic wool is more of an outer wear wool. So while I absolutely love the Icelandic wool and feel like there’s no other wool like it for those exact type of garments, I feel like it’s important that people understand what kind of wool it is and what it’s typically used for so that they don’t get disappointed because they buy the “wrong” wool for what they want out of the garment 😄 now you said you’ve knit with Lettlopi so you probably know this already but I hope someone reading this might learn something new 🤗
Oh, and by the way, a while back one of you talked about knitting a pair of mittens where the pattern was in Swedish, I said I could help translating/answering questions - if you still want that, please contact me on instagram and I’d be so happy to help! You can find me at e_sjogren.
Evina cardigan on my hook! Team cardigans 🎉
Yesss to all of the cardigans!! 🙌✨
I am knitting Jacket No.2 and Cardigan No.9..... Wish me luck please! Very enjoyable video!
Yess they are both so beautiful!! ❤️
The artisane cardigan pattern is amazing but impossible to buy the pattern 😢
Yes i am here for " twince" 😅😅😅
Your definition of moss stitch and seed stitch is the same as mine and I live in BC Canada. I have heard some peple use the terms interchsngeably snd talk about double seed stitch. It just seems to be something that is not standardized.
do you use cable needles to make cables? super inspired by your knitting plans!
Thank you 🍀🍀🇦🇺
Can't you dye the cardigan in a darker color so you don't have to frog it and it would look different enough from your stockinette cardigan? If you do, I'd definitely be interested to see the final result 😊
I like watching your podcasts. You both have very good taste and style!
Please don't take any offence when I say this but it would be very nice if you could tie or pull back your hair when showing off your beautiful sweaters! It was really hard to see the lovely yoke pattern of Rachel's sweater. And I think the sweater fits u very well Rachel.
I have knit the Lakes sweater as well Jessica. I love the pattern and fit. Not so crazy about the yarn I chose - lion brand fisherman's 100% wool. I find it itchy!
I had the same thought watching this back! It’s always nice to have kind feedback! 🤗
LOL 😂 I was worried I was behind the trend but I think I made it right in time! So much red! So many cardigans! ❤️
Don’t frog the Artisan Cardigan it’s so beautiful 😮
Maybe I’m crazy but I can’t find that cute Jasper sweater by Julie Hoover. Could it be called something else?
Try searching for “Jesper” ☺️
good knitting advice as always x go austin fc
I love hearing about your plans! I am in the southern hemisphere and just started a Margaux top inspired by yours but in a muted red ♥
Oh my gosh that’s going to be stunning! It’s such a beautiful pattern ❤️
🍀
❤
I will pay someone to tell me what to knit with the yarn I bought. I’ll buy more of a second color if necessary.
Estelle highland chunky alpaca
130m per 100g
I’m listening…😂 please help.
Ohh not sure if you’re into simple knits but I think the Lenon Sweater by Caidree would get gauge well with that yarn!! 🤗 I’ll be so interested in knowing what you do with the yarn!!
@@thosetwinswhoknit I’ll check it out! Thank you!
Don’t frog that cardigan!!!!!!! 😮 its better than the stockinette one in my opinion - just buy new yarn!!!!😂
Clark Eric Thomas Betty Taylor Kevin
If I had a sister I would want to. Copy her and she would copy me.
