So glad you decided to keep making videos after your return to work - I know how hard it is to balance *anything* with teaching. Love the fun of the Picker Wheel! Xx
Greetings, yesterday, I returned from Spain, you inspired me to shop for yarn. I was able to stop at one shop. All others were closed for Siesta time. You are one of those who inspire me to finish my projects. I want to cast on that first featured blouse. Thanks!!!!!
I'm thrilled and flattered! I love sharing about knitting, especially for fall. I am settling into a new routine and really enjoying the Saturday morning episode post. Happy you are joining me!
Soldotna! This put together with the Holst yarn will be fabulous. My Soldtona needs to get some love and now I see yours ( and to knit again….). Just need to wear. You do inspire me. So enjoyed today.
You're too kind! Thank you. Yes! Wear your Soldotna. It's a beautiful design and one that when I find myself wearing it, makes me happy and feel proud that I've knit it!
Socks by Stone Knits are my dream. So many of them I want to knit! So many beautiful plans you've got, I cant wait to see the progress! Wonderful patterns!
Lovely selection! I thought I’d point out that on the Ravelry page for the Sailor’s Gansey, one of the Attribute “bubbles”/“lozenges” is “Top-down”…mystery solved😊
I love your Autumnal sweater choices... I just have to say that after hearing you say Autonmal or some such thing 25 plus times, I have to correct you. I cant help myself. xxx
@@pairswellwithknitting Please don’t change, I love all your cute misspeaks, they’re part of who you are. I’ve been bingeing on all of your knitting and travel videos and you have become my clear favourite. Love from Ireland ☘️
My next project will be Misurina in Linen Quill. Black as MC and Toffee brown for CC. Our NC falls are very mild, so heavier sweaters do not come into play until near Christmas.
I’m so happy for your colourwork adventures! Will you make your Soldotna long sleeve or just stick to the whole crop look? The colours are perfect for a moody winter look.
Thank you! I have started knitting-up the yoke and totally enjoying this project. With the yarn quantities I have, I plan on keeping it a short sleeved crop sweater. We shall see!
Autumn colored colorwork is just sooo fun!!! I just finished a fall colored Icelandic sweater and I want to wear it everyday. Enjoy! Love the unique patterns in this roundup
I'm so happy you've enjoyed the patterns selected! Yes, autumnal colours paired with a colourwork motif is where my heart is at the moment. I truly want to cast-on everything and only wish there were more knitting hours in a day! Happy knitting!
Just so you know for the future - Yggdrasil is pronounced "igg-dra-sil" I believe, and Arboreal "are-bore-real" I think with a stress on "bore". At least that's how I say it :) These knits all look so pretty, the jumpers especially!
Hello ! I am enjoying your podcast !!! 🙏 I am so happy you are going to cast Sailors Gansy . I was so excited to knit this sweater but smth went really really wrong with my gage . I believe I did proper math selecting the side . On a paper everything was great but the yoke went bananas …. It hit so big . When you look at her modeling the sweater you can see that even on her structure somehow is lost , it seems very loose . Anyway …. My advice would be to be cautious about tension when you do these “ bumps “ . Cannot wait to follow your progress . If you are successful I will go back and give another shot!!!! It’s a really nice sweater 👍
Thank you very much!! The Sailors Gansey is such a beautiful design. I could understand how gauge could be altered with the stitch pattern. I often find with sweater patterns, they are designed with a lot of wiggle room and being a looser knitter, often have to calculate to go down in sizes that don't exist in the original pattern. I hope your enjoying what's on your needles at the moment.
What a great idea, spinning for your next project! I am definitely trying this! Your Soldotna crop colors are gorgeous. Also I love your blouse. Did you make it?
Jennifer, those colors for the Soldotna are gorgeous and you will look stunning in them! I made a Soldotna for my first colorwork. I loved my color choices but it came out a little small. I think I chose the wrong size and did not go up a needle for the colorwork area. I need to make another.
I just discovered you and so glad I did. What a fun way to select your next CO. I agree with you on discussing gauge instead of needle size. I do the same thing on my channel. If you’re looking for a new podcast to watch I’d love to invite you to my channel. Looking forward to seeing you again soon my friend. ❤
Be aware if you knit the garter sweater, SIMPLY ME BLOUSE by NORgardknitters in the round, you will have a demarcation at your row change, that is probably why the designer chose to add short rows. Try a small swatch of garter stitch in the round you will see what happens. Have you tried taking a black and white photo of the yarns for your future Soldotna ?
Thank you very much! Your insight is very appreciated. I have not knit a garter stitch garment and will take this into consideration. As for the Soldotna, I have realized that there may not be as much contrast as I would like with my current colour choices. I am toying with the idea of playing around with some colour options, keeping with the autumnal theme of course!
@@pairswellwithknitting Yes, I was wondering about the contrast for your Soldotna, it would be sad to do all that lovely colorwork knitting and have it blend so much you can not see the pattern.
Last year I made an in the round garter stitch capelet/shrug. I hated the look of the end of round change from k to p, so when it was finished I crocheted a “false seam line” (just a crochet chain stitch) up that whole area to camouflage the yuckiness. For the Simply Me, one could do that both up the yucky beginning/end of round line, and make another crochet chain up the corresponding other side of the sweater as a total troupe l’œil. (If I’ve understood the construction of this sweater correctly, that is.)
@@Kaila999 You can also just slip 1 knitwise with the yarn in back at the beginning and half point of each purl row to make an elongated knit stitch like in mosaic knittng. For people who prefer to to add a crochet chain. I got that from a baby hat pattern, knitted in the round in garter stitch: Bonnet Évolutif by Agathe Verrier from Ma petite laine.
So fun! I love these picks and just bookmarked a few - thanks for sharing them! That pumpkin yarn is stunning - I'm obsessed! What do you plan to use it for? I struggle with bulkier knits that look flattering, so I'm really curious
You're too kind! I'm so happy that some of the pattern selected were inspiring for you as well. The sweater I was really wanting to cast-on with the Weekend Wool in Pumpkin was the Karl Johan. The gauge was slightly off, but it is a very simple design and construction to modify. This will be in my future!
@@pairswellwithknitting I appreciate the reply, sorry I missed it in your show notes. I ran my own picker wheel and it landed on Favourite Fingerless mittens🎉 Now, to pick a yarn...
@@wendystewart-fox35 I'm thrilled you spun the wheel for your new cast-on!!! Super flatted that you'll be knitting on the mittens. I hope you have fun!
Thank you!!! The blouse is the Anthea Blouse pattern, deigned by Anna Allen, a sewing pattern. I've used a linen fabric from Blackbird Fabrics. It's a beautiful design.
I really wish more people would skip the needle size. It's truly irrelevant when describing the sweater and yarn weight. Stitch count has relevance and how you get there has so many variables. I hope more follow in your footsteps.
Thank you very much for your feedback! I never meet gauge using the recommended needle size for all designers and have learned the hard way. I do feel gauge is personal and the knitter can change needle size where needed to meet the designer's measurements. Happy knitting!
The Simply Me Blouse is in my queue too. It is so feminine. 2025 is going to be my year of colorwork. I have several potential Jennifer Steingass patterns in my queue including Arboreal and Avena too. I can’t wait to see your projects.😊🧶
