My first time watching you and I’m amazed at the amount and quality of your knitting! Beautiful choices. I would love to hear more about how you find time to knit so much! Looking forward to bingeing your back catalogue!
Lovely podcast ladies, beautiful knits,I am currently working on the Arctic light sweater by Kutavakika, really enjoying it, but have had a bit of a break to use some stash up and made 12 hats for the homeless shelter in Warrington,Uk , nearest town to where I live. Look forward to seeing your baby knit 🧶 ❤x
Thank you for another lovely episode! 🥰 A note on the olivegreen Sandnes Garn: The number under „Parti“ is the dye lot. „Farge“ means colour, so that’s the colour number/name. 😊
Loved your projects and the episode in general! :) As to the petite knit star rating: if you go to her website and look at the details for a project she has the star rating and below that you can click on something like "the difficulty rating explained" where she goes into detail why she e.g. picked 5 stars for the Elisabeth blouse...
Thanks for another lovely podcast. For your mohair yarn I suggest to check the pattern "Dusking" by Kiyomi Burgin. You start knitting at the neckband with 4 strands and on your way down you remove a strand until you only knit with 1 strand. That way the seethrough parts are not critical. Happy knitting!
I absolutely loved this episode from you ladies! Such a beautiful and inspiring pieces I would love to make one day. I saw on Instagram that you were sewing some new garments and in your 2024 plans you mentioned that you would like to commit more towards sewing. I would be very interested in also seeing sewing content on your TH-cam 🥰🌸
Ahh that is so good to know!! Since knitting is in our name and I think we’ve pretty much only ever talked about knitting, we didn’t know if people would be interested but we would be so excited to share some sewing stuff in the future! 🥰
@@thosetwinswhoknit ah I understand! Well, I would be very interested in seeing sewing content 😊. Maybe you could include a part later in the video and give a disclaimer for the people that aren’t interested in sewing, so they can skip? 🌸
You guys are adorable. Thank you for sharing all of your beautiful sweaters, socks and hats. You are amazing knitters. So beautiful. I really enjoy seeing what others are working on. This winter I did a beautiful Chunky Chenille Afghan for my Queen sized bed in Bernat Big yarn in vintage white. And it is so warm and cozy. I just love it. I also did a sky blue and vintage white, a 50' x 50" throw with several throw pillows. I made the Sunday Brunch Sweater by Kika which turned out amazing. And I'm working on another one. It's from the bottom up on straight needles with drop shoulders. I altered the sleeves to make them longer, because I didn't want 3/4 length for the winter. I'm knitting another one in pink and white. I also did about four different hats, three scarves, a two cowls and a couple of chunky chenille hats, which I don't like as well as Kika's chunky beanie style. I also designed one of my own cute artist type hats that sits to the side and I left a spot in the back to pull my braid through, so that turned out really cute. That's a lot. It's been fun and warm here in the Midwest with all of my projects. Thanks for sharing. (^Note: I was having a hard time hearing you guys at times with my volume all the way up.) Other than that, awesome job!:)
I love your storm sweater Jessica! Also the donut yarn with plumy purple in it is so, so pretty. I feel like that with the purple yarn you already have stashed would be cool for two color brioche as well! ♥️
That would be beautiful! I’ve never done two colored brioche, so I have no idea if I have enough purple yarn for a project that uses it, but I’ll have to do some research!
When knitting horizontally, row gauge is important. My row gauge is always different than patterns and it changes the length of the garment and I’ve had to do a lot of math ahead of time. Just something to keep in mind to avoid disappointment. Great podcast!
Another awesome video! Wonderful knits - finished, wips and plans!! I am currently working on the Stepaside Sweater by Jennifer Beale. It is BY FAR the most interesting knitting pattern I have ever knit. It is yarn origami at its finest!! I have had to learn all over again the lesson of trusting the pattern!! 😅❤😂 I am using more muted colors than hers, with two natural alpaca yarns. My main color is from a medium gray alpaca and then the natural color is from a white alpaca. I am loving the yarn almost as much as the interesting knit! See y’all again soon!
Hi ladies, I missed yall! Great episode, got a lot of inspo ♡ I would love to see your “knitting must have’s” or “what’s in my project bag” You girls are doing amazing ♡
Thank you so much for the kind words! 🤍 I don’t think we’ve ever shared what’s in our knitting bags, but thank you for the suggestion! We are hoping to do a knit-and-chat style video in the near future, so this would be perfect for then!
Thank you for another lovely episode. I think that green mohair is going to look amazing once it is knit up. I look forward to seeing what you choose 😊
I just finished my first throw over sweater bt Andre Mawry and loved the knit. I lovef it so much i found stash yarn for another and may cast it on tonight. Also working on the two colour version of the grain sweater. Getting through the yolk was a bit of a slog. Using Ask yarn and the stickiness made the k2tog and k5tog a challenge. I might try another 2 colour version just using 2 different yarns no mohair. Am also free styling a toque to go with the throwover, using yp leftover ysrn and the throwover chart.
For a raglan sweater made with two strands of mohair, try Caidree's Soho Blouse! Super cute v neck, simple design in garter stitch for some nice texture.
Thank you lovely ladies for another fabulous, inspirational podcast.I really enjoy watching you both.I have always been a monogamous knitter until this year and I have started having an easy scarf on the go with a sweater.Sometimes after work I am too tired to concentrate so this has been giving me a nice option as there is no shaping.Have a fabulous time at your retreat it sounds amazing 🤩 Looking forward to hearing about it.Happy knitting 🧶🌺
Hi from Rachel! love this routine! I completely feel you on being too tired after work. Sometimes even things I do all the time like picking up stitches just feel like too much work 😅 I think having two projects makes it feel like you can mix things up but still feel like you’re finishing things fast 🤗
I'm currently knitting the Sunde Sweater by November Knits! It is such a wonderful pattern. I just started knitting March 2023 and this is only my 4th sweater. I'm using Sandes Garn Sunday in Dusty Pink for the main color and Sewrella Yarn advent minis for the stripes!!❤ All held with a strand of the Knitting for Olive SSM in Ballerina!
Hi from Rachel! I’ve knit at that same sweater and love it so much!! I used Sandnes Garn Sunday for it too! The advent colors for stripes would be so beautiful!! 😍
@@thosetwinswhoknit oh how fun!! I love seeing your knits. I just discovered your podcast after your what you knit in 2023 videos and can't wait to see what else you and your sister make!! Very inspiring for me as a newer knitter.💗

Thank you for another inspiring episode🥰 I have been knitting on a weekend hat (petiteknit) with Sandnes Peer gynt scraps while watching😊 Looking forward to your next episode🧶
I knit the Thursday Sweater, a free pattern from Hedgehog Fibers, in 10 days (size 3-6 months) and I highly recommend the pattern. You can TOTALLY knit it in a week. I was also working on some other projects at the same time and it was a really quick knit. I used DK weight yarn but the original pattern uses leftover sock yarn held double which I used for the cuffs, collar, and some of the sleeves.
Love watching you two - the inspiration is spot-on for me! Have you considered the Ulla Sweater by Gregoria Fibers? I was just looking at it today to use up some lace yarn. It's 3 strands of mohair.
Lovely podcast as always, thank you Rachel and Jessica. I have just cast on an Aura Vest by Irene Lin. I love her cabled vests but the yarn I had was sport weight and more silky than round, so not really the best choice for cables. It’s a Teeswater 4ply and suits the lacy texture of the Aura. Fun and easy lace pattern and a nice oversized fit if it comes out as I hope. The Sook Moon by Aegyoknit would be lovely in your mohair. You could maybe alternate holding it single and double.
The aura vest looks so lovely! I hope you love how it turns out! Also, the Sook Moon is such a good idea! I had not considered that pattern, but I’m going to seriously think about that one!
That is such a beautiful pattern! Rachel made it a few years ago and did not have a great time with binding off all the ruffle stitches, but I think it might be worth it!
Such a lovely episode as always. Would the Sunday sweater by petite knit be an idea for your mohair ? I think there’s a mohair held double option for that one. Also, thank you for sharing your thoughts on the Colette pullover - I got yarn for Christmas to make that one and I’ll be extra sure to gauge swatch and figure out the right size + needle size for that one ☺️
What about Petite Knits Cloud sweater for your WAK mohair? Thats a casual sweater and has an open-ish fabric I love the colour on you and I can picture it as the Cloud
Of course!! We’ll have to remember to share on an episode next time, we get this question a lot! We order from the Knitting for Olive website. The shipping can be a lot sometimes, so we usually try to order larger orders and split shipping. I think it usually comes out to be the same as if you ordered in the US since most stores mark the cost per skein up a bit!
I always enjoy your videos so much. Was wondering if you've ever thought about talking about what it's like to be identical twins? I'm sure that you're asked that all the time but I think the average population feels like it's a fascinating thing and would really be interested. It would be nice to know in what ways you are the same and what ways you're different. And as always thank you for sharing your beautiful sweaters and photographs
We have not talked about that on our podcast, but we appreciate the suggestion! We’ve contemplated doing a knit-and-chat style video in the near future, so that might be a good time to share our thoughts on having a twin. We love it though! ☺️
Hi, I recently discovered your channel and love watching you podcast. On jumper recommendations for mohair have you considered the fortune sweater by petite knit?
Where do you order your Sandnes Garn from? I am in Ohio and am wondering if most people order it online. Also, thanks for a great video. Thanks for sharing!
We get quite a bit of our Sandnes Garn from a local store Unwind Fiber Arts! We do also order some online. :) Wool and Co seems to have a good stock of Sandnes Garn and usually ships pretty quickly!
Another lovely episode ladies, I just wanted to say that I also I knit the Elizabeth Blouse last year and found the collar and placet super difficult- I didn’t enjoy it at all and I’ve never worn the sweater because the collar is so wide and looks so odd that it makes me so sad. I did it with a class and everyone was super frustrated with it too, so I can see why she rates it difficulty level 5. Yours looks really good perhaps it’s the color, I did a light blue which extenuates how big and wide the collar looks. Ugh!!!! It’s Awful!!!!
Oh no!! I do agree, the collar is a pain! I did not like Judy’s magic cast on, and having to start that way is what caused me to look up the difficulty rating to begin with. I was like, what did I get myself into! 😅 but seeing others rate it lower is what helped me tell myself I could do it, so I thought it was interesting that there was such a difference from her rating to others. I do agree though, it’s not a beginner knit at all! I’m so sorry you don’t enjoy it or wear it.
What are your preferred needles for socks? Looks like the ones you both showed use DPNs, I'm a beginner knitter and trying to decide if I want to do DPN, magic loop, or 9in cable for socks I want to cast on
We both prefer DPNs, but honestly I feel like everyone has to try all of the options to decide! Some people swear by magic loop and will never go back, and I know some people who love the 9 inch needles! Personally the 9 inch circular are my least favorite but don’t take that to mean you won’t love them 🙈
I also have noticed the differences between ravelry users' ratings and petite knit ratings. Maybe her 5 just means the hardest of what she writes. And she doesn't write anything harder? Like brioche or other things that are generally thought of as more technically difficult. Thanks for sharing !
I have heard of you saying you are a tight knitter. When I use fingerling and make socks, I use a U.S. 2 to get gauge because I am such a tight knitter. I am making my first sweater, the autumn league sweater and I am using 7 and 8 needle with sk because the dk with a 9 seemed like string on the needle. My gauge swatches were still smaller but I didn’t wet them and block them. Any advice would be appreciated
Ahh I wish I had some prolific advice! We sometimes have to go up a size from what the pattern recommends for our measurements, and sometimes have to go up a weight of yarn, ie if it says DK, sometimes going up to a light worsted is helpful! But mostly just gauge swatching 😅 I knit on a US 2 for socks as well!
A bit of both! I would say recently it has been more online, but we are lucky to have several great yarn stores around us 🤗 Most of the time we start with a pattern in mind and find the yarn based on that, so it depends on if the LYS around us have something that will work or not. :)
Thank you for the great video. I'm currently knitting The salty days sweater from kutovakika and sadly I have a big problem. I have the right number of stitches beginning Chart C. I have attempted twice, but cannot seem to get what needs to be done on Round 5 in Chart C. To me this is the trickiest part of the pattern so far, so I am disappointed that the tutorial, which has been wonderful, does not address this step at all. I cannot figure out what I’m doing wrong. Any help would be appreciated.
That’s odd the tutorial didn’t address this step! I followed the directions to knit the first stitches of the row together, and then when one stitch remains in the row, to slip that stitch over the first stitch in the row (which was k2tog) so it’s kind of a Frankenstein double decrease. Hopefully that helps!
@@thosetwinswhoknit girl you're incredible! I just figured it out but thank you for this extremely fast answer!! I'm sorry I kind of harassed you by also writing you on ravelry.... Thank you so much
I watch your „older“ content again because it keeps me company while knitting. I‘m currently recovering from orthopedic surgery so need to lay a lot, it’s super boring so I knit a LOT. 😅 I don’t like we are knitters because they name their yarn misleading. „Touch me mohair“ suggests a higher content of mohair then 22% - 54% babyalpaca isn’t what someone would expect of that yarn name. Especially the bulky yarns - they do a lot - are very prone to pilling and feel a bit tacky to me. I also don’t like their patterns. I‘m happy I found „the real deal“. Don’t appreciate it then companies are trying to fool me.
Salty days sweater are my first ever knitted thing, so I love this pattern. I mean it was something who was teaching me so much , step after step

I also have noticed the differences between ravelry users' ratings and petite knit ratings. Maybe her 5 just means the hardest of what she writes. And she doesn't write anything harder? Like brioche or other things that are generally thought of as more technically difficult.
Thanks for sharing !
That’s a good thought, it might be her personal scale for difficulty!
I was wondering if you purchase most of your yarn on line or from your local yarn store?
I don’t like we are knitters because they name their yarn misleading.
For your double stranded mohair project I made the Mousseux by espace tricot… it’s free
