    There is something strangely satisfying for me to see people knit from their stashes. Yay for stash knitting🎉

    Our taste in knitting patterns is so similar! I just started the Siri Cardigan by Lene Holme Sansoe a few days ago. Thanks for keeping me company while I am working on it! I can confirm that it’s a super fun process knit.

    Don't shy away from bottom-up, seamed garments. You're a very skilled knitter and those seams are much easier than many of the techniques you've already mastered. You will mostly just use mattress stitch which is fairly easy and you'll be giving your garment a lot more structure. I don't like the way top-down garments hang off of my shoulders due to the lack of a seam. So go for it! You'll also find the project much more portable if you take your knitting on the road. It's much easier to knit a sleeve when there isn't a whole sweater attached. I also think blocking in pieces is much better. Those cables will look spectacular!

      I don't mind seaming at all. Its not so bad.

    I have quite the list for my fall knitting… though I’ve made a decent dent already. I made 3 beautician sweaters by petite knit for my girls and my niece, I currently have a Chicane by Brooklyn tweed on my needles for my husband, and I have a pride and pearls cardigan for myself and two lulu slipover juniors for my girls. And then once that’s all done I would love to cast on a book club cardigan before Christmas!

    I love making things bottom up (except for socks) because the bottom edge looks very clean that way, and I do actually prefer doing cables flat vs. in the round because it's WAY easier to keep track of when it's time to use the cable needle since a lot of cable are every 4 rows, so you know that every other front is when you make the cable.

    • @hipknithooray

    I’m also really feeling knit mini skirts and dresses this season and have a bunch in my plans, including the staple skirt. I think it would work really well as fingering weight and the shaping on it looks so nice.

    Hi Rebecca, I enjoyed this episode as usually, thank you! Kuutar wrap is also on my list and I still havent got to knit it. Excited to see your progress with the gauge experiment which I had in my mind as well. I also wanted to knit an Esther jacket, bought the yarn and changed my mind right before the cast on. Siri cardigan is slowly growing on my mind, so I guess I might choose it as well! Its beautiful! Regarding bottom up construction, I knit it a few times and for me it looks way more scary than it is. I might knit more bottom ups in the future, just need to beware of the sleeve length

    I think the Peanut Butter Cardigan is GORGEOUS so that's my pick for the cabled cardigan. I just started knitting the Amedeo Cardigan which is knit flat and bottom up so I feel your hesitation but I think the outcome should be worth it! Plus it's not a super fitted garment so I don't think you'll need to worry too much about getting to the top and it not fitting. I always seem to fall in love with bottom-up pieces so I think I'm getting used to that construction method.

    • @hipknithooray
      @hipknithooray  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I think I will go with the peanut butter cardigan!! I wasn’t really thinking about the loose fit but that’s so true and makes me a lot less nervous aha

    Knitting bottom up is my preferred way of knitting, it’s not difficult at all. I have been knitting for close to 60 years, I have never done any top down knitting and the idea of that type of construction is very intimidating to me. But I am sure as with being comfortable with one way of knitting one could also manage to do so it in the opposite way of construction. Just give it a try, if you like it, great, but if you don’t, at least you gave it a try.

  • @rebecca-72
    @rebecca-72 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Terrific plans! I think new to you techniques are always worth a try. I don’t mind bottom up but I really dislike seaming. Despite multiple projects, I cannot master a clean seam…

  • @elenabeyers2088
    @elenabeyers2088 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I also am trying to use stash yarn and have several patterns in mind. Btw, do not be intimidated by bottom up and seaming pieces together. Watch a few videos like Leslie Friend with Pink Knits or Rox Richardson. I learned from the Knit and Purl books btw Sally Melville. I think some of her patterns are still good but mostly her knitting information is priceless to me. I like reading her books. Good luck.

    Awesome video! For the kuutar wrap an idea might be to do snap buttons or actual buttons (one on the inside and one on the outside) instead of the strings for closure... that would eliminate a potentially fiddly adjustment

    • @hipknithooray

    For my fall knitting plans I've got the Amedeo Cardigan in Estelle Yarns EcoCotton which I've cast-on, I'm also making a Tolsta Tee in Walk Collection Linea that'll be colourblocked/striped and the Cozy Autumn Socks that I'm making out Lelo Laines Fingering. In the second half of fall I'm planning on knitting Sari Nordlund's Laila Shawl so I have something to snuggle up with as well as the Field Sweater.

    Ooh I have been meaning to start a cable knit cardigan - I am originally from Australia but currently in the States, where it gets a lot colder than back home. I feel like a cardigan will be more versatile for the weather here + when I eventually move back home. The Siri Cardigan by Leknit has been on my list for a while - I love it but the cables also feel slightly basic. Very torn. The other one I was looking at was the Sandnes Garne Artisane Cardigan...but now you have me wondering about the Peanut Butter Cardigan, that's totally gorgeous...omg...so many knits, so little time...
